Had a bunch of vegetarians over the other night and we decided to order from here.. I have walked past this place a hundred times and always thought it looked really chill inside.. After the positive delivery experience, I will have to hit this place up..
I guess there are two schools of vegetarian dining.. One school tries to recreate classic meat dishes while the other just serves vegetables, pastas, grains.. Red bamboo for the most part tries to recreate classic meat dishes.. Fake chicken fingers, fake chicken parm, or steaks, or pork chops..
When I give this place 4 stars, I am seeing it through the eyes of someone that is a vegetarian. Would I go here often if I wasnt dining with friends who didnt eat meat? Very occasionally. .Nothing I had was really better than the meated version..
That being said, I did enjoy everything i tried.. And this consisted of the majority of the menu.. Some stand outs were the chicken wings.. Though it was cute that they used little wood sticks to symbolize chicken bones.. Really like the jalepeno poppers.. Even after being delivered they were crunchy and filled with gooey cheese.. The chicken parm was really good also.. We were asked if we wanted vegan cheese or milk cheese..
All in all, delivery was fast, food was hot and not soggy.. If I am on a diet or on one of my rare vegetarian kicks, I would happily come here again..
I like this place better than Blossom, or Zen Palate.
Unfortunately my first impression of Red Bamboo was our shitastic waitresses. She was definitely dumb and definitely bad at her job. That being said the food was pretty damn good. Oh and I saw Santino Rice of Project Runway fame there so that kind of ruled.
Anyway, back to the food. We ordered drinks and appetizers but got our appetizers first because our waitress was just that awesome. I got a white guava sangria. Tasty. The boys I was dining with had boring beers.
Our appetizers included the Jerk Spiced Chicken skewer things. I thought they'd be different than they were, they were too hot but not flavorful, and a little rubbery. They were the only thing I didn't like, besides the waitress. Suck it waitress! I had the Sweet Potato and Broccoli Tempura, the two best things about Tempura in my opinion. Genius and mmm.
Our entrees were also super yum. I had the Bourbon Chicken Dinner.
I have to say I liked it quite a bit but would have done a few things differently. Some more mushroom gravy would have been nice and some sort of seasoning on the steamed veggies was really needed but the bourbon "chicken" was perfect.
My husband opted for the Taco Trio. You get to choose between beans, veggie chicken or veggie steak. Stress the OR. You cannot have one of each. You cannot have two steak and one chicken. This did not make my husband very happy. It came with this insanely weird and yummy but too hot sauce. It definitely had some truffle oil in it. It definitely had a little too much heat and needed to be cut with something but I definitely could not stop eating it.
We ate outside as it was a beautiful evening and even though it started to rain a little we were under tree cover and safe from the elements. I would definitely add Red Bamboo to my restaurants to visit when in New York. I also hear they have wicked amazing desserts but I was too stuffed to try them.
Oh man, writing this review makes me want to go get on the Chinatown bus and get me some Red Bamboo.
Wow. This place is better than I could have hoped. For a while now, people have been saying to me, "You're moving to Brooklyn" and "you're vegan" and "Red Bamboo that and Red Bamboo that," so, naturally, I was expecting to be disappointed. Like when you hear a lot of hype about a film and can't help but find it somewhat of a let down. The opposite is the case at Red Bamboo--I absolutely love this place.
I sat at the bar and was treated to really delightful service. Not only was the bartender/server helpful, but he was exceptionally friendly. Like gave-me-directions-to-the-Brooklyn-Museum-of-Art-f riendly. I ordered the Veggie Croquets ($8.95), which were simply amazing. Fried mashed potatoes filled with portobello mushrooms, potato, and red pepper over a bed of steamed spinach and thinly sliced garlic--truly wonderful. The meal went well with a glass of Malbec ($10).
If I'm not careful, I could spend all of my money at this place.
PS: I haven't been careful. The Callaloo Soup, Mango Chicken, and Caribbean Jerk Chicken are fantastic. The brunch is worth checking out too, and a little slice of heaven for vegans. The tofu florentine scramble is tasty, especially with a little hot sauce, and the steak and onions absolutely rules.
We had a table of nine people, and almost all of the seven meat eaters sat glaring at the menu wondering why they'd come to this place. They loved the atmosphere, and the staff were nice, friendly and fast. But the menu. It was missing something that they thought they needed. Meat.
Thing is, they had no one to blame but themselves. It was some of the meat eaters at the table who had suggested and decided on Red Bamboo. Now, faced with a situation of their own making, they had to live with the consequences.
