Because our booking agent wanted to save $15 / night on a hotel, I'm stuck in this dump for three days.

What sucks about this place?

A) No Internet (I'm sitting in the Holiday Inn lobby next door)

B) Angry / Dumb Staff (Can't figure out how to reset internet , continued to argue that we didn't have a reservation even after I pointed out that the reason it wasn't coming up was the space in our tour managers name)

C) Shitty location (unless you like dog racing)

D) Every room smells like hookers and smoke

E) Television is from 1977

On the upside, the hotel is eerily quiet and I'm exhausted - so at least I'll get some sleep tonight.

This was a basic hotel and good for the price.  The location isn't the greatest, but wasn't the worst.  There's very little to do around there except to hop on the expressway to go somewhere else.  One thing that was confusing was the one-way street the hotel is on and then the numerous way-streets behind it when you try to get somewhere on the same side of the road, but west of the hotel.

They have a decent and closely monitored/refilled breakfast spread of fruits, cereal, coffee, tea, juices, donuts, waffles, yogurt, bagels, hard boiled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy from 6:00 a.m. ish to 9:30 a.m. sharp.  Their fitness room consists of three machines: a treadmill, a stationary bike and an elliptical.  Their toiletries are WONDERFUL and probably the best hotel soap and shampoo I have ever had at a hotel.  Their collection is from San Francisco Soap Company in Sugary Citrus.  YUM.  It kept my skin really moisturized and smells delicious.  Another great thing is that they had free computers and printing for guests' usage.

However, there were a few things that did bother me.  Perhaps it was a miscommunication booking through http://hotel.com, but I assumed I would get a refrigerator and microwave in my room.  After all, http://hotel.com did not note  that not every room had them and it was a first come first serve basis, which is the actual situation.  We lost a lot of delectable BBQ leftovers this way, but on the last night, the accommodating front desk staff offered to keep our smoked ribs and sausage leftovers in their work fridge for us.

While the room service staff are quite friendly and jolly, I had a few incidents where other people's hairs were still embedded in towels I just used.  I had more than a few disgusting moments of picking long hairs off my freshly showered body that did not belong to me.  Shudder.  Also, the carpet doesn't look dirty, but a few minutes of my boyfriend walking around in his socked feet, proved otherwise.  They're really dirty.  Like, really dark footprints on his white socks within 10-15 minutes of walking around in our room carpet kind of dirty.

Another thing you can tell is that the location used to be one of those exterior-door access motels.  They just built a small hallway around the perimeter to make it an "indoor" hotel.

The security did worry me a little bit because after a few days of sliding my card to get in from an outside door into the hotel, I realized that I didn't have to because IT WASN'T LOCKED.  EVER.

While the hotel's staff was really polite and sweet and more than fulfilled their duties, the hotel itself needs a little work to make me feel a bit safer and cleaner for me to book again.

I stayed here during my trip to Memphis for the Beale Street Blues Festival. Luckily, my friend had a car and drove us across state lines everyday.

This place is relatively cheap (~85 per night for 2 double beds), clean, no extra amenities like fridge or microwave, but internet in the lobby as well as wifi, breakfast includes some of the better biscuits & gravy I've ever had, small workout room with three cardio machines once you're done with breakfast, pool if it's not pouring rain, close to the freeway, but we were at the back of the building and heard no traffic noise whatsoever. No stores or anything nearby - one restaurant, a couple convenient stores, casino across the freeway if you're so inclined.

Served it's purpose.
