Sometimes when we tell out-of-towners we're taking them to a restaurant on the water, they sort of laugh at us. No bother, once they get there they see what we're talking about. Red Rock Canyon Grill sits right on the water on Lake Hefner's East Wharf, and takes full advantage of the beautiful lake views. During warm weather months, enjoy the patio, or get a drink and listen to music at the gazebo while you wait for your table.

Inside pony, up to the bar for expertly mixed favorites and good people watching, though on more than one occasion the bar has struck me as a meat market for OKC's upper middle class baby boomers, but here even mid-lifers on the prowl are friendly. The wine list is small but mighty, with lots of Napa, Sonoma, Spring River, and Carneros wines. Perhaps this is an homage to the Rutherford Grill in Napa, with which Red Rock shares more than a few similarities. In any case, I'm happy because seeing this wine list feels like checking on old friends and takes me back to the vineyards from whence they came. Try the Rodney Strong Meritage, the Caymus Cab Sav, or the Saintsbury Chardonnay. Somewhere an angel will get wings.

Over on the food menu, find one of my all time fave dishes in the big town- the nice 'little' house salad. Little is in quotes because it is bigger than your face. So share if you must, but this salad knocks me off my chair every time. What I sometimes do is order the Cluck-n-Moo or Cluck-n-Oink (I know, terrible names) to split because that is a massive amount of food, and then get a little house salad for each of us. Mr K loves the bunkhouse St. Louis ribs, and since I don't eat ribs, that leaves plenty rotisserie chicken for yours truly. The food is so delish, I really don't care what they call it, and maybe it is nice to take a moment and remember that a piggy or a chicken or a cow is the reason for this present deliciousness.

Their steaks are also wonderful, and be sure and hear about their specials before you've made up your mind for good. For that, you'll need to check with your sever. There is something your server will say about a dozen times that will likely drive you mad: "Is everything wonderful this evening?" Which to me is sort of like saying, "Don't I look amazing tonight?" I almost docked them a star for that nonsense- which is not like really asking me at all! Just ask me in a nice normal way if I need anything else, need a refill, or would like another glass of wine. I always have to refrain from busting out with a smart aleck remark, which I do by remembering this isn't something my server CHOOSES to say, this is something some honcho makes them say. It sounds presumptive and makes me feel like they're not really asking for my opinion on the matter. Again, not the server's fault.

Go to Rock Rock. Sit outside if you can. Order a steak, drink good wine, enjoy the view, hold hands with your honey. Think about how lucky we all are that we even have the luxury to be concerned with what a waiter does or does not say. I feel like you'll end up leaving a few of your concerns on the shores of Lake Hefner.

I have to admit that I was not thrilled to find out I had to take a business trip to Oklahoma... but I must now retract those earlier sentiments - OKC is actually a pretty cool place, and the Red Rock Canyon Grill helped to shape my opinion.

A colleague and I had the night off and decided to find a nice place for dinner.  After some Yelping we settled on Red Rock Canyon Grill.

3 words: Cluck and Moo.  Rotisserie chicken and beef tenderloin. Amazing.  The mashed potatoes were amazing as well.
We also had the stuffed poblano appetizer was which equally amazing. amazing, amazing, amazing.

I'm not sure if the excessive number of adult beverages consumed that night contributed to my glowing review, but I can't think of one single negative thing.  There was a bit of a wait, but grab a drink at the outdoor bar and watch the sunset over the lake from an Adirondack chair and you won't notice the time.  Also of note - the drinks are very generously poured, if you know what I mean.

Tortilla soup, with extra avocado.  I am in love.  A classier place then their entree titled "cluck and moo" would suggest...Excellent food, just needs a menu re-write.  ;)

Had a great evening with friends for dinner and drinks here! Great wine list with reasonable prices, and several menu choices. The service was impeccable - our servers were attentive yet gave us the space we wanted! Portions were generous - we got the chicken enchiladas, the pork chops, the ribeye, and the filet... all were excellent, and more than we could eat. Can't wait to go back! Oh - and you can't beat the view of Lake Hefner. They have a sprawling patio with a fire pit!

Sit on the patio, looks over the water, enjoy your cocktail, and realize that Red Rock Canyon Grill is the closest you'll get to watching a sunrise / sunset over the ocean in OKC.

Prices are decent for drinks, and the food's a little pricier than other OKC establishments - but well worth it for the relaxed atmosphere and Lake Hefner views. The tortilla chip appetizer is greasy, and the pimento cheese spread that comes with it is just plain bizarre. Skip that and order something else.

I had the Salmon.  Completely awesome!  Cooked perfectly, great taste and very accommodating service.  Atmosphere was perfect as well.  This is one that I would go out of my way to eat at again.