And where do you think I'm going with this? They loved it. Not to a person, because some made some boring picks, but they loved it. And only a fraction as much as those of us who actually don't partake of the flesh.
The veggie ribs were great, and though I wasn't completely taken away by the place's signature soul chicken, I liked both my Bourbon Barbecue Chicken and the caribbean jerk chicken. The opening spicy chicken wings and drumsticks were amazing, with sticks or chewable sugarcane suggesting the chicken bones. The Philly cheesesteak was great, as were the collard greens with ham, and pretty much everything else was too.
There were some tasty cocktails too, including the Backgammon (a bourbon drink), the Sorrel Mojito, and the Back Deck mojito. And I brought a birthday cake for someone, and the staff refrigerated it, put and lit candles in it, carried it up the stairs, sang the song and delivered it, without a charge. I shouldn't have to commend them for having done so without a charge, but some vile restaurants actually do.
And seriously, I've been a couple times and have had nothing but great experiences with the staff. My only problem is the steep prices.
What used to be my favorite vegan retreat has gone downhill fast. When they opened a Red Bamboo in my neighborhood I was stoked that this one had a more soul-food inspired theme. Their popcorn 'shrimp' and 'wings' were to die for and the service was friendly and awesome.
I came back after being out of town for a few months and it was a totally different experience - angry/aggressive waiter, missing or out of stock menu items and an all around uncomfortable dining experience. My dish was barely warm (it tasted nuked) and they out us literally right next to another couple eating (I ALWAYS hate this). It wouldn't have been so bad if the place was crowded but it wasn't, and I figured they didn't want to waste a booth on two people.
There are so many great veggy places popping up in BK - don't waste your time at this one. I'm super disappointed at what they've turned into.
The ambiance of the Fort Greene location of Red Bamboo is definitely in its favor. Spacious, yet cozy, you can go here to listen to your favorite old school jams while you enjoy some earth friendly cuisine.
If you're not a fan of the fake meat, then this place is probably not for you. I like it, and I think they do it well. The Bourbon chicken dish is pretty delicious. Stay away from their sangria - I had to send it back.
I've seen it turn into quite the happening spot in the after hours, but haven't had the balls yet to insert myself into what feels like a local groove.
I went to the Red Bamboo in Manhattan before and loved it. When I found out they have another location in Brooklyn I expected it to be similar.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a different menu though. I use to love eating buffalo wings and the ones served at Red Bamboo tasted amazing (even better than the real thing). The service was great and the waiter was very pleasant.
I really can not think of anything to complain about.
I hope to be going back there sometime soon
I thought this place was pretty gross. Looked nice on the surface, the host was friendly, but the dish I got was not good. Also the server was cold and the beers were skunky.
I got the Jamaican Jerk "Chicken" with steamed veggies, mashed corn potatoes and vegan dijonaise. I dislike fake meat, so the "chicken" was gross to me. I couldn't figure out the dish - if it's Jamaican jerk chicken, why not serve it with rice and peas and plantains or sweet potatoes? Instead it came with mashed potatoes that had corn in them and cafeteria-style (meaning bland and undercooked) steamed veggies. The Dijonaise made now sense with the dish. The best part of the dish was the potatoes, but they just left me craving gravy.
If I were forced to go again, I'd try something else and hope it were better, but I would not seek out a return trip.
Pretty disappointed in their brunch.
Limited menu. We couldn't find it online ahead of time, so if you are wondering, here's what they offer:
The brunch special is two eggs (substitute: tofu scramble) with your choice of "meat" (faux bacon, sausage, steak, or ham). They also have vegan pancakes & waffles and vegetarian french toast.
It was way too expensive for cold, watery, weird-tasting tofu scramble (we couldn't even finish it), a small salad (fine), home fries (very good but tiny portion), and tempeh bacon (good, but definitely store bought). The "steak" was flavored exactly like their dinner style steak with peppers and onions, not really a breakfast item. And one slice of toast costs an extra $1.50!?
I still love this place for lunch and dinner but they need to work on brunch!

