10 reviews for Red Lion Hotel
Hotel, fine. A little overpriced for what it was, but decent. Clean, and the bed was all right (major issue for me and Mr. Vegetarian, as we are both on the bulkier side of things).
One bright note: Mr. Vegetarian left his special memory foam body pillow there, and Nanette on the housekeeping staff not only FedExed it to us at our next stop, but also phoned to let me know the tracking number so I could track the pillow. Thanks, Nanette.
We stopped for the night in Eureka and got a room at the Red Lion. We have stayed at Red Lions before and found them to be decent. This one was decent, but at a better hotel price. This was the most expensive hotel of our trip and we stayed at the far nicer Double Tree in Portland for less.
The real plus for this place is the front desk staff. Both the night staff and the day staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming. It is always nice to get good customer service.
The experience at the in-hotel restaurant, the Pacific Grill, is another matter altogether and I have reviewed it separately.
I wanted this experience to warrant the higher room price, but this just struck me as a higher price for being probably one of the nicer places in town that you are stuck with when on the road. The pool was supposed to have been heated, but was tepid at best. It is cool that they take pets, not many places do. I would recommend trying to get a cheap rate on http://Hotels.com for this place. Then it would be worth it.
Stayed here 2 days with our two dogs to get out of the valley heat. Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Maybe a little outdated decor but well kept. We didn't eat there, did the tourista thing and explored. Surprisingly one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. No complaints really. Maybe a little expensive but this was about the best for a mid-range hotel they've got around here. (We checked prices, they were all about the same) We'd stay here again.
Stayed overnight after an 11 hour drive from the L.A. area. The staff was very nice, but wasn't thrilled with the room. Faced the Main St., and the room was quite noisy, clean but worn, the carpet was stained. I found the bed to be to soft, and the small pillows uncomfortable. There was an open hole with wires exposed from the previous smoke detector, a new one had been installed elsewhere in the room. It was sufficient for the night, but would choose another town if traveling through the area again.
Adequate, but nothing special. Dogs are allowed in some rooms, but the setting is basically a big parking lot next to 101 on one side and a vacant lot and light industry on the other. Eureka itself is kind of a dud town. My suggestion: spend as long as you can in the Redwoods and other nearby attractions, which are incredible world-class gorgeous, then roll in for dinner and bed. Not a place to hang out.
Stayed here 1 night for a business trip with a small group of people. Free WiFi and room service dinner saved me while I was trying to get a bunch of work done before a meeting the next morning. Room was clean, hotel staff friendly. Didn't use their facilities like the pool, gym or hot tub. But it was definitely a decent place at a reasonable price and PERFECTLY suited for business travel.
Oh, and I should mention, that if you are stuck in your room working, room service even delivers bar service. This in and of itself is worth 4 stars.
Only "brand name" hotel in the area, at least that I noticed. Didn't stay here but did take a look around in case I ended up needing to stay overnight.
Easy to find. Hotel takes up the entire block. There are two on-site restaurants. Gym and small outdoor pool. Plenty of parking. Free wifi. Close to old town. They said the lobby had been renovated (March 2006) but it didn't look super special to me. Also said all the rooms were in the process of being renovated as well, which means pillowtop beds!
Guess I'm the only one that thinks 130/night for a roadside hotel in the middle of nowhere is exorbitant. Was driving down Oregon coast to San Francisco and this was the only place that took dogs that was a chain. The front staff, room service and the chef from the restaurant were all incredible kind and gracious. If the price were lower I would be more favorable but seeing that I spent more for a night in the Red Lion then I did for the St Francis in San Francisco is crazy.
Stayed here overnight on business. Friendly staff. Mini bed pillows -what's up with those?- Restaurant rated 3+ * but no more than a 2. Ordered club sandwich, for bacon they used 'bacon bits' . Also had a hard time using a coupon the front desk had given me. Once you are seated, they tell you the coupon is only good on 3 entrees. I think a Travel Lodge or similar would be same amenities, cheaper than what I paid $130.00
The rooms are big but very old fashioed and in need of a makeover. I slept good here but couldn't figure out the shower with its very complicated fawcett control..whats the deal!! Reasonably priced for a weekday at 119. bucks out the door. Lots of restaurants around here. Try a better place...
