I have to say I was a little disappointed, maybe because so many people had hyped up this place for me that I was expecting a whole other experience, or maybe I went on a off day.. I will start off by saying that I will have to give it another go and see but for now.. I stick to just alright...The food was ok for what I ate, nothing that screamed OMG! I must have this again and again.. The place was like in other reviews I read set up like a Joes Crab Shack. The Swamp Things that apparently was there most popular drink from the looks of everyones table were not as good as those from Pappadeauxs but maybe I was biased in comparing the two. The stuffed shrimp was pretty good served with bland white rice seemed like boil in a bag type. The crawdaddy fondue with the garlic toast was good. Service was fair, our waiter seemed really busy and came by vaguely since we werent in a hurry anyway I didnt even hold that against him. I guess I was expecting a jumping place from what I was told and all I found was a regular busy restaurant with nothing that stood out above the rest. Then the bathrooms were dirty that right there is a huge NO NO in my book! they do offer gator tail if your interested in trying that, the boiled crawfish looked and smelled really good, we just didnt try them so that would prob be my only reason to return.. I will say the food is very spicy seasoned so if you do not like extremely spicy food, this place is not for you...

Now this is slightly more authentic cajun food. Not that I've actually experienced REAL Cajun food before, but this jambalaya has the spice and kick that I was hankering when I got jambalaya at Elephant Bar.
This place seemed kitchy...a little over the top, kinda like Joe's Crab Shack. A lot of paraphanelia on the walls and wooden walls....t-shirts. Well a bunch of us trainees were hankering for some real food...man...our food at training was just not....yeah let's say it made Guck food look really good.
Appetizers (or what they call "Le First Chomp")
~ Fried Gator Tail ~
Alligator Tail with seasoned fries and cocktail sauce.
Nothing really special about this except it's alligator. Try alligator if you like the meat to look like chicken and have the texture of pork.
~ Crawdaddy Fondue Dip ~
Crawfish tails in cream sauce with garlic butter toast.
I can see why Texas is reknowned for their...*ahem*....hefty people. The garlic butter toast was toasted with the right amount of garlic and butter combination. The dip was...*drooool*. Better than artichoke and spinach dip.
~ Rat Toes ~
Shrimp and crab stuffed jalepeno battered and fried with cool buttermilk dip.
Love the combination of seafood in jalepeno...just awesome.
Entree
~ Grilled Gator Tail ~
Pure white, gator meat over jambalaya with BBQ "ouch sauce"
Mmmmm now this is what you call jambalaya. Spicy, but not too spicy that you'd need a pitcher of milk next to you to douse the flames in your mouth. It had okra and sausage as well as shrimp. Really one of the best rice dishes I've had in a while.
I had a taste of the stuffed fish. SO GOOD. I quite recommend the stuffed fish for a slightly lighter feel.
No dessert though their bread pudding was really really tempting to buy. The guys and gal ;) had the Shiner Bock beer, one that is only available in certain states, but primarily available in Texas. I don't particularly like beer, but this wasn't too over powering. It had a slight nutty taste to it which is yummy to me since I like nutty things.
Our server was pretty good about refilling our drinks and making sure that the guys had their beers. The food took a while to come to us and yeah they put us in the corner. While we were waiting for the rest of our group, we had gone to the bar and sat in a booth to just chill and one of the waitresses kind of barked at us saying that we shouldn't be sitting there unless we were seated by the hostess/host.
Overall it was good. Very rich food and the price is comparable to those in other states. Garlic butter toast...came with every plate which were HUGE. It does come bigger in Texas. Come here when you're NOT on a diet....Or want to break it ;)