So different than the Red Bamboo in Manhattan! Spacious, very elegant, and a great menu with a full… Read more »
I have never been a fan of soul food but when you take this menu and add soy pork, soy chicken etc, you definitely have me interested. Last night, my boyfriend and I headed to Clinton Hill where he had Soy Ribs (pork) and I had Soy Pork Chops with collard greens and mash potatoes. I also ordered Mac n Cheese which was vegan and we had chicken tenders as an appetizer. For dessert, I enjoyed my vegan Red Velvet Cake. I was so full after this meal and enjoyed every bite although I wasn't into the mashed potatoes but it didn't make the meal any less of a winner in my opinion! In addition my Guava Sangria - PHENOM! If you can't make it to Brooklyn, there's one if the Village as well! What a great way to have your friends come together with a great menu that your friends of various dietary needs can eat while those who are into eating meat can try something new as well!
The Brooklyn location has an upstairs and downstairs, large TV (there was a Sun game on since we're in pre-season for Football) and they have DJ's on Fri and Sat nights typically as well.
Smooth and mellow atmosphere:
winding staircase
outdoor patio
earthy, amber colortones
Yay:
Trio Taco dish with chicken - my fave! (Filling and super-tasty!)
Southern Fried Chicken (I miss fried chicken, but this is a good understudy.)
Pork Chop (Yum-O! Even my omni-bro noted how lip-smacking good this dish was.)
Chicken Mango (A sweet and tangy touch with a medley of red and green bell peppers.)
Nay:
Roast Beef Sandwich (I didn't order this cardboard sandie, thank you.)
Vegetable Croquet (Where's the rest of this meal??)
Next up for review:
Their brunch menu...to be continued...
By far one of the tastiest vegetarian/vegan restaurants I've ever been to. I visited the Manhattan and the Brooklyn locations and the Brooklyn one is by far the better or the two. It's two floors and it's way more relaxed.
The food is out of this world delicious. I had the Buffalo Wings as a starter and almost ordered another order for dinner. The chicken parmesan is everything I expected and more. I almost thought I was eating real chicken. For desert my friend and I shared the vegan carrot cake which was even better than the real deal.
The prices are fair, the portions are huge, and the atmosphere and service were awesome. Can't say enough good things about it. I wish they would open one up in Toronto.............hint hint.
This is a solid place for lunch during the summer. Outdoor seating is the best (I almost gave this restaurant 4 stars just because how amazing the seating was). Red Bamboo has great lunch specials ranging from 6-8 dollars which comes with an entree and appetizer. My boyfriend and I split the mango chicken salad and the pesto portobello mushroom sandwich with appetizers as soup, collard green rolls with spicy sauce, and the seitan skewers.
Its not that the food was bad, more that it was tasteless or just ordinarily good. The seitan skewers was the worst of the bunch, tasting more like chicken flavored gummy bears. The best was the mango chicken salad. I love mango in salads, and the fake chicken was actually delicious! The sandwich was good, but nothing I would need to try again.
Overall a good experience, but nothing I would beg to come back for.
Vegans and veggie people are great. I respect anyone who makes a lifestyle change for something they believe in, or just because of health concerns more generally. That being said... Damn, the texture of that fake meat is wrong. Everything at this place is baby food mush and it's totally creepy. I put a good face on things but when I left there are felt like I had a bowling ball sized wad of gluten in my stomach. Even the fries that came with my sandwich were mushy. "Are these fries made of soy!??!?" I won't be back for food. Sorry, RB!
Mojito was good though.
Everyone talks about Red Bamboo in Manhattan but I favor the Brooklyn location far more. First of all, they offer brunch for both vegans and vegetarians and everything is solid and tasty. The portions are quite large so don't let your eyes get the best of you. The Manhattan location doesn't offer brunch and after visiting the Bk location I was left thinking "well, why don't they?"
The atmosphere also tops the Manhattan location. First of all, it is two floors. It is far more intimate (you're not practically sitting on your neighbors lap like you might be in Manhattan) and I've never had to wait to be seated. There is also second floor patio space, but I have yet to test that out.
While the menu is smaller is includes all of the key, classic Red Bamboo dishes. An original gem on the menu is the sampler dish. It includes every appetizer you could want to sample x2. For $11.00, it's a steal. I wish more restaurants had a sampler dish like this. It's a really great way to get a sense of a restaurant on the first visit.
Vegan/vegetarian souther comfort food at its best. You won't be disappointed.
Real talk. this place made me go vegan.... for 30 mins.
It's that good. Much better than that restaurant Kif.
Reb Bamboo being one of few still-unexplored restaurants in my neighborhood, I gladly agreed to scope it out with a newly acquainted vegetarian.
For the record, seitan and tempeh sound more like names of Orbital tracks than food, so, trust me when I preface the below Yelp with the following confession: "I love meat of dead animals."
