Always great food and outstanding service.
Crabfest was great! -

A typical Red Lobster. I had a lunch with a few friends here as ongoing Four course for $15 deal and soon expiring gift card. Food was fine. The service was great.
I started with Clam Chowder Soup which was pretty tasty and not too salty(surprise!). Never really liked their salad. My entree was breaded shrimp as I know if I ordered other shrimp, it would be too salty. Once the breading was going, the shrimp was pretty tender and fresh. The brownie dessert with vanilla ice cream was the best part!
I also tried a few bites of wood grilled Tilapia which was tasty and tender (should have ordered that). Shrimp with Alfredo pasta was fine but it was kind of salty. The complimentary bread was as good as I remembered but also on the salty side though. As quite a few yelpers pointed out below, they put too much salt in almost everything.
Our server was very nice and helpful. -

Came here with some friends for the "4 course meal for $15" deali-o they have going on right now. They went with the special, but I opted to get the lobster/scallops/shrimp/mussels linguine pot + salad instead. However, the 4 for $15 is a really good deal cause they give you a TON of food! Did someone say leftovers? Plus unlimited biscuits and all that good stuff.
So everyone knows the cheddar biscuits are pretty much the best part. The rest of my meal was good, but I've had better (comparing Red Lob seafood to the seafood I had in the Eiffel Tower probably isn't a good idea, but it's hard to get that experience out of my mind :p). Anyway, the scallops, lobster tail, shrimp and pasta were all cooked well and tender, but there was definitely WAY too much salt. Plus it kind of felt like something was missing. The presentation was pretty nice as well, but the overall meal just didn't hit my "this is AWESOME" button.
Our server probably didn't help with my Red Lob experience...I think he was recently hired because he had no idea what he was doing. You could tell he was trying really hard, but he kept forgetting critical things like, ohh FLATWARE! We were seriously waiting with our soups/salads for ~10 minutes. We started eating the salad with our hands because we were so hungry. Not cool man. It also took a really long time for appetizer plates, napkins, refill biscuits, water refills, a second plate (we split), the check, a pen for the check, etc.
While the whole situation was really amusing for us, it was kind of awkward how we kept having to ask the OTHER server to bring us stuff that our server kept forgetting to bring. I guess we all have to go through that learning phase though...
Oh and dessert. I tried the apple crostata and my husband tried the key lime pie...both were really good! Plus I love that the crostata was steaming hot, which only added to its deliciousness.
Overall, Red Lobs is alright, but I personally prefer something a bit more upscale when it comes to seafood. Unless they have specials, I don't think paying the full price for an entree here is worth it when you can get something so much better a few miles away in Oakbrook. -

I need to come here with it's endless shrimp! Can't believe I haven't! But their $15 for a 4 course meal definitely brought me in!
Starters:
Clam Chowder Soup - pretty good and flavorful
House Salad - just like any other salad
Entree:
Wood grilled tilapia - tilapia doesn't have much flavor, but WOW did they cook this to nicely. It was extremely tasty and not over cooked! Enjoyed it!
Dessert:
Brownie a la mode - hmmmm warm brownie with ice cream how can you NOT like it?
As for the boyfriend he had their seafood shrimp trio (fried, scampi, and alfredo shrimp) - he really enjoyed all of it besides the fried, but that's personally reference. I also tried the alfredo portion and really liked it because it was light on the sauce, but still packed a punch!
Service: our server was great. Since I had asked her for fat-free dressing/balsamic and vinegar she caught on that I was on a diet so when I told her I didn't want sour cream or butter on my potato she asked if I would like it salt free also? Of course I said yes! But seriously how many servers will ask you that? Awesome! -

I admit...I am a fan of red lobster. I love their endless shrimp....and their lobster bisque...
the $15.00 4-course meal is an AWESOME deal and you get a lot of food for that money! -

Salty, simply put salty.
I am not one to often go to chain restaurants, and unfortunately this visit was a example of why. I went here with my sister after we were running around doing different things. She had a gift card so we decided to use it and have fun.
The cheesy bread rolls were good as always but that is basically where the enjoyment ended.
We ordered the king crab legs and they were a bit mushy and VERY salty, I could feel myself being preserved from the inside out. The salad was lacking green lettuce and was a little wilted and in general a disappointing meal.
The only thing giving this review two stars instead of one was the service. Our server was excellent, fun and helpful. Overall a disappointment. -

Red Lobster is one of those "it is what it is" places. You kind of know what you are going to get. They have a few items that are fabulous like the cheddar biscuits, stuffed mushrooms and a few entrees. Other items are fair to average.
It can be pricey, depending on what you order but you end up getting quite a bit of food since you get a salad and all-you-can-stuff-into-your-face biscuits with entrees. You can save a little bit of money going for lunch but the portions are a little smaller.
The service, we have found, is hit or miss. Sometimes we have had good service (never great) and sometimes it has been poor. Just like any restaurant, it really depends on your server. -

Going to Red Lobster was a treat when you were a kid and going with your parents. Today, you are right, it is a "is what it is" place.
Went for lunch due to a Christmas gift certificate. Went for an early lunch (11:30) to not catch any crowd. Service was very good. Friendly, nice, attentive, no problems.
Had the make your own plate or whatever it is called. Garlic shrimp scampi and breaded clam strips. Salad was fine. For $10 it was an OK lunch, baked potato was rather small. Not a bad value.
My biggest health guidance would be to take a pass on their "world famous biscuits" even though they are free. To me they are dry and not that flavorful. And the are CERTAINLY not worth the 150 calories a shot, it is not worth 15 minutes on the eliptical.
Overall, not bad, good service and quick.
I think Red Lobster tries and on many levels they succeed but it could be better and they need to progress and try new things. My two cents. -

I've only been here for dinner. My wife and in-laws love the place so we go here when cooking was not on the plan for the day. Decent menu, good service, but not really that special.

