I've come to love the merchandise and staff of Re/Dress. Which is why I am more than a little bummed that the store will be closing (forever ever? forever ever.) on November 20th. Patrons with store credits, or cash amounts owed to them, are encouraged to visit before the store closing to clear out accounts. However, the online component of Re/Dress won't be leaving us, just the brick and mortar.
You'll be sorely missed, Re/Dress. I only ask that you think of me, think of me fondly when we've said goodbye. -

This store is one of the reasons I can never move away from New York City. I actually live in northern Manhattan but it is well worth the trio to BK. The stock is a good mix of vintage and practical items as well as some really cute accessories. Yes, there are some expensive items on the rack, but I just took home two pairs of brand new Abby Z work pants (retail $119.00 each), a hot pink houndstooth dress (I am obsessed with houndstooth!), a really cute quarter sleeve dress with lace trim, AND a vintage tunic for eighty bucks. Well, it would have been eighty bucks, but I was also able to sell some ill-fitting dresses and skirts to the store for merchandise credit, so the total I paid was less than five dollars!
Also, they have a cute husband corral under the stairs with comfy couches and magazines to look through - my honey didn't want to leave the chaise he was relaxing on when it was time to go. And they didn't say anything about him removing his shoes, either.
If you are looking for plus size or contemporary clothes this is the place to be - and it is awesome to support a business that supports fat positive culture to boot! -

I'm still a fan, and I still try to get down to Re/Dress about once a month (hey, it's a bit of a hike from Queens), just to poke about and see what's new in. I still think they're a FANTASTIC community resource, and I'm so glad they're there. And the teggings they sell are hella amazing, when you can get them in colors other than neon yellow or hot pink. But in 2011, the focus of the buyers seems to have skewed younger and younger, and I kind of want to say, "Hey, hold up, wait a second. I want to look good, but I don't actually want to dress like a teenager!" I think it's great that some of that stuff exists, but there seems to be less and less clothing (and frankly, more and more judgment) for those of us who might need to be (or simply want to be!) a smidge more conservative in our dressing habits. Not everyone wants to wear fuchsia to work--or can, for that matter.
Keep stocking the grown-up clothes, and I'll keep coming by to buy. I totally heart you, Re/Dress--please don't dump me for a younger gal! ;)1 Previous Review: Show all »

Manhattan, NY
Now let me preface this that I wanted to give this store a five... But that was before I visited it.
I trek out there on Saturday, they're closed. Okay, not a problem. A little disappointed but that's my fault I guess, for not calling. No hard feelings there.
Trek out there again today. UTTERLY disappointing. I'm probably around a size 14/16 and I can shop in most "straight" sized stores without a hitch, but vintage shopping is always a little harder. I was SO excited to come in this store because what I expected to find was not your typical "fat girl" attire...
However... That's exactly what it is. It is a little less "vintage" and a little more Goodwill from the 2X section. Yes, a few things have the tags on them, but that doesn't mean they're cute or something you can't find at Lane Bryant. Because most of their stuff IS Lane Bryant or Jones New York...
Walking through the store I felt tears of frustration because of the reviews that hyped it up. Its not even that it isn't my style, because I went with two other plus sized girls with distinctive styles and they walked out with nothing.
I'm not sure what they mean when they say their buy-back is stringent, because Conway carries some cuter clothes.
Le sigh.Comment from Deborah M. of Re/Dress NYC 7/3/2011

