This hotel is no longer the Radisson- it's now called the Wyndham Garden Hotel.  It's still a reasonably-priced (budget) hotel.  You get what you pay for.

My stay here wasn't bad at all.  The rooms were comfortable and nice.  The sleep number beds were a fun perk.  Room service was nice.  Also, turns out the people who said this hotel was in the "rough part of town" have never actually been to a rough town.  The area was nice, quiet, and clean.  It was close to the Wickendon Street shops that I very much enjoyed.

My only caveat is that the highway can get pretty noisy and doesn't make for a spectacular view... And they charge you $20/night extra for a room facing the water... Which still isn't spectacular.

Still, my experience was a good one.  And I'll stay here again if I ever need another room in Providence.

This is no longer a Raddison it is a Wyndham Garden Inn. Wyndham should have left it a Radisson. Not a bad hotel but not befitting the Wyndham name.  I would guess that this has recently been bought by Wyndham.  I called and indicated that I was a vacation club owner and then had to inform them what perks that meant I got.  The noise level was high but not the fault of the staff there were several conventions in town and lots of kids.  The area of the hotel is not one that I would venture out at night in.

Pretty decent hotel.  I received a really good rate via Priceline.  The hotel was clean.  It was located right off the highway which was quite convenient; however, I definitely heard some traffic throughout the evening....but I still slept fine in the very comfortable bed.  I also walked down to Wickenden Street (about a 10 minute walk) where there were a bunch of restaurants, bars and other small shops....definitely nice to have somewhere nearby to walk to so you are not forced to used the hotel dining room (which I cannot comment on since I didn't try the food).  I was on the highway side of the hotel with a nice view of some dumpsters....I hear you can request the opposite side of the hotel where you can see the water.

Overall, staff was friendly enough and was able to give me directions and restaurant suggestions.  No complaints.

I only stayed for one night, but I would consider staying again at the right price.

This hotel is now called "Wyndham Garden Hotel". We were referred by Brown because they have a "friends and family" rate.  We reserved a "city view room" which is quite noisy.  The AC is also very noisy.  They have the very thoughtful "sleep number" beds.  But one of them was not working.  The area does not make me feel safe.  You are confined inside the hotel unless you have a car.  The room is also small.  Although we had a good deal through Brown, but I think this hotel only worths less than $100. The front desk was not particularly helpful, but not rude.  I feel this is more like a motel location.  Don't be fooled by the photo, you won't see that from where you enter. The adjacent building is an abandoned brick factory- looking building.  Not very happy about this, won't stay again for sure.

I had been to Providence before and I wanted something a little closer to the city.  I decided to mix it up and not stay at an extended stay.  There's something to be said about sticking with what you know.

http://Hotels.com had an aggregate rating of 3 stars for this place and it looks like Yelp had 3 stars overall for this place.  They both screwed me on that one.  The hotel itself is located right off the Interstate.  The view wasn't all that great from either side, although I'm sure you get less noise on the water side.  The location is also pretty close to a rough area of town and there are no restaurants within walking distance.  That leaves the hotel restaurant the ability to charge the ridiculous prices that they do.

Checking in was not a problem.  The hallways smell like a hospital ICU, not necessarily a good thing.  The rooms are on the small side and were relatively clean.  The only truly great thing about the room was the sleep number bed.

Now for the truly bad.  As others have mentioned, the rooms have paper thin walls.  This means that you can hear everything going on in the room next to you...everything.  I may have been put next to two women that I can only speculate were prostitutes.  Different male voices every half an hour or so, exchange of money, and noises of a reproductive variety.  There was a lot of repetition of the words: yes, God, and Jesus.  I'll let you form your own conclusions on that one.  With regard to that, do not stay here if you have an important meeting the next day.  Also, I would avoid this place if you are looking for something family friendly.

Solid budget hotel, only completed a few years ago so overall the rooms, lobby and hallways are still somewhat new and in decent shape.

