    WE LOVE RAVI'S!!

The garlic naan here is the best I have ever tasted. You can't go wrong with dhal curry, mushroom masala, garlic naan, and rice. This is comfort food at its finest. The only downside is that you are prone to falling asleep right after you eat, but we'll keep coming back for the cozy atmosphere, authentic Indian service, and garlic naan. :)

    Great South Indian food!

The waiter service isn't so great, as they are kind of short staffed. I wish they had a buffet though.

Their food is great though. We get a variety of things from here:
Onion Kulcha, Vegetable Korma (great), Vegetable Thali (provides a chance for you to try a variety of things in one dish), Rava Crispy Masala Dosa, & Sambhar (BEST EVER).

Went here for the first time with my sister for dinner last night.

The place is clean and airy so you don't smell like Indian food when you leave, definitely an A+ for that.

So they have your typical Indian food and come in two different dinner choices. They have the "thali" which is a full course dinner, comes with 1 entree, 3 small soups, rice, naan, yogurt salad, and dessert of the day. The 'a la carte' (honestly I don't even think it's called that) comes with 1 entree and your choice of rice or naan.

This place is family owned so different people were serving us. There are no refills on the ice tea (which I thought was weird), only on the soda. The mango lassi is pretty good, but way too sweet for me.

For appetizer we ordered the vegetable samosas. They are really good. I like the fact they put it in a pastry dough that is made there and not a puff or philo dough like most places. The samaosa isn't strong with spices like 'Curry in a hurry' in Redlands, so some may like this place better since the spices aren't so strong.

The sister ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. The soup base for this is excellent. Very good, but the chicken was white chicken breast so it seemed a bit dry and didn't match well with the broth.

I ordered the Aloo -something- -- it's exactly like the Saag Paneer but with potatoes instead of cheese blocks. This dish has spinach, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and spices. This was a bit salty for me, so for me I didn't like it too much.

The soups that came with the dinners were lentil soups. There was one sour/spicy soup (it was tomato based) I didn't like. The other two were ok but not my cup of tea. The yogurt salad that came with the meal was good though. It was strangely good. lol.

Naan is naan, garlic or not. You really can't mess up naan. It came out fresh and had spring onions on it. Wasn't too thick like Gul Naz down the street, but wasn't too thin either. Good naan. Probably something you want to order separately since you get 2 pieces for each person. The food they give you is enough to fill you up even if you think "that's it?"

All the meals that come with rice is just regular Jasmine rice. If you want the Bastami rice you need to order it separately. I found this odd because every other Indian place I've been too has only been Bastami rice.

The dessert of the day was a homemade ice cream with (condensed) milk, pistachios, and cardamon. I'm sure there was other stuff, but this is what the guy told me. This dessert was oddly good too, but they should warn people before they give it to them, because some people maybe allergic to nuts (as you may not see them) and/or lactose intolerant.

I actually ate my all and was in the toilet for a while T_T No bueno. It was good, but no bueno on the stomach. From what I could taste they used 2 milks, reg and condensed, and I dislike condensed because of the sweetness. It's like a pure sugar cane in there.

The bathrooms were nice and clean. Decorated so no quams there.

Service wise, they attended to us throughout dinner service, it wasn't until we were done and ready to leave is when they fell off the face of the earth. Not sure what it is with places that give you good/great service the entire time, until you are ready to get the bill.

I would definitely come back here, but I would try other foods.

OH my! I don't recalled how many times we have eaten here... Years if not decade, LOL... Wonderful Indian food I was feed with LOTS of spices.. HOTTT!!!! Yet, after few times of my burning tongue, the flavor comes out and the curry is yummy!!!! Yet, each time anything was ordered was in EXTREME hot requests and this place knows 'what is spicy'! I love the garlic naan here and their masala is very tasty...

This is a place sure a place for anyone who likes Indian food and want to try some good food.  Good hot food, that sure will burn your mouth so be careful with the heat request.

I absolutely adore Indian food but haven't had much in the way of Southern Indian, so I jumped at the chance to head up into the Inland Empire and feast.

