I can only say here about the skate park.
Its so nice to use, but why are there bicycles allowed.
Not too safe.
All of park nice, but I just try small ramp when no one else there.
I can't seem to figure out if Redwood City has neighborhoods. But, when I say I live next to Red Morton Park, everyone seems to know what I'm talking about. And I do think I'm lucky to have Red Morton as a neighbor. Here's some of the cool things it offers:
-ICE CREAM TRUCKS! As an adult, I felt like I couldn't run over in joy to the ice cream truck, but you'd better believe I walked briskly.
-Guys who ride around on bicycles selling shaved ice, chips, corn on the cob, etc.
- Tennis courts along with a rare tennis practice wall
-A rose garden for all your flower-smelling needs
-A skate park where all the 10-year-old boys with mad skills actually inspired me to pick up a skateboard. If they can do it, I can do it, right?
I'll be there every weekend-- what else is there to do?
Ah, the childhood memories!
Rollerblading with friends down the paved pathways;
lying on gentle, grassy slopes and looking up at a vivid, partly cloudy sky;
ogling the guys on the baseball fields and football pitches;
playing tennis with my cousins on the courts, or just hitting balls against the big wooden wall; and
amazing orchid shows, cheesy painting classes, and even cheesier guitar lessons at the community center.
This is a great neighborhood resource for Redwood City residents. If you're looking for a park with obscure pathways and creeks winding through thick masses of trees though, this isn't it. This park is more of a paved, urban creation, a "sports 'n' activities" park and not a "let's find a secluded spot to meditate/make out/commune with nature" type of park. Still, it's good stuff and it's a vital asset to RWC.
(By the way, if you're looking for playground/jungle gym type structures for the young 'uns I would suggest Stafford Park instead. They're available here but they're a small, relatively neglected portion of this huge park, and unless your kids are at least seven years old or so most of this park will be pretty useless to them.)
I hadn't been here in years (What happened to the caboose?) I mean many years. I think the last time was when part of the park was the 49'ers training facility. We came for an engagement party on a sunny sunday afternoon and it's a great place for that or any party with a picnic area that you can reserve for the day. There are barbeque pits and a nice playground that is set up for toddlers and children and a huge well manicured lawn to play on.
The family atmosphere is great your party will not be alone.
I absolutely love this park. My boyfriend and his friends who are on softball teams always have their games here. They recently added two new turf fields which is nice during the rainy season, but I've never been to a park which is more fake than real. There are signs all over that say no dogs on the field, but no one seems to mind if you're just running across the field. I think as long as your dog doesn't start to dig or eat the field and you clean up after its mess, no one bothers you.
There's a play ground for kids and a skate park as well. There's a hidden horseshoe area in the back too. Right next to it is an area with a lot of picnic benches and BBQs as well.
Oh, and if you're in the mood for ice cream, you're in luck! The ice cream man stops by all the time!
Love this park!!!!!
Many moons ago, I would come here, with friends, and play volleyball. This place is big, and there is enough room to run your dog or jog for a few hours. We would take over a small patch of grass and be there for hours, till it got dark. There is no alcoholic beverages allowed, BUT, if your cool and there are alot of you, AND your all being cool if the local pd stops by, we have had them tell us....as long as when we drive by and don't see it, its not there......soooooooo keep it in the bag people.
This is a great place for day trips with the kids, and I have always meet very cool and nice people here. My friends still come here, every Wednesday to play v-ball, but alas, awhile back I bent my left ankle over 90 degrees, twice in a minute, so I cant play anymore...sniff, sniff..
But as an old friend said, " just go and say hi, its all the old fools still".
So to see all my old fools and " hommies" I go, and still have one hell of a time.
When I go to RMP, I am there to see my kid practice sport. I like the skate park, but to many unsupervised teens(MY Experience: a bully was beating up a smaller kid and no one said anything but I just had to stop the fight I approched the kids anoucing my self as a parent and the bully stood in front of my face and sreammed at me;0(.. so I called the police. which got there soon) but any ways I think this park is a busy park and need more supervision of parents or police??? I would not let my kids be at the park unsupervised, but then again my kid is not a teenager?.
Overall the park is great for family&friends party.
Great to walk your dog (leash please).
Great to take a date to walk at the park if you want everyone to see you:0).
I love this park. I have been going to this community park for years now. I have thrown birthday parties here and been to several of them as well. The park is well maintained and not hard to find. There is plenty of parking spaces available and their fees for renting a space are very reasonable. I think I paid $20 to reserve and area that held 20 people. I never had a problem with anyone using our space when we got there, but if there was you print out your confirmation and that's what you use to make them move:) The place is not ghetto at all and it is very kid friendly.
