I ordered delivery from Real Thai through Seamless and took quite a risk because the Yelp page was down at the time and I had to rely on the reviews on Seamless, which I now see are fairly inaccurate. Fortunately, this gamble paid off!
The delivery time was accurate, but definitely not fast. By the time the food came, I was so hungry that I just scarfed the whole thing down and didn't get to truly savor every bite. Okay, back to delivery time! It took about.. 40 minutes? The delivery guy was very nice, comical even. They packaged everything nicely. I, along with my coworkers, all got the Pad See Ew with beef-- the lunch special, which came with a salad and was fairly cheap. Approximately $8-9, I forget exactly. I also had the curry puffs as an appetizer.
I thought the Pad See Ew was a huge portion for a lunch special. It was cooked so well. The noodles were soft, the beef was tender, and it was flavored perfectly! So savory in my mouth, yumm!! I have no complaints about the food at all, I didn't think it was oily at all. The curry puffs could have been packaged a little better, as you can see, it wasn't getting very high points in terms of presentation when I opened up the container. However, the curry puffs are very soft and the curry flavor(there are also potatoes inside) was prevalent. The appetizers came with a cucumber/onion sauce that tasted very sweet, I preferred not to dip the puffs inside.
Overall, this place is amazing for the price (even if it were a little more, I would not mind)! I would definitely order from this place again :)Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Jun 20, 2012
I was recently water skiing with my close personal friend, Jody Watley, and I asked if she'd ever though of licensing any of her monster dance hits. (BTW, she can still rock a bathing suit and she's an excellent skier!) She said she hadn't seen the right opportunity yet, but she'd keep her eyes open. And p.s. she has incredibly sexy eyes, am I right?
As it happens, last night Jodes and I went out to dinner (that's my pet name for her, Jodes...she calls me the Bill-monster. We are ridiculous when we're together!). We ended up at a place on the East Side called Real Thai and I said "This is perfect, you can do a radio commercial for them and update your song "Real Love*" with "Real Thai"!" She just rolled her eyes and told me I was tripping, but that's most likely because I stumbled over a crack in the sidewalk.
So anyway, we were seated and had very pleasant service. We had pad see-ew, which was very tasty and the cashew nuts entrée with chicken, which was also tasty. Could have been spicier...or spicy at all. And there were not enough cashews. I like my nuts so I wanted more. But the white rice was served in the shape of a heart which is just about the CUTEST THING EVER! So the food was just fine.
Anyway after dinner, I tried to rework some of the lines from her song and get her to sing them.
I want Thai food that's serious
No time to eat bad pad
Don't wanna eat so few cashews
So if you wanna be with me
You gotta nut it up
Real Thai...I know I wanna have some
Real Thai...gonna try and get some
I didn't think they were too bad but she disagreed, so instead we just ended up going for boilermakers at a place down the street.
Side note, you know, she was (and is) one of the classy dance divas of the late 80's/early 90's and she never went all skank-tacular to try to draw an audience. I told her that and she thanked me.
That's it for my review. As my friend "Jodes" would say, Hasta la vista baby!**

The food I found to be very good, the service was excellent. I also accidently forgot my phone in there and they ran out of the restaurant to return it to me. If I have only one qualm it's that they don't serve fresh coconut water like alot of Thai places I go to. But for $17 i got a chicken red curry with a side salad and white rice as well as a Tom Kha Gai and Thai Ice Tea. Definitely the best bang for your buck in this area for lunch. Will definitely come back.