Downtown Providence would be a 2 mile or so walk, or a quick five minute drive, so the location is fine for any city or college events. The Wickenden Street area is nearby for restaurants, shopping, etc.

Rooms in the rear facing I-195 are noisy, the front-facing rooms with their nice view of the park and harbor are much better.

During days of good weather, the large front deck, intended for a small outdoor bar that did not prove feasible for business, is great for sitting at a table and enjoying the fresh air and the view of India Point Park. You can take drinks from the bar inside out there, or bring your own.

Sleep number beds in the rooms are excellent, the staff has always been friendly to me (except once when a snotty front desk clerk called my room and asked who assigned that room to me, um, your front desk colleague, and don't ever take that questioning tone with a customer when your operation has faulty intenral communications, novice) and parking and lot access is very good.

I was put up at this hotel by Brown University since I was in town speaking on campus. I definitely would not have chosen it based on reading Yelp reviews, which, of course, I always do before traveling.

Problem number one: No airport shuttle. Really? A large hotel like the Radisson, and no airport shuttle? Not just no free one. I even asked if I could pay to have their regular train station shuttle take me there...no dice.

Then, when checking in, the night time desk clerk seemed...not rude per se, but a bit...short? After traveling for 7 hours, I wanted nice, not snarky.

My room is ok. However, while the whole hotel is non-smoking, you can definitely tell (not just from the lack of signage on my door) that my room used to be a smoking room. I smelled it walking in, and have been double dosing on allergy meds. Luckily, I'm only here two nights.

The restaurant isn't open for lunch, and is super over priced (to be expected) and not so veggie friendly. I just ordered in pizza the first night, and ate in town on the second.

Cabs to Brown are only around $6, but there is a $10 credit card min. Note this.

Sleep number bed was ok, nothing special.  My ice bucket was broken, but worked.  No closet -- hanger bar in the dresser/chest thingy.  One of the two lights were broken.

All in all, meh. For $90 a night, I probably could have gotten better. I wouldn't stay here again if I could help it.

I was quite happy with this hotel!

My story:  I was going to a wedding at one  of the fancy hotels downtown.  Being a cheap-ass, I chose to find the cheapest nearby place, rather than stay there.  I got this place for $52 on Hotwire.  (Hotwire doesn't tell you which hotel you're getting, but I used my powers of deduction to figure out it was this one.). Even though reviews here and on Trip Advisor were mediocre, I did it anyway, because it was only one night and, as previously established, I'm a cheap-ass.  This was an excellent decision on my part.

I called ahead (2 days) to request an early check-in, and a room facing the water.  I would completely have understood if they told me that since I paid a discount price, I was a low priority customer in terms of requests like that, but they came through happily on both requests.

I suspect that some of the negative reviews here came before some changes were made at the hotel.  The whole hotel is non-smoking, the heat/ac looked new and was quiet.  It was perfectly clean.  Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I'm sure if you face the highway, it gets a bit loud, so call ahead and request a room facing the water.  (The main Radisson number couldn't do this; call this hotel directly.)

Most everyone has said what I will say.
I also got this hotel on Hotwire, for I think $79.  My mom and I were only in Providence for the night, but it seemed to be convenient to many things (if you're driving) food, Brown, shopping, the highway for a quick getaway.  If you're not driving there is NOTHING by you.  We had a room with views of the water and didn't notice traffic at all.  There is still a lot of construction though, and it's kind of confusing to find out how to get to the hotel (there are detours and mapquest is not right).
The room was clean, comfortable beds and good bedding, free wifi, covered parking.  We didn't try out the restaurant because it was completely dead and we would rather venture out into the city than eat in a hotel.
I'm giving it 4 stars because it was our most comfortable hotel for the week and would definitely stay there again.

This hotel was very nice.  Clean and updated.   Definitely think we overpaid for the room but think it was because of the busy weekend.

We stayed here to see the waterfires.  All the other hotels were sold out, but this one was definitely too far to walk.  They offered a shuttle service to downtown, but when we asked at the front desk about walking to the waterfires they suggested not and said the shuttle would be there every 10-15 minutes.  Well an HOUR later- the shuttle finally shows up.  I understand that downtown was mobbed with the waterfires, but the front desk should know that.  Took a cab home as the shuttle stopped at 11pm.

