The Irresistable lives up to it's name, without question. The best of both worlds - buffalo chicken versus cheesesteak - is captured within this delicacy. I typically don't consume sandwiches a la Rutgers grease-truck variety often, but when the rare craving hits again, I'll have a great idea of where to head. The addition of fries and mozzarella sticks into the Irresistable may be the be-all to end-all of coma-inducing sandwiches. Or in the least, a highly honorable mention. The rest of the menu had some great sounding sandwiches to work through as well, and it's location provides a great opportunity to take in thrice the amount of calories just worked off in an epic Sleeping Giant hike.

Great deli in Hamden! Try their buffalo chicken and steak and cheese or try both on a single sandwich called "The Irresistible!" Great bunch of guys and gals and I go here sometimes several times a week to eat.

Ohhhhh Ray and Mike's how delicious you are.
Heart attack inducing day (compliments of Ray and Mikes) that would be totally worth it:
Breakfast: egg sandwich. The fam loves Taylor ham, egg and cheese but we'll lighten it up for breakfast since we'll be killing ourselves later: egg white wrap with turkey and hot sauce. Mmmmmmm
Lunch: well you didn't kill yourself over breakfast so let's not feel bad about ordering my favorite guilty pleasure - buffalo chicken. Ray and Mike's is just phenomenal. Go for it.
Dinner: what was that? you're hungry six hours later? Don't worry... Ray and Mike's can cover this too. Order a giant steak and cheese with the works and hot sauce (hmmm... is there a theme going on here?). I'm fairly sure the giant is about a yard long so feel free to invite a crew over.
There are a million other great options, but those are my favorite. Go, try something, and please tell me if you manage to finish a giant. No, it's not the cleanest place ever but those of us who have been going for years like to endearingly call it a "hole in the wall". -

Absolutely love love love their sandwiches. Even better when I send someone else out to get my food because the staff is kind of annoying. Would be better if they had something where you just check off what you want in your sandwich put it up for order and then grab it. Definitely could be a little cleaner but I've never had a better sandwich in my life. The steak and cheese and chicken cutlet are to die for.

Basic sanitation practices lacking. The last time I stopped in to get some deli meats-both 'cutters' handled all the meats bare handed, sliced them on the machine, then grabbed the meat in their hands and transferred it to a pile on the scale across the room.
I was snickered at when I asked the guy to wash his hands or put on gloves.
See ya. -

Best sandwiches in town. Love everything on their menu. But my favorite would probably be the Italian combo. Just have never found a better Deli around and honestly do not want to even try looking.
A must EAT! -

Trying to eat an entire "giant" steak and cheese for lunch by yourself will result in leftovers for dinner

I've been to this place about 7 times and each time I hope it will be better than the last...but it doesn't.
This place is run down, seems dirty, the staff are incredibly rude/argumentative and don't know much about quality food. The last time I was here there were flys everywhere. The staff, no matter what time I have been here, don't like to answer any questions.
This place needs a serious renovation, new staff, and quality food in order to appeal to a wider range of clientele.
I won't be going back. -

Still the best sandwich hands down I've ever had. The place is disgusting from a cleanliness perspective, but damn that food is good. Convenient location near Quinnipiac, lots of sides / chip options. Since I've moved, I've been trying to find a place that can match Ray and Mikes in making my favorite roast beef sandwich...no luck yet.

Ray and Mike's makes some really good, quality subs, and they're reasonably priced. I got the steak and cheese last time I went, and it made for a very satisfying lunch. I keep hearing about how good the buffalo chicken sub is, so I have to go back soon. It's nice option for takeout either on my way home or when I find myself stuck at school.

Chicken Philly, American Cheese, Onions Peppers= greatest sandwich ever.
They'll customize everything they've got, have some pretty awesome specials (Hot turkey and gravy with cranberry sauce on a roll? Hell, yes. A decent BBQ pulled pork in CT? Pure deliciousness) and if you don't mind the cramped quarters, you won't go anywhere else for a sandwich.
Call ahead to avoid the lines (or fax!)
I miss you, Ray and Mike's. -

We recently moved to Connecticut from Michigan and were desperate to find a good, inexpensive sandwich shop. Well, we finally found one tonight - I had a fabulous hot turkey sandwich on a hard roll (which was so so good) and my husband had the highly recommended buffalo chicken sub. Good price, high quality meat. Can't complain. We will definitely go back there again.
