At the regular prices, this is one expensive hotel. BUT, we got ourselves a pretty good discount and all of a sudden it's looking like a much better deal.
The room is a good size and the bed is HUGE. I haven't really realized this before, but a king sized bed is just unnecessary. Sleeping alone, too big. Sleeping with a partner/friend, too big. Having a slumber party with 10 of your close friends, still too big! BUT, it does let you adjust the firmness on both the left and right side, and since I like really hard beds, that's pretty awesome!
The bathroom is less impressive. Very bare-bones. Plain white. Doesn't fit the bed at all. The room itself is very large, but for some reason the tv and the table are on the smaller side. As always, the $35 per night parking rate is atrocious...
We stayed here a few weeks ago when in town for a Red Sox game, and it was a pretty good time. The location was really convenient to everything downtown. We walked over to Boston Common and jumped on the T to go over to Harvard for the day and to get over to Fenway.
Rooms were pretty nice - they have Sleep Number beds which were kind of cool. Everything was clean, except the pool. It was gross...a nice film on top of the water. We ordered room service one night and the food was really good.
I would stay here again.
I stayed at the Radisson recently after a networking reception for work and loved it. Great location close to everything. We checked in late at the front desk and the staff was curteous and kind considering they had to deal with 2 semi drunk chicks. The room service had closed for the evening but the woman behind the desk was kind enough to hand us a couple of menus to have some food delivered.
Our room was on the 18th floor and the view was fantastic!!! You could see the entire city and the Prudential Center was right outside our door. They have new sleep number beds in all the rooms. My friend and I had a hard time figuring out how to get them just right, but no complaints overall.
The room smelled nice and clean...not that typical hotel room smell. The bathroom was nice. Crisp, clean and roomy. I loved the updated fixtures and the tub was huge considering it was your standard hotel bathtub. It featured a curved shower curtain rod so it made it feel even bigger while in the shower. Plenty of nice clean towels. The water was HOT just the way I like it, and the toiletries they provide were very decent for something out of a hotel.
The beds were comfy. The sheets were clean. The hallways were nice and quiet and I slept well. They have some decent amenities...however we were not lucky enough to check them out. There was a pool and fitness center and a restaurant, and the Stuart Street Playhouse is also located right in the lobby.
If I had to make any complaints at all, this is what they would be...
We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room. $12 for eggs, toast, homefries and bacon that were just ok. I am not a huge breakfast person. What they dont tell you is that they tack on service fees, delivery fees, taxes etc. onto the total, so upon checking out, I had to pay $39 for a breakfast that frankly wasnt that great. The other complaint would be the $34 charge for parking. They should offer a reduced rate for hotel guests.
Overall a great experience.
Would I reccomend to others? Yes.
Would I stay again? Yes
Would I do room service again? Probably not.
Rooms run about $200/night...but if you go on Hotwire, you might be able to get a room for around $80!!
I wouldn't pay $215. I wouldn't pay $189. I might pay $120, but I didn't.
I was pretty darn happy with this hotel. The bathrooms were basic, but kinda pretty. The coffee set up was convenient, the closet was huge. The linens were comfy (most hotel detergents make me itch). The little balcony would have been fun with a drink and a friend. The business center was basic, but perfectly functional. The location was great and I'd stay here again if I was visiting Boston. Don't be put off by the dated concrete exterior.
My favorite part: the concierge, front desk staff and doorman were efficient and friendly and helpful.
It's not a 5-star steal because the free "high-speed" broadband was more medium-speed, I would have liked a fridge, the parking was convenient but not quite worth the $34, and the pool was closed. I didn't have time to explore the fitness center.
I stayed here for many weeks. It was my home away from home and I enjoyed it. The bathroom is nice and the hot water was burning good. Maid service was quick, prompt, and friendly. One lady was so nice that she hooked me up with an extra blanket because I was actually nice back to her. The staff in the lobby was very attentive and accommodating. The bell hop and I had very friendly conversations about sports and Boston accents. Everybody helped out when I had questions about what to do and where to go in Boston. I had an emergency one time and their guest printer wasn't working so the receptionist helped me out with my work at three in the morning. They made my long stay in Boston a nice one.
Decided to tack on a night in Boston when we flew back east for a wedding in RI (since we were flying in and out of Logan), but didn't want to pay a ton. Enter Priceline...thanks to them we scored a room at the Radisson for $120 (for a Sunday night). The location was fantastic! We could walk everywhere...super close to Boston Common, Beacon Hill, Newberry/Bolyston/Beacon, etc... We even walked back to the hotel from Fenway after catching the Sox-Yankees game.
