I have been craving TN BBQ for about a month and today, in my hungover state, only a pulled pork sandwich would do. So I drove myself out to Red Hot and Blue which is Memphis style BBQ. The sandwich was LOADED with pulled pork and once I mixed the sweet and the hot sauce together and slathered it on, it was almost like being at home. SO GOOD. I had the ribs too even though I am not a big fan of ribs and they were also YUM. And the hush puppies OMG perfect. I feel like I just went home for an hour.

This is barbeque as it should be.
This particular RH&B location looks a little pathetic from the outside, but all is righted once you're in the door. The place is filled with decor from the blues age and classic western gear. It's fun.
You must start with sweet iced tea, which will be served to you in your own invidual PITCHER. That's right. That's when you know this meal will be good.
And it is. My husband got the ribs, which he devoured. His hush puppies were awesome. I loved my pulled pork sandwhich, which I requested with the coleslaw on the side (usually it's on the sandwich, Memphis style). The potato salad was delicious.
There are multiple barbeque sauces available... mild, medium, hot, and sweet. I'm told that the hot sauce is actually very hot, and I enjoyed the mild.
All in all, fantastic and affordable!

I had been to the Red Hot and Blue in Irving/Los Colinas area when I first moved to Dallas (pre-yelp) and remembered not being impressed, but I had heard good things (and it's got a 4 star rating!) so I knew I needed to give it another shot so Aimee and I met here for lunch today.
We started with the spicy smoked sausage and cheese tray and it was yummy! The sausage was spicy but not too spicy for my "wimpy mouth" as some would call it and it wasn't dry. I had to stop myself from eating it so I would have room for my food.
I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got the delta double with pulled pork and ribs and I'm even so indecisive as to have my ribs 1/2 dry and half sweet. Yeah. That's me! I got potato salad and beans too , but really its all about the meat, right? I'm pretty much in love with the dry rub seasoning they put on my ribs and was super happy to find it was available on my table as well - so I could put it on my pulled pork too! Everything was pretty good - except our waitress was kind of slack. She totally ignored Aimee when she asked for more water and sort of acted like she didn't have time for us, but the food was good enough to make up for her less than stellar service - and she did pre-split our check so that was kind of nice.

I have frequented the Las Colinas/Irving location of Red Hot and Blue a few times. Twice with a friend when I was visiting Dallas and once after a long day of apartment hunting when I was considering moving to Las Colinas last summer.
The cool thing about having every other Friday off at work, is that I can meet Jen for lunch at places that would normally be to far for me to drive, eat and get back in a reasonable amount of time and it still be considered a "lunch hour."
I absolutely loved the spicy sausage and cheese tray that Jen ordered for an appetizer. What I loved even more is the fact that she doesn't like to eat leftovers and that I took the rest of the sausage home and ate them as a snack the next day.
I ordered the Stuffed Baked Potato with pulled pork. The waitress told me to be careful with the "hot" bbq sauce, but of course I didn't listen. It was awesome. Nothing better than a little salt from your tears to flavor your food.
My favorite thing on Red Hot and Blue's menu is the pecan cobbler, but alas, we were both too full for dessert on this trip.

Being a chain, this isn't the sexiest, down-dirtiest or funk-nastiest place you can find to eat ribs. Eating ribs is probably about 80% the meat and about 20% the experience. I would give this place full credit for the meat (if you like Memphis style, and I do) and an F when it comes to atmosphere.
It really has all the atmosphere of a Kohl's on a Wednesday night. Not, ahem, that I would know what a Kohl's on Wednesday night would be like, of course, but just saying, if I did, then... or it's how I imagine... never mind. I think you get the picture.
Man the ribs are good, though. Really, really good. The sides are kind of 'whatever'. Pretty good... nothing really stood out... but man the ribs, they are really good. 5-star ribs, 0-star ambiance and sides that are passable, but not inspiring. That's Red, Hot & Blue.

I was heading to Home Depot on Central because I just moved into a Duplex where the land lord tells me that I'm responsible for the lawn... get this... after I signed the lease, Hey I'm not going to say that I'm not a dumb-ass and I didn't read the small print where it stated that I take care of the lawn... but I did... the lady who showed me the place said that they took care of the lawn... she lied.
NOTE: Next time you sign a lease don't be in a hurry, take the lease to a Starbucks and go over it with a fine tooth comb, because it also turned out that I sold my soul to the Devil and I was saving that for something much better like a Go-Kart or trip to the Moon.
So any who, I'm driving down Central pissed off because I need to drop a few hundred on a lawn mower and a weed eater, I did try to find some kid to do it but what I was going to end up paying for that, I could and should get off my fat-ass and do it myself. I pass Walnut Hill I see Red Hot & Blue, it's where the old Improv was, I worked there in the early 90's. So I told myself that after I bought my new Lawn Mower and Weed Eater I was going to stop in for some Baby Back Ribs.
I pull in and sit at the bar, I just don't thinks it's cool taking a four seat booth up and screwing some waiter out of a bigger tip. This place offers more then just your regular BBQ ribs they have about 4 different kinds Like wet, dry, sweet, St. Louis... extra Cheesy.. Not really there's no such thing as extra Cheesy ribs. But they do have a nice selection of sides, mashed potatoes!
They have sandwiches, burgers and salads for those people who tell themselves that they are going to start eating right and then order the Fried Shrimp then spend the remainder of the night living in shame. They also have Catfish fingers, I didn't know that catfish had fingers.... Wait for it.... Wait for it... and the margaritas aren't bad; they don't taste like most frozen margarita machine taste... like a nice big cup of frozen chlorine.
The bartender was real cool, he even seemed half interested when I told him the story about the time when I was working at the Improv and we caught a couple having sex in the bathroom during a show.
All the waiters lined up outside of the stall and when the beautiful love making was over and they walked out, I looked at the women and said "I'm next." She shot out the door and completely out of the club. The guy, who seemed really relaxed stopped and washed his hands.
Turns out this couple would go out with their respected married other and they would hook up in bathrooms of places they hung out at while their "better half's" sat and laughed the night away while they where banging away on a toilet , man that's just plain classy!
But anyway, this is some good BBQ... but I don't recommend bathroom sex, there's only one stall and there's not always toilet paper handy.

I love all kinds of barbecue, and every once in a while, I need a memphis style pulled pork sandwich topped with tons of sauce and a little cole slaw. Red Hot and Blue always fits the bill.
The BBQ is consistently good and this location has amazing service. Now they have a combo where you can get a couple ribs, smokes sausage, a side, and a pulled pork sandwich all on one plate, so you can bet I was in hog heaven.
The BBQ is definitely great, but the reason this location gets the extra star is the service was great. On Saturday we were served by "Marty" and I gotta say I'm not used to service that's attentive without being intrusive for less than $50 per person. The kid had hustle and that's all there is to it.

Ultra helpful and friendly staff, plus decent wings to boot. A lively and welcoming place that's situated off in its own area away from all the hubbub and nonsense over by the mall area. I've never failed to see a huge range of people enjoying their time here.
It's probably rare on Yelp for vegetarians to review BBQ joints. But since Stephanie did such a good job on talking up the actual meat, I figured I'd give a shout out to what I eat when I visit my fam and go to Red Hot & Blue- what up, potato salad? My mom is so crazy for this stuff (understandably so), I had to get some to go for her 50th birthday party.

I am craving this right now. Want some really good BBQ? Here is the place! The ribs are award winning and the pulled pork sandwiches are something to dream about. Eat in or take out. If you are near any of the locations, be sure to stop in! http://www.redhotandbl...