I honestly can't remember how I dealt with the ordeal that is clothes shopping before I went to Re/Dress.
Because if you're plus-sized, your options are pretty limited, and if you want something decent, you're often paying through the nose. Who wants that experience? I certainly don't.
But May of last year, after hearing a bunch of rave reviews on LiveJournal and seeing some ads in Bust, I finally decided to step in here and find that perfect dress to wear on my birthday. Not only did I find it, it was beautiful enough that I got the courage to wear it--you see, it was a halter top, and at the time I wasn't really comfortable showing my arms. But I bought a shrug, and eventually threw all caution to the wind and did without.
Since then I've been going here about once a month or so. Like most stores of its ilk, it can be very hit or miss--I was last there on Friday, and I bought a dress originally marked for $30, but I got it for $15 because they were having a 50%-off-everything-end-of-summer sale. But the few times before then that I had been there, I had come out empty-handed. Before that, though, I was getting entire outfits for under $30. I've never tried any of their vintage, or bought any of the new stuff they have (which runs small, BTW).
But despite my previous bad luck, I will continue to go here. Why? Because you never know, it's a friendly, welcoming environment with big fitting rooms (named after famous fat women of yore), and the shopgirls all have excellent fashion sense and are very helpful.
I also suggest subscribing to their newsletter so you're not left out of the loop for other events--my only regret is not going to enough. -

I adore this shop. It's very spacious as are the dressing rooms which are named after fabulous plus-sized divas and icons. They have basics, vintage, hand-made, modern styles, a mix of everything. The only problem with that is sometimes you won't find what you want. There have been days where I've walked out with a huge bag and days where I walked out empty-handed.
You kinda have to try your luck. Sometimes you find the perfect outfit/accesory, that will sometimes fit you and sometimes not. However it's not your neighborhood Lane Bryant although they do have pieces from Lane Bryant. It's a nice shopping experience. I also do appreciate that I can find clothes from Torrid here. It beats a trip on the Metro North. -

Looving this store. Clothes that actually fit you. Dressing rooms that are NOT teeny weeny and friendly staff to boot! ReDress...where have you been all my life.
The clothes are divided by sizes and easily organized. Since it's a vintage store and not thrift, some of the prices are a bit high, but I did find some great shirts for very cheap prices.
Finally--a store that caters to the woman with curves who wants to look good! I'm in love!
BTW: get on the listserv to learn about upcoming sales and events!
*****R.I..P Re/Dress. I know I'll find other stores to love but you will always have a special place in my heart. XOXO****Listed in: Thrift This!

I can't say enough good things about Re/Dress. I've shopped and sold clothes there and I looooove it. While living in NYC Re/Dress became my primary shopping stop. I found so many great finds, some vintage and some very upscale (love me some Abbey Z!), for a fraction of the cost. The staff are all wonderful and always willing to give a second opinion. To quote Ani DiFranco, there's even a "boyfriend holding pen" complete with lush couches.
The neighborhood Re/Dress is located in is pretty great too. You can do shopping for all types of things in the area. There's a Trader Joes so you can avoid the horrible lines at the Union Sq store. Or you can grab drinks and food from any plethora of awesome spots. It was definitely worth it to me to venture there from Roosevelt Island.
I feel that I should give the disclaimer that before trekking out there you should check their store hours, if they're closed for inventory etc, their buying hours and what seasonal clothes they're buying at the moment.
Sadly, I never had an opportunity to check out any of their events, but I love that this store has strong ties to the LGBTQ, fat positive, and feminist communities. Seriously, when was the last time you went shopping and were asked to donate money to a women's domestic violence shelter or to get a fat positive 'zine all by a bunch of hotties? This sounds so cheese food, but it's not just another store to throw cash at, but rather a community; a lifestyle. I'd love to see Deb and the gang open a store in Boston. In the meantime I'll be sure to hit their On the Road events. -

Life-changing.
What a revelation to find a store that's reasonably priced, cool, and quirky. Staff is genuinely friendly. Fitting rooms the size of Kansas. Comfy lounge to hang out in. And they actually seem to want my business! This might take some getting used to.
The vintage selection (clothing more than 20-years-old, mostly dresses) is very nice, everything clean and sharp-looking. The used selection is where most of the bargains seem to be, with a huge range of styles, from sequiny strapless things to Jones suits. The smallest selection is new from the manufacturer, but that's the only place that you'll find the same item in different sizes. Lots of jeans against the back wall, and shoes, belts, bags, and jewelry scattered throughout.
If you want to bring stuff in to sell, check the web site for guidelines first. They're pretty stringent (a good thing), so why schlep unless you've got a shot at unloading your duds? -

