    9/7/2011 Purchased a Yelp Deal

    Purchased the Yelp Deal.

Pizza is thin crust and good but price is high.

Good thing I had the deal or else I would have spent almost $30 for a pizza and 2 drinks.

Venue is very small and has live music on certain days.

Went here since they moved to where the rack is. This place is great. They have added new dishes besides pizza and they are large servings and good. Had chicken parm and it was great. Chicken moist and tender. The salads are large and fresh....Service was great .....will go back.

Wow, one of the best NY pizza's in LA! Definitely go try a slice if you haven't been here yet. Evening entertainment was interesting.  They had this older heavy white man rapping some Easy-E.  This pizza place rocks (in more ways than one!). Service was slow in the beginning as there was only one server that evening.

I wanted to love Redballs but it did not deliver what I wanted. A good pizza.
The place has a great feel. The decor is rock and roll with all the guitars, ,posters, the stage in the back. It transports you in a different time, in a different place. It has a NYC east village feel to it.

Redballs has enormous pizza and this is great. The crust tastes good and thin NYC style. But everything else is done wrong with no care.
The cheese is not good quality and the toppings are frozen. The italian sausage tasted so foul. I knew they were frozen sausage. We were about to leave when we saw the food delivery man came in with a large box that had printed on each side.... Italian Sausage - Keep frozen.

I wanted to love it but I will not go back.

Where do I begin???  First, let me say, that Red Balls has a very good pizza- no question.  What brings it WAAAYYY down to 2 stars, is the terrible "customer service".  I've called in MANY times for delivery/pick up, and I have eaten there, as well they either don't answer, cuss when you ask for a total, or act like they are doing you a favor by making you a pizza.
For a $20 pizza, +5 dollar delivery charge (to go 3 miles!), I gotta say, I would think they would appreciate the return business rather than insulting them.  Perhaps that is part of the "cool atmosphere" and Rock and Roll disposition.  No thanks.  I finally gave up- too many chances.  Going back to D'amores, where the pizza is just as good, and the people are super nice!

    Frickin Big Ass Pizza!
I could barely get the box through my car door. This is some yummy Za too, NY style, really nice soft crust, good quality cheese and toppings.
I actually ate all of the crusts (even my wife's), and I never do that.

Pizzas are a good circumference, and they're the thin NY style. The only issues I had were that they tend to have less toppings than other places and they are pretty greasy. For $20+ per pizza (including tax and tip) I'd like more toppings.

The Brooklyn was jut ok. I'm not a huge meat toppings lover when it comes to pizza so it was just decent to me. I enjoyed the Urban Cowboy much more cause I liked the different flavors going on.

    I'd give them a 3.5

Not really a place for date night, but probably fun for kids or hanging out with friends.

Disappointing pizza and atmosphere.  The LAST place I'll visit again, if ever.  Perhaps I came at the wrong time, but even given the chance that there's inconsistency and they do serve up tasty pizza sometimes does not convince me to try again.

Super friendly and good service.  Fun place- a lot of stuff to look at and keep you occupied inside. Cool rock theme and I think they have events and host shows too.

The regular pizza is ok. Really good lunch specials... but if you go here you must try the SICILLIAN PIZZA!     you have to special order it usually cause it takes a little while to make but so amazing and you get a side of tomato sauce.  So good.   Their sicillian is by far the best pizza I've ever had.  I love this place.

Pizza was great and it didn't take too long to arrive... It's priced rather high and if it wasn't for my Groupon, I wouldn't have gone. The 18in Pizza is big.. but thin. Me and my girl were able to finish it (I left 2 slices cause I wanted to eat it for lunch the next day, but could have easily finished it), so without the groupon it would have cost $26 for a Pizza and drink... I can go to CPK and get a Full Service Pizza, or even BJs for that price.
Their meat tasted great as well. Food 4 stars, price 2.5 stars. It's also very loud (hence the Rock part) so it's not a place to go and have a meaningful conversation.

Honestly can't think of anything bad to say about this place. I go for lunch all the time, and their lunch special (2 slices, a salad, and drink) is perfect! Toppings are plentiful and delicious, the sauce is great, and the thin crust is just excellent for the NY-style pizza fold method

Atmosphere is awesome with all the rock-history plastered over the walls and the live concerts playing on the screens. Overall a great inexpensive pizza spot for lunch!

I am no longer patronizing this establishment.  My past 3 visits have shown there is no one overseeing the orders to make sure they are done correctly.

