mint chip is still the best.
this is what real N.Y. is about.
now , they only need to franchise out to los anglese.
Honestly, I'm suprised the line was not longer. Ralph's has the word "famous" in the title like many establishments, but this one is truly deserved. I'm still astonished at the amount of delicious treat you get for a measly $1.75 small cup.
A symphony of flavor for a hot day on Staten Island.
They have all the necessary items a small frozen treat stand should have, but the menu is most important in its flavors of ice and milk varieties. Both are tasty and perfect for a hot day, but it simply baffles me (I might have mentioned this already) how they can give you so much for so little money. I would expect an inferior product, but that is nowhere close to what you are served. I just wish this place existed close to where I live!
I always feel compelled to make a stop here when visiting Staten Island. I usually come in after dining at Demino's, which is across the street. They have loads of flavors and good prices. Hands down the best Italian Ice I've ever had!
I've been coming here since I was a kid. Ralph's is unique. Others try to copy, but it cannot be done. They serve quality ices, it's homemade (storemade) and excellent. These are ices, not ice cream, so the texture is different. But flavor is still in there. They've got about 30+ flavors, for all tastes and preferences (eg. sugar free, low fat)... ices, milkshakes, smoothies, banana splits oh my. It's on the corner of the block, the huge crowd is actually the line, there's no seating, but they do have a big parking lot on the side.
I grew up eating ralph's ice's. Ralph's never disappoints me; the wait is always worth it. The line does move fast so don't worry if you see a line overflowing into the street. I don't think i've ever had a bad experience here. Some people think they should put seating around the area, but changing it like that would ruin it's charm. It hasn't changed it's design/ordering process since it was built. The flavors have been pleasantly updated throughout the years and never fail to explode in your mouth.
"Classic "flavors: rainbow, bubblegum, lemon, strawberry
Creme Ices: birthday cake, spumoni, key lime pie
Regular ice cream, shakes, etc.
Waiting a half hour in line still isn't enough time for me to me decide what flavor i want.
I don't think my tummy has been so satisfied with a cold sweet treat since I had gelato in Spain. This place is totally amazing. How many flavors? Yes, that's right, 70. Oh Rita, I could really give you a good kick for trying to pass that crap off as Italian ice. You should be ashamed of yourself. This place is the real deal!
I went today and got a Chocolate Peanut Butter ice which is a chocolate ice with reese's cup pieces in it. I downgraded Ralph's down one star because their cholocate ice had no taste to it. Last year it was more creamy and I fear that they are trying to maintain the prices at the expense of the product. Also they hardly had any pieces of reese's in the ice. Still worth the money, but not as good as last year.

The ice's motherland, Ralph's is the best on the island. It is located in a shady part of the island… Read more »
Sometimes they do not have the flavor you are looking for but that is probably because I have tried to sample the entire menu.
I've gone to this place since I've moved here 18 years ago. Have been hooked on the cremalata, mint chip, birthday cake, and margarita since.
A flavor for everyone. They now have an ice cream menu and they have a truck that comes around in the Summer too!
You do not know what Italian ice is until you've had Ralph's.
Lot gets really crowded in the summer and feels like a drive in with everyone sitting on their cars. Which is another reason I love it.
Ralph's is a reason to go to Staten Island. There is a flavor for everyone, and it is well worth the wait -- both the wait for it to open and the wait on the long lines.
These are the best Italian Ices. Passing through lunch time, my co-workers
and I try to stop here as much as possible. I love every flavor I had
especially , you know what I can't say because I don't know. I never had to wait more than 10 minutes. This
place has been here before I was born and hopefully after I'm gone to
sell more amazing home made ices. It's not just ices they also put
real ingredients in the dessert. From what I heard don't get the bubble
gum, because who wants to chew gum with ice. Great place to cool
off with your friends on those hot summer nights or to bring some
home and surprise your loved ones. They make water and cream
ices also ice cream and shakes.
Summer Nights = Ices!
Ralph's Ice's is an institution here on Staten Island. Probably some of my favorite ices ever (Better than Gino's & Uncle Louie G's). So many flavors, there is something for everyone. My favorite is the Key Lime Cream Ice. It isn't as watery as Water Ices (obviously). There are other flavors such as Nutella, Sour Cherry, they have shakes, brownie sundaes, etc...
