I love this local bar. Its situated in a very random residential area. I wouldn't expect to see any people other than locals here.
The drinks are reasonably priced (Queens prices, much better than the city) and the food here is great. It has a full menu with great greek food and buffalo wings. The owners and bartenders here are very friendly. The layout is perfect with a lot of TVs with sports on, and a few couches mixed in with tables and seats. The bar itself is quite long and they have a jukebox with the latest songs available. Very chill friendly atmosphere.
Highly recommended to come check this place out if you're around the area. And I heard they'll be showing the Manny-Cotto fight this Saturday. If they show all the big fights during the year, I may have found a usual spot to be at on Saturdays.
Radio Bar & Grill is actually a pretty cool spot, if you live around the area. It's your typical sports bar with large flat screen TV's all over. (I think there are six of them). There are tables and high chairs in the middle with lounging area on the side. There's a juke box at the end of the bar so music is constantly jamming.
It's a bar and grill so there's a full service kitchen. I only had drinks there, which was pretty reasonably priced, but by my friend's accord, the food is pretty good. The service is excellent. The bartender bought me and my buddies a round of shot and made sure he greeted us as we were leaving. If you live around the area, go check it out.
They had excellent timing opening up during the World Series. I stopped in several times and every night was nearly packed. That's impressive considering the location--a fantastic improvement on the previous establishment, Benvenuti.
The service has been excellent, drinks reasonably priced, and every seat in the house is a good one for the game. They seem to be having a bit of an identity crisis at the moment, lost somewhere between a lounge and sports bar, but most certainly with time, this will get fleshed out.
I had the burger the only time I ate there and LOVED IT. I was a little turned off that a burger (this far off the beaten path) was $10, but when it arrived, I understood. You get unlimited toppings on a chunk of very well-seasoned ground beef that must be a half-pound. I was hungry and could barely finish it. Great fries, too.
I hope to see them take some lessons from Dillingers with affordable nightly promotions and a solid happy hour. As long as prices stay low and the quality high, this place will be a new mainstay in "East Astoria".
I was totally surprised to find this place while looking for parking for Dillinger's wing night. Its in a nice, residential area, and the inside is really well done. I think it is under new management (one of the locals said it used to be a restaurant) - and they're doing a nice job.
The bartenders are really friendly, mostly young girls who take the time to learn your name and remember your drink. And the food is really good - not a lot on the menu (mostly bar-food stuff, chicken fingers, club sandwich) but they do a really good job - and the burger is awesome!
I definitely recommend giving it a shot.
