The treatments I have received from Rebecca--I can honestly and whole-heartedly say--have changed my life. I came to her with chronic mental and physical illness and she worked with me giving me, not only amazing accupucture treatments, but massage and nutritional/herbal help as well. Through her wealth of knowledge and talent, my all over health has done a 180 and I highly highly recommend her! She can change your life towards health and happiness.

I'll add to the dogpile.
The thing is, needles are kinda scary. For the most part. They can show you how little they are, and tell you that there wont be very many, but realistically, acupuncture is like getting 5 or more shots. Voluntarily.
But Rebecca made it easier. Almost not so scary.
And, the funny thing is, it actually worked! -

Rebecca is as good as it gets! After being diagnosed with an 'idiopathic' condition by my allergist he suggested I use acupuncture as an alt form of medicine. I walked in a skeptic and walked out relieved of my pain and singing the praises of Rebecca.
She has an excellent knowledge of acupuncture and alternative medicines and everything she gave me or told me to do all but cured the condition my western doctor couldn't solve. She explained things very clearly to a needle newbie and answered all of my questions without judgement or over my head lingo. She has an excellent bedside manner and made me feel 100% relaxed and hopeful about my health! She offered lifestyle change suggestions without pushing them down my throat and offers a gentle, knowledgeable health perspective.
If you're looking for a real expert in a clean, professional practice Rebecca is the perfect fit. (and super convenient location above the Gap at 5th and Market!) -

I have become completely hooked to acupuncture thanks to Rebecca. I went in for ongoing stomach issues and since seeing her for the past few months, many of my symptoms have subsided.
I not only feel better physically and mentally after our sessions, but I also leave with more information and inspiration that I can put towards leading a heathier and more balanced life. Rebecca is very thoughtful, knowledgeable and professional. I always look forward to my sessions with her. Highly recommend!! -

Since the last time I wrote a review, I have been getting regular micro-current facials from Rebecca. I think you'd call it "facial rejuvenation". She applies two little electric current conductors to my my facial muscles in order to stimulate them and "lift" them. I may not be describing it correctly. Whatever it is, after the treatment look more refreshed and I feel more relaxed. There are a few things I'll spend good money on and that's my skin and my health. Rebecca fits both bills perfectly. Not only does she do this micro-current facial on me, she also hits a few of my chakras with some acupuncture needles. Divine.
Fast forward to my most recent visit. I was all congested and phlegmy from a cold my body was fighting. I wasn't contagious, it was merely the remnants from whatever was attacking my body. Rebecca knew exactly which points to needle to help clear up my congestion. There was one point near my knee(!) that I felt instant action upon my sinuses! After a few points at the base of my skull (more relief), she proceeded with the micro-current facial. She sent me home with some Chinese herbs for congestion that were decently priced.
I'll sum it up and say that after my visit, I felt relief, my face was refreshed and my chi was aligned.
Seriously, go see Rebecca for the facial thing. It's never too late.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I am so happy that I found Rebecca Cates! I have been seeing Rebecca for several months to treat fatigue and stress during an especially demanding and busy time for me. From the moment you enter her office on Page street you are in a true healing environment. The office is relaxing and beautiful. Rebecca is compassionate, listens attentively and puts you at ease. She is very knowledgeable and explains exactly what is going on and how she can help. She has such a wonderful healing touch, is gentle and the needles go in effortlessly. She has provided the best experience of acupuncture that I have had. After the treatment I feel deeply relaxed and my energy levels are enhanced and supported. To my surprise my eyesight also became much clearer and sharper after her treatments! I highly recommend Rebecca Cates to anyone looking for a great Acupuncturist.

I was feeling like my body wasn't mine any more. Why are my allergies going bonkers? Where did these extra pounds come from? Why am I tired all the time? "What's up, body?" I asked myself. It just laughed maniacally in response.
A friend suggested Rebecca to me, and it's been all good news ever since. I've been going almost weekly since late November '09, and since then I've been feeling both physically and mentally much more balanced. Eventually I won't need to go so often, but after years of cruddy eating habits, escalating health issues, and attending to everyone & everything else in my world besides my own well-being, the initial whammy of weekly treatments was necessary.
Beyond being effective and professional, Rebecca is friendly, insightful, and warm. She offers advice and treatments with an approach that is neither hippy-dippy nor militant. Her Oakland location is a sweet old house that's been converted and is shared with a chiropractic clinic. Note: It can be a little tricky to find at night. Just keep your eyes peeled for the twinkle lights lighting a covered path from the street. -

out of anywhere I've sought healing i have received the best care i could ask for from Rebecca. all around. she is a heart felt listener, gives great feedback and advice, has the healing touch and the acupuncture was very calming. the needles are not that scary at all :) if you have any worries about the needling, I'm sure she can ease them as soon as you meet her.
oh! and i had great pain relief from the 'cupping' technique she uses as well.
this review is times 2 because i took my mother to her and she had the same impression!!
thanks Rebecca, i need to get in again soon :) -

