Review from Mike O.
What a great find of a water park! We came here on a hot Saturday afternoon, as part of our summer-long tour of area water parks. This one is truly outstanding and has activities for all ages. OK, it's not cheap. Non-residents pay $14 to get in, but for the same price, it blows away Skokie's park BIG TIME! We felt we got our money's worth at this place.
OK, so where to begin? First, it has 4 big water slides. That's what you see when you arrive at the park. Two of them are body slides and 2 others are slides where you sit on an inflatable tube or raft. The big yellow slide is a good one for going down in pairs on a raft. The dark blue slide is definitely the fastest one of them all. It hurtles you into total darkness except for glow in the dark strips along the sides. I went down so fast in my tube that it flipped me over at the bottom, but it's definitely a fun ride. And there's no shortage of inflatable tubes and rafts, compared to Skokie's pool, as they have multiple areas for tubes and rafts around the place.
There's also a more treacherous slide which spins you around on what looks like a giant roulette wheel before dropping you down a hole into a 7-foot pool. Located next to the kids' aquatic playground, there's water guns that kids can shoot at the riders going in circles before taking the big plunge.
The kids' aquatic playground is one of a kind: 3 levels! The first level consists of a maze with distorted mirrors, strip curtains, assorted knobs and handles turning on water in various spots. The second and third levels have various guns and sprayers the kids can turn on and shoot at people below or at the riders on the aforementioned slide. On top of all this is a giant bucket that empties every couple minutes to a crowd of kids and adults waiting for the deluge to come down.
There's a big pool with a lily pad and rope monkey bar setup off to the side. While it looked fun, my kids were a tad too small to do that one. Nice thing about this park is they measure kids at the gate and give them a color-coded bracelet which determines what they can do, so there is no guesswork later.
My other favorite feature about this place is the long lazy river wrapping around it. We spent a good amount of time on it and it is probably the best one I've seen around the suburbs.
Lifeguards are a-plenty. They certainly had a busy day during our 3-1/2 hour stay. I saw at least 3 kids and one disoriented adult get pulled out. When an incident occurs, a lifeguard sounds an air horn, calling other lifeguards to come running to the sound to assist. With all the horn soundings, you'd think there was a hockey game going on! Their responses were quick and well-organized. I was impressed with how much they did to keep the place safe for everyone.
The locker rooms do have an odor to them, but I like them better than Niles or Park Ridge. They look pretty clean overall. The showers are warm and there's plenty of rooms in the family dressing area.
While we had lots of fun with a 4 and 7 year old, I think this place will be the most fun for the 8-12 age group especially, as they can do so much more at this place.
Rainbow Falls, we'll see you again next year!Listed in: Water Parks and pools around…

My kids loved this place. Me - eh....just ok. The large locker rooms were filthy and smelled so badly I almost threw up on several occasions. The people using the bathrooms and showers were absolute slobs, including adults. The life guards have the added responsibility of cleaning the locker rooms and as far as I could tell, they didn't have hazmat suits.... and they needed them to clean this place. Shame on EGVPD on cutting the maintenance and cleaning staff, if that is what happened.
There were a ton of kids there during the week from day camps. There are not enough lounge chairs or chairs for adults. -

For a community park I was certainly impressed. This weekend's heat index was up in the triple digits, so we headed out to the 'burbs for some water park fun. Everyone and their mom had the same idea, because the place was a hot mess of crying kids and drunk white trash sassin' the life guards. Despite that, I really enjoyed myself! The lines for the long slides went fairly quick,* and the facilities themselves all seems to be new and in good condition. As an adult, I kept away from the wading pools and spent a lot of time in a tube going around on the "lazy river" and flying down the bigger slides. They were certainly modest compared to what you'd find at a corporate water park, but my group of friends still had a blast.
Then a thunder storm rolled in and they had to clear everyone out of the park because of a lighting threat.
Midwest life.
*Note: I guess a lot of people who never learn to swim properly still decide to go on slides that splash you down into deep water, because the line got held up a few times when the life guard needed to intervene to save someone. -

Allowing a lower fee for residents and letting us enter a half hour early are nice features. I wish the park did not close weekdays as of Aug. 20. It would be nice for us adult residents to have it open a bit longer. My niece and nephew LOVE this place. The pools are huge, the lazy river is a hit, and the slides are lots of fun. The onsite cafe also offers pizza, nachos and other snack fare for reasonable prices.

We took a fairly large camp group to this park. We spent a few hours there and no one got bored. The lazy river was a big hit. Only about 25% of our kids were over 48 inches tall, so they couldn't try any of the bigger slides, but our staff did and they really enjoyed the big one that dumps you into a bowl, and the very fast purple one. The big bucket over the fun house is a lot of fun as well... the anticipation factor was intense for our kids.
