the best!!! DEAR RAFFI... I LOVE YOU!!
Service - Excellent
Food - DELICIOUS!! also very BIG portions, i can never finish an entree myself.
JUST TRY IT OUT, you will not be disappointed unless you are from somewhere other than the planet earth! -
Review from Jason A.
At first, you might be dissuaded not to eat here because the prices seem a little high for Persian food... especially for lunch ($20+ for lunch?!), BUT... let me tell you, the portions are BIG and the food is YUM. If you're hungry, you can definitely finish it, but if you're not, you can make 2 lunches out of it. I got the luleh kabob, and the meat was seasoned well, and the rice was deelish.
The staff recommended some good dishes for the rest of my party too. Everyone left satisfied and happy. You definitely get what you pay for. Good job Raffi! -

I am a Persian food newbie & after trying Raffi's, I am a huge fan!!!
We went on a late Sunday afternoon, so it was obviously filled with a lot of people, mostly in large groups. But since there were only 3 of us, we were seated relatively fast amongst many others that were waiting for a table.
In the beginning, I honestly didn't know what to expect because I think it was my second time trying Persian food EVER and the first one was so long ago that it doesn't even count! But already, even before looking at the menu, I knew it would be good as my friend swore by it + there were sooooo many people each having a ginormous platter of food that looked amazing.
Knowing that the portion was going be huge & beyond what we can handle, we shared Soltani Kabob which is filet Mignon and ground beef, skewered and charbroiled to perfection, and they mean it when they say cooked to perfection. It was de-lish!!! I loved the meat, grilled tomatoes & grilled peppers, although the peppers were superrrrrrrrrrrrr hot even without the seeds. Also, even after sharing, there was so much food left over which fed me well for the next meal. So if you think $21 is high for a dish, it's really not.
We also ordered Kashk O'Bademjan, which is fried eggplant served on a bed of caramelized onion and kashk and boy, was it yummy!
I know I will be coming back real soon for some more hearty dishes!!! Thanks Raffi for getting me into Persian food! -

Finally made it out to Raffi's after hearing so much about how great the food is, especially the meats.
I walked in to an elegant patio setup, and an attentive serving staff. We started with the hummus, and ordered the Shish Kabob and the Barg Kabob. Both plates came with some seriously tender and flavorful piece of filet mignon, but the barg is the one you're gonna want to go with. I don't know if it's prepped differently, but it was just way more pleasing and delicious for my mouth. And the 1/2 pound of rice it's accompanied with is some of the best I've had. Take note that the servings are HUGE, so unless you're a champ like me and inhale everything, you'll have lunch for the following day.
Good service, value, and a great dining experience overall. -
Review from Sophia C.
Friday night and came here for a friend's birthday dinner. It was sheer mandness, and it was 9pm!!! What the what?!
The ambiance is must what draws them in, along with the portion sizes we saw while waiting for our table to be set up (table for 18)...but other than that, the spices on the food was lacking.
We had reservations for 8:30 for our huge party and our table was not set up until 9pm and even when we got to our table...it still wasn't quite set up! Really, couldn't just put down napkins and utensils along with wine glasses? Not rocket science.
After we were seated, even just getting water here was interesting. We brought our own wine for the dinner and again, just waiving down our waiter for the corkage was a feat. Look, I understand that it's a happening place, but our table was consistently ignored even with many of us at our big table waiving down someone.
So we get to our food. Hmmm...did I miss something? The lamb kabobs I split with my foodie partner was lacking and we both agreed. Not enough spices and the lamb was rather overcooked. Lamb needs to be tender to some degree when it's cooked, and this baby was clearly overcooked. Their roasted vegetables were good, so a bit of that along with pieces of the kabob made the meat taste a wee better. The rice was cooked perfectly, but again, the main star of the lamb was meh.
I've definitely had better kabobs in the Glendale area at half the price with roughly the same portion, so to me, this place was more hype for the ambiance than the main attraction, which is the food. Pair the mediocre food with the wait service...mmmm, yea, I may return...in a year. Definitely a people watching restaurant. -