Red Lobster: For the seafood lover and Jew!
My wife loves her some Red Lobster, boy howdy. Being the best husband in the world I oblige her this fetish of hers as often as I can and such an occasion arose last night. She had completed the first of a few steps towards realizing her dream of becoming an RN so a bit of celebrating was in order, west suburban style!
Normally that would involve eye-talian beef and watching My Cousin Vinny backwards with the Spanish audio track but our DVD player was mad at us over our accidentally Netflixing "The Break-Up" with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. We're sorry, Mintak DVD player!
Anyhoo, the Cheeseburger in Paradise was too busy so we settled on 'Da Lob for our celebratory dinner. Baby in tow we were seated pretty quickly (+1 star to 4) and even got our drink order taken and delivered promptly. Unfortunately that was the last part of the meal we truly enjoyed.
My wife ordered their super mega deluxe Lobster feast plate, I the BBQ shrimp and chicken. We shared calamari as an appetizer. The 'mari was... ok. At best. It had fried broccoli and red peppers as well which made it passable but it was nothing to write home, or on Yelp, about.
While waiting for our salads, the main entrees came out but with the wrong potatoes on both plates. We got that rectified and then a minute later our waitress came around with the salads and apologized for their tardiness. It was like a bad circus act surrounding our table as plates were laid down, picked up and juggled about.
The food was alright. My bbq shrimp and chicken were cooked fine, the sauce a combination of KC Masterpiece and cream of chicken soup. I mean that literally, I'll try reproducing it later. My wife's plate, however, left much to be desired. Her lobster pasta was good but the actual lobster tails - the stars of the dish and namesake of the restaurant - were tough and overcooked to the point of in-edibility. She rarely, and I want to overemphasize ra-air-air-air-air-air-ly complains about her food when we eat out but in this case she had to.
The manager took it off our bill, my Jewish guilt led me to leave an over 30% tip and we went home with some leftovers. I don't think this experience turned us off of Red Lobster but next time she's fiending for some seafood I'll definitely think twice about coming here. -

Is there a person who does not like Red Lobster?
This Red Lobster in particular has been around my entire life and we've always come a couple of times a year (it was only my parents and me - we ate out a lot). They remodeled a couple of years back, so the restaurant is modern and everything is new.
The food is always good and in recent years they've added new, modern appetizers and entrees. The Spinach Artichoke and Crap dip appetizer is delicious, as well as the fish and chips entree. Those are two of my favorites. Then there's the never-ending lobster a few times a year, never-ending shrimp and all sorts of other great entrees. They also have non-seafood items for those who aren't really in the mood.
Oh, and the biscuits that come before the meal - absolutely amazing!! I'd go to Red Lobster just for the biscuits because, hey, they're so awesome it's unbelievable. -

I know...I can't believe I'm reviewing this chain restaurant. But, this is for those of you who've been to Red Lobster before... Well, I've experienced better.
I mean, this is a relatively inexpensive restaurant that has delicious cheesy biscuits that are a heart plugger and a half, but to die for. Other than that, drinks are weak and over priced, and food is typical average chain seafood restaurant style.
The last time we went there, we stopped in for a quick lunch. It was almost empty. Server came by fairly quickly and was mostly efficient. My salad came out, and literally about 20 seconds later a random flying bug flew straight to my lettuce and landed on it while I was attempting to shelter my food. Argh. It wouldn't leave, and I had to remove half my salad. I have no idea what possessed me to order soda, but it arrived and was super sweet and flat. Our food arrived and for some reason it just wasn't very good. Lukewarm, kind of rubbery.... very sad looking.
I'm not expecting seafood heaven here, but c'mon. The server then proceeded to talk her head off to other tables about her grandma, her dogs, and what the hell ever else. While managing to ignore us for about 10 minutes. Super cool. And the place was practically empty. Grrrr.
So, I have to say, I'm not going back here again. It was one of those quick spots for a cheap, no surprises lunch--- but surprise!!! It was horrible. I couldn't take enough Tums when I got home, and my fiance had a tummy ache as well. There are plenty of better restaurants in the area. -

Over the years it has seemed that Red Lobster goes up and down in quality and service. The latest experience, about a week ago, was a good one. I ordered the rainbow trout and my wife ordered some kind of combo crab platter. We also had the clam chowder - good as usual. The fish was fresh-tasting, the crab legs, a bit tough to crack (too soft), but the meat in the crab platter was good. The cheddar biscuits, as usual, were great and way too fattening. The service was friendly, quick and good, but then, we got there at the start of the Friday evening dinner rush. It was quite a bit more crowded when we left.

We saw the new ads on TV for the grilled lobster, etc. It was about 3 in the afternoon and we were ready for a late lunch-early dinner. Ordered the sirloin and lobster combo. It came with a decent salad and fries. Lobster was a little tough and dry but good size. The steak had a good flavor and was acceptable. I had a beer and my wife had a coke. My problem is that I hate to spend 57.00 with tip in what feels like a fast food restaurant. I always regret it even tho I told my wife it will be a $50.00 lunch. It was the slowest I have seen the restaurant in a busy shopping area. But It was pretty early. For the same money, go to Pappadeaux. But that's another review.

I was so excited that I was going to Red Lobster...those biscuits, the buttery fat shrimp scampi, and the shrimp Alfredo. My usual order when I take my granny to lunch. However RL was off and I didn't like it. My food was cold and void of all flavor. Our waitress was really nice and treated my granny with care. I'm sure I will give them another chance but was very disappointed this time around
