One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
There is one restaurant on my speed dial. That restaurant is Raging Burrito. Between the Pineapple Jerk and Bangkok burritos, I am a dedicated RB fan.
We mostly do carryout, but they also have that awesome gorgeous patio, suitable for going with friends and shooting the bull. do be forewarned though, the parking lot attendants usually want you to pay even if you're just running in to pick up an order - occasionally I can BS or schmooze my way by, but if you're picking up, have the three bucks on-hand just in case.
For anyone who's lived in Atlanta during the 90s, they will tell you of a place called "Tortillas". Tortillas was a famous Burrito joint on Ponce De Leon (where J. Christopher's is at) that served some of the most amazing burritos. Suddenly it vanished in 2002 or so. I don't know why but found it strange that Moe's and Willy's soon appeared which I think that some non-compete agreement was negotiated between the owners of Tortillas and the corporate folks at Moe's and Willy's.
If you miss Tortillas, you'll find that the spirit is alive and well at Raging Burrito.

First of all, how can you call yourself making carna asada tacos and you don't have corn tortillas? What the hell! My friend wanted some carne asada tacos like we used to get for a dollar all over Southern California. I searched for a spot in Decatur and saw the reviews for this spot, so we rolled. He had his mouth all perched for some taco deliciousness, but when he asked for carna asada and fish tacos with corn tortillas, the waitress said that they don't use corn tortillas. My friend was a bit disappointed, but ordered them anyway. I ordered a beef burrito, with rice and refried beans on the side. The waitress said that they only have black refried beans. No refried pinto beans.
What the hell!
At this point we protested. "How can you serve tacos and burritos without corn tortillas OR refried pinto beans and call yourself a Mexican food joint?"
The waitress (who was NOT latina) replied, "We do it California style."
We shouted, "WE'RE FROM CALIFORNIA!! THIS IS NOT HOW THEY DO IT IN CALFORNIA!!" Yeah, bitch. We just owned your ass. Thought we didn't know any better, heh?
After the food arrived, (and rather quickly I might add) my friend said that the tacos were not too bad. At least the flour tortillas were cooked. He said that the fish tacos at Nathalies were much better though. And they aren't even a taco spot! My burrito was all right, but no way near as good as the burritos back home. The refried black beans were tasty, but were better after being scooped with chips, which we had to order separately as they do not have a chips and salsa setup like back home.
Other than that, we had a light-hearted, near decent dinner while playing trivia and discussing the joys of masturbation. The outside patios are as nice as they say. But we really should have been talking about how great the food was instead of talking about how great it is to pleasure ourselves.
Two stars because he enjoyed his tacos. And one for the conversation that got me hotter than that bland-ass salsa.
Came here with my roommate-- not bad. I got the 3 taco plate with salad (don't get salad next time cause it's not good; just go all out and get the rice and beans). I had the shredded beef taco, the carnitas taco, and the crispy fish taco. I was satisfied with all three of them, and the thing that makes these tacos unique is the fact that they make the soft taco shell decently crispy... so if you don't like that, you should let them know. I really enjoy fish tacos so the one thing I would suggest is to make the piece of fish a bit bigger-- I felt like I couldn't taste it cause there was not enough fish in it.
However, their burrito selection also looked good, and I'll be hitting up this spot again. I do think the burritos are a bit on the pricier side compared to a place like Chiptole, but I can't tell you if it's worth it yet since I haven't had one.
If I want pineapple, steak and jalapenos in my burrito.... then that's what I get! I love the fact that you can build your own food. So no matter if you're a meat or veggie lover, there's something for you.
The atmosphere is great. They ALWAYS have outstanding coupons floating around (buy 1, get 1) and they have a good beer selection on tap. The staff is always super nice. RB can get super busy, so if you don't have service *right here, right now*, take an Ativan before you go.
It is one of my favorite lunch spots. It should be yours too...