Every time I put in a phone order, they screw it up, or are out of the very ingredients they list on their menu.  No croutons on a caesar salad, no green peppers when ordered, pepperoni substituted for meatballs, and onions left off when ordered.  This is my experience the last 3 times.

I have already complained once here, and the owner said they were a "mom and pop" business.  And they do their best.

Wrong, they do not do their best!

I can only surmise that the owner of this establishment doesn't really care for the customers, since he allows the screw-ups to continue.  And if the owner doesn't care enough to correct a problem and let it continue, then that business will never grow or thrive.

I went to Mullberry St. Pizza, they got the order right, the pizza was good, and  I did not walk out frustrated.

The exact opposite of experience I've had at Redballs.

Redballs has a management problem with no one taking responsiblity to make sure the place is stocked, and orders are done correctly.

We actually went inside for the first time, and its great! They have awesome decor, rocknroll stuff all over the walls. Its a small place, long an narrow with a small stage at the end. When we went in it was open mic night or something and this man was singing and taking requests. At one point he randomly belched loudly into the microphone. i instantly loved him. AND it was bring your own booze night!! I almost wanted to stop by the store for a bottle to eat there. This joint has a fun vibe and yummy pizza. It feels so unlike Canoga...

This is my favorite delivery spot for pizza in woodland hills.  I guess I have been lucky, because they haven't done me wrong yet in getting my order right. When they had the trailer selling slices at the car wash on Winnetka and Ventura, I had time to talk to one of the owner and she was very nice. I got the whole run down on the "imported" dough and where the name came from.  Kinda pricey, but you get what you pay for in this case.

Great pizza, had been meaning to go to this place for a while & having a groupon just gave me that extra push.
The good- their pizza is AMAZIIINGGG, saying I loved it would be an understatement.
The bad- The people there didn't seem that friendly, and maybe the lady didn't understand me when I asked about it, but she denied having a deal on yelp, when there actually was one, which just kinda put me in a bad mood. The place is a little awkward-- very tiny, hot & not as clean as I like or expect a place to be. Also, no beer, not even crappy beer... not a fan of that.
The eh- I'm not sure how I felt about the guy playing the guitar-- I both really liked it and really disliked it at the same time.
I'd probably get takeout from this place rather then eat there, but I'd DEFINITELY go back.

I've been visiting Rock & Roll Pizza for several years now.  Recently I have been there once a week to curve my pregnancy cravings.  What I love most about this pizza is the thin crispy crust.  It has just the right amount of sauce and cheese and not greasy at all.  The ingredients are fresh yummy.
I love the decor and the staff is super friendly.

I dig the pizza. Its good, the crust is great and the ingredients are loved by my taste buds. Its a small joint surrounded with tons of rock paraphonelia. Excellent environment the times I've been there because it's usually just me in there (but then I go  weekdays before or after lunch hour).
As far as the customer service, the owner can come off a bit brash. Not sure if its because he's from NY, but don't expect to be treated with a smile. Not here. I've been afraid to change my order on the guy. He scares me. :)
Anyway, the pizza is on the pricey side, just like so many other local family owned restaurants nowadays. I normally go for a couple of slices.

Everything aside, the pizza is good and I'll be going back soon.

This is by far the best pizza in the valley...

This is coming a Chicagoan who LOVES deep dish... That should tell you something about the quality of the Pizza! I love the atmosphere at Red Balls too. I often stop by during my lunch break, I work just down the street at Rocketdyne.

Red balls pizza will also be served for my birthday party this weekend... just love the stuff.

PS - if you want the best pizza, order a whole pie at a time, this way the toppings really get baked in.

So, if you scroll down far enough you'll see I was very critical about my first experience with Redballs.  I'd like to report on my second experience after a friend convinced me to go back.
This time, I went to pick up and I got to see the cool decor they have going on.  Some nice vintage punk and rock items, and a little stage for shows.  Apparently Ric Ocasek of The Cars played there once.  They had an old Hamer, 80s vintage I guess, and a guitar signed by Gorky Park among the collection. I'm a guitar guy so it was interesting to me.
Anyway... the pizza.  It was a good, tasty pie.  Not mind blowing, but much better this time, and certainly better than Dominos etc.  I had originally complained that the dough tasted like it was made with chlorinated water, but now I know I was wrong about that.  Maybe they had wiped the counters down with bleach that day.  No big deal.
The ladies working were nice, if overwhelmed.  The phone was blowing up and they were running around trying to juggle everything so it wasn't like I got to chat with them.
They only make one size I believe: large. Price was a bit more than I like to pay usually for a large, but they gotta make ends.
I couldn't in good conscience not update that previous review. I was starving and pretty grouchy when I was disappointed last time.