The lines can be long, but it moves pretty quickly. Usually it is just people hanging out in front making it look crowded. I'm going to definitely try to milk Ralph's for what is worth this summer. Maybe visit Denino's Pizzeria across the street as well and complete the night.
I love you Ralph.
I don't know what I would do without my Ralph fix every summer. He is like a drug. As a Staten Island native, this was my summer mecca growing up ... and remains my summer mecca to this day, even though I live in Brooklyn. They have every flavor imaginable, so you are guaranteed to find something you'll get hooked on. The fruit flavors are amazing, because they don't taste artificial.
My favorite flavors (in no particular order) are as follows:
Cappuccino
Vanilla Chip
Mango (it comes with chunks of REAL mango!)
Lemon (a standard flavor - but Ralph's is extra special)
Mai Tai
Pineapple (again... chunks of REAL pineapple)
The one con : long lines ... but totally worth the wait! It just gives you all the more time to decide on your flavor of choice!
If you're reading this and are from Staten Island, then don't read on because I'm gonna say things that you already know...
The best Italian Ice on the planet. Get a medium cup and tell them you want half cherry water ice - chunks of cherries in it - and half vanilla chip cream ice. My favorite - Oh how I miss Ralphs ...
If for some reason you are visiting Staten Island you should go.
But you're not gonna because nobody just goes to visit Staten Island out of nowhere unless you have family there.
Ralph's Blackberry Ice = Heaven!
If I had a car, I'd drive into Staten Island every weekend with a bigass cooler and fill that sucker up with Ralph's. Then when all the kids in Brooklyn get those not-so-fresh softee cones from the side of a truck, I can sit on the porch and laugh at them while I savor my tasty ice... of course that's just a nice day dream... or is it?
Okay, who's up for a drive?!!!
When I moved here from Iowa some years ago,I found the girl of my dreams and the best italian ice in the world. After each date, Mary and I would go to Ralph's . It became our place. When I was going to propose, it was only natural that it would be at Ralph's.The day came and I slipped the ring into Mary's cherry ice.My name was called and I turned around to see who it was. Mary took a bite and cracked 3 teeth.Needless to say we are not married . Despite the bad incident I cant help but go to Ralph's.Try the vanilla chip, its the best
I'm a native Staten Islander who travels frequently all over Manhattan (or the "city" as we call it) but nothing can beat Ralph's Ices EVER!! It's so inexpensive you can't believe it for the size you're getting (a small would be a medium in Manhattan standards). Plus it is soo good. No flavor has ever disappointed. It's the perfect compliment after eating at Denino's right across the street. I would recommend Chocolate Mousse, strawberry cheesecake, and the old regular Rainbow.
As a native Staten Islander, I grew up going to Ralph's every summer ( I lived only a few blocks away), hanging out in the parking lot and waiting in line for a half hour or more (The wait is definitely worth it) to get my grubby little hands on a pint of one of the many delicious flavors of Italian ice that Ralph's carries. This is definitely a Staten Island institution, and I enthusiastically recommend that everyone grab your shades, put on your flip-flops, and head over to Ralph's. I guarantee you're gonna love it.
A Staten Island institution! There's always a line and it's always worth it. The best part of dating my ex-boyfriend is that he lived around the corner from Ralph's. Other than that he was pretty useless!
my friend at wagner college took me here for the first time this summer.... i might just have to make the trip back because although i've only had Ralph's twice... I am addicted. It's so god damn good!
get the lemon ice.
this is an institution. with long lines and eager customers ralph never disappoints. my parents live here and then complain when they close in the fall. personally, i am on a diet and dont touch the stuff but my dad said give it 5 stars because he cant live without it.
Ok with like a hundred ices all I can say is yum, yum and yum. Be prepared to wait a very long time on a hot summer night and to see lots of people you know from way back when. Either in the parking lot or online.
nothing makes you a more authentic staten islander than eating a ralph's italian ice while sitting on the hood of your car in the parking lot with all your friends on a hot summer night. chocolate ices (water or cream...both are great) are my fave. sometimes i get bold and add a scopp of cherry or peanut butter if i'm feeling "crazy."
i love this place!
Spent many a summer night lined up outside of Ralph's to cool off with an Italian ice. The water and cream ices are fresh and taste delicious.