I'm not sure what I was thinking the first time I reviewed Real Thai and only gave them four stars. Perhaps, being somewhat novice when it comes to Thai cuisine, I had not had enough bad Thai experiences to truly appreciate having a restaurant as good as Real Thai within close proximity to my home.
This is our go-to for Friday or Saturday lunch, and I also order takeout sometimes. The interior is small, clean, and somewhat cozy. They decorate according to the seasons and holidays, and I like that. The staff is friendly, and they never get our order wrong. We never wait long to receive our food.
Awesome deals on booze, though I've only drank there once. I had my usual white wine (I believe I had the Chardonnay), and I have no complaints.
Real Thai lives up to their name, in terms of quality. I may not be educated on what exactly constitutes "authentic" Thai cuisine, but they are right up my alley in regards to what I'm looking for when I walk into a Thai restaurant.
I usually order my food "Thai hot", but it's pretty spicy as a standard. I'm the kind of crazy person that likes to be sniffling by mid-meal. My favorite dishes here are the spicy basil with beef, pad prik with beef, spicy basil fried rice with veggies, spicy noodles with beef, and spicy beef fried rice. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the Pad See Ew with chicken and Gui Kua with shrimp.
In terms of price, I personally feel it's reasonable for what we are getting. We are loyal customers because we always know what to expect. They are consistent, we get treated well when we are there, and they are always within their promised delivery time when I order out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 8, 2015Previous reviewThis is a solid place to get high quality Thai food. I've been here twice with my boyfriend.
The inside is plain and small, but clean. It's typical of what you would expect in a casual Manhattan restaurant. Both times I've visited, it has been quiet - afternoon is a great time to check this place out if you are like me and avoid a restaurant's busy hours when possible.
The service is fast and friendly. We never had to flag down our waitress and she was at the table refilling our water as soon as it got low. We did not have to wait long for our food, which had a nice presentation to it. The menu has a lot of options, too.
For starters today, we shared the spicy mixed vegetable fried rice. It was delicious, including an abundant variety of veggies (green beans, green and red peppers, onions, zucchini) and scrambled egg. It is very spicy, so heed caution if you're sensitive to those types of foods!
As an entree, I had a spicy basil beef dish, which included peppers and onions, and was bathed in a spicy sauce. I had it cooked to medium spiciness, but it was still very spicy, something to keep in mind when you're ordering. The mild option would probably satisfy many peoples' spiciness desire, and still may even be too strong.
Needless to say, all of the food I've tried here has been delicious and consistent. The portions are vast, and I definitely plan on returning! - Emily M.New York, NY133717Sep 28, 2012
Was in Midtown East for shopping and cocktails after work and came a little farther east in hopes of good (and cheap) Thai food. After searching on Yelp, Real Thai was the closest and had the best ratings - and turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. I agree with the previous reviewer, this place is definitely no frills compared to some other Asian/fusion restaurants in the area, but it is clean and tastefully decorated and had overall good atmosphere (one friend in my party who had lived in Thailand for a year and a half instantly commented on the authenticity based on the Thai music playing quietly in the background).
We were seated promptly (not busy considering it was a Friday night around 9 but at the same time not eerily quiet) and our server brought over ice water and took our order. We shared an order of spring rolls between 3 of us (6 pieces, so perfect portion) which were hot and fresh (not mushy or overly greasy). I had the panang curry with chicken and my friends had the green curry with tofu and the spicy noodle dish. Everything was tasty, lots of veggies in the dishes, and just the right amount of spice. Our bills ended up being around $14 each (no drinks) so I think the price was definitely good for the quality of food.
This definitely wasn't the best Thai food I have ever had, but I am giving it 4 stars given the area, the price and the overall authenticity and simplicity of the food!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 16, 2013
Good neighbourhood local Thai. Tasty good quality Thai food. Loved the pad thai with fresh limes.
Obviously do a roaring take away trade as the delivery guys were in and out all the time - must be good fast delivery. Eat in restaurant is small and looked sharp from the outside but is tired inside and could do with a paint.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lillian V.New City, NY872221Jun 10, 2016Updated review

Good local Thai restaurant! Was walking around the neighborhood with my brother, and we stumbled upon Real Thai. We came in because the prices seemed good, and there were lots of good options on the menu.
For appetizer, I recommend the Basil Summer rolls. These come with shrimp, and served with a delicious peanut sauce.
As far as the main meal, you can choose mild, medium, or Thai Spicy. I struggled with my "medium" and would definitely go for mild next time. I ordered a stirfry with chicken, basil, and vegetables. The portion size was generous, leaving me quite full.
The waitress (who may have also been the owner) was extremely friendly. The service was great, to the point where I felt like I was welcomed into the owner's living room. Would recommend if you're in the area!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - PJ M.Newport Beach, CA58165110Sep 19, 2015
I wish I could give this place a 3.5. The service was very good. The atmosphere was okay. The construction outside takes away from positive dining experience.
We had curry chicken. It was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kanan M.New York, NY459818May 31, 2015
I just realized I order in so often (like 2x a week) from this place since it's a couple blocks from my apt...but I've never left a review. Well, I just ordered in tonight (ah, lazy Sunday evenings) and as always, I love the food here. In the beginning, it wasn't what I expected (I was expecting Pongsri or Pam's Kitchen style food)...but over time, I really started to love it. It's become my healthy (or healthier) comfort food.
My go-to dishes are the spicy noodle entree without egg (basically pad kee mao) with soft tofu and the spicy basil entree, also with soft tofu. What I love about Real Thai is that the basil tofu dish is chock full of super fresh veggies that are just barely sauteed. So, while they're cooked, they're still crunchy. And the food is not greasy. Sometimes the noodles are a little sweet but I always ask for no sugar and they're pretty good about it. Another good dish: their green curry. I've also had the curry puffs (with ground chicken) - delicious. I love papaya salad but not a huge fan of the one from this restaurant. It's always too sweet.
Bottom line, Real Thai is really consistent in delicious, spicy, non-greasy food (at least what I've tried). Delivery is always fast. This place is def one of my go-to places to order in from on a weekly basis.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