Our group started with meat samosas and chili pakoras, two items seemingly difficult to find around us.  The meat samosas were okay--I prefer the potato-filled vegetarian variety instead of cinnamonized lamb--but the chili pakoras were delicious and fresh.  Some were mild, some were killer; that's the nature of the game.  We also ordered pappadums and they came out fried and crisp, just the way I like them.  The oil used in all these was very fresh, no off or rancid flavor like some more questionable joints I've patronized.

For dinner I ordered the saag paneer thali.  Saag paneer is my test dish for any new Indian restaurant; I find it an accurate barometer of what to expect in general, since it's a simple yet delicious dish of cooked spinach and cheese, but often underspiced or bitter if the cook doesn't really know what they're doing.  I ordered it spicy and while it came out nicely spiced, it wasn't actually very spicy.  Very flavorful, however, and very enjoyable despite the medium heat.  The thali also came with a giant heap of rice and three little bowls with dal, sambar, and another soup.  The dal and sambar were decent but I could have drunk a giant bowl of the last soup, especially with the fresh puri that came with the thali.  Sour but balanced, like an Indian tom yum.

We also ordered a masala dosa to split.  I've had dosas before and I want to love them but I never have.  Sadly Ravi's masala dosa was the same.  It looked good and the texture of the pancake was nice and crisp but the potato filling made me shrug, though that could be because I was already stuffed.  On the side however were two absolutely fantastic sauces I've never had before, one more mild, one spicy.  Someone said the mild was coconut.  I'm not sure what it was but if I had had any room left I would have scarfed that up with some dosa or puri or anything else I could get my little greedy mitts on.

Dessert we had cashew kulfi, included with the thali, and chai.  Both were excellent examples of their type, though the tea was per cup, no refills.

I wish there was a Ravi's outpost closer to home, I'd happily eat there every week.

Ravi's is consistently good, and I don't end up with a stomach ache as I do EVERY TIME I go to Delhi Palace.  Their lunch special is a very good deal, and they serve South Indian food as well as vegetarian curries made with gluten.  I don't know how I would survive in the I.E. without their dosa.  And I'm not joking.

Don't expect excellent customer service and at lunch your wait time might be long, but the food is worth it.  It has been Americanized a bit, but not as bad as some other places in the area.  Try the chicken curry, the mixed pakoda plate, the chicken tikka, and of course, the dosa.

I love Ravis and have been going for years. The lunch specials are always great and so are the Thali dinners. Pretty much you can't go wrong with chicken curry.

As far as the customer service goes, it has never been top notch. They aren't very friendly. Don't expect a "your welcome" when you say "thank you". That's just how they are. I've noticed that the people are friendlier at dinner than at lunch. This is usually when I see the person who I assume is the owner and he is very friendly.

Ravis food really is amazing and isn't overpriced. Try it!!

Not many places serve south indian food, and when i find a place in the inland empire, I am excited. This place is owned by a family from Andhra Pradesh, and it shows in their cooking.

The flavors are good, they do use a lot of coconut in their dishes for extra flavor and texture, a very andhra thing to do. The food is tasty, including the thali meals, which will give you a taste of south indian food such as sambhar and rasam.

This is not a fancy place, and the decor is ok.  Service is quick, and the food is flavorful.  This is a good spot in the inland empire for good Indian food, esp if you're craving South Indian you don't have any other choices.

So I just returned to Ravi's a couple of days ago and I feel like I need to update my review. I came in for a chicken curry lunch special. It's a great deal for $6 (with tax) and it comes with the chicken curry, rice, 2 salads, soup, samosas and 3 pieces of nan bread.

The only thing memorable was the soup. Everything was pretty bland. I don't know... maybe it's because after my first experience at Ravi's... I have ventured off to other Indian restaurants that are far superior when it comes to taste and quality (i.e. Delhi Palace). The samosas were blah, the curry was forgettable, the salads and rice were meh.... and the nan bread.... Seriously who can get nan bread wrong? Ravi's served this "nan bread" which was honestly the worst serving I ever had. I rather buy crackers than eat this.