Raging Burrito gets the job done, if by "the job" you mean "being so stuffed with burrito that you fear you might die." These things are hefty, and you must choose your burrito filling wisely -- I'm partial to the blackened tilapia. It's kind of healthy sounding, which makes me feel better about eating something the size of my head.
I've been happy with the food and service, but there was one fateful night (during the Decatur Beach Party) when the bar was so swamped that they RAN OUT OF LIMES. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas anyway, and while half the glasses were properly rimmed with salt, mine was rimmed with sugar. Not cool, dudes. But then, the Decatur Beach Party wasn't that cool, either, so I guess I'll avoid this problem in the future by not going out that night.
Despite the violent name, the burritos at this establishment are reasonably safe, and tasty to boot. The same cannot be said for, say, Savage Pizza.
The menu includes a lot of non-traditional burritos, like pineappe jerk ("Hey, what kind of burrito is that?" "It's pineapple, jerk!"), Bangkok, and tilapia. I'm kind of scared of that all that, so I stick to the more traditional fare - fajita, black beans, etc. My girlfriend assures me the more exotic stuff is good too.
The stuff I've had here has always been good, and the prices are very reasonable. If I worked near here, I'd probably gain a lot of weight.
This is an OK burrito shack. I love the large patio. I've been here a few times and have had good service both times. I ordered the fajita burrito on my last trip out. It was good but not memorable. For the price, it was a good value.
I also tried a strawberry Margarita which was, again, OK; not very strong though. But, this is a restaurant, not a bar, so it was OK. I think this is a good spot if you live in Decatur but, not necessarily worth the drive if you live elsewhere. Just go to Moes.
I love this place. I can't say enough good things about it. When the weather is nice I highly recommend sitting outside in one of the two available patios.
The margaritas are strong and good. The burritos can be made to order but the menu also has a laundry list of good suggestions. I always get the ragin' burrito with black beans in a spinach tortilla. Yum yum yum. The waitstaff and funky, fun, and attentive. You can have a very filling meal for cheap.
Support your local burrito maker and take a trip to Ragin' Burrito today!
Overrated. I was disappointed by my burrito's taste and mushiness. It was more expensive than Moe's and Chipotle, but not nearly as good as either.
The chips were great.
I love this place. The food is outstanding. They serve your standard fare of burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc... but they have a laundry list of items you can add to your creation. Things like cucumber, sundried tomatoes, spinach, potatoes, and more. They also have a lot of specialty burritos like cajun, jerk, tokyo, etc... And the burritos are huge!!! The ingredients are so fresh.
The atmosphere is really cool too, especially the back patio. The only downside is the parking situation can be a little tricky. There's one big lot behind it that you have to pay to park in. Or, you can try your luck at getting a street spot somewhere around downtown Decatur. And speaking of Decatur, that's the only other downside for me. While I love the scene there, it's a few miles away from where I live. I wish the location on Piedmont at Ansley was still open. I never knew, or understood why that place closed. It was always packed.
If you haven't had Raging Burrito yet, check it out. It definitely stands out amongst the myriad burrito and taco joints around town.
I'm seriously surprised by some of the reviews here. My friends and I have turned RB into our default place for drinks and snacks after work. I am very sensitive to how I am treated by servers, and they have never ever been nothing but professional and nice. In fact, our friend brought her dog to sit on the patio with us, and even though her dog lunged and barked at Darren (and she was totally mortified and said she'd never bring back her dog), all the waitstaff told her it was no big deal.
There are lots of vegetarian (and even vegan) options. The tofu is phenomenal. I have come to the conclusion that those who say Willy's is better have no tastebuds, as their burritos taste like cardboard. RB is a bit more expensive, but the quality is about a bajillion times better. I almost never get guacamole anyplace because it's usually awful and not fresh, but I think RB makes theirs to order, because I have never gotten bad guac from them.

Our company lunch today was catered by Raging Burrito. I have never been but everyone seemed to be pretty excited about it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a total disaster and was coined "Burritogate" by our executive assistant.
