Girls, go get a 50-min Mandarin Sugar Body Scrub! It's worth it! It exfoliates all the dry dead skin and leaving your skin soft for days. Plus, the masseuse has amazing hands. I was so relaxed, i fell asleep for a little bit on the table.

The facility has a steam/sauna room, jacuzzis, and small pools in a very exotic setting, complete with long lounge chairs and airy curtains. Very pretty. Very small facility though so definitely not good for big groups but it's a great place for 2-3 people.

They have a relaxation room adorned with super comfy lounge chairs, a fireplace, and nice music. This is definitely a good getaway place.

Went there for a massage and it's not really what I expected. I guess I'm used to spas with facilities like the Wynn and Burke William. There were only 2 showers and 1 handicap shower. I had to wait for the shower. There was mold on the shower wall. The water pressure from the shower took some time to kick in. The locker room wasn't as spacious as I would like it to be. The steam room was really small. I'm not a big person so when I tried to laid down to rest, I felt like I was going to fall off the ledge.

I didn't try out the garden pool or jacuzzi but it looked very beautiful and peaceful.

Overall the massage was really good. I love the person that I got.

I just had the olive oil salt scrub and the 55 minute massage at Raindance Spa this past Monday.  My hubby got the treatments as a surprise for me on our honeymoon.  Since we were staying at the Lodge at Sonoma, it was a nice walk through the grounds to the spa itself.  If you have a treatment there, you have use of the spa facilities all day -- there are private pools and cabanas as well as sauna and locker rooms.   I ended up hanging out by the pool before and after my treatments just enjoying the perfect weather.  The olive oil scrub was wonderful and made my skin feel so smooth.  I went immediately from the warm shower after the scrub to the massage table.  The massage was great -- not too hard, not too soft and she really worked out the areas that needed the most help.  It was relaxing and much needed!!

My friend and I had the couples massage and it was really fun and the massages were excellent.  Cynthia was very professional and provided the best massage I've ever had.
I loved the steam room and the jacuzzi....we stayed there all afternoon and had a great time.

My only question is "When do I get to come back again?"  Hands down my favorite spa in Sonoma, followed closely by the Garden Spa at MacArthur Place.  My friends and family know I love it so much I usually get a gift certificate for my birthday, anniversary or Valentine's Day!  Truly a treat!

Massage treatments are customized to the way you like it (for me, the deeper the better!).  Come early and use the facilities before your treatment-- have a steam, jump in the pool, or soak in the tub.  After treatment, if you're hungry, order poolside service while relaxing in a cabana.

No detail is missed here.  Refreshing ice cold menthol infused face towels offer relief in or out of the steam room, aromatheraputic bath products keep you smelling like you just came from the spa, plush white bathrobes keep you comfy while you're lounging around, and a gift shop in case you forgot your bathing suit or favorite lipstick!

Local insider tip: On a budget?  Just buy a pass to the spa, sans the treatment for $25.  Enjoy the steam room, pools, hot tubs, and outdoor amenities all day!  Please be sure to call the spa for price and availability, as this may have changed since my post!

I absolutely love this place and am surprised about some of the poor reviews.  My husband and I were here six years ago for our wedding night, and the next morning we had a fabulous couples massage.  We just revisited today, and after six years, it's still amazing.  We were greeted at the front by the very friendly staff.  As we entered, we were immediately at peace.  (we REALLY needed this because we are new parents of twins, plus my husband has been working his tooshie off!)  My massage was so relaxing and even a little bit different than what I've experienced previously.  I felt so good and happy afterward that I've been calm and smiling all day today.  We seriously can't wait to go back again.  Oh, and that lotion they have is so yummy that I bought a bottle to take home.

After a perfectly lovely facial and a brief lounge in their huge, comfy relaxation room chairs, I only have one question for Raindance Spa.  Why was Golf Digest the only available relaxation room reading material?

Because when I think spas in Sonoma, I think golf.

I love the boutique of the aromatic sensual body lotions, creams, etc...  The shower and dressing area is nothing too special and the eucalyptus steam room doesn't really smell at all eucalyptus-y, but I like the towels as you leave the steam sauna.  They are soaked in a pretty tin bowl thing with cucumbers and ice, very refreshing.  They also have big showers with the waterfall showerheads which are pretty nice, but the actual shower just feels like a long hall shower.  I like their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.  It's a lavender geranium scent, very spa-ish.

My grape seed signature package was wonderful!  I had my own room, which was about 300 sqft.  I needed this pampering oh so much.

I had a nice grape seed scrub, a warm mud wrap (I fell asleep because I felt so good and warmed up, wrapped up in a cocoon), and a 1 hour massage.  All this included a tea, grape seed oil soothing hydrotherapy bath, shower, and light lunch snack (which I enjoyed on my own balcony in a robe)!  Blaize stayed with me for 3 hours and explained everything to me thoroughly since I would've forgotten step by step what to do next haha.

The waiting room is nice but sometimes people can get loud in there.    I like the Mind Over Muddle Tonic they have in the carafe there.  That stuff is so good.

The Lodge at Sonoma has beautiful grounds, which you wouldn't expect for being located on a busy intersection.  We recently went to the Raindance Spa for massages.  I really liked their "relaxation" area, which consists of 3-4 small warm/ hot pools.  It was very relaxing and nice to sit in warm water in a pretty, secluded area.  You can also order food, drinks in this area, which seems like a perfect snack or lunch.  One of my friends thinks it was the best massage she's ever received.  My pre-natal massage was good, but I think I'm just not a massage person (or maybe am not one while pregnant).  The service at the spa is great- very friendly, professional staff.

Also, my close friend stayed here for her wedding night a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

I'll start off by saying that The Lodge at Sonoma is a beautiful place to stay and the blue poolside drinks are delish, but if you're really thinking about spending the cash to stay here (and possibly get a few treatments in the spa), definitely keep reading.  The only reason I gave this place two stars was because of those tasty blue drinks by the pool and the facial I got from Maria.  Other than that, I'd never go near this place again.  I've been twice for massages, both were mediocre.  The customer service in the spa is a joke.  You're forced into an 18% tip when quite honestly I'm adult enough to decide how much I think someone's tip should be.  I'm a-okay paying high dollar for an amazing treatment (which a facial by Maria is - totally amazing) however the fact that the staff can barely figure out how to say hello and ring someone on the register at the same time is a bit ridiculous.  Spa time is all about the entire experience and this place hasn't figured that out yet.  Thank goodness it's sunny in Sonoma or most San Franciscans would stay in the city and enjoy services at one of our many amazing spas.
