Don't really understand the bad rap this place has got. However, my understanding may be hindered by the use of a company credit card. Having said that, still, I'd come back for a $15 cocktail if I felt like treating myself. Honestly.
The crowd (Friday evening after-work bunch) seemed a good mix. I saw neither your 'douchebags' nor your stuffy suit or public school types. Everyone was just enjoying the view and the drinks.
Service was lovely. My dad has this strange tendency to introduce me to everyone - 'this is my daughter Helen' - as if that's quite a normal thing to do... to a barman. It is not, but the barman took it in his stride so well done him. He also didn't take offence at my wrinkled nose at the concept of a margarita with avocado in (actualy can't taste the avocado, but it's a decent margarita). He also mixed a mean cocktail. Really - the hibiscus thing was a bubbly glass of greatness. Not one of the six we tried (when a vodka will set you back the same, you may as well go wild, people) was too sweet - my pet hate - and all were pretty delicious. They were also strong. Tick, tick, tick.
The view is great, the bar is a nice place to while away the evening and the bar snacks are plentiful and delicious. Even the bathrooms are special - full length frosted glass beats craptastic vinyl any day.
Two things I do not understand:
A seven thousand dollar bottle of brandy.
The name. To me, 'rebar' means a steel reinforcing bar. Is it a clever reference to the incredible quantities of reinforced concrete in the building (which is, to be fair, an interesting case study in reinforced concrete construction - but maybe 1) only if you're a geeky engineer like me and 2) not while you're drinking cocktails).... or is it just a weird name. Strangely, all the drinks had daft names too. Answers on a postcard please.
So, controversially, I don't think it's that overpriced. Take off the four bucks overhead for location (come on, look out the window!) and you've got a cocktail far better than the unoriginal badly mixed crap served up at some places. Good for a treat, that's all I'm saying.
Trump: good wig, good drinks, bad naming policy.
Some may wonder why - but it's simply because:
- the view is nice, although it would be nicer on a higher floor (terrace?)
- service was friendly and not snobby at all (which trust me, some of these hotel bars can have)
- the lighting and music worked for me
Now I totally understand that:
- it's expensive (but I don't drink)
- furniture didn't look too comfortable
- and it probably gets way more crowded fri/sat than it was wed/thurs when I went
The door guys, hostess and bartender were all great! Everyone was nice and made you feel like you were at a luxury hotel/bar.
I do think it is way overpriced! The drink prices are ridicoulous! We orded sushi (Spicy Tuna and California). I must say I expected something amazing and it was only OK.
I only had the California roll and I can say that I have had much better. I was disappointed but the views are great and the servers were nice!
I met some girlfriends at Rebar after work one night for Girls Night Out. They got some prime seats right at the front of the lounge and were sitting pretty for a while.
When I got there, they were waiting on a round of drinks and menus to eat. When I ordered my drink and the girls tried to order food, she informed them that, "like, the kitchen closed 5 minutes ago." Could she not tell us when we asked for the menus 15 minutes ago and didn't come back?
The service was slow. The drinks were all way over priced. $15 for a vodka tonic? And let me tell you, this was not top shelf.
The people there made me laugh. A bunch of drunk douchebags and girls who thought they were in Hollywood.
Barf. I hated the place and couldn't wait to leave. At least the doormen were nice.
I have gone back here a handful of times - on a date, with a friend from out of town and a few weeks ago with family who was visiting from out of town.
They still make a killer french martini. I have also had a glass of lemonade here which was very good and hit the spot on a late Saturday afternoon.
The views of the river and city are breathtaking and on my last visit I had a delicious white sangria which was very very good and very very expensive ($20). I wouldn't normally order a $20 drink, but I had asked our Waitress what was good and she suggested it. It was so good, that I looked on the menu to figure out what I was drinking, and that is when I realized each sip cost about $2 bucks. So I made certain to eat all the fruit inside the glass!
