One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
This review is regarding hair modeling.
I just did a color class here last week and the experience was great!
To start, I was warmly welcomed to the salon and offered a selection of drinks and magazines.
Once I was seated in the salon, my colorist spoke with me about what I was looking for and we agreed that natural highlights would be best. She consulted with the senior colorist that was also working on my hair and they came up with an awesome color sequencing plan for my highlights.
During the service the staff were kind enough to take the time to include me in the process (which is sometimes overlooked when modeling), and the color came out beautiful!
The colorist did a great job blowdrying my hair and I even got a wonderful goodie bag full of items to thank me.
I will (hopefully) be back soon!
I stopped by Red 7 while in Chicago on a trip. I have very thick, long, curly hair that hadn't been cut in about 5 months.
Stephanie did a fantastic job on my curly hair cut. I was very impressed with her product recommendations for my dry scalp and the whole salon was just so stylish, friendly and fun. I was given a complimentary hand massage as well. It was a perfect experience and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago. Thank you Stephanie and Red 7 Salon!
Thanks to a strong recommendation from Yelp, I visited Red 7 today for a men's haircut (yes, men need haircuts too). It did not disappoint.
The price was comparable to what you would find at a Mario Tricoci. (Be sure to get the coupon from Yelp or their website for $20 off first visit.) And while Mario Tricoci is fine, it has something of a factory feel. Red 7, by contrast, with its setting on two stories of an apartment, and some nice furnishing touches, had a charming, Bohemian atmosphere. Very personal, in all respects.
The staff are very friendly, with confidence but not attitude. Timea, my stylist, was delightful and gave me a great haircut. Really apprceciated the head massage during washing and rinsing. It was soooo relaxing. Nice touch!
They sent me off with a little gift, with me feeling better about how I look and a bit more relaxed for having been there.
All in all a great experience. Highly recommended, especially for the guys.
To sum up:
Pros: Great haircut, friendly, charming atmosphere. No more pricey than your average city salon.
Cons: None that I can think of.
I love this salon. I go to Stephanie, she does a great job with mens cuts. And the whole staff is super friendly which allows for a pleasant salon experience.
Yay, this salon is so cute! Excellent service, great products, scalp massages...I feel spoiled here!
If your looking for a new salon or a new colorist, try this place and make your appointment with Katie C! She makes the magic happen with my hair each and every time I go to see her. I'm never satisfied with keeping any one color for too long, Katie is always excited to help invent a new me, and is really good at making sure that whatever ideas I throw at her, are complimentary to my skin tone and my overall look.
My hair has been all kinds of colors and highlights in the past, but today my hair is blond for the first time in a very long time. It looks awesome. I feel amazing and my hair hasn't looked healthier or more shiny! And I can't tell you how many people have complimented me on the "new" look!
I have never been pampered like I was at Red 7. From the minute I walked in the door everyone was extremely helpful and very pleasant. I had my appointment with Katherine who was absolutely fabulous. She listened to what I wanted any concerns I had and gave me very helpful hints about my hair.
Everything was great, from the hair wash where they massaged my scalp, to the free hand massage AND glass of wine. It is definitely more expensive than my usual place back in NJ, but very well worth it. I am looking forward to seeing Katherine again!
I have been coming to Red 7 Saon for a year now. Laura cuts my hair and she's very detailed and thourogh. She always spends time to listen to me before she starts cutting. She also double checks her work by making sure the hair is even and the way I wanted. Her hair cuts are very easy to style and grow nicely. I am definitely a fan. The services are a bit pricey but given the fact I trim my hair two, three times a year it is still a good investment.
The reviews are all completely accurate about Katherine. She did a great job on my long - sometimes curly, often frizzy - hair. On top of the great cut, I received a great head massage AND complimentary hand massage. I have only been once, so I don't know if that was to persuade me to jump on the Red 7 Salon band wagon...but it worked!
