7 reviews for Red Door Movies
love, Love, LOVE Red Door! The organization takes a little bit of getting used to, but once you do...golden. Great selection, helpful staff. More importantly, the probably do have that random movie that you can't find anywhere. Read: Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus. Soooo good, so impossible to find.
I adore Red Door. I love the atmosphere, the staff, and, of course, the great movies.
A very different-than-normal video rental place. Some of the cases are on the shelves like normal, but most of the collection is accessed by browsing through binders or by just searching their database on the computers they have for customers to use. It's a good system, although I was a little confused when I first went there.
The selection is great. They've got classic films, foreign films -- not just the boring new stuff.
One star off because twice I've rented a movie that has special features on a second DVD, and they only gave me the main DVD. They should give all the discs that come with a given movie.
Red Door is a great neighborhood video store run by the nicest Korean family. Particularly nice about this place is their online video archiving system, which allows you to check what movies they have available.
Lots of foreign films- was able to find Old Boy, the trilogy it was part of, and other films by that same director. AND was just able to rent Curse of the Golden Flower the day it comes out on DVD. Sweetness.
Great for when you want to watch something besides what you have out on Netflix.
Will and I went here for the first time this weekend...and we're canceling Netflix as soon as our free gift subscription time is up. This little place appears unassuming from the outside (and even from the first yard or so inside), but is great for the following reasons:
- They have lots of different sources of movie reviews--online and ones they print out for you, and a little sticker system--so if you're unsure like I am all the time, you can triangulate your research.
- You can choose movies on their website, scan your membership card and they'll mail them to you, a la Netflix.
- Friendly, small establishment, not a chain and no indie movie store snootiness (sorry I'm so mainstream...looking)
- Thoughtfully assorted movies. I'm a very picky, moody movie chooser, and I was surprised and pleased to find more movies here than I could select to take home.
- Blockbuster does not even compare. If you love Blockbuster, you shouldn't even be reading this review.
$3.50 for all DVDs, 2 days for new releases, 4 days for everything else.
Great neighborhood business. $3.50 for DVDs. They have a nice selection (the latest from Hollywood, a large foreign film selection and thoughtful assorted movie categories), albeit not the best layout (DVDs are stacked horizontally and vertically). I like that they have movie review books in the store, so if you're not sure what to get you can check out what Ebert thinks are the best movies of the year. They have a computer where you can access their website for title searches. A nice, clean, well-lit place with a friendly guy running the place. Not a weird geeky atmosphere like many independent video stores.
More than meets the eye! At first glance Red Door Movies is just an ordinary local video rental store, but once you get on their computers and start exploring all the movies they have you realize this is not an ordinary video rental store. They have thousands of great films that blockbuster and netflix seem to have forgotten about. If you are looking to find quality films Red Door is the Place to go!
This is the local, mom-and-pop place to support until systems like Apple TV make video rental obsolete. They have a wider variety of titles than the chain stores, they are kind, and not overly zealous with late fees.