Now for customer service... the waitress was nice and accommodating but the owner (I believe) seemed very cold and not nice.

Everytime I get Indian food I always had an amazing experience, even the first time I came to Ravi's. But now that streak has ended. Honestly, the place is okay but now that I have tried more Indian restaurants that I can say that are more superior and yummy than here.

This place is good for lunch during a nice school day. Service sucks here though. No real organization. You seem to be barely acknowledged by staff (who works here anyways?) The curry lunch specials are delicious and the naan is always fresh. I really like the curry cabbage. It is just an odd place to eat. The food is good, dont get me wrong. It just seems like you are visiting a cold neighbors house and being served by the family. Weird?! Sometimes service is a bit slow too. I hate thatit is closed on TUESDAYS?! whats up with that?

I love Ravi's! Their lunch special is a great deal and everything is so tasty! Their dahl soup is wonderful, nice and thick, with lots of flavor. I've tried quite a few of their chicken dishes, as well as the beef curry, and have never been disappointed. The meat is always extremely tender and the sauces always taste decadent. If you have the room, you should get one of their mango lassies. I'm having a Homer moment thinking about one right now . . .

I've seen this place for years, I had just never tried it, boy did I miss out. The boyfriend and me stopped in for dinner. I ordered the Lamb curry meal, medium (it came with 3 little soups, a generous serving of rice and garlic naan), everything was flavorful, and delish. my boyfriend ordered Lamb Marsala he said it was great :) Service was very friendly, not the fastest but well worth the wait, we will be going back again.

I went here once before in high school and from what I remember it was fantastic. I went here today with a couple friends and it was just as good as I remember.

I ordered the veggie curry lunch special which came with a ton of food; salad, naan, two soups, an appetizer and of course the main dish. The portions of everything are perfect and it really is a lot of food for $4.75. My friend and I didn't understand that all that food is included, you don't get to pick which appetizer from the normal menu you want for example, so we unknowingly ordered two appetizers on top of all this food. Opps! Still it was great.

We also brought in a coupon for a free appetizer (on the website, print it!) so we ended up with a whole bunch of food for four small women. Left overs were plentiful but at least I have enough for lunch and maybe dinner tomorrow!

We had take out for the team a few days ago and my colleague picked it up. The food here is pretty good. They have the Thali vs A La Carte. I love indian food and I wanted leftovers so I paid the extra $2-3 for the Thali. I ordered the lamb vindaloo (spicy) and it came with rice, 2 types of soup, a yogurt, and a dessert.

Lots of little styrofoam cups. The vindaloo was good, the rice was expired (I know leftover rice when I taste it!) and the soups were good.

I rid the yogurt and indian dessert because they just weren't my thing so I can't comment on those. Other folks who ordered it seem to enjoy it.

The price was more expensive than I would like for Indian food. I know indian food for lunch is cheap, but I suppose you can up the price a few bucks for dinner and still serve the same amount. I think that's totally unfair but I suppose that's how you make the money in this bad economy.

I think this is the first time I've ever dined at an Indian restaurant and It was yummmy! We ordered so much.

A few of them were Tandoori Chicken, a lot of naan, palak paneer, this soup, and some other type of chicken that I can't remember.

Anyway, the food was good! The service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

The first place I ever had East Indian food still measures up!!  Yaaaaaaaay!!!

Many years ago, this restaurant was called the "Maharaja" and was voted Best Indian Food Cuisine in S. Calif by the readers of a few local newspapers (including the L.A. times).  Since then it's changed its name to Ravi's... but the quality of the food has remained the same.

I've had quite a few good memories here.  I treated my late father to lunch here once.  The last time the wife and I had east Indian food was 4 years ago in Santa Barbara - and those of you who have read my Yelps know what an utter DISASTER that was due to the rude manager and wait staff.  Recently, though, we decided to try and give it another go.  The waiters here are far more friendly - though they still have that peculiar custom of mainly addressing the male of the party.

