"After a few bad dental experiences since I've lived in SF, I read Yelp's reviews of Dr. Hill, and I must say, it was a great experience. He…" read more »
I chose Dr. Castaneda based on her credentials, and silly as this may sound my choice has been one of the biggest regrets of my life - a $20,000+ regret. Cash at that. She was all full of big promises in the beginning of my 3 year mouth reconstruction but towards the end, when things weren't turning out as well as she said they would she became very arrogant, opinionated (I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and she told me if I ate more melons I wouldn't be sick...puhLEEZE) and when I, along with the orthodontist I was going to, became very unhappy with the work she was doing on me, it was like talking to a wall. The teeth I ended up with are horrible and I would've sued her had I not moved from SF 2 days after she completed the job. Ironically, the area I moved to has one of the best dentists in the WORLD...he was head of The Amsterdam Group, a worldwide group of cutting edge dentists, of which Dr Castaneda was also a member (though no longer is). When he first looked at my mouth he stated that whoever did the work had no clue as to the complete workings of dentistry and said the job was inferior on several levels. The teeth she gave me are way too long and big for my mouth and do not match, in size, the natural teeth I still have. Believe me I complained vigorously to Rebecca, but she crossed her arms in front of her chest and said "I stand by my work, I did the best I could", which apparently she did, and refused to have the teeth redone to fit my mouth and face. For all her big ads and high opinion of herself she was not up to the job. Let me put it this way, when friends who'd known I was having this work done on my mouth first saw the completed job they said "I thought you were getting your teeth fixed!" They don't even look like real teeth. AND i have had to have work done twice, to the tune of thousands, fixing and readjusting what she has done.
I suggest if your dental problems are not too complicated go ahead and make an appt with Castaneda. You will have the pleasure of paying top dollar and enjoy a very nicely appointed waiting room. You will be entertained by her patronizing tone to her staff and get to witness a grossly inflamed ego at work. The view from her office is very nice.
Is there a way to award ZERO stars? I hope so because that's my rating.

They say that 95% of the people in this country have the dream to experience the feeling of being a winner, the other 5% truly understand the concept of being a winner and make their dreams a reality. Rebecca has put a smile on my face that only someone in that 5% would be capable of doing. I love her caring attitude, warmth, level of precision, and goal orientated mind that all reflect in her work! There is no other dentist I prefer to see other than Dr. Castaneda.
I AM AMENDING THIS RATING ONLY TO POINT OUT THAT, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH (OR NOT), ONE DAY AFTER POSTING A REVIEW THAT DIDN'T EVEN CRITICIZE DR. CASTANEDA, *TWO* 5-STAR RATINGS APPEARED. "He that protesteth too greatly..." and all that...
ORIGINAL STATEMENT: I am only giving this rating one star because I can't post unless I also rate, and I am not ready to do that at the moment. HOWEVER...I have to say that I don't rate a prosthodontist on how she dresses or what her office decor looks like, as have some other "reviewers" here. I also don't rate a dentist on whether she has an "energetic soul" and is "beautiful and successful," as still others have. I rate the medical caregivers I am treated by on their professional courtesy (or lack thereof), their sense of ethics (or lack thereof), their competency (or lack thereof) and their consideration and sensitivity (or lack thereof) for their patients and the needs of those patients. I DO look at a dentist's interaction with his/her office staff because it tells me about the sense of respect (or lack thereof) the physician has for both his/her employees AND patients. I have been a patient of Dr. Castaneda's for six months; an extremely well-paying patient, I might add. My extensive treatment has yet to be completed, and I will write a more comprehensive review then. But the put-down AND suck-up reviews make me disgusted and should be read as the "plants" they are. (PS I can also spell and write correctly, obviously, which is more than I can say for "Dinna" or "Frankly.")

Dr. Castaneda is an excellent prosthodontist. She is kind and caring, totally pain free, and produces artistic results. I highly recommend her.