Now here is a place that makes great pizza! Yeah its a bit on the pricey side of town, but each pie is from what I remember 8 GIANT slices. I have only ordered their Brooklyn Pie; IMO it's already so good that there is no need for me to try anything else!  I'm not a fan of white sauce pizzas in general, but every time I go, my brother HAS to have some from here. I'm more of a fan of Chicago deep dish pizzas, but you will instantly fall in love with this thin crust phenomenon! I dunno how they do it but the crust on their pies are crunch, and flavorful on the outside, yet the dough inside is still warm and soft! The mixture of these two in the bread alone + the toppings on your pizza make this one of the best pizzas you'll eat in Southern California.

ORDER: The Brooklyn Pie (and I added Mushrooms)
QUALITY: Very fresh, pizza cooked perfect!
    TASTE: AMAZING!!

This was a take-out order, I have never dined in nor have I been there for their live music.

I've lived in the valley for a long time and have seen this place for years (ever since Moby Disc moved out)... and I have always been a pizza chain guy - never again!

I got two Groupons for this place and used my first one so far, I'm so happy I bought the second one! Regular price for the pizza would be around $25, but this can easily feed 3 - 4 people.

Next I will try a sandwich or pasta... I will be back for sure!

The best pizza in the valley but you need to clean yo oven. Everytime I order a pizza there is burnt crap on the bottom. 4 years ago when you ordered a slice they were of good size but they are shrinking. If I'm not mistaken the price has gone up as well. Smaller slices more costly....thats where the last star went.

Suggestions...lower your prices or make slices bigger...and CLEAN YOUR OVEN!

This pizza is as good as it's big.  And the pizza is gigantic.  They do an excellent thin crust with cheese and sauce oozing over the sides.  Seating is a little challenging with bigger parties as it's a bit tight.  They have a small stage in the back with live music.

I have been here twice now.

The first time I came here I had a meat ball pizza. It tasted great but I was a little bothered by how long it took to get the pizza. This was pretty much made up for by how nice and friendly the service was.

The next time I tried a pepperoni and some other stuff i forget but I thought it was even better than the first time. The pizza is very thin but it is not hard. It can be a little crispy but in a really good way.

I really wish it was a lot cheaper. If I could regularly afford to have three toppings on my pizza here I would come all the time.

The decor of this place is really cool. Come for the pizza stay here to eat it for all the really cool rock and roll memorabilia.

Delicious NY style pizza! I love everything about the pie here - thin crisp crust, tasty cheese, and perfectly seasoned sauce. The pies here are generous in size and worth the dough (bad pun...)

Pies aside, garlic bread is great, salads are fresh, and the bottled soda selection is nice. I also appreciate the funky decor and friendly staff who are always willing to accommodate special requests.

This review comes immediately after a 2-star review of some local Chicago-influenced yeast-monster pizza in the OC. Of course I am going to give this place 5 stars!

Most recently, I stopped here after some climbing at Stoney Point in Chatsworth. Located along Topanga Canyon right off of the 101 and immediately across the street from the mall, you could easily stop here during a trip through or around the Valley. As the story goes (I think), the place next door had a big sign which said "Redball's Laundry", "Redball's" being most prominent. Rock & Roll pizza, on the other hand, simply advertised "Pizza". Hence, to any innocent by-standard, this place looked like "Redball's Pizza". I guess the name stuck. Hell, it's a damn good name for a pizza place.

Be prepared to step out of LA and be transported to NY. Small and adorned with various signed pictures of rockers, whom you may or may not recognize, this place is most certainly "Rock & Roll". The pies, yes, pies as they are called, come in one size only -- which will not fit through your typical passenger car door, so keep your trunk cleared if you plan to take this back with you. Foldable and thin, with a crispy crust, this is how pizza should be made. The only thing I missed was more of a charred black bottom to the pie. I suppose they clean their ovens more often here than they do back East. Oh well.