I will definitely be back. AND - they have a $20 coupon right now for new clients. Score.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I had a great stylist for years, then she decided to quit hair styling to continue her education. I spent about 3-4 years looking for a new stylist, I tried every place and was never fully satisfied or trusted the stylist to have complete control, THEN I met David at Red 7. I went in as a hair model as a favor to one of the students, I got at least 7-8 inches of hair cut off. It was the best haircut I had received since I lost my other stylist. And David is the coolest sweetest person. The entire staff is great and love the tasty beverages that are offered while getting the hair styled. It is a little pricey, but when you have way too much hair that is extrememly thick and hard to manage sometimes, its so worth it. I feel great everytime I walk out fo that place.
Thanks David!! ;-)
I just met my hair soul mate and her name is Crystal!
I went to see her per the recommendation of one of my friends after 6 months (gasp!) without a haircut. It's an understatement to say that she's AMAZING - asked all sorts of questions, like how I style my hair, what my job is etc. to figure out the best hairstyle for me. And the products she used were fantastic (Bumble & Bumble and Aveda - YUM!).
Also, complimentary bang trims! Much better than trying to do that myself, which never ends well.
I'm super pleased! And definitely going back.
Had the crappiest week at work and to make matters worse, every time I looked in the mirror I was reminded it had been 7 months since my last haircut. I moved here in February, so naturally I didn't have a salon. I found this one doing a map search near my office.
I looked and felt like a truck ran over me when I walked in and I came out looking glamorous ( even my clothes fit a bit better). The space makes you feel happy and loved. It keeps a great balance of having some spunk without being over the top and staying warm and inviting.
Stephanie transformed my hair. She listened to my concerns about the state of my hair and the state of my mind. She spent a great amount of time on blowing out my hair once it was cut. I didn't feel like she was rushing me out. I enjoyed two glasses of red wine and a hand massage during my appointment. I had a choice of aveda products or bumble and bumble. My hair was silky smooth when i left and i swear i lost weight when i was there.
I've been going to Red 7 for years. My first experience was to go in for a consultation on getting my hair chemically straightened. It's pretty expensive, anywhere from 500 - 1000. The stylist wouldn't do it because she said that my hair wasn't in good enough condition for it and would break off all over the place. I told her that I would sign a release and didn't care about the bleached pieces falling out...damnit I wanted straight hair!!!
But she told me to come back in a year and to stop using bleach when I got highlights done. While I was pissed that they wouldn't do it, I had to completely respect that they weren't about just taking my money - and another salon said they would "work around the bleached pieces" - not Red 7. They didn't want me walking around with broken off pieces looking like crap and having Red 7 be the cause of it. Not many placed would turn away such a lucrative 'job' but they were more concerned about the health of my hair than the bottom line.
I came back a year later, and ended up getting the Q8 straightening done. The process was long, expensive, and well, didn't work. Not their fault, I was only the second client to have it done and they had underestimated the rope like strength of my hair so it was done again, free, and it was really like several hours hanging out with cool new friends. It worked the second time around and ended up lasting me nearly a year.
I've been to different stylists and colorists there and on the odd occasion that I'm not happy a couple of days later, they do whatever they can to fix it without judgment.
As to price, I don't find them ridiculous. And I think that they try and work within your budget. Right now I'm going to Katie for color and Stephanie for cut. I love both. Katie seems to know exactly what I want before I even say anything. Stephanie also cuts my brother's hair and does a great job waffling that line of trendy/not trying too hard to be a club going 20 year old and he looks great.
Love love love Red 7!
Another wonderful experience! I've finally found my hairstylist after trying quite a few in the city. Katherine listened to exactly what I had in mind and then she made it happen. I walked out of the salon very happy and excited to return.
The free hand massage is a great perk too! Also, they do free bang trims in between your cuts, which is really helpful.

Great salon with talented stylist and a friendly atmosphere.