I was so excited to come here!
There are some original clothing designs by locals or small design houses. Also, there are new clothing lines specifically for plus size. I enjoy shopping the used clothing, because it is currently and the prices are really low. The vintage items here are amazing, however they are out of my price range right now. I was so happy to find such a wonderful selection of winter jackets and coats in plus size that were not only affordable, but very stylish.
All of the clothing is sorted by category, such as; pants, skirts, dresses, jackets, etc. I would prefer them sorted by category and also by whether they are; used, vintage, new lines, or small house/local designers.
The lounge area is pretty freaking awesome as well, it is a great place for people to wait around while you shop. The sales staff is super nice. The local designer section is really small, I would prefer to see more unique designs displayed.
I would love to see more locally owned plus size stores like this around the country. Maybe they should open more locations in the future. -

Picture it. October 2010. Exactly one week before my GF's mom's wedding & the first time I'd be face to face with the entire fam. I don't need to tell you that this size 16 genderqueer had to look absolutely FAB & be comfy at the same time. I procrastinated long & hard & as per usual- was beginning to develop irritability & anxiety thinking about where to begin to look for a great outfit that wouldn't require an entire paycheck or a full body-binding girdle. Thanks to the staff (especially Erin Bunny Burrows) my GF & I found amazing fall dresses both under $20 & in under 20 minutes.
Yes- the shop can be hit or miss. But so can any other shop. & Yes- they have very inexpensive items coupled with higher priced items (say Target vs Abby Z)- & isn't that nice? It does offer more for people who wear glitter, glam & vintage. Lots of dresses & skirts. Some but not much for those leaning far away from femme (Althou I have seen some fly masculine snap-button vintage tops). But I'm fluid & always find something. & p.s.- they have the coziest dressing rooms. Large enough for a private fashion show in there. I appreciate this most of all.
Persistence- my delectable chunky friends- is key here. Come often & ask for assistance & you won't be disappointed (even if you do leave empty handed once in a while...).
Love you Re/dress. Love you lots. -

This place is amazing. I usually pop in once a month or so to see what new stuff they have in - because they are ALWAYS getting in new stuff! Unlike a lot of other consignment/vintage stores that just seem to have the same things sitting there for ever and ever.
As a size 12/14, I love being able to walk into a store and have clothes fit and look good on me. I have never walked out of the place without buying something. It's my favorite Brooklyn find, by far. -

A must-visit for the fatshionistas of the world! I am willing to fly, drive, or walk across the continental United States just to visit this store. If you are a plus-sized woman who has ever dreaded clothes shopping or despaired of finding fashionable clothes that fit, you MUST visit Re/Dress while in New York City. It is a mind-blowing experience - a whole warehouse sized store dedicated to fatshionistas everywhere, of every stripe or persuasion. Whatever your style - Punk? Goth? Vintage? Funky? Conservative? Artsy? Re/Dress probably has something in your size and style. No more being limited to overpriced, ill-fitting blouses and trousers at Lane Bryant and Torrid.
Please open up a West Coast Re/Dress soon - preferably in San Francisco! -

Joined Yelp this morning specifically to review my experience at Re/Dress in Brooklyn; it's just that amazing.
I've been a plus-size gal my whole life, and have learned to accept that shopping typically means lugging a pile of garments into the fitting room, 50% of which won't fit onto my body at all, 40% that fit...sort of, except for that pinch here and that bulge over there, and the blessed 10% that fit...mostly. Even within that 10%, there are caveats; this dress will look great IF I find the right cardigan, that top will work IF I get a different bra, etc.
My experience at Re/Dress couldn't have been more different. I went in hoping to find at least 2 dresses. I spent nearly an hour browsing, and narrowed my choices down to 20 items to try on. Out of the 20, easily 12 pieces were winners. TWELVE. What the hell?! From there, I had to narrow things down to fit within my budget. I wound up with 4 pieces; 2 day dresses, an evening dress, one AWESOME vintage wrap top.
I cannot wait to visit again next time I'm in New York. My endless trudging through malls is over...why would I need to shop anywhere else? -