My 22 year old Brother noticed electrical tape holding down some cords, and commented that the decor was kind of tacky and cheap looking. I couldn't agree more.
The last few times around, the staff has been extra nice and accommodating (yay!) - BUT Donald, when I pay $20 for a drink, I don't expect to look down and see electrical tape on the floor.

Donald,
No.
First of all, the decor is substandard. The chairs are very big and comfy, but that is… Read more »
I was so excited when this opened, but I was extremely underwhelmed. The drinks were expensive as expected but so-so. The view was amazing, and the ambiance was what I expected from a hotel lounge/bar. There was a lot of "trying" going on. Overall it wasn't that big of a deal. I guess I just expected more out of Donald (yes, we're on a first name basis).
Hot. Kind of smells like construction/chemicals. Super DUPER expensive.
Not for me.
Sorry, Donald.
Recommended to come here as one of "the spots" in terms of lounge. When I came in that Saturday night around midnight or so it was pretty packed already with lots of dressed up people. The drinks are expensive, $18 for their signature drink served out of a punch bowl at the bar. The drink did taste really good, and the other cocktails seemed pretty original.
The music was going, the view of the river was good, and when I grabbed a seat to wait for a text from a friend I was not harassed but rather they came over to see if I wanted another drink and gave me some bar snacks. They showed class treating a customer as a customer.
Overpriced everything and nothing really special about the design. The only thing somewhat going for the lounge is a semi-descent view of the river. But now that the Terrace and the Roof are open, there may be a lot less desire to visit this lounge.
All of the 3 stars goes to the service. They did a great job accommodating my large posse.
My 100th review.
My first visit to the Trump Tower. A very cool lounge with a very relaxed vibe to it. Low lighting. Great view of the river and some of the Wrigley building. Upon sitting down, you get an appetizer of olives and oriental trail mix.
Drinks are expensive, around $15...but boy, are they good. For my first drink, I chose the Black Mamba, which is served in half of a coconut. Very cute, and so good. My next drink was Emeralds by Ivanka. It's very refreshing and good if you like tequila.
If you're hungry, they serve sushi.
Yes it's expensive, but what else did you expect from the Donald?
My only complaint would be that the chairs at the tables aren't too comfortable.
The service was excellent. The sushi was fresh and well prepared. The view of the river was nothing special. But, it can add to your experience if you've had a rough work day and just want to chill out. The decor and color scheme was nice. The bathroom was spectacular! Some of the chairs were a bit uncomfortable - but a nice place nonetheless.
The wine was ridiculously overpriced. My friend ordered a glass of Chardonnay, the cost - $27!! When asked the price of a bottle... a whopping $135... are you serious???? However, Rebar is in Trump Towers, so this wasn't really a surprise.
The four stars is for the service and the sushi.
We wanted to try something new, so we accomplished our objective. BUT, I will NEVER EVER go back there for drinks, especially since there are a host of fine wine/spirit establishments in the city. Hell we could have purchased 2 bottles of great wine for the price of that one so-so glass of Chardonnay!
I'm glad I checked this place out because I'm more curious about the building than the actual bar. Not a Trump fan at all but wanted to give this place an open mind.
The crowd seemed to be full of cougars that night or just older ladies that wanted to get out with their girlfriends. My group was definitely the youngest.
Decor was nothing special and the view of the Chicago river was beautiful. I'd rather be on the bottom half of this building than the top half so I think the bar was located on the right level.
The drinks were a bit pricey...that's expected people! I ordered a glass of rose but didn't like it at all. My group ordered cocktails and said all of them was pretty strong. I've never been to a wine tasting or a lounge that serves spectacular wine, so I don't expect the best drinks.
I noticed Rebar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, which maybe I'll try someday but I'd rather hit p Peninsula and Four Seasons first.
All the class of Donald Trump packed into a tiny bar space.
How did I end up in this hell? The crowd? I overheard a couple discussing "how worth it" the drive from Des Moines was to get here. I guess you can't get Trump branded vodka drinks in a Trump branded bar in Iowa.