Therefore, fake meat - made out of aforementioned seitan and tempeh and Lord knows what other types of soy, wheat, gluten, and whatever other non-meat things that self-denying beings have conjured up - is one of the more silly culinary concepts ever conceived.
Also, it's rather of sad to see self-proclaimed vegetarians scurrying about looking for fake meat that tastes like real meat. Shouldn't you not miss meat if you're a true vegetarian? Or is it like the desert missing the rain? Like a black fly in Chardonnay? Things that make you go, "Hmmm . . ."?
"Well then, what's up with the 4-star rating on Red Bamboo, you asshole?"
Oh, I'm so glad you asked.
Whatever (fake meat or fake fake meat - perhaps their secret?) they serve at Red Bamboo fucking taste good.
The veggies are fresh and crisp and happy.
Their sauces are alive and kick like an overactive fetus.
The interior of Red Bamboo is kind of cool, especially the spiral staircase and the upstairs area.
They seamlessly merge decent ambiance with large projection and flat screens.
They have a small but good selection of bottle beer.
They know how to use the deep-fryer.
Being a lacto-vegetarian I knew Brooklyn wasn't going to be a hard city to find a decent dish but the trouble was deciding on a place to eat.
I can thank a friend for suggesting this for dinner while I was in Brooklyn. The menu was supplied with numerous mouth watering options but I went for the mock tuna sandwich with vegan cheese since I used to like getting them as a kid. It was rather tasty and I was full after the first half of the sandwich and a side of soup.
Waitstaff was friendly, place was spacious, had outdoor seating and prices for the sandwich was reasonable. A new favorite of mine when I head back to Brooklyn.
I wasn't entirely thrilled with this place food-wise, but I really have to give them credit for doing something different. It seems like there are a million and one Chinese or Thai vegetarian places because it's so easy to use tofu in dishes where tofu is the norm anyhow. Soul food though? That takes some creativity and I applaud them for it.
However, it's just slightly off and didn't quite do it for me. It was just ok. Nothing I would say "wow" about. The side dishes were great, portions were generous, and the price was spot-on. I think that they need to marinate their seitan in sauce for longer. It's not like meat. It takes time and an air-tight container to even pick up on the flavor of the sauce. Also, dry rubbing it beforehand would probably help a bit. The sauces are great, but I feel like they don't go "through" the dish. They are just ladled on top. Does that make sense?
As I said, I applaud them for their idea and I think it's great to have an option that's not just Chinese or Thai, but I think they need a little more time to perfect their art.
The mango chicken salad was bomb, and at 7 bucks (lunch special) it was a steal as well. The fake chicken managed to have both the consistency and taste of real chicken, due in large parts to the fact that they roast it over a coal fire, as if it were actual meat. The dressing was light and tasted of a subtle mix of strawberry and raspberry.
I also tried the portobello mushroom sandwich, which was okay. Not very much flavor, but the bread was quite good.
Price - 4 stars
Food - 3 stars
Seating - 4 stars
Service - 2 stars
If I had never had a chicken parmigiana sandwich and you gave me one from Red Bamboo and said it was just that....I may believe you and when eating the sandwich I would even like it.....crispy bread, sauce isn't that gross, generally flavorful. However, if I then a week later had an actual chicken parmigiana sandwich (say from Antonio's)...I would then come to your house and leave a flaming bag of dog poo on your doorstep for lying to me. Cause just like Marvin Gaye and Tamie Terrell say......ain't nothing like the real thing baby.
No waiter,
This place is so slow and the wait service does not exist. Went there last night to have some dinner and just enjoy the night. Got seated upstairs saw the waiter twice one to order the meal the second was to get the check. Spend about an hour and change to get one app and 2 main course one for me and my friend. Even though the food is a hit or miss the wait and the wait staff just makes you feel like you don't even want to be there. There There is nothing else to do there the music is played by an XM radio, which is a mix of hip hop / rap and R&B. The shaky table did not help the cause at all.
Poor service, - 1 star
Long wait, - 1 star
Shaky table, -1 star
Over all experience, -1 star
all you get a is a one star, cant get any lower than that, skip this place and go some where else.
2.5 stars, really.
Having only gone twice and at dinner time, I have to say the wait staff is horrendous. Having to ask twice for more water is not something I want to do.
On the food spectrum, I have to say I love being able to know I can eat whatever I want on the menu, and that I can afford it. And that it'll leave me feeling satisfied. I do not, however, enjoy that gross ass corn potato side that comes with most of the dinners. It tastes like baby food, no joke.