Great place. I was in OKC for the weekend and wanted to eat some place that wasn't a chain. We ate here on a Saturday night. The place was packed. The service was top notch. I had the cluck n oink plate. Great smokey taste with a tasty sweet BBQ sauce. My girlfriend had the chicken enchiladas. Decent enchiladas for a non-Mexican restaurant. I will definitely head back the next time we are in town.

Great location on the water.  Good bar selection, although not too varied.  Food was above average and the service was better than most.  Prices reasonable, as well.

Great place.  Wonderful location!!  Love when the sun sets, the staff raise the blinds, and as the sun sets someone starts ringing a cow bell and everyone starts clapping.  Very cool environment.

As far as the food. Delicious!!  I ordered the rotisserie chicken.  From what the waitress said, the chicken is seasoned with 31 different flavors.  You could tell it too!!!   Can't wait to go back.

-Best Ribeye in Okc for the price (but I haven't been to cattlemans or Boulevard)
-Waitstaff is trained like military precision
-I've never been disatisfied with any dish, nor has anyone in my group.

Fantastic! My cousin and I were on a cross country road trip (from Baltimore to Los Angeles) and decided to eat at Redrock Canyon Grill. It was AMAZING. The view was incredible, the service was the best, and the food was GREAT. The Bloody Mary with jumbo shrimp garnish was to die for. It was well worth the time and money. I totally recommend you eat here. Mind you, we took this trip in September '09, but I just wanted to let you all know that this restaurant is, hands down, one of the best restaurants I've eaten at EVER!!!!

Great food, great location on the lake with an awesome set up that fully takes advantage of the view.  They honor every sunset with a ring of the bell which is pretty cool.  The outside bar has an awesome vibe especially when the fire pit is lit.  Ask for the ribeye with gorgonzola cheese sauce, it's not on the menu.  Enjoy

They make my favorite meal in Oklahoma City. Medium Ribeye, Mashed New Potatoes and Brown sugar carrots. It doesnt get any better than that, and they do it sooo well. I have strayed from this normal course of action a few times and ordered the st. louis style ribs. You can pull the bones right out of the rack before you devour it. nuff said. Then I got a roasted chicken black bean quesadilla with chipotle pepper sauce..the chefs special that night. It was very worth it! I dont think you can fail with this dinner choice. It can be a little bit pricy though, fyi.

Came through OKC and first off: gotta say the location is beautiful- overlooking the lake, they celebrate the sunset every day by opening up all the blinds and ringing a bell.

Love the communal set up of the wait staff -  they made it clear that anyone on the staff can be flagged down at anytime for anything. Waters and drinks were filled quickly and needs were met expediently.

I had the rib eye with steamed vegetables and it was juicy, thick and tender (---insert cheesy joke here---). But seriously the place was great in that 40-50 year old white professionals on date night - kinda way. Which to me, means lots of wood paneling, good eats and generous portions.

I heard the meat loaf and the pork chops are excellent as well. Had a glass of wine, appetizers and a steak for about 50 bones.

Food is amazing no matter what you order. The salad is the best salad in okc. Their desserts are amazing no matter what they have that night. And the carrots are rediculous. My wife hates carrots, but she could eat RR's as a meal.

wonderful location, so-so food and weirdly compulsive use of the word, "great."

went here around sunset and sat outside by the lakefront in perfect weather, so couldn't ask for more in terms of the ambience. this made it worth coming out here...the food not as much. it wasn't bad, but it wasn't really anything special. the one thing i can remember is the stuffed poblano appetizer, which was decent. the salmon i had was a little dry and the seasoning was uninspired.

oh, and i have to add that i was half-amused, half-annoyed by the waitstaff's use of the word, "great." "Is everything great so far?" "Is the food great?" "Are we doing great tonight?" will have to ask about that if i go out here again. ;)

This is one of my favorite restaurant in the OKC. Their use of lake front is great. Try to get there during the sunset.

Their food is generally pretty good and consistent. They would have received 4 stars but their services are inconsistent. Some waiters/waitress are good while most of them are aloof.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Oklahoma City. Not only is the atmosphere great, but the food is fantastic. Get the rotisserie chicken. It's their specialty, and the portions are big enough to share with your friend. If you like food with a little spice, try the stuffed poblano. Stuffed with black beans, pulled chicken, veggies and cheese, then breaded and deep fried topped with salsa verde and chipotle sour cream. Delicious. A great place for a date.

Best place in town! Awesome food, especially the rotisserie chicken. The best time to eat here is when the sun is going down and you are enjoying the lakeview with good food and good drinks.