Can we say Heaven!! As that is what this shop truly is.
Deb., the owner really knows her stuff, and makes this store as accommodating as they come.
The merchandise is wonderful, and you'll find terrific deals on designer plus size apparel.
In addition there are full scale events at the store on a regular basis.
It's a little known fact, that all smart, plus size, fashionistas shop here. -

I don't know why, but this winter I really needed a coat but never got around to buying one.
Then one day, I stopped into ReDress and they were having their 50 percent off winter coat sale. Not only did I get a super warm puffer coat, but I also got a waist length faux fur. And what made it even better? I got both for a mere $32.50. That's right. $32.50.
What can I say about ReDress NYC that hasn't already been said? It's a complete and total gem. Since the first time I shopped at ReDress, I've always scored--whether I unload a few items that I didn't need/want anymore OR I found something to add to my already bulging closet--I've always considered myself lucky.
The staff is sincerely friendly and honest with shoppers--which is rare these days.
But the biggest reason I love ReDress: whenever I truly need an item or want something a little different, my answer is always right there on a rack. -

This store was near the top of my list to visit when I went to NYC. Its not always easy to find cool, vintage stuff in normal sizes, and ReDress has nothing but. The shopgirls were really nice and I have to say that the soundtrack in the store is awesome!
While I didn't find any clothes to bring home, I did pick up some cool hair accessories that one of the shopgirls makes herself.
I will definately be back! -

I'm bummed. Re/Dress had been my new favorite store for so many reasons, but now it's only okay. Browsing is still interesting and fun, but selling is a whole different experience. Deb wasn't there this time, and neither was her warmth. The demeanor of the woman who judged my things was chilly and snooty. She made no polite conversation. She looked through me and told me to go browse and leave her alone to do her thing. That's odd, why couldn't I observe? My friend and I did look around the store but we kept an eye on her. She rejected almost all of my things. The value she was giving me for the few items she accepted (25% of the resale price) didn't match up to the prices I had seen on similar items in the store, especially for jewelry. Her icy attitude and my feeling of distrust toward her really bothered me. I could have left the pile of rejected things at the store for them to donate to charity, but I decided to take it all with me and make sure it all got donated myself.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars so badly. The first time I had a great experience with the staff and the customers but I didn't find ANYTHING I liked. My second time today, I bought in some of my own clothes to sell to them. I got weird vibes from the women judging my clothing & she kept telling me that I didn't have to stand there that I could go browse, which seemed a little pushy & made me feel suspicious because I didn't want to pick items to buy without knowing how much I was getting for my clothes. She rejected 99% of my stuff and what she wanted totaled $40 cash or $60 store credit. I felt disappointed and was getting cold shoulder vibes from her I went back on the floor to try to find something to use my credit on. Again, I came back empty handed. I took cash instead of credit, gathered my rejected clothes & went over to the salvation army and dropped them off. I felt much better after I did that. I'm glad this store is here for the women who like the styles they carry. I wish there was a little more variety in there clothing. If you like large, flashy, costume jewelry, Jeans with different bits of flair on them, floral print dresses and misc shirts with prints on them, then this place is fine for you. I am simply too dykey for this store.

I spend an embarrassing amount of my free time in the store. I kind of can't believe I've never reviewed it before. Luckily for me (and all of us!) every member of the Re/Dress army is really welcoming. Re/Dress is a great buy-sell-trade shop, and so much more.
Re/Dress is a dream come true. They carry so many wonderful, unique, and fashionable pieces (both new-with-tags & gently used) in a variety of styles. Being game to try anything new/anything suggested by the kick-ass staff means that more often than not I go home with at least two or three great items -- sometimes many more. I've tested new looks, I've bought more daring pieces. I look better than I have in years and it's all thanks to shopping Re/Dress.
By the by, Deb & her Magic Re/Dress Army aren't only running a shop. They're also operating a center of awesome. The shop hosts readings, classes, workshops and more. Look, I could write you novels and it wouldn't give you the full experience. Trust me, get on the train or in a car or take a walk and just GO. You'll be so glad you did.Listed in: Quirk takes work, my friends