Helpful note, they are on http://Restaurants.com and if you print out the coupon, I'd say its worthwhile...since it saves you money, you know you'll get decent food (minus that potato crap) and you're not spending quite as much of your money on a tip for the pitiful wait staff.
This joint keeps up with the Manhattan Red Bamboo quite well. The projector with weird orchid slide shows and the talk of "bottle service" at night seems a little ridiculous....But hey! Even vegans like to be exclusive and fancy sometimes, too.
Pluses:
prime location
lovely decor
What I did not like:
way too, too, too, expensive!
food is good but not the best.
Why the prices too high? Be prepared to spend here unlike the one in Manhattan.
If you like fake meat deep fried served with amazing side-sauces, or vegan treats cake, might as well come here. It's absolutely gorgeous in comparison to the other location.
The service here has sucked every time I've been. At least the collard green rolls are worth it.
Nice! I found another tasty vegetarian option, and it's in my neighborhood. This evening I sat outside and had the perfect table to sit and people watch. I can tell the outdoor seating will be even nicer when the trees have grown green again.
Since this was my first time, I decided to try their "specialty" of Crispy Soul Chicken (the dinner portion). As I was getting over a cold, I decided to go with the Pineapple Ginger Lemonade as my beverage. Service was a tad on the slow side, but not slow enough to affect the tip. My drink was delicious and refreshing, I just wish the glass as a bit taller.
As I was waiting for my entree to arrive, I noticed the people next to me as they received several sandwiches of fried faux chicken, lettuce and tomato. One of the people at the table didn't order anything but opted to take a bit from her friend's sandwich. She immediately responded with glee about how wonderful the sandwich tasted. The spring rolls at their table looked good.
I was delighted when my food arrived... The faux chicken looked perfectly fried; the panko crust looked golden/red and didn't look too greasy. Since this was the entree, my chicken tenders came with a side of al dente steamed vegetables, and surprisingly good mashed potatoes mixed with corn, and herbs, topped lightly with a tasty mushroom gravy (and I generally don't like mushrooms).
Overall, I was pretty happy with my meal. Like others have said, I do wish there were more veggies on the plate (I can never have enough broccoli), but I'll have to try other entrees to see if this is a consistent theme. Either way, I'll be happy to bring my vegetarian friends from out of town here.
Ew ew ew. When I go to a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, I want really good veggies that impress me, not faux meat. I felt that the menu items focused on fake meat more than veggies. I was completely underwhelmed.
On the other hand, the atmosphere is nice as well as the neighborhood.
Oh my god this place is AMAZING. The willy bobo (ie vegan version of a cuban sandwich) is incredible. I don't know what kind of vegan cheese they use, but it was creamy and delicious. Any of their fried chicken stuff is delicious as all get out. The peanut butter bombe cake needs to be shared, otherwise you might go into a diebetic coma (although it'd be worth it!), and the peanut butter frosting is basically the best thing ever.
I've come here for lunch too, and the tofu scramble is "meh" in my opinion, but the sausage medley makes up for it and then some.
I should also mention they have a great wine list too - the grenache is awesome! Mmmmm.
Lunch Special!
I had a Vegan Soul Chicken Sandwich with Chicken soup for an appetizer.
We sat by the retro space heater which we knocked over a few times so it was a little crowded for a table of 4.
But I'm not complaining since it was like 7 bucks for a huge sandwich that was crispy and covered in a mayo type sauce that tasted too good to be true.
The chicken soup was ok, it tasted like the kind from the can which was a flashback I could have done without. Next time I want that fricken collard egg roll everyone else at my table ate.
I'm definitely going back to try other items since I was salivating over my friends' lunches, eggplant parm, Portobello sandwich, and cutlets with collards. No one had anything bad to say so I'll take that as satisfaction.
The food is good. Though there is a heavier emphasis on faux meat then on veggies. The sauces that come on the dishes are very good.
I love the deserts here, they get their cheese cake from this vegan bakery in PA and its just wonderful. The milk shakes are also very good. This location is more roomier then the Manhattan location though it still gets packed so if you end up going during a peak time make sure you call ahead.
The Tv screen is a huge eye sore... The staff throws their posessions all over the huge wooden table next to the bar. The upstairs is always closed. The food is super fattening... ugh. I ate there twice until i realized how unhealthy it actally is.