This salon is awesome! I got my hair cut by an apprentice named Leslie, who is about to get her own chair at the salon. I was a little nervous to have an apprentice cut my hair, but was convinced to give her a try when I found out my hair cut would be only $7. I ended up loving what she did with my hair and now I am one of her regulars. She is super sweet and does a great job! She also referred me to her friend Adrienne to get highlights. She works at the salon's Evanston location and did a great job as well. I keep getting compliments on my cut and color. If you're looking for an awesome place to get your hair done-this is it! Ask for Leslie and/or Adrienne...they're the best!
Nervous as anything to try a new hairdresser - my hair is cleverer than I am and out-wits me at every turn with its frizzy ways, but for some reason I only suit shorter styles, and with some hairdressers these two situations are mutually incompatible...
Let it be known that I hate Victoria Beckham. Honestly. As a reader of the British press, I have been plagued by her presence and do not for one second believe in her status as a style icon. This may seem irrelevant but the point is this: unfortunately, her previous hairstyle is the only one I have accidentally emulated and then kept for longer than 6 months (much to the bemusement of my friends). To my chagrin, it suits me and my hair straighteners down to the ground. Because of my anti-posh stance, I never mention her name when I describe my haircut (dumb, yes)... but Katherine at Red7 knew exactly what I was talking about as soon I described it and asked how 'Victoria Beckham' short I would like it. Right then, I knew it would be a good cut.
My hair now looks exactly as it should again, and into the bargain I got $20 off as a first time client. The salon is a nice space with a good vibe. They use nice products, but are not pushy to sell them. My only slight comment is that you can feel the bass from the bar below - it was a Friday evening - and I found it a little off-putting. But I will be back to see Katherine and her shears in the not-too-distant future, for my usual Pob....
I won't lie- Red 7 isn't cheap, but in this case you really get what you pay for. Crystal is just amazing with a pair of scissors, and has given me the best haircuts I've had anywhere. My hair is really difficult to cut too- I have thick, incredibly coarse hair with cowlicks on most of my head, but I like to keep my hair short, in a pixie cut. Crystal somehow knows just how to cut it so that it sticks up in a seemingly deliberate way rather than making me look like Buckwheat. She's also really friendly and nice to talk to. And she does a mean brow wax.
As for the salon itself, I've enjoyed the ambiance each time. They always offer a complementary beverage (champagne! wine!), and a hand massage. The products there are mostly Aveda and Bumble & Bumble, and they often have specials and raffles going on.
I recommend Red 7 to everyone I know in the city.
It took me 2 years to find this place and I am so glad I did. Laura is my stylist and can take my vague concepts and create something amazing that is 100% maintainable at home. I am a very very lazy hair person, as in I don't use products often and I don't blow dry. Despite that, I get compliments on my hair for weeks after she cuts it.
The salon itself is both adorable and full of very friendly, helpful people. They have a changing room so you don't get your clothes hairy, and free hand massages while you're being cut and styled.
I can't say enough good things.
Laura saved my hair! I came to her yesterday with a super jacked up (like really bad) razor cut - and for those who have experienced this you know what i'm talking about - for those that have not had the pleasure - a bad razor cut leaves your hair frizzy and dry - plus, if it's done incorrectly you won't be able to wear it curly. After Laura's cut - my hair is back to normal! It looks shiney again and I can even wear it curly if I wanted to - amazing! Plus, she saw what was wrong right away, was professional and nice to deal with.
This salon was recommended to me and def didn't dissapoint - it's super cute, everyone was really nice - Rachel gave a really good hair wash - all the front desk people I dealt with were very friendly and they offered me something to drink right away - how can you go wrong?
They also seem to do a lot of continued education classes which is very important - highly recommended!
Thank you Yelp!
I found a darling little salon just two blocks away from my condo.
My hair doesn't respond well to procrastination. I'd been so busy with my new job that I hadn't researched good salons in Chicago. I missed my NYC stylist Dora which always assured me of a first class trim.
As each week passed, my hair grew longer. And then it happened...
...I entered my bosses' office and his eyes wandered upwards to my hair. It was as if I had a thrid eyeball or something.
"Crap! I need to cut my hair!"