Waterfires were overrated and too crowded- not that it has much to do with the hotel.  Hotel was nice, but location wasn't ideal.

My friend and I stayed here in May for a night with a good deal from http://Priceline.com. The accommodations were comfortable (I'd say it's one step up from staying at a Comfort Inn) and the room was ok overall. They had sleep-number beds, which was a first for me to see in a hotel, but the instructions on how to use it were confusing. We had a really lovely view of the harbor from our window.

The location is the only big bummer about it- taxi fare from the Amtrak station was a little under $20. While the hotel does have a $5 shuttle that takes you to the nicer parts of their downtown area, it would be nice if the hotel provided a airport/train station pick-up. I think it's over 2 miles to walk to the downtown area and you have to walk through a dimly lit construction area and underpass that's right next to the hotel. If I had to stay in Providence again, I'd be more willing to pay extra at the other chain hotels for a better location.

Yeah, we got this hotel on Priceline.  When arriving, I was nervous - seeing that it's just one step too far from walking distance around downtown Providence.  But all in all, this place was not bad.

The best point for us was that they have a shuttle that costs $5 a day, and he takes you wherever you want, and picks you up.  You can't beat that, and neither could the cab prices.  Tip him nice if you're drinking, he puts up with a lot.

The rooms were large.  I do recommend requesting a harbor view.  We didn't, and the street noise was loud at times.  But the room was comfortable, and so was the sleep number bed.

If you're going to be staying in Providence for a while, save some money and stay here.  If you're going for the night, spend a little money, and stay downtown.

I picked the Radisson because (a) it was cheap and (b) it had free internet and free parking. The wireless in the room is really easy to use and seems to come in pretty good.

There was no bellboy to help with the luggage. My room has a nice view of the highway. The hotel lobby just seems functional and isn't really anything special. (In fact, the pictures on the website are nothing like the hotel in person.)

The room is clean. The sleep number bed is comfortable, although the amount they try and sell it to you is kind of creepy. There is HBO and PBS in the room.

I got this hotel for $60/night on Hotwire. It's listed as a 3-star, but I don't think it deserves that rating. It's kind of a pit.

    The bad:

It's *on top* of the freeway, so unless you somehow get a "harbor view" room, you will hear the noise of trucks and loud cars all night long. Luckily you can rig the fan on the A/C unit to stay on continuously. I found someone else's shaving hair in my sink, and the toilet has some sort of mold growing in it. The walls are kind of thin, but the noise of the freeway does drown out any of your neighbor's "activities".

    The good:

It's convenient to I95 (duh), and the Fox Point neighborhood which has a number of decent little restaurants and stores. I enjoyed sushi and pizza which I will be reviewing shortly. The free wireless is decent and quite fast. I could take or leave the "Sleep Number" bed. I woke up sore, so maybe I need to adjust my "number". Gimmicky.

Don't pay full price for this hotel. Get it on Hotwire for $60. That's about all it's worth.

First of all, you have to think its Radisson. So don't expect bellhops, great room service, i.e. the works.
Okay here is my view on this hotel. I was okay - a decent place with a very affordable price. Non-smoking rooms were actually non-smoking rooms. Bathroom had the expected amenities and clean. Some of the rooms didn't have any closet so that made it only three stars. And the location is quite deceiving because when you think about "harbor front" I don't know about you, but you come from Southern California like me it means nice view with nice surroundings. Well yes it had a view but the neighborhood was sketchy. There are abandon warehouses and if there are working one, let's just say it's not comfortable.

