Love Dr. Broom. Even though I've recently moved to NYC, I am seriously considering scheduling an appointment next time I'm in Seattle because that's how much I loathe the thought of trying to find someone else.

He is very kind and tolerant of dental-phobics like me. He has always been accommodating of my need for full disclosure and terror of the dental dam. He has a gentle touch with the sharp things too!

Dr. Broom really is that great. I've had really horrible experiences at the dentist's office but he immediately put my mind at ease. I have very sensitive gums and teeth so he made sure that I wasn't uncomfortable and he'd adjust whatever he was doing if he saw that I was in pain.

He's very easy to talk to and most importantly *takes his time*. His office is always packed but he didn't make me feel rushed and answered all of my questions. He even squeezed me into his schedule later on the same day because my molars were hurting after he put in some fillings.

I had dental insurance but they do not cover night guards (grr!). Dr. Broom charges a lot less than anyone else and since I had weird time constraints he made it a point to get my night guard made right away. He saw me in between patients to make sure it fit properly and even though he was super busy he didn't rush me out the door. He stood with me in the bathroom and explained how the night guard worked, how it should fit, etc... I refuse to go to anyone else and I'm so glad I read all the Yelp reviews before deciding on a dentist :) His assistant wasn't very nice and seemed annoyed (like she didn't want to be there). I'm just going to chalk it up to her having a bad day, I guess... Regardless, I'm glad I found Dr. Broom.

Oh and yes, he is handsome and really down to earth. They validate parking as well. Can't beat that!

You know that time. You been staring at that filling that is down to it's last layer. Your dreading the day you can feel the food you chew. Well I needed a good honest dentist that has skills and expertise. Not to mention affordable.

Scoured yelp and found he had a large following. Scheduled an appointment a week in advance at his latest time 5.30pm. He get's booked really fast. He is that popular.

Well It's finally that day. I arrive at 5:15pm fill out the forms. Wait for 15 minutes with patients from Edmonds and Kent. I'm thinking these guys drive that far for a dentist ? But he puts a smile to these guys faces. After that horrible incident way back in high school. The torture of removing my wisdom teeth. Dentists has always terrified me.

He seated the gentlemen from Kent on one chair and I in the other. I liked how precise he was. He worked on the other gentlemen then let the hygienist finish him off. He introduced himself, looked over my x-rays and proceeded to check my teeth. He gave me some options of fixing the tooth and I chose to just fill it. As cost was in play. This tooth was missing half the top as I cracked it in my superman days.  Well with great skill and care he started working on that Molar. The whining of the drill and the suction of the tube. Still creeps me to this day.  The shaping and fitting took  less then 30 minutes.  As i viewed it after the operation it looked great. When billing was done it was very AFFORDABLE. It cost a Benjamin. Let's hope it holds up another 5 years.

If Your looking for a no frill dentist who is exceptionally skilled. Go see Dr Broom in the historical Wilsonian Building in the U-District. Tell him I sent you and he will put a winning smile on your face.

I went to Dr. Broom while living in the U-District. He was amazing! He accepts Graduate-Appointee Plus insurance, which is why I initially chose him, but I would have kept going back after graduation if i didn't move out of state. I never had to wait long, I never had a problem with insurance/billing, and I felt like Dr. Broom was more than willing to spend extra time with me if I had a problem or question.

Dr. Broom is the best!  He makes going to the dentist less unpleasant!

Weird building to have a dentist office in (an apartment building that reminds me of Alice in Wonderland with all the tiny doors and hallways) but it's worth it!!

I HATE the dentist.  Probably more than anything else.  The usual digging and pain and bleeding and lecture about the bleeding... yuck!  I mean, let's be honest, most dentists just go crazy on your gums!

But not Dr. Broom.  He is an awesome, personable, down-to-earth guy.  He actually cares about his patients and remembers things that you told him last visit.  He is gentle with you and has a way of telling you what you can do to improve your dental health without making you feel bad.  He is also amazingly efficient.

The ONLY downside is that because Dr. Broom is so great, it's fairly difficult to get in to see him.  But, I am definitely willing to deal with it!

Five stars to a dentist?  Yes.  Seriously.

They bill directly to GAIP without making a fuss, and that's five stars right there.  Scheduling is easy and the location couldn't be more convenient.  The hygienist I had was quiet but nice.  Dr. Broom was friendly, super competent, and had reasonable, useful recommendations without doing the you-MUST-FLOSS guilt trip.  If you're in the area, and especially if you are a UW graduate student, I would highly recommend him.

I went to see Dr. Broom for the first time a week ago today after reading all the positive Yelp reviews about him. And boy, was I glad I did. You see, I had chipped one of my molars a week before and had gone to see a new dentist to repair it. This dentist barely looked at it, was not very friendly at all, and roughly filled my tooth with a resin filling. He said he wasn't sure how long it would hold. It didn't last 24 hours. UGH. I decided I wasn't ever going back to see him.

When I called Dr. Broom he was booked up for 3 weeks but managed to fit me in. I went in a few days later and he was friendly, welcoming and meticulous. He decided to do the same resin filling as the last dentist. He joked that he hoped it would stay in longer than the last dentist's. It's been a week now and it's still going strong. Thanks, Dr. Broom!

I felt very well-taken care of at Dr. Broom's office. His receptionist is super nice too. I'm looking forward to seeing Dr. Broom for dental care for many years to come.

I just had my second visit at Dr. Broom's.  I really like the guy.  He is incredibly pleasant and caring.

Between this and his location, how can you go wrong?

I was recommended to Dr. Broom by a colleague and I'll recommend Dr. Broom to others for years to come.