Whatever, Rebar seriously sucked- horrible bar selection (lots of trump brand alcohol), meager views considering the potential, staff that couldn't be more, 'meh', this whole scene is so uncool I can't stand it. One star for decent bathrooms.
Rebar @ the Trump
After entering the glitzy and glamourous lobby, I walked up the steps to the new Posh, Rebar and was a bit disappointed. the view on the river was all but average (Cite is still by far the best) and the selections of drinks were also mediocre.
When you hear Trump's name - you assume the best of the best and nothing less than. Service was sub-par and well, the pan-asian menu was just blase. I ordered the Red Junmi, a combination of watermelon puree, sake, and a cute starfruit accent on the martini glass, however, for the $15 price tag, I was less than buzzed, and trust me, i'm a light-weight. It was over-sugared and geared toward the looks-over-quality of drinks drinker.
The japanese condiments were stale and the olives - well they were just an assortment of olives, i really do not know how these olives go with sake-mixed drinks.
Surprisingly - Johnny Walker Blue by the glass was cheaper than other bars however, with the less than impressive decor and ambiance, I do not think i will be going here on my own accord again.
The best word to sum up my visit to Trump's Rebar was MEH. Trump Towers is suppose to be a World Class Hotel so its sad that a bar with such a marquee location and such potential would be so underwhelming. Maybe its just not my scene or maybe I caught the staff on an off night but I was not impressed with this place.
Pros
Great Views of river and the city
Great location in the heart of the city
Cons
The service was sub par
Overpriced drinks
When my brother suggested stopping by the bar at Trump's newish beautiful addition to the Chicago skyline, I imagined something a bit more luxurious. There are certain expectations when going to an upscale hotel bar, especially one with Trump's name attached to it, and Rebar did not reach those in the least. The ambiance was poor: there was no music, the decor was uncohesive and seriously lacking. I will say, however, that the mixed drinks on their beverage menu were delicious, even if a bit pricey for such awful ambiance ($15 each), and that the view of the river is soothing. However, I can have great drinks many places across Chicago and do not suggest wasting your hard earned dollars at this disappointing hotel bar.
Rebar. Interesting literal name for a place that still has views of the rebar sticking out of the concrete on the yet to be finished riverwalk. Rebar wasn't open yet on my last visit to the Trump Tower so this was my first visit to the highly acclaimed lounge located on the mezzanine level of the Trump Tower.
Enter off the lobby level and walk up a flight of marble steps. A friendly hostess will greet you at the top of the stairs and show you to your table. We scored a great table with deep leather chairs right at the window overlooking what in the Summer will be the Chicago River and what was on this night- a half frozen tundra.
Since we had just finished dinner- the sushi menu that was handed to us was out so we just ordered a couple of drinks and took a look around. As I sipped my drink I thought that there was a good mix of people, from conventioneers manhandling the servers to friends out together for cocktails. There was music playing in the background that at times had almost a club beat going but not so loud that you couldn't hear your friends talk.
Service was okay (I'm all for going Green but I am beginning to wonder why it is so hard to get a glass of water to go along with my martini's these days!) and after a couple of asks- we finally got our water. The drinks are not cheap so be prepared. One mixed drink and one martini came to over $35 but I guess something has to pay for the cool restrooms!
All in all, Rebar would be a place to stop in at the front or end of your night- but I wouldn't make a whole night of it.
Can't wait to see it in the Summer, though, cuz what I was able to discern through the snow- the views of the Chicago River and Michigan Ave bridge are going to be magnificent. Bring your out of town guests . . . .they'll love it. And you will get to nonchalantly say about the view, "Yeah. It's one of the things I love about living in Chicago".
Okay Okay I admit it. The specialty drink at this bar The Dream became a NIGHTMARE.
Rebar was the chosen bar for NYE. I along with a fellow yelper decided on this spot. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and the bartenders were nice. The best thing about this bar is the view. I was able to see both of the firework shows and see a beautiful Chicago.