I made an appointment that day and eight hours later I was at Red 7 Salon. This salon is very cute and personable. It occupies two floors of a historic building. The floors are hardwood. You are offered a libation upon entering: wine, beer, water. Slurp. Slurp. =)
Stephanie cut my hair and did an excellent job. Props to her for refusing to use buzz clippers. She's old school all the way. All the stylists are very warm and friendly. My $45 cut included a soothing shampoo and scalp massage. You are also offered a hand massage for additional charge.
I redeemed a $20 special offered through Yelp! So I paid $25, but I feel perfectly okay with spending $45 based on my experience. I am just happy that I found a good stylist blocks away from my pad.
The office liked my cut too. =P
I've been coming to Red 7 now for a few years and just love it.
The location across the street from the Merchandise Mart is central and after walking up one steep flight of steps I'm greeted by a friendly receptionist. I'm announced and head up the second flight of stairs. Ok I am usually a little winded by this point (yes, and I ran the marathon) but after changing into my haircut cloak I can sit down and flip through magazines. My beverage of choice here is tea but sometimes if I'm feeling spunky I'll get some wine.
Laura is fantastic. I'm trying to remember how I found her originally? Perhaps there was something on one of the beauty websites that was giving a good price for cuts with her? That was when I was on my spree of trying new places...I just couldn't find anyone I liked. But Laura is smiley, friendly and gives a great haircut. I think her stylist level has changed in the years that I've been seeing her but I'm still coming back to visit.
Scalp massages with your conditioner. Hand massages with your hair styling. Is there anything more relaxing while you're getting your hair done?
Another reason I love Red 7? They don't product push. I HATE when stylists tell you there is a product you "have" to have. I've never had that happen to me here which I love. Plus Laura doesn't tell me that I have to come back in 2 months...she is very forgiving when it comes to how often I see her. No pressure :)

I was referred by a friend, and she was right!
I went to Katherine and she did a great job. My hair can be a bit thick and annoying. She snipped away and took some of the weight out. Cut a style that framed my face well. My coworker couldn't stop commenting. I was pleased. I think this is my new hair salon now that I'm back in Chicago. Oh, and Katherine was fun to talk to.
Great ambiance.
Oh and I got a complementary hand massage, it's nice to be pampered.
Lately, my hair has been stuck in 'blah' mode. Ladies, you probably know what I'm talking about: hair is just not doing what you want it to do, or it falls flat after you just spent the morning trying to make it look somewhat presentable which ends up getting pulled back in a pony tail anyway. Yup. I was in need of some hair care lovin', and Red 7 took care of that. I saw Crystal again. She transformed my dull, boring hair into a short, cute sassy 'do that's now ready for summer and the weather that goes along with it. Thanks to the quick check out service (pay while getting a haircut/service), I left as soon as Crystal gave my hair the final touches.

My boyfriend, who is visiting from Jersey, desperately needs a haircut before this big event. He's been going to the same place in NYC for a long time, and is very particular about his hair--threats of shaving his head if the haircut turned out poorly were made which of course, made it even more imperative that I find the perfect place in Chicago to book his appointment. So what's a girl to do?
Answer: Yelp! Duh!
He wasn't about to pay $45 for a haircut since he's going to need another one in a month, but I needed something better than Supercuts. After an hour of research, I was absolutely THRILLED to find Red 7! They were offering $20 off first time clients (I think this expires sometime in March, so go to their website for the coupon and take advantage of it now!) and I successfully booked an appointment for the following afternoon.
Red 7 did not disappoint! The place seemed a bit cramped at first because it's in this older apartment building, but it's absolutely charming. The decorations and furnishing were really cute, but not so girly that the bf felt uncomfortable or out of place. The waiting area had a good selection of magazines, from US Weekly to Sports Illustrated (yeah, I think we all know who was thrilled about that), and I was offered coffee while waiting which I really appreciated. Stephanie did an amazing job with the haircut. The $25 that he ended up paying (with the discount) included the haircut with shampoo, a hand massage, and deep conditioning. My hard-to-please bf left happy and satisfied, and that's deserving of 5 stars in my book!