Over the years, Raffi's has become my favorite kebab place ever.
The prices are bit higher than other kebab places but the portions are huge and the taste makes it totally worth the few extra dollars.
My favorite dishes: boneless chicken, lule, steak, fish, and lamb kebabs. The meat is always seasoned wonderfully and the rice is incredible. Now I'm an Asian girl who has grown up in Glendale. I obviously love my rice. I will drive to places out of my way just because they have good rice. The rice here has that wonderful "i was cooked in yummy broth" taste while being perfectly fluffy and loose. I don't care about the carbs - I'm glad they pile on that rice!! mmmmm
My favorite appetizer here is the cucumber yogurt dip. The yogurt has tiny pieces of cucumber mixed into it that makes it perfect for dipping your lavash bread into or making tiny lavash, kebab, and yogurt sandwiches. It's a really cool, refreshing appetizer to accompany your otherwise heavy meal.
The drinks here are quite decent as well. They don't skimp too much on the alcohol for their mixed drinks. My favorite is the mojito. The mint in the mojito works really well with the rest of the middle eastern spices in the food. -

Glendale you have surprised me! Who knew nice restaurants like Raffi's existed in this area! I had dinner here with a friend this past Monday night and we were seated right away. A Monday night = quiet night. We sat in the outdoor patio because it seemed nice to sit outside and they had their outdoor heaters on so I figured why not (later on I couldn't take the cold and had to put my jacket back on, I should have opted to sit inside instead). This restaurant has probably one of the nicest outdoor patio seating area I've ever seen! It's so clean and spacious, with lots of tables. Now all you need is a view of the ocean to add the finishing touch!
Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Chicken Koobideh Kabob [Ground (leg & breast) of chicken mixed with special spices and charbroiled] and it was amazingly delicious! Huge portions so beware! But good for me cause I couldn't wait to have it the next day for leftovers! Very polite and quick servers. I would definitely come back here again. -

Huge portions! Great Service!
I always order their shish or boneless chicken kebabs. The shirazi salad is also delicious! I always leave this place with a to-go box full of leftovers. Their plates are huge & heavy!
Service has always been consistent, too. Great ambiance and good food, what more do you need? -
Review from Troy H.
The wife, myself and and our friend have not been to this place in a long time, and thought we were due for a visit. It was a great choice. They always have had great portions, so we decided on Lamb shank served with special rice mixture of baby lima beans and fresh dill, Chicken with Bone Kabob
Skewered and charbroiled, marinated chunks of cornish hen with bones, grilled eggplant with tomato sauce and garlic and a traditional Persian stew with lamb, potato, tomato, white beans and dried lime served with sangak bread and pickled garlic. This was plenty for three people. The portions are huge at this place. I always have a love for hummus, but the eggplant always goes great with their bread.
The food was as great as the service. Awesome. Everything was cooked just right and the service was just as good.
Parking is valet, or on one of the side streets.
When your in Glendale and in the mood for some great grub, this is a great place to accommodate the hunger. -

Holy cow their rice portions are huge. This was enough leftovers for another 2 meals for me. The meat is deliciously marinated. The eggplant appetizer dish was tasty. It's a cold dish. The meal comes with pita/naaan (?) so you can dip in the eggplant. Though i was fairly confused when they placed a plate of onions, radish, and other greens on the table. I figured it out... i suppose it's garnish you can add to your pita/eggplant.
I think my experience was tainted by having to sit outside in December under no heat lamp at night. I was freezing cold. We weren't even offered an option to sit inside. -

I had another great meal here today and decided to toss in one more review...
The best restaurant in Glendale...period! Excellent food, reasonable prices and attentive service make it a great value, and throw in the outdoor patio environment and it is total winner. Dpn'r come here if you're thinking of having a hamburger...it is a classic Persian Armenian food experience and they do it really well. Highly recommend! -
Review from Sam L.
I've had tons and tons of Persian food...and I have to say this is by far my favorite....
The food here is delicious and actually tastes good heated up the next day (which is by far...and I mean by far...) a rarity with Persian food... I don't know why, but with most of it... you need to eat it then or then cold... because if not, it tastes pretty bad. This place is not one of them...
Anyway, I've been here several times...
First of all, the mixture of onion and parsley that they bring with the flatbread is amazing. I love onions... so yum! and the mixture with parsley is a double yum!
Supposedly, the mast-musir (?) basically a thick yogurt with garlic, is great. I don't eat yogurt... so I can't verify this fact... but they make their own here...and as I said, it's supposedly really good.
My other favorite is the rice. Yes, the rice is the typical basmati rice with saffron... yum! Love the saffron! Also, I typically get the koobideh, which is basically just ground beef seasoned and mixed with onions. Yum!
Again, I also heard that the doogh, basically a carbonated (or they also have a non-carbonated version) yogurt drink with mint (or without) is good... but again, I don't drink/eat yogurt. The one time, I actually tried a sip...well, I decided I wouldn't drink it again. I think they make their own on the premises as well (instead of the bottled kind at Persian markets).
Oh! And the portions here are huge! Definitely very shareable! Every time I've been here... I've been scorned for not finishing my plate... (apparently, it's a Persian thing) but the mountain (and I'm talking MOUNTAIN) of rice and meat on my plate... is just too overwhelming! :)
As someone mentioned, it is very loud... but I've never met any Persians that weren't loud... since they're very into "having fun" and just generally "talk" loud.
Also, it's always pretty packed and most of the seating is outdoor. It's enclosed with a metal fence and has a sort of garden appeal (complete with greenery on the outside) with a tiny couple tables in one small inside part... but most of the seating is outdoor... but there are plenty of heat lamps.
Anyway, there are tons of Persians and Armenians here...so you know the food's gotta be good...since they'd know best of all. -