Oh Re/dress, with your racks of vintage clothing items, your dreamy staff, and your night time queer community events, you have become a wild thing in my head.
When I first stepped into RE/Dress, my breath caught in my throat, my heart started pounding like it had become a hummingbird, my eyes bugged out of my head, and steam poured out of my ears. RE/Dress literally has racks and racks of "lovely sized" clothing! They had so many incredible vintage dresses that pushing through them to find frocks to try on actually made me feel a little funny in my "bathing suit area".
But the fun doesn't stop here, nay, nay verily! Re/Dress also has modern stuff, and even designer stuff, carefully chosen and all in pristine condition (including and especially the vintage items). As a careful consumer with two closets full of clothing, and years of retail, I can tell a skilled buyer when I see one. Deb, the owner of RE/Dress is clearly a pro.
The dressing rooms are large enough to accommodate at least 5 lovely sized gals, (and their dates), the aisles are large enough to walk through, the lighting is lovely, and the whole place is very inviting, whether you're shopping or attending one of their social events.
If there was a way to give a 10 star rating, I'd do it in a hot second.
RE/Dress, you done gone and stole my southern heart. -

LOVE this store! Though I'm not spherical, I still err on the small side of plus... meaning around a size 14. I hate how small, cheap stores never have anything in my size. Re/Dress turns the tables on this completely!
They have an amazing selection of goodies for the chuleta in you, from vintage pieces that err on gleefully tacky to modern, sleek pieces ideal for work. I picked up a lacy bolero for TWENTY DOLLARS. It was a new piece too... so for those who are terrified of bedbugs in vintage clothing, they have plenty of new selections.
Shoes are limited, but interesting. Employees are also really helpful.
What I liked most about the store was the selection of eclectic jewelry.
I beg you, Re/Dress, PLEASE expand. I love your store but I don't always want to trek out to Brooklyn! -

Oh my goodness, my ass is gonna be STYLING even more now, thanks to Deb and her amazing cadre of lovely staff.
Caveat: I've been friends with Deb for years, and was thrilled to hear this woman with years of plus size fashion buying experience, fantastic personal style, and plus size activism was going to open a store filled with things that would fit ME! And not just me - folks of many sizes, shapes and curves.
The store is enormous, brightly lit, well appointed, comfortable, and spaced well for ease of shopping and browsing. Another fun little tidbit; Deb thought of her customers so much that there's actually space between the racks and large dressing rooms, so you're not squeezing between and knocking things down. I LOVE this place.
And of course, there's the inventory. Deb is a young woman with wonderful taste, so you have a wide variety of styles, fabrics, and cuts available, and nothing that makes you feel like a country duck granny like some women's stores I could name (ahem).
Last time I was in there, they were generous in their buying in, I got a great credit, and I got the most ridiculously sexy pimpin' fake Mongolian lamb jacket. Happiness!!
Seriously - if you are or know anyone who's over a size 12, get your lovely behind to Deb's beautiful shop. You'll be thrilled you did. -

