6 reviews for Rainy Day Games
So a couple weeks ago a yelper turned me onto "elixer" and cursed me for the last month i couldn't get the game out of my head. Found it on amazon for like 22 bucks and was about to order it. Then a friend said lets give them a try since we're stuck with the rain and on the way home. Wow they have it for 25 bucks.
What made this place great is the selection of toys here. and in the back they have tables where you can play with others. i also noticed a disc golf section which lucky for me, something i'm looking to try.
great place huge selection of games. Tops on my list as for a place to stop by.
The little lady and I have been going here for almost a year now. We have purchased board games and puzzles. The staff has been helpful and friendly.
The first time I walked into the place I was stunned by the cleanliness and polished look to the place. I was concerned that gamers didn't work there!
Rest assured, for gamers abound! In fact there is a space on the other side of a wall dedicated to live action gaming! (hopefully not ever Larping which is not gaming btw. It's really theater folks! You know it to be true)
I'm not sure having the playing space separated with a wall from the retail side is a good idea because when I peer around the corner to watch the games, I feel like a disturbance in the force and that I might get ejected by some intense dungeon master for interrupting their tour de force campaign. So far everyone seems friendly! Huzzah!
Awesome selection of Games, Mini's and Puzzles! They even have a lot of Frisbees for Frisbee golf which is about as sporty as a gamer might want to get. If they start selling footballs and basketballs I'm outta there!
A lot of strange board games with names that you (or maybe just me) will not know how to pronounce and will weigh as much as a dwarf with a belly full of ale. Have no fear brave adventurer! Just ask the friendly Rainy Day-Keeper and they will show you the way. If they don't have the answer they will jump onto the Internet and get the info you need from some gaming site.
Nice place that breaks away from the dusty hole in the wall that we have all grown to associate with game stores.
They have soooo many games, it's kind of insane. But awesome!
There's a huge collection of board games, and card games (Ok, so if you've never played Munchkin, Fluxx, or Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot, you totally need to) and stuff.. very entertaining.
They also have a gajillion dice. Yeah, it took me forever to pick out dice, cause I'm a nerd.
They also have lots of books, and some plushies (Ugly Dolls, and I also got a totally awesome Cthulhu pillow from them), and miniatures, and pretty much anything else you need to have a mega gameathon.
Great products you can't find anywhere else! I found 3000 and 5000 piece puzzles and those "Mystery Dinner Party" games that you can play with all your friends.
Don't think it is only for the total geeky crowd that plays magic, there is something in there for everyone.
Would you like to play a game?
If you're looking for more than just a game of tic-tac-toe w/a super computer who would rather play thermonuclear detonation anyway, this is the place for you!
They have a lot of odd board games (a lot from overseas), some cool board games from Ravensburger (Labrynth, Enchanted Forest, etc) and lots of puzzles. You won't find many (any?) milton bradley type games.
I know, you're thinking, "Boring! What about Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Magic card games?" They have those, so stop whining. Not only do they have all the gear for your favorite card games, but they hold tournaments and game nights on the long tables in the back of the store.
But wait, you needed a the new rule book for your favorite flavor of D&D. They have some RPG rule books, so no worries.
Tired of staying indoors all the time? They have the largest selection of disc golf discs that I've seen in a store. Maybe I go to the wrong stores??? Probably not, though.
They have all kinds of small gadgety games, too (you know, like rubiks cube, pass the pigs, etc). This place is fun. There are often games/toys out to play with. It's just a great place to browse.
The best part (besides the selection) is the owner and the staff. They are super friendly, but not in a Safeway "Hello! Can I help you find something!" kind of way. They try out almost all of the games (even silly kids games) and can give game recommendations for any kind of person. We often go here to get gifts for cousins/nieces/nephews/friends' kids who we don't know very well, and have become the cool uncle&aunty/cousin/mom's friend...
Rainy Day Games is awesome.
I know I paid over or near retail for my game, but it doesn't bother me. I think the staff at Rainy Day Games is nice and helpful. The parking lot is difficult to get of, but all in all, we'd return for a hard to find game.
