Maybe I'm just new to the whole B&B experience, but I had to be torn from the handrails of the Grand Porch of the Rand when it was time to go.  This place is truly heaven, and my only complaint was being too busy to sit and read for hours on the private sunroom/porch attached to our room.

The 124-year-old house (built in 1884, you math sloth) was beautifully restored by Duffy and Merrill Busch, the incredibly sweet couple that host weary travelers throughout the year.  I'm usually the first to make gagging noises at the sight of doilies and white wicker, but when said doily lies beneath a plate holding the gourmet main entree of your three course breakfast, you learn to look past the cheesiness and embrace the elegance.

So, yes, few things are as grandiose as having a freaking delicious breakfast on the breezy screened porch of a 124-year-old house in the middle of a Minnesota summer.  Or opening the door to your cush room (with private bathroom and claw-foot tub) to find a lacy basketful of coffee and the morning paper.  Or walking in the misty morning in thank-god-I'm-not-in-Texas 69 degree weather and watching a marmot shuffle across the path and into a flowerbed full of color.  It truly is a back-in-time paradise.