Decided to be WILD and try something different.
My gf and our significant others came after watching The Nutcracker Ballet.
We didnt have to wait for a table but we waited awhile for them to come and get our drinks. Then they forgot my sprite and so I was the last one to get mine after 15 minutes. We ordered the fried eggplant appetizer and it was pretty yum.
For entrees we ordered the Cornish Hen (OMG so good), Persian stew dish (The vegetable texture was weird, and the beef (I forgot the cut but it was tender).
Side note: We got like plates and plates of rice.... too much rice!!!!! I think for the sides there should be more vegetables instead of one roasted tomato! -
Review from Edwin A.
What more can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? After hearing multiple people recommend it to me, I finally found myself here one day for lunch.
I don't go to kabob places that often since I can have it almost every weekend at home. Well Raffi's is the only place that matches, and perhaps in some slight ways surpasses, my dad's kabob. Everything about it is exactly how I am used to eating this deliciousness: the crazy huge portion, the succulent meat, the mounds of rice, the tomato, and finally the accompanying sumac on the table. Pure deliciousness.
I really can't, or shouldn't say much more about it. If you love meat go to this place, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. -

Raffi's is the best, this place supposedly is one of the greatest places to eat. Well my experience has me confused and a little bit wondering what went wrong. I came here with one of my girlfriends and our boys and it was just two couples. We came here around 5 P.M on a Saturday night it was not that busy and we didn't have to wait in line. We sat inside instead of outside with the heaters.
We at down waiting for about 10 minutes or so to get our drinks. We ordered the drinks with an appetizer. After the appetizer was on your desk we still waiting for quite a bit to get our order.
No biggie just chatting up. Eating the eggplant appetizer. Not bad at all especially loving how much bread they gave us with also some radishes and raw onions!
The food came to us slowly and our drinks weren't really getting refilled overall the experience was lacking a little bit from what I hear about. This place kind of let me down but the food was pretty alright. I think I will have to come back and just maybe try it one more time!
I ordered the bone cornish hen and it was pretty good and juicy. Loads of rice!!! -

Corona del Mar, CA
Came here with a group of 5 on a Sunday night, and the wait wasn't too bad, about 30 minutes. Once we got seated though, it took nearly 15 minutes before a waiter came to us and asked us for drinks...not a good start.
But once the food came out, everyone was pretty happy! The Tabule salad is excellent here, as well as the yogurt and cucumbers. Our entrees were outstanding, with the favorite being the Soltani Kabob! The beef stew however is not your typical American stew and is actually rather bitter, something we all couldn't quite appreciate. But the Kebobs are excellent, with the Soltani being the favorite, followed closely by the Chicken Koobideh.
The desserts here were actually surprisingly good! We tried the lemon sorbet (actually comes in a large lemon), the chocolate/raspberry gelato, and the baklava (the best dessert by far). We also tried their Armenian Coffee, which was outstanding and a must try for any coffee lover.
Overall we were quite happy with the food, but the service was rather lousy and the prices were slightly high, which gave up any chance of giving this place 5 stars. But for anyone looking for high quality Kebobs, this is definitely the place to go! -

I'm literally salivating as I write this. Ground beef kabob and steak are as juicy, tender and flavorful as it gets. I'm the biggest meat connoisseur I know and this is up there. Awesome hummus as well. Ask for everything medium or medium rare. The reviews on here and their dining room expansions are a testament of how well their business is doing. Don't get turned off by all the Mercedes and BMWs at the valet -- that's just Glendale for you..