My first experience with Red 7 Salon was at the Lollapalooza VIP lounge. Just walking up to the station I was seated after about a 5 minute wait and was paired with Timea. She gave me a great new do in 30 minutes without the normal ammenities of a salon.
My second experience was a recent trip to the salon. Once again I was given a great cut by Timea and an amazing hand and scalp massage. The people were very friendly and abliging and my hair looks fantastic. While the salon was awesome, the ony negative that I can think of is the price. Good thing I dont get my hair highlighted or dyed!!
I work across the street from this salon and I was very impressed!
I found a $25 off coupon on their website for Stephanie and she was absolutely fantastic! She was so friendly and so accomodating! She told me about the training process and asked me all sorts of questions about my haircare. I explained I was on a tight budget and she told me about the trainee program and how they do color for only $12! She also taught me how to better style my hair on my own with some quick and simple tricks for my swooping bangs. I loved her!
I have yet to find a salon that I would be dedicated to and now I have found one! I was also estatic when I found out they carriend bumble and bumble products. Thank god for surf spray! I would defiantely go back in a heartbeat. I cant wait to schedule my next appt.
Offers a drink? Check.

Oh, so I don't have to chat? Check.

Great service by all, even that girl sweeping up my split ends? Check.
I love you, Red 7.
Timea is amazing!
Timea is exceptional at cutting hair. She has a great personality, is really fun and very creative. Listen to her and you will be beautiful, I promise! She's truly great at what she does.
I cannot compliment her enough.
I'm brand new to Chicago and took the advice of fellow http://Yelp.com reviewers and booked partial highlights at Red 7. I've found my salon in Chicago. It's cute, perfect downtown location (why hello easy access to the El), and everyone was incredibly talented and professional! Having previously been brand loyal to Aveda, I'm pleased to have been introduced to Bumble and Bumble. They carry both lines, but I'm thrilled to try out Bumble products. I look forward to my next appointment!!
Cute salon, kinda feels like you are going to a friend's house for a hair cut. Everyone there had great style and it was a good vibe.
It was my first time And I had printed out an online coupon for Red 7. When I made the appointment I made sure to mention the coupon to the person taking my info.
The salon got really busy fast (I went on a Saturday morning). My stylist was very nice, I can't remember her name now, but she was running behind so she didn't style my hair after cutting it and only half dried it. I am pretty easy going so I was ok with that, she was nice and I didn't want to stress her out since she had appointments backing up.
When I went to checkout they wouln't let me use my coupon because it was only good for a junior stylist and my stylist was not junior. You'd think the guy who set my appointment would have booked me with a stylist that would allow me to use the coupon, not a more senior person. I left the salon with wet hair and still had to pay about $120 for a cut and 2 products. Not my idea of a good value or perfect service.
The cut was cute but hard to style myself later. It grew out nicely though.
I haven't been back there since, which is a bummer because I really wanted to like this place.
Red 7 never fails to provide with me an amazing salon experience.
I was looking for a new colorist a couple years ago after becoming disenchanted with a previous salon and stumbled across Red 7. I was paired up with Ivy, who did a fantastic job on my highlights. I have dark brunette hair and like lighter brown/honey/blondish highlights, and I've never had a colorist do a more believable job! Ivy is fast, incredibly talented, has a great personality, and always listens to what I ask for. I always feel like I have shampoo commercial-caliber hair by the time Ivy is done coloring and styling it -- I definitely recommend seeing her for color!
The salon itself is also a great experience. Clients receive free deep conditioning treatments and scalp massages during their shampoo, (made even better when combined with the great-smelling Bumble and bumble or Aveda products they use) and free hand massages during their blow-dry. Combined with free wine/champagne/beer, a friendly staff, eclectic decor and music, I always leave thoroughly impressed and very satisfied with my hair.
Check out Red 7 -- you won't be disappointed!
This was a first (of many to come) visit. What a cool place! Awesome layout.
