I'm a bibliophile and a travel addict, so this place is one step from Heaven for me - I can relive my past, plan my future, and dream about exotic places on the distant horizon. Check out the Lonely Planet series of travel guides, especially if you're the adventurous type who travels independently rather than with a group and your destination is well off the beaten path. I used them for my travels through both Morocco and Turkey, and when they say Point B is 100km from Point A, they must have measured the distance with a yardstick, because they're right on the nose. They were invaluable sources of information, and their suggestions took us places we'd never have seen otherwise. But I digress. The store has everything a traveler, whether novice or experienced, could possibly want in the way of books - just avoid the luggage and gizmos like multi-time zone alarm clocks and currency converters, which cost a lot less elsewhere - and the staff allows you to browse in peace.

When I was a young boy I always begged my parents to take me into this store so I could check out the massive globe slowly revolving in the window. I still get a kick out of that. A great place to find all the maps and guides you need for that next trip to anywhere you want to go. Maybe not the cheapest alternative but that jet-set travel vibe is infectious.