First of all, we ordered 44 burritos and only 37 were delivered (I was #37, just made the cutoff). It took over another hour and a half before the missing 7 burritos made it to their rightful owners, who by now were stuffed on chips and sharing other people's burritos.
As for the burrito itself, I got a chicken burrito with black beans, rice, extra cilantro, guacamole, and spinach tortilla. It tasted like a soft/sticky microwaved tortilla with pre-chewed mush in it. The rice was overcooked, the beans were halfway smashed up, and the chicken was no where to be found (at least not in the first 1/3 of the burrito that I made it through before tossing it).
The only thing I can think of to justify the lukewarm mush was that our offices are located 7 miles away. Still, from what I hear, Scott (the owner) didn't seem to apologetic about the missing delivery or the lack of meat...
It's always a pleasure visiting Raging Burrito and now Raging Taco - The whole place is raging with enthusiasm and the staff loves making you happy. If there's something on the menu that you want to tweak just ask and they'll try their best to get it right... I've screwed up a few burritos ordering too many peppers . The bartender Laura never misses a beat. She's highly energetic and always cheerful.
I also must mention, I think they have one of the coolest patios in all of Decatur, I love the mural back there. I've had a chance to try several (monster sized) burritos and salads and have my true favorites, but there's really something for everyone. Definitely worth your visit, and be sure to visit Laura behind the bar, she's usually found in the Raging Taco side these days.
I know the owner reads this cause he wrote me a nice note after the last review. The 5 stars stay, cause I want everyone to go here and support it cause it is great. I get a pitcher of good Pale Ale for $11 and a delicious burrito. But I want to add, careful with the music, it was too loud when we arrived but then was lowered, and the difference is really important. And I am sorry if this sounds hateful, but there is a waitress here (thankfully not ours) that is so scary that I think I would leave if she came to my table and asked for my order. Really really scary. Halloween scary. Remember, its food and hygiene is important.

Ordering a raging burrito is about as close as you can get to the classic Frijoleros "Bean Man's Choice" from the salad days of Atlanta Burritos. Alas, Frijoleros is a distant memory... but it can be relived on the Decatur Square at the Raging Burrito!
One of the few places left that steam the entire burrito... I don't need to see the burrito being made in front of me, it ain't a subway sandwich! Roll that baby up and steam it whole! Unlike the chain places, your cheese is melted. I also love the option of unwrapping the foil, slathering it with tomatillo sauce and eating it with a fork and knife.
Highly recommended.
I went here tonight on a date. It was walking distance from Twain - the bar (I've not previously been to) - so we parked there and walked to Raging Burrito. When the guy asked me where I wanted to go, this was the only place I knew, so I immediately suggested Raging Burrito. If he didnt know I was on Yelp before this, he does now. I told him I had never been here, but I was probably going to be reviewing it tonight.
The decor was nice, its a small space but it compensates for that well. There were plenty of places to sit at 8pm on a Friday night. We sat in the room connected to the patio, so the sound carried from one table to another, but not badly. I could still enjoy my conversation.
My server was attentive and helpful. I decided to get the Mediterrenean Quesidilla. My date and I thought that this recipe, although strange, was worth a try. He got the BBQ Burrito. Both were absolutely delicious. I could not tell you anything about drinks, we had water and unsweet tea respectively.
Raging Burrito seemed like a chill place to go. Great ambiance, not too much pressure for the guy and good food.
The patio was too cold to experience, but I bet in the summer time it is awesome. Def. coming back!
Not bad, but I was not impressed. I ordered an average-sized chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla tasted perfectly fine, but it was $8. It didn't come with anything like a drink, chips & salsa, or rice & beans - nothing. Seriously, eight bucks for a chicken quesadilla with nothing else? I can get a chicken quesadilla with chips & salsa and a drink for 8 bucks at Willy's. This is way overpriced.
Another strike against this place was actually kinda surprising (considering I never have a problem with this anywhere else) - I didn't like the salsa. It had this weird aftertaste.
Eight dollar chicken quesadilla plus lame salsa. Service was a little slow as well.