Will I be a regular...probably not but I had fun.
Oh just in case you wanted to take a nap....their bathroom is great :-)
I still really like this place. I don't know why. The drinks and food are so overpriced. We had three Sprites, two Grey Goose's with a splash of cranberry juice, and a churro dish and the total was $70.
My first drink was pretty strong, but the second drink blew me away. It didn't even taste like straight vodka. It had a cough syrup like taste. I was appalled at first, but then somehow got addicted. I want all my alcoholic beverages to taste like that from now on.
The ambiance is quite extraordinary. My brother kept saying he felt so classy. I would then remind him that he ordered a Sprite and the Cha Cha Cha (churros). By the way, my brother's Cha Cha Cha - $24. That's the last time I take him to Trump Tower just because he wants to be inside a place that was in The Dark Knight.

Let me start by saying I was a tad inebriated when I entered Rebar on that Sunday afternoon. After… Read more »
First of all, I want to be clear that I went to this place twice, mostly to give it a second chance.
The atmosphere is cool and the hostess was friendly. But the good stuff ends about there. The waitstaff disappears for 20-30 minutes at a time and it's not that large of a bar. Anything that isn't a beer or glass of wine is definitely watered down and not subtly. This isn't necessarily a problem I suppose, but for example, if I order a "vodka on the rocks," please tell me where that's supposed to come back to me as "vodka and water on the rocks"? Our waitress (not hostess) was downright unfriendly and generally unhelpful. When pressed for a drink suggestion she said "This one's good." Turns out it was the most expensive cocktail on the menu. Also, since when does a bar run out of Grey Goose AND Belvedere? There were also issues with the bar taking my friend's debit card, which apparently the fancy Trump Credit Card scanners are unable to manage.
Skip it.
I came here with some friends a couple of weeks ago and I was really underwhelmed.
The best part? They serve everyone these little plates of snacks and the pickled garlic was the shit! Oh my gosh, it was SO good!
The drinks were a little weak and the service was SLOW! The place wasn't packed yet we got stuck in a corner (VIP) table. We had a good looking and well dressed crowd, so I'm not sure what the deal with that was.
I'd give it another shot, but I really wasn't impressed. Also, I found it shocking that it's only on the 3rd floor or somewhere around there (might be 2nd). With all that height one would think that they would put the bar up top.
Came here for my sister's birthday after Pops was too full for us. Definitely a good choice, we were able to get seating for 6 right away. We must have came just at the right time because it seemed really busy. The prices are definitely high but if you're looking to have some drinks in a new classy place with a great view then it's worth it.
I came back a few weeks later and it was great again, but I had to call ~45 mins in advance to get a table.
If you're want some desert get the chocolate mousse-ish one, it's awesome!
This was my venue for ringing in the New Year. After reading all the great reviews about "The Dream" (specialty drink with Pink vodka, rose champagne and muddled strawberry goodness) my fellow Yelper and I decided this would be our drink for the whole night. They are potent and could lead to losing a friend to a little nap mid-party, but I digress...
The big draw for this place is clearly the view. We got to enjoy both of the fireworks displays while still sipping our drinks and staying toasty warm. I completely agree with the past reviews that the decor was rather cheap for the Trump name. On NYE, the crowd started off as all couples and lots of cougars (Rarrrr!), but mercifully the crowd got younger as the night went on. The service was clearly 4-star plus all night and very consistent -- even when they would get rush crowds. That impressed me! Plus, being a hotel, it took less than 30 seconds to get a cab at 1:30 on NYE, which was *fabulous*.
Will this be my new hang out? No. But I will definitely go here again for the delish Dream beverage and the great views. This is an excellent place to go if you want to get all dressed up own it diva style.
I'm sorry... I just wasn't impressed!!