San Diego, CA
I think San Diego has better Persian restaurants, but it was still yummy. prices were what I expected. Our waiter was decently nice and caring. There were lots of Persians & local people eating, which means it's yummy! I personally think that one plate of order can be shared between two people.
My mom ate almost the whole HUGE!!! plate by herself! She just looooooved it and it was her first time eating Persian. :) -

Raffi's Place once had good food and terrific service, but the place has gotten too big for its own good. I've had two back to back bad experiences there.
For starters, SERVICE IS THE WORST. There is no designated waiter (especially on busy weekends) and you basically flag anyone down for refills, table service, etc.
The quality of the food has slipped lately too. Most of their dishes now tend to be overly cooked and dry. Plus, what's the deal with the cold lavash bread Raffi's hands out? I prefer warmed pita or bread made from scratch like that of Shaherzad in Westwood.
Unless you plan on doing take out, skip Raffi's Place entirely and dine at Shiraz instead. I've been to Shiraz two times in recent weeks and I've been consistently happier there with both the quality of the food and better level of service.
Raffi's Place has lost all the key ingredients to success that once made it so great. Shiraz is now the best kabob place in Glendale, hands down. -
Review from Robert C.
I've been wanting to come here for a long time but I keep on procrastinating. Seeing the big line outside, I try to avoid it every time I pass by. My friends said just to ignore the crowd and come with them.
I was a little hesitant of driving through their parking lot so I drove to the mall parking structure instead. Walking distance was about a block away. And I'm glad I parked there. We entered in the rear side of the restaurant and there were 10 groups waiting to be seated. The restaurant was jammed pack. I yelled at my friend that we had to come in the weekend. I'm being such a grouch. It better be good over here.
After an hour of waiting, we finally to get seated and ordered right away. We ordered tabule and eggplant first for appetizers. The tabule ($6) is mixed with parsley, tomato and bulgur. I didn't know how to start eating it but I just took a bite and it had a tangy taste. The red stuff is called eggplant ($7). I don't know why they named it eggplant in the menu but it doesn't look like one. They should have named it red dip or something similar. It's really good though dipped with chips http://www.yelp.com/bi.... The hummus was on the side and everyone were like vultures with their pita breads.
Now on to the nitty gritty. I got my order of the Koobideh (Luleh Kabob) and it was massive. For $13, I thought it was going to be a tiny serving but my plate was huge. The plate can serve at least 2 people. Quality of the beef was just awesome. They I love how they served it with big portions of basmati rice. Wow. I can't get enough of that. http://www.yelp.com/bi.... My wife had the shish kabob, $19. Their version had big chunks of filet mignon with bell pepper and onions. http://www.yelp.com/bi.... I wasn't too fond of it since I was concentrating on the Koobideh. I took of a bite of it and it wasn't all that. It was really tender but I thought they put too much spices at the time. One of my friends had a rack of lamb kabob ($23) and she told me she has no complaints. That means it's really good to her standards. She's such a harsh critic. After the yummy Luleh Kabob, we ordered chocolate raspberry gelato and vanilla gelato for dessert.
Service was okay. I wasn't expecting it to be super fast since it was packed that night.
I would come here on a weekday when it's not so packed like sardines. The food was excellent. I take back all the bad stuff I said before about parking. They provide valet parking anyway.Listed in: Good Grub, "Oink Oink", Yelptastic!, Hang out spots

I had a date and he took me here. Super busy and crowded on a Saturday night.
We were seated at a tiny table in the middle. Noise factor high.
I don't know about you but the last thing I want to do on a Saturday date is stuff myself with rice and kabob.
The portions were very large. Lots of rice. The kabobs were really good. I will say the food was good in a simple sense.
None of the zoolbis or bamia for desert we were stuffed like two topoli twins we exited.
If you do want desert try the bamia. Which is a pastry with honey. Super sweet.like me. -

Came on a Saturday evening and waited 50 minutes in the cold to get a table. Restaurant does not take reservations unless your party size is 10 or more. The food is good, but I don't think it's worth a 50 minute wait.