Raging Burrito is yet another of the stellar hangouts on Decatur Square. The pineapple salsa is amazing and definitely a nice change from the standard tomato based salsa. I always order that and the queso to start off the meal.
Prior to becoming a vegetarian, the fajita burrito was my favorite. It was easily two meals for the price of one. Post going veggie, I would opt for the Mediterrenean quesadilla. It also has pineapple in it, which I love. I'd put pineapple on anything ,but that notwithstanding, the food is always innovative and tasty. I never had a bad meal there.
Their service is impeccable! In less than five minutes after my arrival, I was handed a platter of fresh chips and salsa (regular, not pineapple. Sadface) and MY FOOD ORDER. Talk about doing a triple take. I ordered the two taco lunch special (fish, of course) and it came to just over seven bucks! Clearly, Decatur IS where it's greater!

I totally love Raging Burrito. It is definitely on our shortlist of answers for the "whats for dinner?" question.
Here are great things about RB:
- You can call in/pick up your order. The guy at the parking lot doesn't even make you pay. Perfect for a Tuesday night when you're gross and just want to eat that burrito you've been craving without having to deal with Decaturites.
- Their chips and salsa are quite tasty. You can pick from a few salsas (I think) but just go with their default. Order chips and salsa, but the food comes fast, so take your time with the menu.
- Order any burrito you want ... IN A BOWL. Fabulous! It's the innards of the burrito without the awkward thoughts of "do I cut this, or do I shove it in my mouth?"
- Order any burrito you want ... WITH TOFU. While i'm totally an omnivore, I know the angst of a vegetarians. I actually prefer to order their tofu - it's prepared perfectly.
- On a nice day, take advantage of their patio, and reimbursed parking.
Yay for Raging Burrito!
Questions you'll have to answer when you place your order:
Wrap or bowl?
What kind of wrap?
Black beans or pinto?
Chicken, Steak or Tofu?
And your name and stuff too ....
So many burritos, so little time.
If you like it spicy, may I recommend the Cajun Killer? While there is a ton of great stuff on the menu, by the time we hit up RB in our rotation, all I can think about is the Cajun Killer, and never break the habit. So. Good.
Their burritos are humongous. I'm always stuffed silly - and I don't even go for the Monster size!!! Fact: could use more flavor, but the more eclectic choices are quite yummy, like blackened tilapia or the thai-ish one (with peanuts and some Asian tasting sauce?) There is a lot of potential on the build-you-own page, so if you don't like your burrito, blame only yourself ;)
The "Basic Burrito" ($4.50) delivers more bang for the buck than any competitor in town. I don't know why my wife keeps choosing fancy burritos for $7 or so; the Basic is stuffed with cheese, tomatoes, onions, rice, TWO kinds of beans, and seasoned potatoes. Best lunch under $5 I've seen in a long time.
The location is great -- a stone's throw from the Decatur MARTA station, and you don't even have to cross the street. We sat in the patio out back and enjoyed the fresh air while our server kept our drinks refilled.
I've also been here for get-togethers. A $200 preorder gets you a private space for free, and that's not bad when you consider that at their group rate, that buys 40 burritos of any description. (Haven't got that many friends? Hope you've got a large freezer!)
Raging Burrito is one of the two burrito places in Atlanta that I can actually get behind (the other one is El Myr). I used to eat at the Decatur RB at least once a week, and I never got tired of it (although my stomach didn't exactly love me for all that beanage).
There are a few things that really make Raging Burrito stand out from your run-of-the-mill burrito joint. For one, it has a full bar. And unless this has changed in the past few years, they have a pretty good draft beer selection and their bartenders can mix a damn good drink.
Another plus is that they offer a variety of eclectic burrito ingredients, and ALL of them are high-quality. The steak is the best steak I have EVER had in a burrito place. Oh, and the pineapple salsa is TO DIE FOR.
Also, on most occasions I've had very good (and pleasant) service. My only (minor) complaint is that at certain times of day it can be hard to get a seat.