Everything about Rebecca's practice is superb. The setting is warm, soothing and inviting. She took a very careful health history and provided acupuncture with accuracy and gentleness. I have no fear of needles but for those who do, Rebecca has the ability to needle without me even feeling some of them go in.
I feel Rebecca was in tuned with my chronic health issues and she addressed them with herbs as well. I've been to acupuncturists many times in the past and Rebecca rates way up there in her knowledge, skill and warmth. -

I have had the pleasure of many, many acupuncture treatments in my life and my time with Rebecca is by far among the best. From the moment I walked into her lovely office on Page Street, my stress levels plummeted. I never felt rushed as we sat and talked about my health concerns and Rebecca listened with the keen ear of a true healer.
Once on the table, her expert hands went to work painlessly inserting acupuncture needles where necessary and massaging tight areas (what a bonus!) The room was incredibly comfortable and warm and my treatment was exactly what I needed. I left feeling calm, refreshed, pain-free and ready to tackle my day.
I can recommend Rebecca without reservation. If you have seen many acupuncturists in the past, you should consider giving Rebecca a try - she truly is a notch above. If you have never seen an acupuncturist, you are all but guaranteed an amazing, soothing experience that will leave you ready to book your next appointment! -

You will find yourself in the presence of a gifted and intuitive healer when you meet Rebecca Cates. I have been treated with acupuncture and massage by Rebecca for years, as well as have been prescribed herbal medicine, and all have had amazing restorative results.
You feel the world slip away as soon as you step into her tranquil, serene office. She will take the time to listen to what your issues are and will focus on them during the treatment. You will feel very taken care of in her nurturing, warm presence.
Rebecca's massages are like a little slice of heaven- soothing, calming, yet deep; precise, yet with loving intent. You get that shift where you feel transported and don't want to come back to reality! Her acupuncture treatments are powerful and effective, yet so gentle that I always fall asleep during each treatment. And she once prescribed a customized herbal blend for me that gave me so much energy through balancing my system that I had to call and ask her if it contained stimulants (it did not).
Yes, you will find yourself making another appointment after each treatment because you feel soooo good and you don't want to forget that magical, relaxed state that seems to elude us stressed-out urban dwellers in our day to day lives- but you will look forward to it all week long as it approaches! Rebecca is a true healing artist. -

Rebecca is wonderful. I've been seeing her for several months now for shoulder and neck pain as well as fertility issues.
Regarding the neck and shoulder pain, she has magic hands. Her massage and cupping techniques hit all the right spots and I always feel better afterwards.
As far as the fertility issues, Rebecca has so far helped gotten my periods down from 89 days apart to 54. She is very knowledgeable about what points to use on what days, as well as what herbs to prescribe. She has also helped my digestion and my PMS symptoms (less irritability and headaches!).
She is also very present, compassionate and thoughtful and has more than once gone out of her way to look something up for me or photocopy excerpts from a book that she thinks I would benefit from.
What ever your ailment, Rebecca works to find the core cause and fix any imbalances you may have. I highly recommend her. -

Insomnia. Aches and pains. Allergies. Even a torn ligament. I've had it with western medicine and wanted very badly to feel better without the MRI's, cortisone or drugs. Could accupuncture save the day? I'm going to say yes. After just one session I slept like the dead, felt energy pulsing through my body, was balanced and actually pain free (for a weee bit). Holy smokes I'm a believer. Rebecca also has bionic yet healing strength in those hands of hers. Ten years ago I used to see her for her body work and massage. Now that she's moved to acupuncture she is that much more in tune with your body, it's really impressive. She's direct, kind, intuitive and an all around wonderful person. Treat yourself to some love and healing.

Rebecca is one of those rare people who can effortlessly balance work and play. She brings a deep sense of interest and insight to daily practices such as taking good care of yourself or healing from a specific ailment. She has a lovely office and can turn you on to all kinds of exotic healing agents appropriate to your needs. She gave me an acupuncture treatment, a massage and a killer quinoa recipe.

I met Rebecca about a month ago and immediately liked her demeanor and professionalism coupled with being very personable and warm. Just this past Monday did I have the chance to get my first treatment with her, primarily to support me as I am going through some stressful times. It was a wonderful experience! Rebecca has an amazing touch, very reassuring, very delicate. The placement of the needles was painless and highly effective. I felt my body relax, and the experience continued on throughout the rest of the day. I will be seeing Rebecca at least once a month as part of my wellness plan. I am so very happy to have found her! Thanks, Rebecca!