You go in, and there's a changing room to switch out your t-shirt or put on a gown or some slippers! I just chose the gown. Waiting room has tons of magazines, none for men though.
My stylist gave me great advice and knew exactly what i wanted before i even had to explain it to her.
The shampoo is amazing, not only because of their selections of shampoos, but because of the amazing scalp massage.
The haircut (experience) went very well, had some great conversation. Optional complimentary hand and arm massage was fantastic. What a great treatment.
All-in-all was a great experience and would definitely go back again.
Two complaints:
First is that they would not charge extra cash to my credit card to leave a tip. Not everybody carries cash around, currency is dated.
Secondly, my stylist didn't give me a mirror to see the back of my head, i realized why when i got home. Not only that, my hair cut ended up more like a scissored crew cut than a real hair cut. She did a terrible job. I said "i don't want to see scalp" and you can see my scalp.
The place rocks, i guess i just need to try someone else next time.
Perfect in my opinion! I have been using Red 7 as my salon for about a year now. I get my hair cut and colored (long and black) about every 5 weeks. I prefer to use the Junior stylists for the cuts (cheaper) and Corrine for my color (she's just awesome). I'd also highly recommend Crystal and Steven.
The place is clean, trendy, super nice, etc.. Even the owners are awesome. They make it seem like they dont do it for the money....but to make you look your best!
I always leave there with a huge self esteem boost and I get tons of compliments on my hair.
The people are really down to earth and they dont give you any crap.
It's a bit pricey....but it's soooooo worth it. Free hand and scalp massages!
Red 7 Salon is very convenient for me since I work across the river. It is located just north of the Merchandise Mart. I tried this salon for the first time because I received a $20 off coupon. I usally go to a different salon in the River North area, but since my favorite stylist does not work there anymore, I was forced to find a different stylist.
When shampooing your hair at Red 7, they give you a scalp massage. This was so great as I visited the salon on my lunch break. It was a wonderful way to spend a lunch break. I also like the shampoo they used on my hair and ended up purchasing it. It was called Creme de Coco by Bumble & Bumble. They even gave me a free sample of hand relief lotion.
I had my haircut by Meryl. She is wonderful and easy to talk to. She really takes all factors into consideration when styling your cut. I also received a COMPLIMENTARY hand massage while Meryl was cutting my hair.
This place is great for its location and it's superb service! You must try this place at least once. If you do want to try it out, I did receive another coupon for $20 off. So just contact me if you would like it.
AMAZING. That's all I need to say about this fantastic salon. Katherine is my stylist and she rocks. I have curly hair and she handles it beautifully. She styled my hair for my wedding and just recently took me from long to short and funky curls. Everything she does is perfect AND she's really cool and fun to talk to. Red 7's prices are reasonable and the space is great. Go here for great hair!
Minus one star 'cause it's pricey, and I like cheap stuff. But, you get what you pay for...they are intensely precise and awesome.
Jen was my stylist for a year or so, and I only quit this salon because I'm growing my hair out, and this place is addictive.
Oh my, where to start? The place is ecclectic, comfy and not overly pretentious or crazy mod or whatever the hell else all the upscale salons think makes them cooler than everyone else. They have very talented stylists, colorists, waxists (not a word) and other people that are generally cool.
IF the nail girls aren't busy...they will offer chair pedicures/manicures during your cut/color. What a bonus. (Or you can schedule it this way, I never think that far ahead). Also, sometimes the apprentices offer free hand massages, which I think put me into a coma. Pretty sure.
A great place, very professional, never disappointed, overall great experience...once I start makign some bank, I'll be back!
(right next to Merchandise Mart, parking is awful, right off Brown line)
These ladies are awesome. Ask for Meryl, she is a sweetheart and smart too! She took time before ever picking a thing up to ask about my hair and explain what she was thinking about doing. The shampoo massage is nice, and they offered a hand massage, although (as a guy) I feel a little awkward getting such treatment. I did feel nice and relaxed by the time the shampoo was done though.
