great location! in the heart of manhattan just steps away from everything - times sq, central park, 5th ave, rockafeller, theatre district, subways, etc. can't beat the price for a apartment-like place w/ a kitchen. the only cons i have about this place is the air ventilation (it's either hot or cold, rarely in the middle), and the terrible wi-fi connection.
This place was perfect for my trip!
It's walking distance to everything I wanted to see. Times square is around the corner, Fifth ave is two short blocks away. NBC studios
are across the street. Very good food all around.
I had a blast. So glad I stayed at RCA my first time in NYC.
The apartment was comfy. We had a unit on the 12th floor and
were very happy. The window air conditioner wasnt sufficient all the time as the person who's bed was next to it froze but the other occupant was too warm. The kichen was very handy.
The water pressure was crummy but I didnt mind.
I will be going back. It's a fantastic place.

In the Spring of 2006, the rates for this hotel are actually cheaper than in GG's review -- a studio is going for $109 a night. For the price and the location, this hotel can not be beat! Throw in the kitchenette, fairly large room sizes (especially compared to the closet size rooms most hotels near by have) and you have a true gem in midtown NYC.
Now, nothing in this hotel is designer -- its not even retro really. There is no room service, turn down service, feather beds or organic soap. But the room was very clean and quiet. And really, if you are in NYC, you should be out and spending time in the city, not hanging in your room and watching TV!!
Just one minor issue I did have -- my flight into NYC was a red eye and got in at 7:30am. Often you can call the hotel you are going to check into that night and see if a room happens to be available earlier. On the phone, the front desk guys at his hotel were very rude and unhelpful. Now, I know the posted checkin time is later in the day, and I'm not complaining that they could not accommodate me. It was simply the attitude and tone of voice of the front desk staff when on the telephone was very poor. Despite this minor issue, I can easily look past this and will happily stay here again (especially when not on a corporate expense account ;) ).
Finally -- this hotel does not offer free WIFI. They have a service you can pay about 10 bucks for. However, I was able to find multiple open free access points to use instead.

Cheap (for NYC), clean, small rooms, about a block from Times Square, need to book well in advance to get a room.
It's right in Mid-town near Times Sq. It's not expensive, it's clean, the front desk is friendly and the rooms have private bathrooms. The rooms are small, but are fine for a night or 2. If your planning on staying a for more than a few days you it might be too small.
Check-out time is at 11.00am (I wish they told us that when we checked in) and they do start ringing the phone & the doorbell at the same time to get you up and out. I actually thought it was funny that they did that!
We had a double room, not a studio. It had 2 double beds, a TV, a small fridge, microwave, & coffee maker w/ coffee (bring your own milk or cream). The bathroom was small, but very clean, and the bath is big enough to have a comfortable shower. The tile in the bathroom almost looked like fancy Italian tile.
All-in-all not a bad place, just remember you won't get to sleep-in past 11am on the day you check out! ;)
I cannot rave about this property enough. Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan's theater district, just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Broadway and Times Square, this is a sensible alternative to the high-priced hotels that surround it. Unless you require room service or a chocolate left on your turned-down bed at night, there is no reason to pay hefty rates for a small room when you can luxuriate in lots of space for half the price here. Completely renovated from top to bottom, accommodations fall into three categories: studio apartments with one double or two twin size beds, for up to two guests; one-bedroom apartments for up to four guests; and two-bedroom apartments, which sleep a maximum of five. All units have fully-equipped kitchenettes with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker (with coffee), dinnerware and utensils, cookware, and stove. One and two-bedrooms have large living rooms with a full-sized sofa bed. Bathrooms are marble, with the best water pressure I've ever found in a New York City property. All units have color cable TV (multiple sets in the larger ones), direct dial telephones, wireless high-speed Internet access, iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. Double-paned windows eliminate most of the outside noise, so even units on low floors facing the street tend to be relatively quiet. Maid service is provided on a daily basis. There is a laundry facility on the premises, which makes minimum packing for long stays a viable option. The front desk is manned 24 hours, and bus, subway and sightseeing maps are offered free of charge. Rates are shockingly low - in Summer 2005, studios are renting for $119, one-bedrooms for $155, and two-bedrooms for $235. This is possibly the best travel bargain anywhere.