Rooms were clean, the linens were nice and the sleep number beds were a cool novelty. I don't think I would ever own one, but JP and I enjoyed finding "our numbers!" The business center in the lobby provides guests with two computers with internet access and a printer if you are traveling without your laptop.
Parking is on the expensive side, but it's Boston. $31 for self-park (you have in and out privileges), $33 for valet.
Again, for the price and location, this was a score!
Stayed here over President's Day weekend, and all in all it was a pretty good place. Nothing too fancy, but spacious and pretty clean. Our room had a great view of Boston, and we were a 5 minute walk from Boston Common. 10 min to the Subway station. Restaurants in the area were pretty touristy- PF Changs, Dunkin, mostly chains. And the hotel is on a busy street, so it doesn't exactly provide the "ye olde english" vibe. But if you're just looking for a clean place to rest your head, and you find a good price online...give it a shot. Only warning: second night there my boyfriend and I did see a prostitute waiting outside a door. Apparently the guy had changed his mind, because she stood there for so long we were able to tell that she was more than likely a he. Anyway- you were warned.
I loved:
- The stunning view of the Boston skyline from our 20th floor room.
- The sleep number bed - you can adjust for firmness, and each side of the bed can have a different setting.
- Convenient location just a block from Boston Common and the Public Gardens, and a short walk to the Boylston and Chinatown T stops.
- The little foldable map that came with our room key - so compact it can fit in your wallet.
We paid $189/night last weekend, a special wedding block rate.
Our main factor in choosing the Radisson for our Boston trip was price: at about $215 a night, it was much more affordable than the other well-known hotels, and still put us in a central location to most destinations. Our suite was newly redecorated, and its modern design & furnishings were very different from the rather drab rooms shown on the website. Two plasma TV's allowed me to catch several fourth quarters during the NBA playoffs while allowing my wife to catch up on her HGTV.
I can't say I'm a big fan of the sleep number bed. It's a far cry from the Heavenly beds at the Westin. Other than that, the room was well-appointed. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants save for room service from the theater cafe one night (the french toast was quite good).
If you do choose to stay here, try to catch Blue Man group at the nearby Charles Theater.
The best Radisson I've ever stayed at.
Ask for a high floor and you will be given a view of the downtown area and surrounding scenery of Boston. Rooms are updated with Sleep #beds and enough pillows to cushion a whole family. Service is friendly and the location of this hotel is in the middle of everything. Close to the theater district, Chinatown, and public transportation. If you can get a good room rate, its pretty much perfect.
If they got rid of the Sleep Numbers then this Radisson would be a five star joint. It's almost half of what other Boston hotels are, it's clean, the staff is friendly, the pay per porn is uncut and it's in a great central location. My only gripe is like I say the Sleep Numbers. I got used to used to it but still. Their in-house restaurant is mediocre but there are plenty of great places in "Erah! Erah!" town to grab a meal.
The outside of this hotel is not very impressive. It seems a bit boring and old but inside was very nice. I don't have a lot of concerns when staying at a hotel because I only use it to sleep. My main concern for a hotel is cleaniness and I found this hotel to be very clean. As for customer service, the bellboys are very friendly. They always helped me with my bags and getting me a cab when needed. I didn't like the girl in the front desk though. I asked for early check-in when I arrive, but I knew I was pushing it because it was 7am. When she said no, I was fine and told her I would check my bags and be back around noon. When I got back around noon, I asked if there was any open rooms for check-in (regular check-in time is 3pm). Again she said no, so I told her I would sit in the lobby and wait. The lobby is not that big where she cannot see me. I sat down to wait for about 1/2 hour but she did not say anything to me. Finally I saw 3 different groups of people check-in, so I went up to her and checked in myself. I was really upset though she did not call me when there was a room available and I sat there and waited the whole time. If I didn't see anyone check-in, I would be there forever because she won't call me up. Anyhow, as for location it's a great location. I walked to Copley Square, Boston Common, Public Gardens, Quincy Market, Chinatown, and there are a lot of restaurants around to get a quick bite. I would stay at this hotel again.
Oh and a minor problem, when the room upstairs took a shower there was a leak from the vent in teh bathroom. I just threw a towel on the floor to take care of it.
My parents stayed here when they came to visit last year. They had found a cheap rate on http://hotwire.com and somehow the hotel had messed up the reservation. They were upgraded to a suite with great view of the city from the top floor. I'd definitely recommend it.
This is an excellent hotel. I got a GREAT room for like $180 or something like that, when I went to see a play in the theater district. Location is perfect-- right near everything. It's so easy to walk down the street to a restaurant/pub or walk to a play or to Boston common. Highly recommended.