AMAZING vintage store, aweasome accessories!!! I stumbled upon this GEM a few weeks ago and kept thinking of these Missy Elliot " fierce"black boots, so I went back and stumbled upon more gems and now I'm totally hooked on this place.
Despite the fact that Im a size 4 and the store caters towards women size 12 and up, the staff was nothing but welcoming and friendly. After chittchatting with one of the sale girls for a bit, I made a joke about possibly just having one little, measly little rack for the little people and she responded with a quick and very strong " but every single store out there caters to the little people" and true dat!!!
I cantt buy their clothes which is probably a good thing ( or I would buy the whole store and then be one extremely broke but aweasomely dressed vintage vagabond chick)...
But no worries ladies, the accessories are all One Size Fits All and they kept me satisfied to a T.
Their goods are all in amazing, practically brand new condition and the prices...shocking ( I mean adorable one of kind python-type bags from the 80's for $40.00). Missy Elliot boots, ankle booties from 1985, green metatllic flat sandals, lingerie , brand new underwear with words like "yummy" written on the back .And, lotd of scarves ! A bunch have caught my eye, particularly one that reminds me of pucchi design..mmm, vintage Pucchi..., YUMMY.
Go, go , go girls...small, big, black, white, Obama or Roseanne...you will love!
I have a feeling this place is going to be big time and of course, no pun intended.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I love Re/Dress in two different ways: first as a place to shop for my plus sized women friends, and secondly as a place where a queer guy can also pick up great dresses for himself in a helpful welcoming atmosphere. I used to live in San Francisco, and it was easy enough to try any kind of clothes on in the thrift stores and vintage shops, but since moving back to New York, I've found myself with no where to go to if I wanted to pick up clothes: the vintage places are too picked over, I never like the styling of clothes made for cross-dressing guys and everyone caters to tiny people anyway. It's tough to put together punky, fun genderqueer outfits.
I can go to Re/Dress with my friends, male and female, and we can pick up stuff, try it on in the generously sized dressing rooms and not get shamed for shopping. The sales help doesn't bat an eye at offering a helpful opinion about what works or what doesn't. And if you don't feel like looking through the abundant racks, there's a great lounge area.
I've never had anything less than a totally affirming and bargain filled experience there.
I should also say that the last outfit I bought there has gotten me nonstop action! -

Just thinking about shopping at Re/Dress gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. If you've been burned by poor vintage/thrift shopping experiences, just let the bad thoughts go and head to Re/Dress.
The location itself is pretty indicative of the whole Re/Dress experience. The store always feels spacious and bright, never cramped and musty like some lesser thrift stores. The selection at Re/Dress is usually very well curated - quality over quantity. Having a well chosen selection to browse through means that I can still find what I want without having to lose myself in a swamp of dusty clothing racks, so thanks for that! Also, prepare to be awed by the friendliness and helpfulness of every single staff member. Seriously, they are amazing.
As a modern 12, I was really excited to find vintage that didn't make me feel like a 10lb sausage in a 5lb casing. I know there were curvy girls in other decades, and I always wondered why their clothes were never making it to vintage stores. There are the usual oddball vintage dresses here, but also some really beautiful pieces at reasonable prices. Modern, thrifted clothes are similarly well chosen, you can get anything from a plain t-shirt for a few bucks to a great summer dress or even the beloved teggings (ask the shop girls). Accessories are hit or miss, with a pretty decent selection of cocktail jewelry but usually just a half-full rack of bags and belts, and a table of shoes. I'd love to see more pick up in this area but for now I'll just take the awesome clothes!
Oh, and did I mention that this is one of the best places in the whole city for thrift/vintage sales? Keep up with them through email or Facebook because honestly, sometimes they are practically giving the clothes away with their amazing deals. Now that I've sufficiently expressed my fangirlish love for all things Re/Dress, all I have left to say is go there, ASAP. -

I have no idea why I waited so long to go to Re/Dress. It's a miracle of a store. Wait, I know why I waited--I live in Queens and it takes 3 days to get to Brooklyn.
But travel time be damned, I'll be a regular at Re/Dress because it's too perfect. I'd love for them to offer some more "new" stuff from some of the great designers on etsy and other places. But wait, they're having a trunk sale in September that will satisfy that need. And they ordered in a bunch of the Evans Beth Ditto stuff. So ignore that mini-complaint.
I left from my first visit with a wrap skirt imprinted with ice-cream cones, an adorable pink printed skirt, and a hot red going-out kind of top--and it was all so darn cheap. I sure as heck wasn't going to find that in the big-girls section at Target.
Oh, and everyone--staff and customers--rocks. Nice, helpful, and dressed to kill.Listed in: Plus-Size Clothing in NYC

