    Oh my god the fries.
    The fries.
    The fries.
That is all you need to know.
    Go here for good fries.
If you're some kind of french fry aficionado,
this place must go on your list of places to check out.
Thick-sliced plank fries that are bigger than the pickle spear
    that comes with your burger,
they're crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
    Perfection!
Plus it comes with some seasoned sour cream to dip them in.
I've had their bacon pepper jack burger a couple times
and I could hardly make a dent in it because I filled up on fries so fast.
    Not a problem for me,
I love having left overs so I can recapture the moment later.
This place is kind of like a townie bar,
neon beer signs all over, NASCAR shit all over,
TVs on every wall broadcasting 'the game'.
The people are nice here, staff and patrons alike.
I like coming here, it's low key.
You could roll in wearing sweats and be fully embraced.

Choo Choo!!! I wish there were more places like The Rail Station in South Minneapolis. Oh there are other bar & grills but the ample draft beer (and btw, yesterday they just increased their taps by at least double), decent food, affordable prices, fun atmosphere, and the relatively great happy hour that doesn't end until 7pm make this place worth the trip. They usually have attractive daily specials too, not to mention daily meat raffles and Bingo on Wednesdays.

Our burgers were great and only half price during Vikings games! We also got side salads which were far superior to what you would expect in a bar and grill. They have a children's menu, but keep in mind on game day it's mostly adults.

Had brunch this morning and walked away a happy woman.  Great prices, the food was perfect, and being clearly forthright here, the people watching was even better.   The staff was super friendly.  And honestly it was such a pleasant brunch that I didn't even notice 2.5 hours had passed by - of course the most important reason this happened was due to my dear friend who chose this location :)    I'll def. be returning for another brunch.

The steak and chicken combo is my favorite entree at the Rail.  The first time I had it I was pleasantly surprised that a bar and grill made such a tasty dinner.  I like to get mine with the house merlot which complements it well.

We went to this place, I admit, only because we had an entertainment book coupon and I had read good things here on yelp. I was shocked when we pulled in and saw how big this place was because for some reason, I thought it would be really small.

They have a patio out front but there isn't much to look at on Minnehaha Avenue. There is nothing too terribly exciting about this bluest of the blue collar neighborhood. I am NOT dissing the hood either because the Longfellow neighborhood will always have a special place in my heart since I bought my first house right near here many years ago..Just saying..Its Blue Collar. I have to disagree with some fellow yelpers however in that I did not feel unsafe at all here but that could possibly be because it was a Monday night..Not too much goes down on a Monday night.

There was a great variety of people including some elderly, some younger college kids, and alot of neighborhood folks. Great mix of people.

We just ordered some burgers but looking around, all the food looked really good from their salads to their dinners. Our burgers were better than average, fries were piping hot, prices were extremely reasonable, and service was top notch.  Put all that on top of an extremely fresh-smelling, clean bathroom, and nice large parking lot, and you get my return visit!

I will be back!! (Even without a coupon)...:)

Rail Station is a place near and dear to my heart as it is also near and dear to my house.  That being said I would travel much farther than the current 10 blocks to enjoy the unassuming atmosphere, the awesome happy hour (which they give you coupons for so it can continue after the scheduled timeframe) and meat raffles.
Wanna hear something nutty - they have AWESOME stir fry!  I know, I know..."Why did you get the stir fry at a dive bar?!"  I didn't.  My wife did.  BUT I tried it.  And it was GREAT!

Rail Station is the kind of place you can drive by without ever noticing. But, you'd be missing out on a great atmosphere, service, and good bar food.

We stopped in and found a table on the patio. Minnehaha Ave isn't the best view, but the patio seating option was good nonetheless. We each ordered burgers. Pretty average bar fare. The wings were awesome. Full wings, not the nubs I'm accustom to at other area bars. $5 for a half-order, which was all I needed. Final tab came to a little over $20 with just soda to drink.

I'll definitely be back to the Rail Station. Looks like a great place to watch a game. They have a ton of activities during the week: Wii bowling league, karaoke, trivia, etc. Good beer selection as well.

Had a fairly decent meal here on a cold night.  The chili was good although the raw onions were a bit much at times.  Also, the philly was quite delicious.

Overall a nice place to grab some grub.

Food and drinks are cheap, staff is friendly, it's a nice plan to hang out. You're dining experience wont be haute cuisine but it'll be above average bar food. Rips, steak, chicken, burgers, sandwiches, usual barfare.

They have high life on tap, so that's a plus. High Life and PBR are my beer's when I'm not drinking summit or other fancy beers. And if I'm driving I avoid those as 2-3 can put you over and 2-3 highlifes I'm fine.

Okay, we live in the area so it was time to give this local place a try.  My favorite part was the outside patio, which was lovely!  And the food was VERY decently priced.  They have steak and prime rib, nice food for a good price.

I have been here twice and the first time I got the stir-fry, although bland, came with some delicious mozzarella bread.  The last time I was there I got the soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

Atmosphere is totally laid back and not pretentious.  I ordered a drink called, "bootylicious" and only felt a little bit silly.

I have lived in Minneapolis for 16 years now and never heard of this restaurant.  It is located about a block and a half off the light rail line.  My wife and I drove towards the bar and grill and were a little aprehensive about going there because the neighborhood was a little run down.  We got closer to the place and saw a full parking lot at about noon on Sunday and decided it would be okay to try it out.