If you go through my reviews, you'll notice that I'm big on hotel bars. When I entered the lobby of the hotel, I had high expectations. The lobby is gorgeous and the folks at the front desk are absolutely charming. However, I went up to Rebar, and I was disappointed.
Yes, the drink menu is nice. I had the Dreams strawberry punch, and it was fantastic. I also had the Teco (a little too sweet and heavy) and then finished off with a glass of Perrier Jouet. We also had a $9 Creme Brulee that was seriously disappointing.
Ok... here are my gripes:
1. It's very loud. My date and I were yelling "what?" half the time at the bar.
2. Service is slow. It took 15 minutes to get a Pellegrino.
3. The scene is random. From conventioneers with their name tags on to the greasy 40 something year old fake and bake dude (with chains down his neck), undressing me with his eyes... I wasn't a fan of the crowd.
4. I didn't like the decor. The designers were trying for modern and chic, but it comes off as cheesy and screams "hotel." They will definitely need to upgrade it in a few years. The bathrooms are stellar though, but I might suggest adding some fancy handsoap... they have to keep an image, right?
5. Very expensive.
Also, the men who seem to hang out here are very aggressive. As soon as my friend got up to use the men's room, I had three men around me at the bar, all middle aged and calling me "little lady." No thanks.
If you're looking for a good hotel bar in the city, I'd stick to the Four Seasons or the Peninsula.
My first time: the Sex and the City premiere weekend with girlfriends. It only seemed fitting. Second time: this past weekend. I was impressed with the space - I'm not going to try and pretend the décor sucked, because it was classy yet understated. Plus, we had a gorgeous view overlooking the river.
The menu was pretty innovative: Great sake list, some of which I hadn't seen before, Teco (drink adorned with 23 kt gold), sushi with SHARK BACON (highly recommended)... Rebar definitely had an exotic thing going on in the variety of food/drink options, but nowhere else. Everyone there was either an old white man or a semi-young (re: old + Botox + too much tanning) white woman.
The service was decent, but not particularly special (they weren't going to waste a ton of their time lavishing attention on three 20 something girls when there were businessmen and their trophy wives/girlfriends draped in Prada surrounding us), but I expected a little something extra at the Trump anyways. I got it - in the bill. No surprise there.
Overpriced, overhyped...blah. Rebar just felt like I was back in LA/Hollywood (sans celebrities). And I left for a reason. Worth a trip to judge and be judged though...
The space is gorgeous, chic, expensive. Just like a Trump blonde.
So one of my L.A. friends decides we should try the 'Dreams' punch bowl. 'Dreams'? Very aptly-named considering it costs $225! As in, I could only dream of affording what better contain 24k gold sparkles. Fortunately for us, they also sell 'Dreams' by the glass... for a mere $18. Still out of my range, but what the hell? We're on a bar crawl, the view is fantastic, and I'm already a bit buzzed.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that 'Dreams' tasted just like its name (read: I adored it). This is the queen of all cocktails-- p.i.n.k vodka muddled with strawberries and rose champagne. Now if only I received a huge salary bump, I could've stayed here all day sipping on these decadent pink concoctions (yes, I've added a picture).
But alas, it was time to leave and compensate for our over-spending with a visit to a dive bar. But I think I'll save this treat for a return visit to Rebar, like my birthday or a romantic evening.
Irrelevant note: I think that an Eastern European accent is actually a requirement for any woman to work here. Tres sexy!
This place is mad swanky, but small. Me and my girl went once just for a "grown and sexy" night out. It was very insanely average and overpriced. She had a cocktail for $18, and I had a glass of wine for $15 (not a bottle a GLASS). The sushi was so-so, and the little trail mix they served us was crap. They have seats by the windows which is really popular, but we sat on the couch and people watched. The bar was super small and packed. The staff were helpful, but painfully busy in this too small "lounge". It's a nice place to people watch, and feel special, but there are definitly SOO many better places in the city to drop your money and get the same effect. The crowd is also very middle aged. So I would say maybe suggest this place the next time your parents want to go on a "date night." In my opinion it's a little too much grown and not enough sexy.
