We LOVE the Red Apple Farm!
The variety of apples will amaze you.
Berry picking
Peaches
Pumpkins
Petting Zoo

The Rose family has built the farm into a warm and inviting place - even on the coldest November weekend.  The BBQ is great, they often have live music, hayride and other great (non-apple related) happenings.

We are looking forward to checking out their new windmill that is being used to power the farm.

I've been going here for years and years, fall doesn't seem like fall without a trip to red apple farm.

this place is home to some of the most beautiful orchards and the freshest apples to be found i this part of the state.

not enough to get you all the way out there? well they also have:
home made cider donuts
fresh baked pies, made with their own apples.
home made apple cider, made in the store.
goats to feed and pet
bunnies to feed and pet
pumpkins- pick your own and pre-picked
hay rides
a BBQ stand
and the option to host a child's birthday there

Oh! So nice!

Want to get a taste of what New England was like, before the Industrial Revolution?  Come here.  It's an Agrarian Paradise.  It's a real farm, not a petting zoo.

They grow tons of varieties of apples.  Well, I love that.  It's an ecologicallly sound practice, and it extends their growing season.  Which, also extends their picking season, and it also extends their financial viability.

It's a real farm, not for show.  You should see this great set-up.  They do it right.

And you should make sure this type of family farm doesn't die out.  We need it.  We need to keep agriculture alive in New England, because we surely can't afford to keep importing produce from halfway round the world.

Heirloom apples hold a strange fascination for me. Not heirloom tomatoes, not other fruits or vegetables. Just apples, ever since I read an article about them in USAirways in-flight magazine. I'm obsessed. And recently, my obsession has been the Roxbury Russet, an apple that may be the oldest variety cultivated in the US, and not just the US, but Roxbury! So near to my home.

Red Apple has it. They also have Duchess of Oldenberg, RI Greening, Winter Banana, and Arkansas Black. Less compellingly, they have many normal varieties. They also have goats, and a donkey, chickens and bunnies.

It is actually worth the hour and a half drive from Boston, and it is cheaper than some of the closer farms. $22 for a large bag, or if you buy less than a full bag it comes to about $1.79 a lb. Not much more than the grocery, and much fresher.

I love this place! It's a tradition now for my friends and I to head out this way and pick a bag of apples once the season hits.

There are soo many different types of apples, you just might need to venture a little bit. All of my friends have babies now and they didn't have too tough of a time pushing the strollers though the awkward terrain, so dont let that stop you.

If you're looking for pumpkins, don't wait too long because the fields go BARE the closer you get to Halloween.

The apple cider and the cider donuts are really good, they always have a BBQ going, they have a petting zoo, and the bags of apples are like $20 and they'll last you months. What else is there to say?

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the port-a-potty's are now extinct (thank-god) and there are real bathrooms. Woo hoo!
