Red Garnet Beads & Buttons has a unique and diverse selection of beads, buttons and beading supplies crammed into a small space in Mountlake Terrace, WA. The "button" portion of their store is limited to a single table offering individual buttons, but they have a unique and special variety to choose from.
There are several bead tables, including one of entirely vintage, as well as a crystal table. They also offer other unique jewelry making items such as sliders and embellishments (items I've never seen at any of its Seattle neighbors). They have a limited selection of seed beads, but a wide selection of glass both by-the-strand and individually. The prices are a bit high, but their offerings are unique and impossible to find anywhere else. They are often updating their selection and bringing home new items from bead shows around the U.S.
They offer a few classes, a newsletter and a small but friendly staff .

Okay, here's the thing. I like this little bead store in that they have a good selection of tools and storage (which some bead stores tend to struggle with) and that the lady who helped me was pleasant. Distant...but pleasant. They also had some Vintaj brass, which I haven't seen in any other bead stores around here. Yet.
That said, I'm going to disagree with those who say they have a unique selection of beads. They have your normal stringing materials, findings, and seed beads. They have a table of swarovskis (I noted the price was a bit higher than I've seen in other locations), and a second table of stones (which had the usual suspects as far as stones go).
If they offer discounts by bulk (which several stores do), I didn't notice any signs showing this so if you're looking to buy a lot of something, you may want to look elsewhere.
I think the biggest disappointment was the lack of stones. With a name like "Red Garnet", I'd have expected more in this department. Granted, the space is small, but I still think they could have offered more. SO...2 stars for their tools and storage. I think I'd only return if I was in the area, though. Sorry.
I like this place. It's convenient, they have a unique selection of beads, etc, the owners are friendly and always willing to give solutions and help out and they have classes for everything you could want to learn. They also have some things that shipwreck beads doesn't, which really surprised me.