Yes, we were crazy thinking we could actually find a seat, let alone standing room at The Brick Store in Decatur Square at 8 pm on a Friday. So we decided to bail and find something else. Because it's nearby, Raging Burrito was the default choice.
My favorite part of the experience, besides the margaritas which we quickly ordered upon arrival, was getting a chuckle out of the t-shirts hung on the wall -- "We Roll Fatties." *grin *
The food here is just okay. Chips and salsa were acceptable (which they charge for, btw) and we also got some pretty good guacamole. I was surprised at the variety of burritos they offer in addition to the standard fair you'd expect at a burrito joint -- funky flavor combos like pineapple/jerk, teriyaki, thai peanut, etc. I settled for the chipotle bbq chicken burrito. I understood quickly why their slogan refers to fatties -- the thing was huge! The flavors were good, but something was funky with the tortilla. It seemed a bit thin, or maybe steamed too long or something. It was a little on the gooey side. But overall, tasty.
Bottom line: decent food, pretty inexpensive especially if you forego drinks, and it's close to The Brick Store if you get stiffed like we did. =)
There are plenty of burrito places in Atlanta but few of them can hold a candle to the fusion-style food in this place. The pineapple salsa will make you rethink that salsa has to be red to be good. I tried the BBQ chicken burrito figuring that if they were going to screw something up, that would be it. I was pleasantly surprised to find it extremely tasty. My lunch-mate had a quesadilla and was also quite happy with the result.
The wait staff was knowledgeable and very patient with two first-timers. Good service, refreshingly different and tasty food and very reasonable prices make this a "must go" kind of place.
And the location is ideal. Any place that is right next to a MARTA station in this town is a treasure.
I'm just not that into this place. i mean, the food is acceptable, but i should be able to order a beans and rice burrito and have it taste decent. they might as well stuff the non-specialty burritos with wet paper towels for all the flavor goin on there... also, my daughter was very displeased with the kid's burrito too, so i swear it isn't just me. the chips are good, the beer is relatively inexpensive, and the tequila selection is awesome, so i'll probably be back. if i'm in the mood for burritos though, i'll probably swing by willie's first where i can spend less and leave with far greater satisfaction.
The atmosphere is dope. There were a lot of children, young couples, couples, singles, a randomized group. However, the service was unable to handle the frenzy, therefore, our service sucked. There also wasn't much of an option for entrees without meat. I had the potato and cheese quesadilla, I could have made that myself. I hate going into a restaurant knowing that I could have made something better. It's a great place to people watch and enjoy the energy of a community but the food sucks.
I have eaten here a few times, and each time, I am pretty happy. The food is decent, and the nachos are more than decent. I think that my favorite thing about this place is the frozen margaritas. They are the perfect blend of sour mix and tequila, and really do quench my thirst on a hot day; and in Atlanta, that is basically every day.
If you are in Decatur, and want a scrumptious plate of nachos and a great margarita, hit the Raging Burrito. Also, important to note, is that you can park in the "pay" lot behind it, and they will totally validate. Now isn't that nice? Especially since parking in Decatur is a "boo hiss" situation.
The other day my boyfriend and I decided we were REALLY in the mood for burritos and margaritas. We went over to our favorite place, El Myr, only to find out they were having electrical problems and couldn't cook!
Poor El Myr! I am sure it's all been resolved, though!
So. What were our choices.....think...think...think... burritos AND margaritas.... hmmm. You know? Last time I went to Azul I was sober enough to notice that it is connected to a Raging Burrito...and I remember a bar in there..... let's go!
So we went to this location and got exactly what we wanted. Of course, it was no El Myr, but it served the purpose! The menu can be a little disorienting; there are so many choices that it makes it hard to choose what you want! We ended up with tasty tofu burritos and margaritas and all was well with the world.
Yes, like most people I am giving this place 4 stars. It really is a great place and I enjoy eating here when I am in Decatur.