We had a two for one coupon and entered.  There are a ton of TVs around the bar and pull tabs.  The people inside the joint looked like regulars and the waitresses seemed to know everyone.  We both wondered what it was like before the smoking ban and we guessed you probably couldn't see the hand in front of your face.  My wife thought she still smelled the linguering smell of smoke embedded in the walls.

I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with a side salad substitute instead of the fries and my wife got the chicken Caeser salad.

The buffalo sandwich wasn't spicy, which I would have preferred, but it was still filling and a solid sandwich.  The blue cheese with my salad and sandwich was amazing.  From their website, I think they make it themselves.  Outstanding.  Lots of chunks of blue cheese everywhere.

My wife's Caeser Salad was a good size portion with a roll and she said it was just right.  The croutons were nice and crispy and I dipped them in my fantastic dressing.

We both ordered diet cokes and our waitress seemed like she had lived a hard life, but she was one of the nicest ladies I have had as a waitress ever.  She refilled our drinks before we were even finished with them.

What a find, a great neighborhood bar.  We bought the new Entertainment book today and saw that they had another two for one in there so I know we will be back.

It started snowing for the first time in Minneapolis for the year and we left The Rail Station saying to ourself, what a cool place.

On their website you can print off coupons that give you half off an entree if you buy one at full price.  Plus they had fun happy hour specials throughout the week.  They also have catering.  It is also a Vikings bar, I can only imagine what it is like during a Vikings game.  $2.75 beers it stated during the games.

Funny story - Right when we walked in, a lady came to the table behind us and said to their friends, "So you guys brought this horsesh*t weather with you."  I knew this was going to be a cool place.

This is a friendly and comfortable neighborhood bar.  The inside is clean and simple.  We did not use it but it looked like there is a great patio area.  The staff was friendly.  There was a great crowd of friendly people watching the NCAA basketball championship on the night we were there.  I loved the laid back atmosphere

I have heard that karaoke nights are popular and fun at this location as well.

The had $3 domestic drafts and rail drinks on special.  I got the Grown Up Grilled Cheese (american and provolone cheese) and fries and really enjoyed it ($5.50 plus extra for the fries since I didn't want chips).  My boyfriend got a burger and enjoyed that as well.

This is definitely going to be a favorite bar in the area for a laid back time.

The bartender was a total jerk.  I asked for the bill and was waiting for it, but he was annoyed and just told me the ammount.  When I asked for a copy of the tab he rolled his eyes and told me that he already told me.  Horrible bar service.

They serve a decent breakfast and bloody mary here and you get to eat free on the day of your birthday.  I didn't think that the breakfast was great, but it isn't horrible.  The food is pretty inexpensive.  They had a ton of large flat screen TVs.  Its a nice sports bar for those in the neighborhood, or those who live near the light rail.  The place is pretty big and seems to have a lot of regulars.

I used to go to this place all the time.  But, then we discovered something:  they are rude to you.  Especially if you stay to closing time.  I understand the need for a place to get people to stop drinking at 1 or 2 am (it is their duty by law).  But, this place is super rude about it.  And, even worse, they will ask you if you want another drink 10 minutes before closing (and, of course, their clock is fast compared to yours).   So, you think, by your watch, you have a bit of time to drink that drink. Nope!  You still have a nearly full drink and they are yelling, at THE TOP of their lungs, "Get the HELL out!".   Seriously.  They don't ask nicely.  They go from "Can I get you another drink?" to "Get the hell out!" in 10 minutes.

Everything else was on par with a dive neighborhood bar, so that stuff is fine.  But, it is how they treat you ALL the way to the end that REALLY matters.

And this wasn't just something that made only me mad.  Several other patrons and all of my friends have noticed the same thing.  We have vowed to never go there again until they change management..and we have not been back since.

This is my neighbor-hoody bar, and I'm there a bit more than I care to admit.  It's a little rough around the edges, but the staff is friendly and the specials are worth going out in the cold for.

The Rail Station Bar has always been a great place to go for any sports game. The Wings are probably the best kept secret in Minneapolis. If you go on Tuesdays, you can get enough to feed a family for only $10. The deep fried mushrooms are great rail station treat as well.

One of the best neighborhood bars in Minneapolis, highly recommend.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon.  It's a pretty laid back neighborhood bar.  Cheep drinks, good atmosphere, didn't try the food because were stopping to pick up some Ted cooks BBQ later.  The gophers never play good when we stop here either.  It has an Irish pub kind of feel to it too, but that could just be because it's only a few days to St. Patricks Day and the walls are not going to let you forget it.  Didn't try the fish-n-chips special.  They have a patio, but it's your standard MN outdoor smokers lounge.  Kieth Richards is out there having a smoke.  I noticed they are quick to sweep up broken glass on the floor when you drop your beer.  This is not a "pants on the ground, gold in yo mouth, hat turned sideways, lookin like a fool" type bar.  If you are looking for that, go to Augies.

Entered this charming little bar/restaurant around 7:30 on a Tuesday evening.  Just came to get a bite to eat. The mood is really laid back and casual, feels like a small-town bar. Grabbed some appetizers that came out pretty quickly. The fries with seasoned sour cream are very tasty! A great little spot in the neighborhood, would definitely recommend.