Fortunately my wife's palate isn't so sheltered as it once was - and she really enjoyed herself.  I love their curry dishes and the wife's become a fan of their Chicken Tikka Marsala.  They are soooooo good.  And try the Poori - the puffy bread.  So good by itself or to dip into the various sauces and soups and the like.

If your new to Indian food - try their ala cart dinners.  More daring? Go for the whole Thali dinner experience!  Wash the curry down with a lassie, a shake-like drink made with yogurt.

Probably one of the best, most consistent restaurants I've been to.  I'm glad we came back.

The only Indian restaurant for 100 miles!  Just kidding...  But this is one of the few really good places for Indian food around...and remarkably, a great place for really authentic South Indian food.  It has the best Sambar (my favorite!)...I'm drooling on myself just thinking about it.  The pakoras are really good, and I would fly to SoCal right now if I could just for some masala dosa.

It's owned by a family of Telugus (from Andrah Pradesh), and worth going to just to watch the old lady order everyone around.  :P  When my husband and I were dating, we went here so often that we practically had the background music CD memorized.

I tried Indian food only 3 times in my life.  This place is good.  We tried the Makhani chicken and Tandoori Beef.  The Nan is good. Had plain and Garlic.  Great for dunkin.  The meal was good but not fantastic.
Indian food at first can be intimidating as my hubby told me his stomach was hurting.  This is the second time he had Indian and last time had a tummy ache for 3 days.  Today he barfed though and he felt better afterwards.  He has such great pillow talk. I was fine by the way.  No achy belly.
I know I need to find out more about the cuisine and order something else next time.

I am by no means an expert on Indian food or cuisine, but this place is pretty darn tasty.

I ordered the Thali dinner, which as mentioned by Jen C. comes with rice, two dals (assorted types of lentils - one came as a broth, the other as a paste, both were very yummy), raita (yogurt - not my cup of tea), a soup (tangy - I didn't care for it), and our choice of naan (the garlic naan was, well, garlicky).

For the main course, I ordered the lamb vindaloo (awesome!) and my friend ordered the beef saag (not bad).

Oh, and being glutons, we also ordered 8 pieces of the Tandori chicken (by the by, I'd skip the Tandoori Chicken as it was overcooked and not as flavorful as I'd hoped).

And of course I washed it down with some super sweet Mango juice.  Next time I gotta go with the Lassie.

Hands down, the best Indian food in the Inland Empire or maybe everywhere else, for that matter. Chicken Tikka Masala is my fave and here, they make it taste oh-so-good and oh-so-fresh! You get your choice of naan or rice with each order and I can't help myself so I go for both. The garlic naan is is so good! It has the right amount of butter and it's not too flimsy like some other naan I've had elsewhere. Their Chicken Saag is also another one of my favorites!

The Tandoori Chicken is somewhat dry and tough so after one time of ordering it, I never ordered it again.

I love coming here every time i'm in the IE.  The service isn't too bad and place is a little run-down but who cares, the food is top-notch!

I stopped in here on a lunch break a few weeks ago to try their South Indian cuisine.  Over the last number of years, I've become quite a fan of South Indian, but the only restaurant besides this one of which I know that serves it is in Artesia.

That said, I was happy with my meal.  The sambar (soup) was good.  A little less tangy and spicy than I'm used to, but still good.  The Masala dosa was also good.  It wasn't the best I've ever had, but still very good, and it beats the hell out of driving to Artesia for South Indian food.

I would really like to try the other stuff on the menu.  I was sort of surprised to see beef dishes on the menu, but that sounds really interesting to try.  At any rate, I recommend this restaurant.  The service is polite and attentive, and the food is good.

    Just OK.

Having just come back from a trip to SF where we had Dosas for our first time (see my review on Dosa) we decided we'd hunt for a local Indian food place that served them.  We decided to go all out and try a little bit of everything on the menu.  Considering this place was rated 4 stars by other Yelpers, we were anticipating this place to be a hidden gem.  Unfortunately, we found it to be average at best and would go to Haandi any day over this place.

    Here's what we ordered:

Masala Dosa:  their Dosas were nowhere near as good as the ones we had in SF.  They were soggy vs crisp on the outside and did not have much flavor.