This place is located in down town Decatur right next to the MARTA station amongst a strip of clubs and restaurants. The inside has a casual bar-like feel ...but not bar in a bad way. The burritos are good. Try their Thai salad and chips with a variety of salsas as well.
I really like this place and definitely recommend it.
One bite of my burrito was all it took to make me realize how bad all the other burrito joints were that I've been to in the last year.
I eat a lot of burritos. It's a function of working a gig next to a Willy's and having very few quick options for lunch. Not that Willy's is bad, but it isn't even in the same galaxy as Raging Burrito when it comes to ingredients, freshness, and flavor.
Big thumbs up on the chili queso that comes with the chips. Getting something other than the same old salsa that everyone serves was nice. I went with the Thai burrito, excellent herbs and spices as well as a peanut sauce that was strong without overpowering everything else.
I didn't have time to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere (jury duty lunch break wasn't very long), but I could easily see myself spending an evening here with a lot of tequila and more great food.
I have been back recently and they continue to offer good service and good food!

RB is my default when I'm hungry downtown. The waitstaff is pretty friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, they have great beers on tap, a freakishly huge TV by the bar and yes, the food is Godlike.
Part of the reason I moved to Decatur was to live closer to this restaurant. I am not joking at all.
Excellent burrito place just a few steps from my office. I p/u takeout here all the time. They have great vegetarian selections, and the Cajun Killer Burrito is my favorite (makes my eyes water everytime).
Raging Burrito is a great place to people watch. It sits right on the newly renovated MARTA Plaza on Decatur Square. What a great neighborhood Downtown Decatur has become.
The restaurants on the square are easily accessible by MARTA train, so you can help the environment and eat well!
All I can say is that their burritos are F*cking HUGE!!!!!!!
try the Pineapple Jerk Chicken one! It is awesome!!!
Wash it down with some Sweetwater.
This place is a bit small on the inside but has a nice size patio. I definitely prefer the patio. I have always had really good service. The portions are really big. I've never finished a burrito here. I've had the Jamaican jerk chicken burrito. It was good and very very spicy. Then I changed it up the next time oh so much much and had the pineapple jerk chicken burrito. What can I say, I'm a sucker for jerk chicken. Anyway, I prefer the pineapple burrito. The pineapple really helped balance out the spiciness with some sweet. The veggie chili queso is pretty standard but tasty.
this is clearly a place for groups of friends to go chill and down Coronas and generic spanish food. theres a great patio out back and you can walk through Azul to get there! the service was experienced and old hats at the restaurant biz. im not a burrito eater, so im not qualifid to review the food, but eating out is mostly about the experience anyway, so go and enjoy!
its not the best, but its relaxed and open so it's OK in my book
REVISION:
I had a good eating experience here, so I bumped my 3 to a 4.
I actually didn't eat a burrito, but had the Thai Salad with tofu and it was really yummy, and very fresh. Their margaritas are also great...not the cheapest, but good and strong. I'll have to keep trying this place out.

I have eaten here before, but my memory is a little dim on that. I did go however, for some drinks recently, pretty late on a Friday nite. RB is open at their cool bar and you can stroll right into Azul next door. Azul has a nice patio, but so far I haven't really liked the crowd. There is a $2-5 cover to get in on the weekend. Unfortunately, the bartender spazzed while my cuz and I were sitting at the bar and spilled Natty Light or something all over our legs and clothes. He offered to buy us another beer, but as we were heading out soon, we declined. All in all, I'm not really a fan of this place...I recommend chilling at Brick Store instead.
A loosely organized group of indie-rockers that used to bounce back and forth between Decatur and the ever-popular Friday night at Lenny's recently began to flock exclusively to a courtyard shared by Azul and the Raging Burrito, just off Decatur Square. They're called The Decatur Social Club.
That means Friday nights at Raging Burrito are totally angsty, filled with shoe-starin' kids with bleached hair and black jeans.
During the daytime hours at Raging Burrito, they serve, you guessed it, burritos. And guacamole, of course.