Rebecca is expertly knowledgeable, and I look forward to my monthly visits. She really listens, explains things very well, and her treatments make me feel very relaxed, calm and centered. She also does "cupping," which has really helped alleviate the tension in my neck and shoulders. It seems she intuitively knows what will work best for you, and she has knowledge in many different areas from which to draw. Her office is lovely, too!

Rebecca is, quite simply, a goddess of massage. Her touch is magic and brings a sense of not only her phenomenal knowledge, but a great sense of spirit and energy. It translates to the energy that I feel channeled thru me after my sessions with her. Truth be told, I feel it as soon as I enter the calm of her office space and she puts her hands on me. Afterwards, I feel so relaxed and back in alignment with my body and with the universe. She has tremendous insight and experience with many types of healing, including accupuncture and movement of chi as well as medicinal herbs.

Rebecca is one of the best, and I've worked with many. As background, I have incorporated acupuncture into my lifestyle for the last 10 years.
I was initially seeing an acupuncturist to address a weakened immune system due to an aggressive bout with mononucleosis. I emerged from those treatments with more energy and strength than I had ever known.
Since that time, I have moved cities multiple times and have had the
challenge of finding a new practitioner every time I relocate. I have found that each practitioner has had a different approach to their work. Based on this experience I have never been willing to settle for the first practitioner I meet when I arrive in a new city. I meet with several people, engage in one or more sessions, and determine whether or not there is a fit.
I found Rebecca almost two years ago, and can honestly say she is one of the best I have ever worked with. Rebecca's practice is aggressive and targeted in its treatment - delivering immediate results. Yet her sessions are also infused with compassion and empathy as she works with you to achieve the specific outcomes you are striving for. -

Here's what I love about Rebecca: she's smart, detail-oriented, has a memory that an elephant would envy, and she's thoughtful. All of this conspires to make her such a fantastic partner in health, that I've been visiting her on and off for over 10 years. Most recently, I had lower back pain that was unbearable. Rebecca worked with me on a plan that included acupuncture and a bit of cupping, as well as suggesting solutions to stave off future problems (stretches, pilates - she even suggested great dvd and book titles). The result? I can pick up my son again, I can run again, and I feel really good.

I've so enjoyed my treatments with Rebecca. She's very communicative - always letting me in on what's going on and why it's important to my health and well being, without overwhelming me with too much information. She's very caring and knowledgeable. And the best part is, the needles don't hurt! Such a relief to those of us who are a wee-bit afraid of needles. Can't recommend her highly enough.

I have been seeing Rebecca for many years mostly for massage. Recently I had a car accident and started getting regular acupuncture treatments combined with massage. She has really helped in my healing process. Rebecca explains what she is doing as she goes along and is always able to answer my questions and quell my fears. I look forward to my visits and the way I feel when I leave.

I've been getting treatments from Rebecca every week for about 2 months now, and all of a sudden I feel much lighter, more flexible, and at peace. I used to get severe headaches every day for years, but because of Rebecca's subtle and expert work, I haven't had one for about a month now! She really takes the time to listen to my concerns, connect them to interesting and relatable ideas, and use them to shape the treatments each week. "Cupping" is one technique she uses that has immensely improved my overall blood flow and flexibility. Her placement of needles is very gentle and intuitive. Since I began the treatments I have started to notice the natural energy that flows within my body, and I carry that wholeness with me throughout each day. Rebecca also answers any and all questions I have about acupuncture and natural remedies, no matter the subject. She is very easy to talk to and fosters instant relaxation. She leaves me with a deep feeling of energy that stays with me even after the treatment. She has been a calming presence and awakened my inner energy from day one.

Rebecca did a series of 10 microcurrent treatments on me- the first 6 were twice a week then we went to once a week for the remaining 4, and I was very impressed with the results! Being someone who is really invested in preserving my skin, but also skeptical of what's out there promising beautiful skin, I checked into microcurrent really thoroughly before committing to it. Everyone I spoke to said it yielded a subtle but noticeable lift around the upper cheekbones, jawline, eyes.... and... it did! My skin looked OK before but now I feel like it looks great, and I will definitely be doing regular monthly appts. with Rebecca. Rebecca herself is a *find* of a practitioner, not only being a licensed acupuncturist and microcurrent practitioner, but is also a wonderful mix of highly professional, warm, genuinely caring, and articulate, combined with very knowledgable and wise. Thank you Rebecca!