Uttapam: this tasted like an onion pancake.  I was not impressed at all.

Chicken Pakora:  The Chicken Pakora was pretty good.  Not a tremendous amount of flavor, but it was decent.

Salmon Pakora:  I enjoyed the Salmon Pakora.  It tasted like they marinated the salmon in lemon prior to breading and frying and it gave it a nice tang.

Garlic Naan:  Good Na'an.  Hard to get Na'an wrong.

Sambar: My favorite part of the meal.  This soup was delicious.

Chicken Tikka Masala:  I know other Yelpers have complimented their Masala, but this was actually some of the worst that I've ever had.  The Masala sauce did not have much flavor and the chicken was overcooked and mushy.  This is normally my favorite Indian dish, but their Masala did not pass the test.

    Chicken Tandoor:  Just average.

Saag Paneer:  The Saag did not have enough spices and the chunks of Paneer were actually burnt on the edges.  Another fail.

Rice:  Their rice was ok.  It had bits of carrots and green beans inside.  They could have used a higher quality race, as their rice stuck together.

Chutneys:  The meal came with 4 chutneys: a typical green chutney (good), a red/orange tomato/lentil chutney that was good but extremely spicey, a plum/tamarind chutney that I was not fond of, and a coconut based chutney that was AMAZING.

Overall, I'd eat here again if I was in the area, but only if it was convenient.  This place is not worth making a special trip to.

I write these reviews so I can remember what I like, hate to go to a restaurant then remember I hated it afterward.

I would stick tot he vegetarian food here, the meat dishes just weren't that great.

I loved the soup here, the sambar.  The three times I ate it is was always good, but first time was best, second was thinner, and third was a bit too spicy, but still flavorful.  I like the vadar as well, that came with the soup the way I ordered it. Not a fan of idli.

I ordered the tikka chicken, lamb and tandori chicken combo one time, did not like it, it was too dry, tandori was OK.
I would not order it again.

I really love their garlic nan.  There Nan is the best.

There gulab Jaman is wonderful.  Best Gulab Jaman I ever had.

I will stick to the nan and soup from now on.

Beer looked interesting but too expensive for my tastes.

I work across the street so i decided to meet my husband up for lunch here. Although the food was good, it was way overpriced. We each got a plate and a drink and our check was for about 35$. Indian restaurants typically have a lunch buffet that runs anywhere between 8-15$/person so we were both pretty disappointed. The food comes with different sides. Tika Masala was good but probably will not return because you don't get enough for what you pay. Lunch in Colton should never cost that much. Service was slow and the place seemed somewhat dirty.

After years of hand-wringing, I finally took the dive and tried Indian food. Boy, am I glad I did!
The service was a little wah-wah, but the food definitely made up for it! Man, I've never had flavor like this before. It was a different culinary experience for me. I had the Uttapam (!!!!!!) and the dips were just WOW! My wife had their vegetable curry lunch (comes with a bunch of different little dishes), and it was almost as if I was overwhelmed with newness. Is that possible?!
I will definitely be coming here on most likely a regular basis!

After having it bookmarked for well over a year, I finally made it out to Ravi's last night for an early dinner.  We were seated immediately and service was incredibly attentive without feeling oppressive.  Water glasses were never empty, which is good because as white kids that grew up in the suburbs, we're not used to much spice in our diets.
Whenever we go to Indian restaurants, my husband's order is always the same, and I always try something I've never had before.  On this occasion, m y husband had the chicken tikka masala (as usual), and I ordered lamb korma, and we tried chicken pakoda as an appetizer.  I ordered mine with medium spice, and my husband ordered his mild, having learned his lesson last time we ate Indian food. (Note: his food was NOT spicy then; he is a wuss.)
I was quite pleased with my dish, and he with his, but in the taste I had of his food, I thought it was good but not as good as we've had elsewhere.  As I have nothing to compare mine to, I'll simply add that the lamb was done nicely - not too dry and not too chewy.
We ordered dinner, rather than a la carte, so our meal was followed with a small bowl of rice pudding.  It was an enjoyable end to a nice meal.
The restaurant is small, intimate, and cheerful, and I'm glad to have finally tried it.  We don't often head north on the 215, but when we do, this is definitely a place I'd return to.