When the construction is fully complete outside, the view will be 100% nice. Drinks and chatting is nice here with friends or on a date. Came here and had a few drinks after dinner. Trump's designer did a great job at the hotel and "rebar"...kudos.
How I wanted to be wowed and fall in love with you- I really did- however, your lobby to the venue is great... upon arrival you are gracefully greeted with fun doorman and all that jazz, which is totally to be expected for the place. The bar itself- dime a dozen type place- what this place has going for it is the view- GREAT and totally score a table along the window. The wait staff was efficient and did what they should be doing. Now, what I do have a slight problem with is $15 for Trump vodka dirties...really? I suppose it's to help the man recover his financial disaster. My advice, go during the week after work for a drink and then go off with your other plans. Fixtures and furnishing are what you would expect for a place like this, nothing really jumps out as amazing. So Rebar, best of luck to you as I'm sure you'll be renamed in a few short years from now and be reborn-
This place is ok.
Not good for parties.
Not good for large groups.
If you are just having a drink with a date, it might be nice if you can sit by the windows because the view is nice (not the best, but nice).
The prices aren't great and the staff isn't either.
I'd skip it...
This place was a big disappointment, especially considering the location in the Trump Tower. The view was nice, but definitely not worth going out of your way for.
The Host was very friendly and helpful, but after that it was pretty poor.
S-L-O-W service, we had to beg just to see a drink menu and when we did order, it was 25 minutes total time from sitting down to receiving our drinks. The drinks were very spendy and just okay (so-so Mojito for my GF and a middling-at-best Manhattan for me).
There are a lot of other, better options around.
What a mixed bag Rebar is.
I went to Rebar for a friend's birthday. She had called ahead and reserved a table for us, and upon arriving ordered Belvedere bottle service. The atmosphere was upscale-hotel-nice, as you would expect from a bar in an upscale hotel. It felt a little stale, but still trendy and comfortable.
Our waitress was amazing. Although she clearly had a handful of tables and was also acting as the "bus boy" for her tables, she tended to us quite well. I don't think any of us were sitting around waiting for long before we were taken care of.
The hostess was another story. We were originally seated at the wrong table. It sat far fewer people than the reservation was for. Our waitress moved us to a larger area with better seating (a nice big couch and several large, comfy chairs.) Shortly thereafter the hostess came over and, very rudely, told us that we could not sit there because it was reserved for a VIP. We explained that we would move back and just wanted more chairs so people could sit, but for some reason the hostess kept arguing with us. This was confusing because we were agreeing to do what she asked.
What makes the story worse is that the VIP reservations was *actually for us.* The manager came over a few minutes later and asked why we moved and explained that we were the VIPs. In the end, she sorted it out and we moved back to the larger area and were given a free round of shots to make up for the inconvenience, but that still doesn't make up for the way the hostess was speaking to us.
In the end Rebar isn't a bad or a wonderful place to spend your night downtown. I would be willing to give it another shot, particularly if the nasty hostess were gone or at least altered her attitude. With the wealth of bar/lounges that are just like this place in the same area, however, it is pretty likely that I won't ever return.
Loud. Pretentious. Waste of time.
I don't know what my "scene" is. But I know this place isn't it. I came here last night with my friend when we used to live downtown 3 years ago and could watch this place being built from our window. We were curious and thought we'd just stop in for a drink at Rebar.
We probably stuck out like sore thumbs since we:
1. clearly weren't showing enough skin
2. didn't order the $600 bottles of champagne
3. weren't with men that were triple our age
Beers started at $7. Cocktails at $14. The bottle service looked absolutely ridiculous. My first drink was a rhubarb and grapefruit martini and it was surprisingly wretched. It was so bitter I couldn't drink it. Our server whisked it away and brought me a MUCH better cocktail. Needless to say, I won't be returning. Rebar just didn't do it for me.
