6 reviews for Red Lion Hotel
A decent price on a holiday weekend. A room with one queen bed was 99 a night on the 4th of July.
Pros: Clean and newer rennovations. FREE wireless internet (which should be a given at any three-star or greater hotel) and it's pretty fast.
Cons: really crappy TV: there shouldn't be static on cable telivision. Extremely overpriced breakfast; mixed berries, yogurt, granola and a beverage for $13 plus a 18% service fee. I'm familiar with room service charges but considering the typical patron at this location, they should reconsider their pricing.
So three stars because it's a-ok. I would stay here again at the same rate.
I'm a little disappointed for the price we paid. First, the restaurant was closed but we were told that we could order room service and that the food was great. The person who checked us in told us this 3 times before we went to our room. We did not order room service. There are a lot of open restaurants around the hotel within walking distance.
The room was mostly clean, but the AC blows directly on almost every piece of furniture in the room. It smells musty and dusty, not exactly what someone with allergies wants from AC.
The ice machine is broken. The deck is dirty and full of cobwebs.
I am not impressed. If we stayed at the Motel 6 next door, it would have been cleaner.
Preface: I didn't actually stay at the Red Lion. I am way too cheap for that. Instead, I stayed next door, at the Motel 6. This review will only address the bar at the Red Lion.

After Spending $100 at the Applebee's across the street (hopefully that's a first and a last), I somehow ended up at the bar at the Red Lion. Admittedly, I was tired, sad and a little drunk and totally not prepared for what I found.
The first thing that struck me was that the bar tender was in a pit. His face came up to about crotch-height, yet the bar top was completely regular in-terms of its dimensions. It appeared as though he could easily rest his chin on the counter should his neck get sore from looking up at the patrons.
The band was fantastic, albeit a little surreal. They belted out your favorite hits from the 70's and 80's much to the pleasure of the dance floor crowd.
There was an interesting mix of folks. You had your I-5 travelers, conference attendees, Redding locals and two women who am I convinced were prostitutes. The older people really seemed to be into dancing, which I watched with great zeal. It was kinda like being at that wedding reception when you were 12 and your dad is drunk and poorly doing the mashed potato with someone that isn't your mother - funny and awkward.
Love it.

I stayed here over the holiday. The bathroom tiles were broken along the edge of the shower, but overall, the room and bath were extremely clean. The room itself was a bit musty-smelling. Room service came EARLY (before 8 am, and I forgot the "do not disturb" hanger on the door), but overall, everyone was friendly. I didn't partake in any of the amenities outside of the room, so I can't comment there.
Worth the $70 an night I paid through priceline, but nothing spectacular.
Good midscale hotel for when you're in the area. Family-friendly as well with a huge main swimming pool next to a kiddie pool, a whirlpool and the small but adequate fitness center. Good enough for after a day of going to Shasta or the national parks or Turtle Bay nearby.
Large lobby with high ceiling but kinda old-ish looking. Due for a renovation which they may have done since I went.
As with other Red Lions, you can expect pillowtop beds and free wifi.

I have been here a few times, my last visit which was a quick visit ,we decided to have lunch at the red lion.Remembering the last time i went there, there macadamia crusted halibut with poached pear and sweet vinaigrette salad was actually quite good.Having a craving for a salad we decided to go here.Well first off it was pretty dead in there and it took about 5 minute for the "So busy" waitress to get us menus.Looking around the place looked a little dirty, with one other group of people in there you think they might have time to like maybe clean a table.Anyhow I was starving and wanted the salad. So are food arrives and i was slightly disappointed, the poached pear was like the size a a small tangerine, the orange slices looked as is they were just thrown on there, I guess I had a great cook last time i was there and they were into presentation that night, other than that it was still good not the best .My rating s are low due to the lack of good customer service and lack of cleanliness.