I'll be honest. The most exciting part of my weekend getaway to NYC was being able to spend my Monday in this store. I'm a short, chunky girl and finding clothes that fit are hard to find. I was worried that this store was going to be expensive boutique-y, but it was just the opposite. I scored some amazing deals and got some beautiful items.
I bought two skirts, a dress, jeans, two belts (that fit!), two tanktops, and a pair of bike shorts (for under the dress).
Thats right. They sell bike shorts by the bucketful and I found that to be very comforting.
The fitting rooms are all hilariously named after voluptuous women: Nell Carter, Divine, Mama Cass. I packed my Nell Carter fitting room with a bunch of clothes. Being able to try on as much as I wanted was awesome.
The staff was helpful and supportive. I highly HIGHLY recommend this store for anyone that has difficulty finding clothing in their size. It was such a treat. I might have to plan trips seasonal trips down there just to shop around. -

As good as it gets! I met Re/Dress at the Brooklyn Flea and I couldn't be happier to find an ENTIRE brick+mortar STORE full of all the hot styles I saw at the booth this summer!
Vintage shopping is always hit or miss for me at a modern size 18/20- to have an entire vintage shop full of things to actually try on is like finally getting that pony I wanted for my birthday ;-) -

This store is absolutely fabulous! They have an excellent selection of vintage clothing, as well as a neat assortment of more contemporary "trendy" stuff and new-with-tags clothing. The sales staff here is fantastic. They're extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the items they sell. The fitting rooms are huge! The accessories are wonderful, too. On my first visit I walked out with a vintage pleated dress, a pair of leopard print leggings, a velvet beret, an owl ring, a silk Chinese jacket and a snazzy modern minidress.
Despite all the fantastic clothes in this store, I did notice several duds in their racks - ironic considering their supposedly stringent buying policies. Also, the prices for the new-with-tags items was off-putting, given the quality of those particular items. For these reasons I gave Re/Dress four stars instead of five. -

Re/Dress was overwhelming. I just went in expecting a humbly sized (read: typical ny) boutique w/ plus-sized vintage-inspired over priced clothes. Why? Because actual plus-sized vintage is hard enough to find, let alone good-looking vintage, so I expect to pay a premium for the privilege.
What I actually found was racks upon racks of sexy vintage clothes that effing fit me (a curvy 16/18). The store was far larger than I thought it would be. The fitting rooms were adorable and generously sized. They even had a cute little sitting room for me to put my boyfriend in while I utterly lost my mind at the sight of so many vintage dresses & sweaters that fit over my boobs (he's such a trooper). There were plenty of shirts & sweaters under $20. Accessories were also priced well. The dresses cost a bit more (in the $50-$60 range for some) but all the clothes were in fantastic shape, no renegade stains or tears. The place was so large & well stocked I didn't get a chance to go through all of the dress & coat racks and ended up not looking at pants at all and I was there for at least an hour and a half. They had a surprisingly large denim selection I wanted to peruse.
On top of all that, the sales people were just the sweetest most adorable bunch of ladies you could ever meet. I couldn't believe I was in NY for a moment.
Everything I picked up fit. Everything was adorable; the store is very well curated. I've never been able to go into a thrift store and just get whatever I thought looked attractive. I was just excited to be there. Now I know why petite girls dig shopping so much. This is my new favorite vintage store hands-down. -

So, I learned of Re/Dress from an event posted on Yelp..but I couldnt make it so I decided to check it out this past sunday!! Oh my..am I glad I did. This place is the freaking best..they have everything..clothes, bags, jewerly, belts, coats, bags..they might have evening wear!!! First of all I was not expecting the space to be so large and I wasnt expecting on leaving there with 3 pair of jeans and a jean jacket...BTW...2 pair of the jeans the the jacket were brand new...never worn!!! I felt so good about my purchases because the staff were extremely nice..and helpful!!! As soon as I left I called all of my friends that were a size 14+ and they are all looking forward to a re/dress experience..
The dressing rooms are so cute (pics to follow) they are tents and each tent is named after a plus size celebrity...like the tent I tried clothes on in was Nell Carter from the Gimme a Break...memba her? Anywho....I love the place...I will mos def go here before I go to the commerical stores!
Oh shoot I almost forgot...the prices are amazing...I had to double look at the stuff I purchased....like WTF..am I seeing what I think I am seeing!!! You could literally go in there was $100 and come out with bags of goodies!!! -