Decided on Dr. Broom because of the reviews on Yelp.  I must say that I've been nothing short of amazed at how easy and painless my visits have been to Dr. Broom.  I hadn't been to the dentist in 12 years and when I went to Dr. Broom it was a matter of him just showing my cavities and worked out a schedule to get them filled.

He never scolded me about not going to the dentist, he also doesn't beat the floss everyday drum.  He actually said any flossing is better than no flossing so don't worry if you don't do it every day.  I'm usually in and out in about an hour when I had to get a filling and 30 min when I got my teeth cleaned.  Ida the hygienist is super quick and painless and their billing person is crazy nice.  I like the fact that it's in an old apartment also, very cozy.

1000X recommendation for Dr. Broom.  I have Delta Dental and they take that for what it's worth.

And he's kind of dreamy also :D

I had had the same dentist my entire life, but I had to find a new one this year when I switched insurance... I'm so glad I found Dr.Broom! I hadn't been to a dentist in a while, and I'm not the biggest flossing fan but I didn't get a lecture or a scolding. Dr.Broom just explained why some other dentist might scold me.

Everyone in the office is really nice and friendly and they had me in and out fairly quickly while doing a thorough cleaning job and x-rays. Dr.Broom was not quick to suggest expensive or invasive procedures, instead laying out all options honestly. I will definitely be sticking with him.

I chose Dr Broom based on his Yelp reviews. I was very impressed. He was very professional, gentle and to the point. He did not try to sell me anything. In fact he referred me to a dental surgeon for tooth extraction when he could have done it himself.
Most importantly, his work is very good. I had many of my teeth filled over 3 sittings. He was very immaculate in his work. Despite me being the last patient for the day, he took the time to polish off his work so that I don't have to come back for touch ups. Nearly totally painless. I would recommend his to anyone any day.

Dr Broom is one of the best dentists I've been to... He is effective and sensitive! I highly recommend Dr Broom. His office is conveniently located on the ave, his office manager is wonderful and extremely helpful. The whole team really takes care of you. He will never scold you for not flossing. He does everything he can to make your pain go away. They handle the billing well too. Unlike many dentists, even if you aren't a regular customer or on your first visits, they charge your bill directly to your insurance company.
I was in a lot of pain for 3 weeks. I went to another dentist who was close to my work place. He couldn't find a solution to my problem. Finally I went to Dr. Broom and not only did he immediately pin point the problem but he also gave me medicines that were extremely effective. My pain went away the next day!!!!

    Thanks Dr Broom!!!!

Dr. Broom is awesome, great guy, love the visit experience. Been going here for 4 years.

Had to deduct a star because the appointment scheduling experience hasn't been up to par with the dental experience. My most recent visit took a week or two of phone tag...with my calls somehow being unanswered. When I cancelled two weeks ago because my cat died unexpectedly the night before my appointment and I was a bit of a sleepless wreck -- leaving a message to ask if a time was available later in the day -- nobody called to acknowledge the call or to reschedule.

Overall I'd still recommend them...just be aware that the scheduling experience has room to grow to catch up with their office experience.

On two recommendations, I selected Dr. Broom to be my new dentist. I've since gone to see him three times for check-ups. His office is on the upper part of the Ave, an easy 15mins walk or 5mins bus ride for me, in the Wilsonian building.

The office is a converted apartment. So it's very small but practical. He has two operating spaces, a restroom, and a decent-sized office for staff (from what I've seen, there is 1 other dental assistant person and 1 receptionist). There is usually a UW Dental School student who asks if s/he can observe your appointment.

The appts are usually 30mins. Like others have said, he doesn't try to sell you on things. You're here for a cleaning, he cleans your teeth, talks to you about any concerns/issues, and you're out the door. Appoints are easy to get too!

I've been going to Dr Broom for about 9 years.  I've recommended others to him that have problems with painful dentist work.  He is very thorough and considerate and has a gentle (non painful) touch.  He makes me feel comfortable.  He is a nice guy too.

I've been a patient of Dr. Broom's for almost 10 years, and he and the rest of his staff (Ida and Katherine) ROCK.  His is the sort of dental/medical practice you thought vanished a long while ago, or at least, only existed in the fictitious town of Mayberry.  This is not to say that Dr. Broom employs 40 year dental technology, but rather that he's extremely down to earth, personable, and elicits his patients' complete trust.  If you're a UW graduate student on the GAIP, his office is super-conveniently located on the Ave.

I tend to let things go until the last minute, and that includes my grill.  I had two cavities that were old and getting older and louder and I waited until they were screaming at me to call around for a dentist in my delta dental plan.  Luckily, his receptionist sensed the urgency and they got me in with only a couple hours notice.  I love that his office is small and not fancy, his receptionist is still working on paper and he's a pretty young guy who is very personable.  He made me feel really comfortable and he was upfront on price and worked with me on my options since I couldn't afford two root canals right away.
I've recently been back to see him while pregnant and I really trust that he not only knows what he is doing, but he doesn't do anything that's not necessary.  I definitely recommend him to anyone who is NOT looking for a Nordstrom's dental experience, but something fairly priced, professional and trustworthy.

I love Dr Broom.  If you haven't been to the dentist in a while (which I hadn't) and are afraid of being scolded...don't despair.  He will fix you up and help you improve from there and is super nice.  His dental assistants are great and made it very comfortable for me.  I am a grad student at UW and they take the GAIP insurance without any question, I had to pay a little out of pocket for a filling, but it was about $25 bucks.  It might be more if you have more work done, but the insurance covers cleanings every 6 months and x-rays every year.  I really recommend him, he's close, convenient and it doesn't take a million years to get an appt!
