i came here today for a corporate meeting. so il'l break this review down in to several parts.
1. Meeting facility. We were in a meeting room upstairs. Met for about 4 hours. The only problem I had was once people started racing downstairs, it was kind of hard to hear. The facility served lunch, and the sandwiches were good. I liked coming here for a meeting because I got a chance to talk some smack with my colleagues before we started racing.
2. team building. Once we got done with our meeting we got checked in and put on our race suits. The locker room was clean and they had lockers that locked for free. One tip, go without pants when you put on the race gear. It gets really hot out on the track and you could use less layers of clothes.
Once we got all set we did a team building drill. We broke into teams and got to do a practice pit stop on a Nascar. 1 person was the driver, jumped in the front seat and threw on the restraints. The next Person jacked up the car while 2 others changed the tires on the car. I don't know how much closer I got to my coworkers, but it was a lot of fun.
Racing. The fun really starts. We got to run 2 20 lap heats, then the top drivers ran a 15 lap final. These karts go pretty fast, but it's hard to pass on this course. I really like after it was all done we got print outs with our lap times. Fun to compare yourself to the other drivers. All in all this was a great day out of the office.
RPM as it is also known as is pretty nice, I also like the sock that you have to wear under the helmet, we had four colors we could choose from, the facilities are amazing, and the staff seemed really nice. There was this 1 year membership fee that you had to pay before you can race, is 10.00 but its valid for a year and the head sock which is usually 4 or 5 bucks is included in it, don't leave it at home, they don't want you spreadin your lice around in their helmets... To be fair I doubt a head sock would be much help.... The locker room is clean, definately better pee BEFORE you race... I know endurance pro drivers pee in a race... they frown on that here. The lockers can lock so you can keep your clothes in there while you race.
Any case, both smaller courses are fun but when I was going to Davis I would try to go on Monday's for their Red bull track, that's when they combine the two courses into one, that is also when alot of really good people come out so, um I get passed... alot..... Curse blue flag!!!!
On one occasion I did have an issue with my cart engine misfiring, they just swapped me into a new one and got me back out, granted it affected my lap times but I still got a few runs in. I like the print out with the times especially in a party, hell they even went and put in a winner's podium which you can do all the victory poses you want and while you stand victorious, you mock the friends you beat! And of course photographers (your friends) can be present to capture the moment you decided to make an ass out of yourself as employees and other on lookers stare at you in stunned utter embarrassment and silence...
Just make sure you don't use that bottle of Pepsi as champagne and spray people around you with that. They kinda frown upon that behavior there and I am pretty sure that is one way to lose that membership... It's not written anywhere I'm just inferring....
We started Eric's Bachelor Party at RPM (Race Place Motorsports)!
$43.00 (per person) for the DP Outlaw Sprint (40 Laps), head sock, rental gear, safety video presentation, "NEED FOR SPEED" therapy, and great moments on the track with your crew!

this place was pretty nice for my first time. ive been to various karting places in california, (dromo1, lemans, gokart racer in burlingame) but this place was very impressive. everything was quite clean and everything looked very nice. the karts were powerful and fast and the track layout was pretty nice (very similar to supertrack at gokart racer).
my only real complaint was about the attitude of the girl who gave us race suits. unlike other places ive been to, this was the only place that does not issue you a racing suit until your heat is called out. this was our first time here for our group of 6 people, and after an 8 hour drive through snow, rain, and traffic from north tahoe (yes it took us 8 hours from tahoe to sac) we were pretty tired as is. we asked the girl for suits after we got our ticket, we thought it would be good to get ready and dressed before we even have to go in. but no....she stared at us, gave us an expression like we just farted in her face and gave us a response as if we asked her what was 1+1. other than that, the rest of the employees were quite friendly and helpful. i would go back again if it wasnt so far.
I love this place. Not many people tend to take a risk at their wallets when it comes down to RPM.
RPM, is your speed junkie resort. Now, it aint no laguna seca where you spend at least 300$+ to go around a big track, but, it is a cheap thrill starting at about 24$ for hotlaps. Hotlaps is just basically 10min max around a track in none other than, a go-kart.
This is not your normal go-kart though. These are supposedly "high preformance vehicles" and they can go as fast as 45~48mph. Though it may not sound fast, it is pretty quick out there on the track.
RPM also does OUTLAW SPRINTS (30+ laps, as stated in the previous review about 42$), and Grand Prixs (65+ laps about 60$).
Mondays combines both tracks, this is the RED BULL TRACK. Anyother day are the DR. PEPPER TRACK (the one with a straightaway and hairpin), and the NO FEAR TRACK (very technical with a couple of turns.)
Open on holidays I presume, and it really get's busy at night. The website has COUPONS as well!!! Some coupons that they offered were Buy 2 hotlaps get 1 free, and even special ones such as in June for Fathers day, dads can race 1 hotlap session for free.
RACE ON!!!
Oh and by the way, this place is so addicting, you might eventually have no money at all.

Well, Ya gotta go once to check it out. If you have never raced karts before, this is a good place to learn. Briefings, training and the whole setup is geared for the beginner. There are 3 tracks to chose from depending on which day of the week you go. They do corporate events pretty well and it's really a good team building environment. The bad news is that if you ever go race elsewhere and then come back here or you race here multiple times, you really start seeing the shortcomings of this place. It is really not designed for a competitive driver. Tracks are not large enough to really allow passing. They are very narrow for the most part especially corners. Running races with 10 cars is to many. To many bottlenecks and wipeouts clogging up the track corners. Track officials (kids) are overly aggressive in penalizing any type of car to car contact which is inevitable in such tight circumstances. The facility can get extremely
hot during the summer months. You'll roast in your race suit. Like I said, it's a nice place to visit once or twice, or if you're a driver who just likes to put put around the course. If you are a highly competetive or agressive driver then there are better places.