Review from Norm K.
I had a show at the Alex Theatre in Glendale so I used Yelp to get advice on a place for dinner at it turned out to be Raffi's Place. I was not disappointed. Even though it was a chilly night, I ate with most guests in their large enclosed patio area with propane heaters. The only thing that detracted was when someone entered or left was the blast of cold air from outside, but it was back to normal within a few moments.
Now to dinner. I had the Soltani Kabob. It was a combination of thinly sliced filet mignon and ground beef kabobs on a huge bed of basmati rice. The meat was very juicy and spiced very well. There's also a shaker of Sumac on the table if you want to add a little interesting spice to your meal. The food comes with a small plate of fresh basil, chopped onion and parsley, two large cubes of fresh white onion and several radishes. There's also a large basket of lavash with which to wrap your kebob and eat plain. The rice was cooked perfectly--each grain a separate piece.
For dessert, I had a small slice of baklava. A perfect ending to a good meal.
This was my first visit to a Persian restaurant and I really enjoyed it. Service was quick and friendly, and I was on my way to the theatre with plenty of time to spare. Free garage parking down the street on Maryland Avenue was a definite plus. -

Best Kabobs in Los Angeles area. Don't miss the beef barg in this restaurant. I brought different people visiting from Iran to this place and they all agreed that you can hardly find barg kabobs as good as this in Iran!
Service is good and prices are reasonable. Cheaper than westwood restaurants and higher quality. -

Have been a frequent visitor at Raffi's for years now. the food and the service is always consistent..
Its a great place to come with a group of people and order family style!
I always order the hummus, shirazi salad and the ground beef and shish kabob.
They give you a side of grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers that compliment the meal! -

Hands down the best kebob i've had. The key to this place is their consistency and service. No matter what day or what time, the food tastes exactly the same as the last time you had it. Other kebob restaurants cut corners on the quality of meats but Raffi's always presents the best.

What a great place!
#1 if your looking feeling like some delicious Armenian food.
Lamb Kabob is always juicy and never over-cooked.
Chicken Kabob is one of my faves.
Barg Kabob (Filet Mignon) is too good to believe.
Its always great to start with the cucumber yogurt w/ Pita bread & lemon grass leaves.
You can't go wrong with any of the above choices. Im not a big fish person, so I havent really tried what they offer.
All dishes comes on a plate of rice thats so big, you will definitely have food to take home for the next day. Great portions for a family to share, or for children to take home for the next day. -

This is the best Middle Eastern cuisine you'll find in Glendale. Their service is excellent, the food is great, and the portions are large enough to take home.
Their ground beef (lula) kebab is excellent, and they have the best marinated chicken breast kebabs as well.
Huge portion of saffron scented rice and they also have the traditional greens (basil, etc.) that come with your meal.
If you're in for a lunch, or dinner, this is the place to come in Glendale. -

Raffi's Place is a great Middle Eastern restaurant. The prices are average and the portions are huge. I usually order their Koubideh plate; it comes with two large pieces of Koubideh, cooked tomato, green bell pepper and a large amount of basmati rice. Their food will definitely fill your appetite. This restaurant has the best Koubideh I've had so far. Valet parking is provided. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Super Friday night getaway :) right near by!!!
You know a place is sooooper good when they fill up Sunday night. I was shocked at all the people here Sunday night.
Apparently this is the place to be. All the food i have ordered on my 3 times being here blows me away. I will for sure make this a top restaurant on my list.
Dessert is also to die for so save room. I know it is hard with such large servings, but you must resist the savory food so that you can top it off with a dessert.

Raffi's is really awesome. It's a beautiful place with a great indoor/outdoor environment.
The food is fantastic and the service is very good as well. It's a really comfortable environment with a nice ambience.
The portions are HUGE! HUGE. Almost too much. However the food is very good. I would say that the chicken items are a bit on the pricy side, nevertheless they are delicious. You could get something quite similar in Glendale and many places for 8$ to 10$ cheaper, it just may not be as good.
The lamb items are totally worth it! And their prices are on par with what you'd pay at any nice restaurant for a similar item. It just happens to taste better here than most of those places!!
Also, I had an incredibly good mojito. I wasn't expecting to, but it was fantastic- very minty and just perfect. If you want excellent Armenian style kebab and other foods, skip the Carousel, come to Raffi's. There's absolutely NO comparison! -

By far, my favorite restaurant and deserves at least 10 stars. The food is amazing. I have had Persian food all over LA and believe it or not its even better than the Persian food i have had in Iran. I usually like concise reviews so if the previous statement isn't enough then I don't know what to tell you. Stop reading more reviews and just go here already! Order the Soltani Kabob. It comes with Luleh Kabob and Barg. Both are sensational. Too bad this place is an hour away otherwise i would go here once a week.