I went here after reading the reviews here on Yelp and I'm so glad I went!!! The place was fantastic! Great service, great people, and cute dressing rooms. My boyfriend went with me so instead of having to follow me everywhere, they have a little lounge there to sit and read magazines...it was so cute :)
The staff was so friendly. I didn't want to spend too much time there so I only picked up one thing (and it's hard for me to find clothes that fit me well) but overall I am def stopping by again. The only thing is I wish they had a more extensive array of jeans.
I LOVE DIS STOREEE! :) just proves that we big gurls are fashion concious too... -

My experience at re/dress was nothing short of delightful. My friend has read about re/dress in TONY and had been meaning to go since forever, when we finally made the trek, we were nothing short of enchanted. Because the sign claims that they serve sizes 14+, she was concerned I wouldn't really have anything to look at... (I'm a 10-12 depending on the day of the week)... But I actually found clothes that made me look and feel AWESOME, and so did she! Everything we tried on, we gushed over... I raised my eyebrow at the cost of a few items, but, for the most part, my jaw dropped at the affordability of most of the clothes AND accessories (I got a necklace for $4!) My most expensive pick was $54, but most of them were in the $10-$15 range. The staff (and hair-bow puppy) were extremely friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back and see what they have next time.

I've been to Re/Dress twice already, and they just opened, and I've been thinking about what to write about it...
OK, I'm biased, Deb is my friend. And I knew that I could rave about the look of the store, and the wide variety of cool clothes, and the fabulous and friendly staff. But I'm glad to see that I don't have to, because others already have!
So here's the piece I want to add: Go look re/dress up on facebook. There are a couple of reasons to do this. First, there have been some updates about new cool clothing coming into the store and you want to be in the know. But second, you'll see that redress is literally about celebrating your beauty. They'll be honest if something doesn't fit you quite right, and help you find something else that does. They'll be just as thrilled as you are when you find that perfect piece! They'll make you a model, if you want!
Fabulous plus-size clothing, reasonable prices. Warm genuine low key appreciation of our gorgeousness, priceless. -

Really great and affordable options for the curvy girl. So many great things to choose from its often overwhelming (take some time out to sift though their vintage collection). I went there for the first time about a month ago and am now addicted.

whoever hates on this place is an absolute weirdo. yeah... i SAID IT!!!! weirdo. how anyone could dislike Re/Dress is something i could never comprehend. great prices, cute dressing rooms, helpful and amazing staff- this place cannot go wrong. i hope it stays here forever.
usually, shopping for me can get a little frustrating. i happen to be a person who knows what cuts, seams and styles look best on me... but it doesn't mean those things are easily obtainable. i like having a place where i can find dozens and dozens of pieces without getting annoyed! my problem is that my body type isn't big enough for typical Plus Size clothing stores... but i'm not small enough for the Regular Size clothing. so where do i stand? ugh. from a HUGE rack to PANCAKE-butt, i just can't win. well, yes i can. @ Re/Dress.
vintage, trendy and actually flattering/not--so-matronly-looking threads... i love it here! this is your go-to spot for last minute outfit shopping or if you want to spend an afternoon sifting through the racks. either way, i never leave this place without trying on 10-20 outfits.
the buy/sell/trade portion on Re/Dress is sensational, too. the turnaround is about 30-40 mins depending on how much stuff you have. however, i will recommend only bringing small amount at a time in case they don't want to buy a lot of your stuff. it's depressing and you have to lug that crap all the way home. well, unless you plan on donating it right then and there!
p.s.
i once came in here and fell in love with the whole ensemble a mannequin was rockin'. i was drooling over the leopard print dress with the red bolero and i kept inching my way to the mannequin for only god knows how many times. i was about to leave the store when one of the staff ladies asked if i would like to try it on. i bashfully declined. she said it wouldn't be any trouble at all to strip the whole mannequin NAKED. wow... that turned me on.
so, i ended up trying it on. it looked so marvelous, i swear the other staff members who saw me come out of the dressing room almost shed a tiny tear. ah... how good it feels to look so damned hot. muahaha.
