Going tonight and all I can think about are those damn Apple Pancakes.

Oh and the Kielbasa, Kasha, Goulash, Huge Beers, Friendly Service, Smiles on the faces of me & my dining companions, Sweet Cream, Beets... yum.

When you can combine very reasonable prices with incredible food and friendly service, you have a very special place.

A few years ago I was introduced to Raymund's by my friend/sup/landlord who is Polish and used to live in Greenpoint.  It was my first experience with Polish food - a cuisine that is exquisite in its simplicity!  I had the best chicken cutlet, carrots and potatoes I have ever had,

I learned that Raymund's has always used only the freshest ingredients and never used trans-fats, even when it was legal to do so! Also that it is a family run business so everyone has a vested interest in serving only the very best.

A little while ago they redecorated the restaurant and put in these weird curved tables...I am not a fan. I miss the workingman's look! Luckily the food, service and even the prices remained great, so Raymund's, sans the curved tables, remains near the top of my list for fresh food and friendly service! What is more impressive is that it continues to survive in a neighborhood where snobby, overpriced restaurants are considered hip and the local authentic restaurants are often ignored!

UPDATE: RUMOR IS THAT THEY WERE BOUGHT OUT AND CLOSED AFTER MAY 30, 2011. ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE GENTRIFICATION IN GREENPOINT/WILLIAMSBURG.  IF TRUE, IT IS REALLY SAD!

Ever wonder how many different types of potatoes you can eat in one meal? Go to Raymund's and you'll truly be amazed. First of all, they serve up the absolute best perogi I've ever tasted. Glistening, fried, bursting with savory mashed potato, cheese, meats. Add in a side of chopped bacon, cold cucumber salad and hot sauerkraut and you'll enter into a food coma slash starch overdose that only 14 hours of sleep will cure.

But that's not all. Before you indulge in perogi heaven, get an order of the potato pancakes with a side of apple sauce. Smear 'em in sour cream and dip in apple sauce...can you say potato bliss? My friend ordered up the chicken cutlet (fried) with potato pasta (fried) and the cuke salad (creamed).

Basically, you'll leave fat and sweaty from all the fried taters. And if you're like me, you'll then marvel at the fact that there are so many Polish supermodels (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=a...).

Best home cooked Polish food on the Northside.  You'll feel like you are having dinner at a Polish Family's house.

All the staples are excellent and cheap.  Kielbasa, pierogies, schnitzel, goulash etc.

The service is laid back and good.

Good selection of Polish beers of course.  Very reasonable priced.

    'Nuff said.

It's actually called Raymund's, but I'll go with the flow here.

Definitely a great fresh meal every time.  Potato pancakes, beef goulash, schnitzel, kielbasa, and 'the polish plate' are among my favorites.

Don't forget to order fried potato noodles with your entree.  Legend.

It is total bullshit that Yelp lacks a category for Eastern European food. They've got a whole category for Burmese food? That country doesn't even have credit card machines or the Internet! Meanwhile they're omitting an entire region consisting of countries with tons of working credit card machines and a thriving Internet porn industry. Bullshit.

Raymund's Place serves very affordable, Polish home style cuisine. The menu isn't that different than other Polish restaurants you may come across in New York, but what sets Raymund's Place apart from most are the hearty portions, and fresh dishes (fewer items are precooked). It's probably the cheapest and best sit down dinner you can have on Bedford Ave - probably because everybody is too busy patronizing the extreme fondue or vegan cupcake bar.

I love Raymund's on a rainy day...or any day for that matter. The fried combination pierogies (sauerkraut+mushroom, potatoes+cheese, and meat) with sour cream are absolutely delicious. If my plate were not already dominated by hot sauerkraut and cold beet salad, I believe I could have eaten two more orders.

Completely unpretentious atmosphere and cheap Polish beer makes this a great place for chilling with some friends. Just remember to bring cash!

Raymund's offers soul-warming Polish comfort food of a far higher quality than the place down the street. The potato pancakes will change your life.
The decor used to be like an authentic version of Lodge, but since the update is somewhat sunnier. I'm not sure that I'm a fan.

Can you find enlightenment by eating potato pancakes because I think I did last night. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 5 of us shared an order and it was more than enough to go around. I got the veg combo pirogies with a side of kasha and corn. AND of course some Polish beer. I can't wait to go back again.

Holy mother of jesus, I just got stuffed like a motherfucker. Cute place, great food (I mean for polish food and all - kidding! kidding!), fantastic prices... did I mention beer is $2.50? Big hearts for that. I'll definitely be back very soon.

One of the best places to have authentic polish food in Greenpoint. Try their beef goulash with kopitka with a side of mizeria (cucumber salad)....it is an amazing dish, so many different flavors culminating into one very terrific polish cuisine experience and follow it with a nice cold glass of zywiec beer and you're in heaven. If you're into a bit lighter fare, try their white borscht soup!

A great deal.  Excellent schnitzel.  Amazing Kielbasa.  Not what you'd consider heart-healthy food, but better than anything on Manhattan Ave.  If you want a nice home-cooked polish meal, this is your place.

have definitely had better.  raymund's is also a little deceptive with their pricing, my roomate can attest as he ordered the 2 eggs and kielbasa and it was tiny.  there are other options in greenpoint which will deliver a better experience.