Having lived within walking distance of this place for a brief stint, this place was absolutely a life saver when we didn't cook. Best local pizza and so far the best I have found in California, by a long shot. If you are from the East coast, this place is a must.

holy redballs, this pizza is SO flippin' good.

they import their dough, not just their water (as ive heard of some ny pizza and bagelrys doing before) and i dont know, but wow. it tastes pretty dang authentic to the slices ive tasted in new york and new jersey.

we got delivery, so i had to re-heat my slices in our toaster oven to achieve the crisp, thin crunch that i love so much...but no worries.

we got a white pie and a pepperoni with mushroom and both were great.

delivery on a friday night was surprisingly quick too...

not the cheapest place around but i'll for sure order again and again.

This place was great. Great service. Super nice people. My husband and I ordered the Brooklyn Pie and a small side salad. The pizza was out in no time. There was a slight defect in our pizza, just a little hole in the center of the pizza. We didn't mind the hole, it was probably the size of a quarter. But, the server insisted that they give us an extra slice of pizza.

Very cool! Honestly, we didn't care about the hole, we were jazzed about the fast service.

Pizza was good. Tasty and fresh. Not too much cheese, sauce or toppings, a good balance.

The place was really small so either order to go or get there before the 6 pm crowd.

There's a stage for musicians to play, so it can be a cool little hangout for friends.

    Check it out!

This place is very hidden that if you are not looking you can easily miss it. There is no entrance through the back so you have to enter through Topanga. I am stuck between 3 1/2 and 4 stars, it isn't the best pizza but certainly one of the better ones in the valley.

The nice thing about this place it has a variety of toppings so you can literally make your own personalized pizza. I am more of a carnivour so I piled it with all meat toppings. I am not a big fan of New York style pizza but it was pretty decent for thin bread pizza. The crust was cripsy on the outside just about right.

The service here is great and everything is made fresh. The decor of the joint is somewhat eccentric that will keep your eyes wondering while the wait. Will definitely be making another venture to this little spot.

NEW YORK PIZZA LOVERS UNITE! This place is great! I have been longing for some good New York style pizza ever since I moved to LA from NY 18 years ago! I haven't found anything this good since. The owner is cool, the vibe in the restaurant is cool, and the rock and roll theme to the place is cool - but not overdone. It is done just right. Great spot for kids too (my kids love it there).

If you are looking for some great Pizza in the Woodland Hills area, look no further. This is the place. I met someone from the East coast the other night, and told her about Redballs. I went in the next night and there she was eating with her family, and LOVING IT! I know she will be back often, as I think she will be addicted as much as I am.

The owner told me that the dough is shipped in from the NY area. If that isn't dedication to making a good pie, then I don't know what is! Go in and get a slice, you'll be hooked!

so my husband easily loved this place. the guy at the register seemed cool and told us to sit anywhere we like and just let him know whatever we wanted. he also prepared our pizza and later handled our bill. he was like the all-in-one man until his sidekicks arrived. lots of memorabilia even on the ceiling. i imagine it's fun to hang out here, but i don't remember a beer list. did spot an atm indoors.

the pizza was delish. probably not the best i've had but i did see a plaque saying it's the 1st runner up for best gourmet pizza in the west or something like it. we got the brooklyn which looked balding as the pepperoni was disappointingly sparse. having said that, we will be back to try others.

They have moved and are no longer at this location.  They are sharing space with The Rack in Woodland Hills.

Was waiting for American Tire Co to finish up my car and went here for lunch because it is the only walking-distance place besides Carls Jr [yuck].

Really fun atmosphere, and the owners were true blue rock n roll and also very nice. Did the1 slice special for around $7...got mushroom slice and salad and drink (free refills).

    Will be back!

Wow finally a place that serves some amazing new york pizza! I've been looking for a new place to get some good pizza and I have finally found the spot. Redballs pizza is a the place to get some delicious pizza. I've driven by this place many times and have always wanted to try it. I finally decide to try it and I was not disappointed!

I ordered half cheese pizza and half of the brooklyn pie which has pepperoni, sliced meatballs, and crumbled sausage. Wow was it good. The cheese pizza has a lot of flavor and is very cheesy. The brooklyn pie was also very tasty with all the different kinds of meat in the pizza.

Prices aren't too bad either for this place since its the only one around here. It's a plus too because they lowered their prices from before by a good amount. Only bad thing about this place I would say is that they charge extra for take out and the crust lacked flavor and was a bit hard. Other than that, I will be coming here from now on when I feel like a good slice of pizza.
