One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
This man is one of the most fantastic doctors I've ever met. He's warm, funny, and makes women's health extremely approachable.
Growing up in a rural area, the local doc was the old guy that knew your family's ailments inside and out -- because he'd been your family doctor for the last 50 years.
I get the same vibe from Dr. Toig, except in much more professional terms. He was recommended to me by a friend, who had in recommended by her boss, who had him deliver all four of her kids. Now if that's not a recommendation, I don't know what is!
Everything about Dr. Toig's office is amazing. The staff is friendly and informative from the first phone call, all the way through your service. The day of my appointment, the staff greeted me warmly and I felt like someone was with me all the way through each step. His nurse is fantastic, and again explained what she was asking/why as well as what would happen when Dr. Toig arrived.
My favorite part was that Dr. Toig sat down with me BEFORE I got undressed to review my medical history and talk to me about my general health! He then excused himself while I changed. The entire exam was comfortable and he really put me at ease. Also, I felt like he was really having a conversation with me when we discussed BC and was interested in finding the best possible pill for me.
I have to finally give major props to the woman who does his lab work. She glanced down at my two arms and selected the right one because it "had the easiest vein." She then noticed that I'd had blood drawn a few days earlier, and that there was still a mark. She was quick and gentle -- which is a great combo if you don't do well with the blood.
Dr. Toig is by far the best doctor I've ever had! He is incredibly knowledgeable, which is probably why he's a professor. He's also funny, in a nerdy sort of way.
The staff is great, too! Everyone is friendly and you can tell they really like working at Gold Coast Gynecology.

As Janice F. mentioned, he was very thorough and I was not uncomfortable at all. (Shocker because I would rather volunteer for a root canal than visit the gynecologist!) Anyway, I liked his chairside--or should I say bedside?--manner and I would definitely recommend him to friends. The office provided a soothing atmosphere and at one point I heard "A Comet Appears" on the speakers overhead. (That's neither here nor there but I felt like mentioning it.)

I love my gyno! Upon arriving in Chicago I figured it might take some trial and error to find the right docs for me, but I had more luck than I expected. I was reading Chicago Mags Top Doctors and Dr. Toig's practice was highlighted, so I made an appointment. Dr. Toig and I clicked on my first visit and I have never looked back. He is open to discussion, is easy to talk to and very "matter of fact" in his approach...I enjoy the honesty. He is brilliant at solving female issues and providing comprehensive treatment options. He always listens and considers my concerns or ideas. His nurse, Amy, is awesome, too. They are both accessible and have a great sense of humor...you really feel like a patient rather than one of the cattle they herd through these massive conglomerate doctors' offices.
If you want someone you can trust and are not opposed to a male ob/gyn, I highly recommend Dr. Toig.

He is a wonderful doctor. He is very easy to talk to, very thorough, and gentle. I have recommended him to all my friends in the city & they love him too!
I don't know why I didn't review Dr. Toig before. He is simply the best. I have been going to him for 5 years now. He is very thorough but not paranoid. He is frank, kind and gentle. I could not ask for a better doctor. Amy is awesome too!!! She cracks me up every time I'm here. I hope he never retires.