It is the Vegan version of McDonalds..
bon appetite
My roommate and I are rather fond of this place. They have some preeeeetty convincing fake meat. Most things I've tried off their menu have been surprisingly satisfying, particularly their sandwiches. My favorite is the Dijon chicken sandwich. David's favorite is the small-portioned mac and cheese. I am secretly addicted to their funny buffalo wings. Other experiences include everything that could possibly go wrong in a tempura dish. Contrary to other reviewers, I am not particularly fond of their space, often getting seated in the middle tables.
In my experience, their take out is hit or miss. Once we waited 15 minutes for an order just out of the kitchen, another time we waited 90 minutes--of course the food was cold. All of things aside, Red Bamboo Brooklyn is still a house favorite.
They do not have gender neutral restrooms despite the restrooms being single-person restrooms. I've expressed this concern several times on my receipts with no avail.
Oh Red Bamboo, how wonderful you are.
I first went to Red Bamboo last weekend after deciding on going somewhere local for dinner, instead of trekking it into the city. Even though it was Friday evening, we got seated quickly and our orders got promptly taken. While I waited, I admired the chic decor and the extreme comfy-ness of the pillows at our booth.
The appetizers came out quite quickly. We had ordered Soul Chicken and had I not been in a strictly veg*n restaurant, I'd be convinced that someone had slipped me real chicken. The entrees were also do die for - Grilled Vegetable Napoleon and Vegetable Croquet (served with an amazing habanera aoli sauce). They also came out rather quickly after we polished off the appetizer.
I have to say that I was more than impressed. It was utterly delicious and the service was great. Since Friday, I went back for a quick lunch to-go and again, was not disappointed.
I think I found my new favorite restaurant!
From now on when I visit friends in Brooklyn I am going here. Delicious! I had the cheese steak. Mmmmm. The fries were great too. Full of flavor. One of the best veggie/vegan spots I've eaten at on the East Coast. Great waitstaff, nice decor. I also was tickled by the "hits from the 90's" that was playing during our time there. Very cute Red Bamboo.
This place is so adorable and I won't even hold it against them that it's a vegan and vegetarian place, hehe.
My friend and I were tooling around Brooklyn a few afternoons ago and were quite parched. It was kind of a warm day and we were definitely looking for something light and refreshing. We then walked by this little place and spotted people sitting outside and just taking in the afternoon and bingo, this was where we were going to hang.
And so we ordered some white wine and sat and chatted about New York and Brooklyn and really had a swell time. As for the place itself, I thought the looks and decor where really great. The bathrooms definitely hit the mark of nicely decorated and the service was great. I glanced at their menu and it looked inviting as well, so I will have to wait to review that part. But for our few hours here on a sunny Spring day, it definitely hit the mark.
I was here for the VP debates and the whole place was crowded and lively. The bbq chicken tenders were so good that I didn't realize this place was vegetarian until two weeks ago.
Red Bamboo. I sighed when we arrived. My date took me here on some "Since you're a vegetarian, I thought..."
I have always thought the food was pretty bad and overpriced.
I'm a fake meat LOVER but the stuff here is boring. . In addition, the veggies are bland and the seasonings and sauces are either too heavy on the sugar or the soy sauce for my liking.
I do enjoy their desserts, but it's not worth the trip for dessert alone.
There is better vegetarian/vegan fare out there: Kate's, Jill's, Gobo in Manhattan, ... even Imhotep's fakery is tastier. And for the record, I think Vegetarian Palate on Flatbush is more for your money. People say red Bamboo and Veg Palate taste exactly the same, but I don't think so.
I met a friend here for brunch when the weather was still warm for outdoor dining. I was under the impression this was a Vietnamese cafe based its name association with "bamboo". Much to my surprise, it turned out to be Soul Vegan...how eclectic!
If you see a guy with dreadlocks tending the bar, definitely order a Bloody Mary. He makes it thick & extra spicy...the best I've ever had anywhere.
I'm not a vegan myself, but my meal was pretty tasty. I had the tofu scrambled eggs, arugula salad with balsamic vinegar, and tempeh bacon. The portion size was pretty decent, but it didn't fill me up. I had a craving for meat at that point.
OH! Red Bamboo! So so good.
Vegetarian delight on a stick -literally (we always get the bbq chicken kabobs).
Soul chicken dinner/app is a joy!
It can be pretty warm (also the music a tiny bit too loud) in the restaurant so dont wear a jumper.
Great place for a date, great selection of drinks at the bar, GREAT food.
I crave red bamboo all the time!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