The prices are definitely on the expensive side, about twice what I normally pay for a cut, but the service is exceptional. Everyone is attentive, upbeat and friendly. I will definitely be back...
UPDATE: Just to add to my old review, Red 7 recently kept their salon open late for my boyfriend (he goes there as well) to get his haircut before flying out for a big job interview. They really have treated us well!

Today was my first visit to Red 7 Salon, and I LOVED it. These are the reasons I would recommend this to my friends, family, coworkers, etc.:
- They were able to book my appointment quickly, and within my schedule. There's nothing more appealing than being able to get in when you want to.
-The location is great. It is right across from the Merchandise Mart, and is easy to find.
-The staff is incredibly friendly. Unlike other salons, where you sometimes feel like the stylist's time is more important than yours, Red 7 made sure I was taken care of from the second I walked in the door. There wasn't a moment where my timer was going off, indicating my color was finished, and I had to wait around wondering if I was forgotten. (My stylist was also very personable, as well as attentive).
-The salon itself has a great atmosphere, and the snacks, beverages and hand massage don't hurt. It was a nice escape on a lunch break.
-As for cost, their pricing is competitive with other salons in the area. You get your money's worth.
-Finally, I received the hair cut and color I was asking for. In fact, Jennifer not only listened to what I wanted, but was able to fix a previous bad haircut from another salon. I left feeling like I had finally come to the right place.
I decided to try this place after negotiating an awesome rate with one of the noobie stylists. Many salons have a sliding scale of prices based on experience but my opinion is "hey, if they're worth hiring, they've got enough chops to chop my hair." As such, I didn't mind my stylist's lack of a salon rap sheet. Although they may take longer to work on your hair, I actually find it ironically advantageous to have someone who isn't as established. For one, my noobie stylist had something to prove. Two, her boss, the senior stylist, perched on her shoulder like a parrot half the time. All this amounts to a fantastic haircut at a hefty discount. I have arguably the most difficult hair texture to work with: very long, very thick, and very straight. In two hours, I had back-length hair cut into gorgeous chin to shoulder-length layers.....all without the catty or irritating side chat. Some people out there might use their stylist as a makeshift psychiatrist, but for the rest of us sane folk, having a breeze shooter can get real annoying. My stylist limited the conversation to consultation, which I greatly appreciated. In addition, they also used bumble and bumble products to shampoo and set my hair after blow drying it. This cut was quite awhile ago, and my hair has grown out beautifully without any raw edges that make you look like you just busted outta jail. One of the most precise and professional cuts I've had in my life!
I have been going to Red 7 Salon since my sister got married 3 years ago...and have never been disappointed. Getting my hair cut and/or colored here is literally something I look forward to as not only a necessity but a treat. You're not going to find hairstylists in tight fitting black and white clothing and techno pumping in the background, rather a quaint laid back atmosphere complete with delicious coffee, candy, sofas to rest on while you wait and complementary hand massages. So enough about the atmosphere...my stylist Maya is the only person I trust to cut my long curly hair. At times, I have had to go to other stylists at Red 7 and have not blinked an eye as all the stylists I have gone to seem trustworthy and well trained. I love it here and have recommended it to others who have all had great experiences (and cuts!).
** UPDATE** I am sooo sad to report that my stylist Maya has moved out of state..not to be deterred by the news I will remain a Red7 customer because I am sure I will find another great stylist there!
**UPDATE** So happy to report that IVY is so super awesome at color!!
Well over 15 years ago, I have been trying to get a certain hair color (kinda like Victoria Secret model "Gisele"). I have been through so many colorists in my life time and I was never 100 % satisfied with my color, until I found Katie. I have naturally dark, dark brown hair and I hated it. I wanted a natural light base color with highlights. I cannot believe how Katie transformed my hair. There is not one day that goes by that I don't get a compliment on my color. I was just in Highland Park shopping and a mother and daughter asked where I get my hair colored. Ladies I recommend Red 7. The people are nice and welcoming and if you want awsome color.............go with Katie.
