My husband and I celebrated our 47th anniversary here recently and I can't say enough good things about our experience. Wonderful service, great food. The chef even surprised us with a complimentary dessert! Excellent!

Had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant while in town for the LoveTour. I'm from New Orleans so the Sunday brunch felt like home. We had the shrimp and corn bisque, chicken and waffles, bread pudding and strawberry mimosas. It was delicious. Our waitress, Crystal R was so sweet and such an incredible vibe. Like I wanna be her friend lol. Can't wait to come back.

Came here at the recommendation of a colleague when I was in town. Definitely experienced Cajun cooking! Had the stuffed mushrooms to start, and then had the crawfish plate, prepared three ways. Finished with a huge serving of bread pudding. All good stuff! Service was friendly and attentive.

Must be good as they don't take reservations for groups (we had 8) and the wait was ginormously long, with no ready adult beverage access. The bartenders were so busy mixing drinks for their seated customers they had developed an incredible ability to avoid eye contact with those standing on the fringes, in the interstices. Tho most of us left 2 stayed and in a mere three and a half hours they had nothing but raves for the food, beverages and service. Go early.

There is a R and K in Lufkin that I used to frequent when I lived in east Texas. Restaurant was well lit despite all the dark colors. The booths were all clean and it smelled clean. And the food? The food was fantastic.
Then there's the r and k in Shreveport. It's in the corner of an old strip mall, and has been here for decades. Which is fine and all but man, is it in need of a facelift. All the way around.
Was greeted and said I was going to sit at the bar. They have a large bar area, but if you sit at the bar you have only one angle to watch a TV. And when eating solo TV is essential. At least for me.
Bartender was great. Polite, accommodating, and checked on me multiple times.
The food isn't the same. And maybe it's not a fair comparison. I'm using my experience from 15 years ago in a completely different town. The steak while good flavor was way overcooked. But at that point I didn't want to wait for another steak. I also hate food waste. Don't want to toss it because of me being picky. The Cajun potatoes was good, but very dry. Not how I remember that as well.
Just overall it's dark, very dated, and needs some attention to bring it up to a nice restaurant. I know they have the capacity, use Lufkin for a reference.
All that to say, I dont I'll find my way back here again.

This restaurant was nice and family oriented. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. That sat us quickly and the food came out in a moderate amount of time. The food here was just ok to me. The crab claws were weird tasting and came out of the fridge, served cold. I'm guessing that's how they are supposed to be served. Everything was just mediocre. The drinks were good though and in a tall glass. My bill was about $165 for 3 people.

Food was excellent, portions are super sized, but the dollars are not, lots of bang for ur bucks. Ryan our waiter was the BEST! he made recommendations as it was our first time here visiting from FL. Huge fish tank, charcoal oyster bar grilling before ur eyes makes for a great atmosphere. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Make sure ur hungry!

Excellent service. The waiter was amazing. The appetizer shrimp was very flavorful and cooked perfectly and not over sauced. The crab trap was simply delicious. Crab in a variety of ways. The children meals were excellent. The waiter recommended an excellent dish. The adult drink was refreshing. The desserts were delicious. Great visit all around.
Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Mar 5, 2023Previous reviewWe had a huge group, and our waitress was freaking amazing. She was on point. She handled us professionally, timely, and accurately. The food was excellent. I ordered the Crab platter. My only complaint is that chips should be served with the dip. One guess said their fried pickles were too salty and sent it back. I didn't personally taste it. I saw no other dishes be returned, nor did I hear any complaints about any dishes. Everyone food was bought out hot, in batches. That was perfect.
Feb 17, 2017Previous reviewMy first visit to Ralph & Kacoon's. Nice size private room. Wait staff was attentive. Temperature was comfortable. The fried dishes i ate was on point. I ate fried soft-shell crab, stuffed shrimp, potato, rolls hushpuppies were delicious. The pasta dish looked good, i would like to try it next visit. Looks like blackened chicken, over seasoned rice. They hosted my aunt's birthday.

Amazing. Stopped through here on a road trip and the restaurant is nice and big, perfect for parties but great for couples and families too. Food is authentic and portions are big, the desserts are all homemade and the key lime pie tastes just as amazing as it did in the Florida keys. Boudin balls are just a tiny bit salty but might pair well with a plainer dish. Margarita was also quite good. Would highly recommend.