Secondly, it's a bit of a drive to the city so for those of you who are counting on their shuttle service, which by the way is $5 just in case you were wondering if it's complimentary. The money you might be saving from the hotel room stay will be better put to an investment to stay at a more convenient and safe location. For out-of-towners like me, TAKE THIS ADVICE you are better off paying an extra 30 - 40 dollars to stay in a better hotel in the city if you don't have any cars when going to the city. The airport shuttle drops you off these major hotels in downtown for a much lower price. And if you stay here you have to pay for a taxi that might run you up to $30 - see where I am getting at?!?

If you are driving I can maybe understand why you want to stay here because it's right off the free way with free parking, so I guess it's your own judgment call.

The only good thing about this place is the staff is very friendly and accommodating. For that I gave them an extra star.

Lastly, I just wish some had told me all about this before I got there so anyone who wants to benefit from this, my experience will be worth the trip.

I'm a goldpoints member and this was a pit-stop on my way to more free stays with Radisson. I had a double room facing the Harbor. The sleep number beds combined with the kicking A/C and black out curtains, made for some rocking sleep while I was in Providence! It was 4th of July weekend and the park across the street was all decked out for the occasion hosting numerous events. Hotel is walking distance to Hope St. and Wickenden where there are a number of good locally owned restaurants a few of which are BYOB. Shuttle gets you Downtown to club district but be sure to plan on cabbing it back as they stop shuttle at 11:00pm. Overall not bad price for location easy access to I-195 for the wedding I was attending in Mass. Only sour point was there was no fridge in room but I was prepared with a small cooler we brought up for the road-trip from DC!

The hotel was a little hard to find, as it seemed to be in an industrial part of town, and we were driving around after dark. It is very close to the highway, so we could hear the noise from the cars and trucks in our room. Other than that, no complaints for this inexpensive hotel.

There are definitely no 5-star hotels in Providence, since I have stayed at almost all the 3 star and up ranked places.
The Radisson warrants a mixed review from me, because I was expecting a seedy hotel but didn't get something quite as crappy. According to my personal hotel judging criteria, the room was very nice. The sleep-number bed was very comfortable, and the sheets and comforter were snow white and soft as a cloud, The counter tops of everything and the bathroom were extremely clean, Little things got my attention and down rated my opinion of this hotel. There were no bellboys and no valet.
There were tears in the carpeting, and footprints on the wall that led to a loose ceiling tile that made me think someone took the ceiling as an exit. The color schemes were not at all tasteful, but instead industrial and tacky. The free internet and good selection of cable TV were a plus. The small room-service menu, low staffed front desk, and lonely restaurant were a negative. I didn't like the location at all (at the bottom of a hill with nothing useful around and in a construction zone). Stay here if you need to be in Providence but would like somewhere cheaper, but don't expect a resort-style retreat.
Oh, transportation for you around Providence will be cheaper at the Radisson because there is free shuttle service that runs like a taxi (i.e. goes wherever you want with a small tip)

EDIT: On my second visit to this place, I noticed that the room I stayed in with a lovely view of traffic seemed renovated. The wallpaper had been redone, and I give thumbs up to that.

If you don't care about comfortable beds, desert dry air, paper thin walls , a room that smells like stale Febreeze and cigarettes, and loud a/c units you should stay here.  This place was awful, a Super 8 would have been better.  I've stayed in far cheaper hotels much more comfortably.  It was terrible.  I will never ever stay again.  Next time I need to be in a hotel in Providence, I will stay at a bed and breakfast or suck it up and pay a higher price for the Westin, Marriott or something...

Hotel's are hard to come by in Providence and finding something close to the Convention Center that is in the economy range turned out to be impossible so we tried the Radisson which is in the Fox Point neighborhood a couple of miles from the CC. The Radisson doesn't provide airport shuttle service so we took a taxi. They do provide shuttle service to the Convention Center, Amtrak, and several of the downtown hotels for $5. per day. We used this a few times but found the walk through the many historic neighborhoods on the East side wonderful and  walked most of the time. The Wickenden Street retail area is very close and we often went there for dinner. The India Point Park just across the street is very nice and a good place to have picnic dinners. The hotel is clean. The staff was courteous. We didn't have any of our meals onsite so can't give any recommendations on the restaurant.