A tone of elegance and luxury began upon entrance, as an overly attentive host greeted us at the top of the marble staircase. We could choose from the stools at the bar or the clusters of comfortable chairs and lounge seating. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a grand view of the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue. Glass vases and framed black-and-white photographs decorated the space. The swanky atmosphere had Trump written all over it, and Donald himself has been known to make an appearance now and then. (I didn't see him.)
The signature cocktail, known as "Dreams," is served in a punch bowl and made with p.i.n.k. vodka, rosé champagne, strawberries, and fresh lime. Don't worry if you can't finish a whole bowl; it's also available by the glass. Other notable potables include the Bull Nose (Bacardi lemon, rose nectar, fresh sour mix, and soda), Honeycomb (premium rum and vanilla cream soda), and Blueprint (old cognac mixed with blueberry juice and lemonade). There is also a long list of spirits, champagnes, beers, wines, sake, cognacs, scotch, bourbons, and vodkas--including of course Trump Vodka.
While Rebar may be "just" a hotel bar, its 80 feet worth of windows offer a Chicago view that trumps most others.
Cool. Slick. New. Glass.
All these words come to mind when describing Rebar. We got there and were a bit confused as I thought the bar/restaurant were on the 16th floor. Nope. The restaurant called sixteen is on the 16th floor. Just the bar is located up the stairs or 1 level from the lobby. And for not even being completely constructed, this place is open & ready for the masses!
Wow. What a spectacular cocktail menu. Of course my cocktail was $18 (dang!) but how many of these can you really throw back? I had one and that was quite enough. Floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Chicago River and all the surrounding buildings all backlit is really quite spectacular. Definitely check it out before the next new bar is open down the street. But for lobby bars in a hotel, this one is quite nice.
Went here for the first time last night to meet a group of out-of-towners as they were staying there.
The ambiance was nice - low lit, good music (not too loud), comfortable table settings... and a great view. There was a definite chic crowd and good people watching.
Drinks, though overpriced ($16 for a glass of prosecco... then again, what do you expect from Trump or downtown Chicago hotel bars?) came fast and were cold.
I'd recommend this place to meet up with friends before starting out your night or a great date spot - be sure to grab a table next to the window for a romantic factor. I'll definitely be back the next time I strap on high heels & have a night on the town.
If you can sit right by the window, I bet this is pretty cool. Otherwise, closer to "meh".
I had an aquavit, which was served at room temperature. Utter faux pas, or just some Trump irreverence?
Thumbs up for the updated Addicted To Love waitresses...
Rebar's "punch," as previously referred is actually called Dreams. It's made with a pink vodka, rose champagne and muddled strawberries.
I must have been pretty tipsy the first time I had it....b/c the 2nd time, it was STRONG. strong like, buzzing after not even finishing one. That being said, I'd order it again. =)

So, the second time we tried to go for a drink at Sixteen, we were denied... they were closing for the night. But they mentioned we should go to Rebar. So, gladly we went!
This time, fresh from dinner at Greek Islands and not wanting to retire for the night (on a Wednesday night?)...
Sat down at a nice table by the window. Had great drinks (mine was some sort of champagne cocktail, in true Libby fashion) and great conversation.
I will come back again. I would absolutely bring business colleagues (in fact, one of my colleagues will be staying at the hotel soon) or people visiting Chicago.
Classy, dark, loungy, fun.
Hmm...I really want to like this place since it's at the home of my parents, but it's just too trendy. My friends and I got flak for wearing flip flops. I took some other friends around a tour of Trump and upon arriving at Rebar, everyone looked pretty crappy, so a dress code at a hotel bar was not expected. Drinks are pricey as expected, and servers were almost more pretentious than its patrons. The river/lake view is nice and the riverwalk should be beautiful when finished. The servers should try to be half as nice as the staff downstairs.
Don't get the honeydew drink. It came in a martini glass and tasted funny. The $14 price was not as funny.