Some really good Indian food in the middle of nowhere.  Their lunch combos have a nice assortment of traditional Indian dishes.

They serve their food with several dishes to separate the individual items.

Place is nice and clean, food is the best Indian around. Chicken Saag, with garlic naan bread , hands down the best.

If I'm in the mood for eating vegetables, this is where I go to get my Thali dinners.  Everything that comes with it is perfectly delicious, though the portion of whatever entree you get is pretty small.  That's okay though, because the Thali dinner comes with so many sides that you get full rather quickly.  I think it comes with rice, two dals, one soup, naan, and raita. The decor is lacking, but the service is very personable, and the place is usually pretty busy.  If I'm more in a meat eating mood, I head over to the Pakistani restaurant nearby for bigger portions of meaty dishes.

I don't eat Indian food too often. The very few times I've had them were just okay. Given my lack of experience with Indian food, it's hard to say if Ravi's was VERY good, or just okay. Whatever the case, it was good enough, I think. I had some kind of chicken dish, alacarte.  Flavor was good, but portion was small, in my opinion. Literally, it was a few pieces of chicken in a thick broth. A broth that I suspect would be solid like gelly if it was cold. Rather scary. My fiance ordered the Salmon Tandoori. Yeah, it was okay too. I don't know. I think I just don't care too much for Indian. It really does nothing for me. If you like Indian, it's worth trying out. If it means anything, the entire restaurant was filled with Indian patrons, so it must mean something...

Ravi's is one of our favorite India restaurant of all time. We been going here for years and whenever we drive to Vegas we would try and stop by just to eat there or if we were too full we would buy it to go for the next day. Sometimes for people birthday's we would drive 1 1/2 to get there and 1 1/2 to get back just for this place. We have been going here for a long time and when they keep changing their name with different family owning it we stuck by them. The family is alittle distance but they are very nice people. I normally get the masala w.garlic naan and tell them to burn my mouth. I can't say enough good things about this place so if you like Indian food then this place will make you smile.

I came here for lunch.  I got the chicken curry lunch special.  I am not sure I like curry... it was the first time I had it.  However, I have no reason to think it was their cooking, just my taste buds.  The bread was very delicious!  Service was quiet but I got my food and water refilled.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant.  Facilities are clean, service is prompt, but not necessarily engaging, and the food is great. Their garlic nan is awesome!  My other favorites are the masala dosa with 2 dipping sauces, and the chicken tikka masala.  You can also ask for vegetarian substitutes for some of the meats.  Be sure to get "thali" for the complete experience.

Grub-a-grub-grub, this place gives me a chub. I love the lunch specials here. I always get the chicken curry lunch special which comes with plenty of food including naan, rice, soup, salad and lentils. All this for around 6 bux! The ambiance isn't the nicest, and the service isn't the friendliest...but for the price and quality of the food, you can't beat it! But you can definitely eat it...

We've been going to Ravi's since it opened in the late 1980s, when it was called Maharajah.  We've tried other Indian restaurants in the area, and they pale in comparison.

Love the food, even the vegetarian dishes.  Chicken Tikka Masala is at least equal to the best that I've had.  Try the papadum (thin lentil bread) as an appetizer.  As others have said, the thali dinner is the ultimate experience.

The interior could use a bit of maintenance, especially the mens' room.  Some ceiling tiles are stained from a leaky roof, and the place could use a paint job to cover up the scarring on the walls from the tables.  However, everything is otherwise clean and pleasant.

This place has quickly become my favorite place to go for lunch. Get one of the lunch specials- My favorite is the lamb curry, while my girlfriend's is the beef. It's a great deal, and comes with a great assortment of food. My favorite side here is their homemade pickles, which taste outrageously good. I really have no other way to describe them- try one for yourself. And you will never make it to the bottom of your glass before you glass is filled again- always a plus.
