For the price, location, and safety, this 2-star chain hotel without frills gets   5 stars from a girl traveling through the Southwest all by her lonesome.  

It's right off the freeway amidst a melange of other 2-star chain hotels (which in my mind usually means fairly safe) and vapid chain restaurants (the obligatory IHOP and Olive Garden), but also near enough to the quaint downtown area and the university.  Then again, come to think about it, almost everything is close because Flagstaff just ain't that big.  

Anyway, the desk staff were friendly and helpful.  The rooms are clean, spacious (I had a huge room with 2 queen beds), and free wi-fi (hence all the late night yelping after my exploration of the wacky world that Flagstaff is)!  I guess I shouldn't be that excited about the free wi-fi since even hole in the wall motels offer it these days, but hey...free wi-fi is better than HBO.  The bathroom was also clean.  And the free breakfast actually proffered up some hot foods (fake egg patties and sausage patties) as well as your typical Continental style breakfast (cereal, yogurt, pastries, toast, bagels, juice coffee).  Of note, all of the rooms do face the outside, but nevertheless, I still felt safe.  

Given the aforementioned,  this Ramada is a great CHEAP and SAFE place to stay that's clean and safe and close enough to the interesting parts of town and has easy access to the 40 as well as the 180 (to the Grand Canyon).
