Happy Half Birthday Treat!!!
Not many eclubs for places will give u an extra something special for your happy HALF birthday, so i was excited to see a whole $20 e-mail certificate from them!
Inside the Del Amo Mall right below the AMC theatres, on peak shopping days this place gets pretty packed. I was happy to hear that i could combine my voucher with happy hour prices.
HAPPY HOUR HOURS: MON-SAT 3-7PM
We sat in the bar area and service was excellent (which i sometimes find lacking at other places by the bar). I have a weakness for tatted up servers/bartenders/chefs- take that as useful or useless!!!
Shared:
Pineapple and cream cheese wontons. Tasty! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I would say this is very similiar in prices and quality as Kabuki+ some tattsListed in: South bay eats, Coupons make me happy.

I give everyone a second chance, but in this occasion I should have stuck to my gut feeling. The food is tasty at best given it is a spin-off of the very popular Benihana Chain. Most of their food has been prepped and is a far cry from authentic Sushi (not a purest, I just know what I like).
Our waitress was more than attentive, but when it came down to a small discrepancy on our bill I found the manager on duty "Will" less than attentive and a bit ill-mannered. Sad, because I want what everyone should expect "Superior Customer Service" and a meal that leaves you desiring to come back for more. -

Mediocre at best. Ordered the Chirashi Bowl and the Jalapeño yellowtail appetizer. Not the best quality sushi I've had. The ponzu sauce was really thick and a bit too sweet. The Chirashi comes with all the ingredients except the rice completely diced which was a bit of a turn off in itself. Of to mention how it makes it even more difficult to eat with chop sticks.
Oh yes, almost forgot the best part, a long strand of hair stuck to our soy sauce bottle. No, it was not mine. -

I came here with my friend during a slow time. We were seated outside. No one came to take our order and we sat there with our menu for a good 10 minutes at least. We didn't even get water. No one came.
I couldn't believe it. Usually when a place is dead the waiter is on you like a fat kid on cake.
My friend and I got up to leave. The hostess, I assume that is what she was, told us to have a nice day. I said "We would have if we had actually got any service".
This was a couple years ago and I didn't get a yelp account till recently but since then I have never gone back. I never even thought about it. -

My friends took me here to celebrate my extented birthday. We came around happy hour & the hostess was very friendly & she let us choose wherever we wanted to sit.. the Happy hour menu range from $3-$8 depends on what you getting. I find their drinks a 'lil pricey for HAPPY HOUR! A glass of mango margarita for 8 bucks seems not fair. The sushi is good though! We had the rainbow roll, las vegas roll & crunchy spicy tuna.. we also had the tempura which is good too! The only downside is the service.. slow & it takes forever! Other than that.. food is good & definitely coming back in the future. Oh! and I love the atmosphere!!!! :)

Review from Khathy H.
My little 15-year old cousin only likes to eat Asian food. He also likes shopping. You can imagine how convenient RA Sushi is, then, with the newly remodeled Del Amo mall. Even during the holidays, parking was easy, and they still do happy hour.
My first impression walking into the place was, "it's so loud in here." I had to take my phone call outside. I'd recommend that if you are hard of hearing, or want to be in a relaxing environment, that this is not the place to go. Even then, the music playing were those in the clubs, and not even any Asian music. So much for an Asian experience.
Nevertheless, the happy hour menu had us in an excited fervor. We ordered the Las Vegas roll, Philadelphia roll, Baby Crab roll, and the Ra'kin shrimp. I think the only one I enjoyed was the Las Vegas roll. The others were interesting but not at all great. The Baby Crab roll was almost $11 so I would definitely not get that again for the quality. The Ra'kin shrimp, although ordinary, was rather delicious and a bit spicy.
For drinks, to take advantage of the happy hour pricing, we got a few of the Miyagi margaritas, and a bottle of $3 sake. It was interesting, to say the least. I wasn't too impressed.
We left a bit satiated, but unsatisfied.
I signed up the for the birthday program to receive $20 off on my half, and real birthdays so I may give Ra another try.
Am I too critical Yelpers?
Sincerely honest,
Khathy H. -

Good happy hour. Decent sushi, not the best, but it is better than some. Sit at the bar, the chefs are pretty cool, they usually hook you up at the bar.

We ordered 3 rolls, they were okay. Not fantastic, but not wonderful either. Our server was very nice and we appreciated his great customer service.
Then, after we finished the 3rd set, we ordered one more set, because we were still hungry.
--Guess when that final roll came? ALMOST 40 MINUTES LATER. 40 minutes!!
We were FULL by the time that last roll came AND late getting to our next appt!
Seriously RA? Customers don't care that you only have a couple sushi chefs, you can't leave us waiting almost an hour for 1 stinkin' roll because you don't have your act together! Especially given that your food is average, anyway!
Will not be going back here again. There are too many other good sushi places to put up with this crap.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I ate here only once, but I come often for their Sunday night Happy Hour 8 -11 PM.
They raised the price slighting for their happy hour menu, but it's still worth it.
Hot sake for $2
22 oz Kirin & hot sake for $7
They also have a decent selection for food during happy hour.
Edamame $2
Spicy Sesame chicken wings $5
I always order these when I am here and sometime I get 2 orders. The wings are deep fried then tossed in a creamy sesame sauce and they drizzle siracha them. They're soooo good with a beer.
They have outdoor seating, but when it's cold, even with the heating lamps, no one wants to sit out there. -

Don't know why it took it so long to publish this review, but glad I wrote down everything we had during our visit at RA's.
Below is the list of amazingness that RA's has to offer besides their amazing service, cute waiters/servers, and upscale/clubby establishment:
Viva las Vegas roll
Spicy tuna
Spicy salmon
Mango lobster
Tootsie roll
Pork Gyoza
Chicken yakitori.
Squid salad
Sashimi salmon w sweet onion
Green tea ice cream -

Love the Happy Hour here! Great menu and drink selection. Prices rock! Hot Sake for $2. Proportions for Happy Hour are a bit small but I guess for the prices they charge you get what you pay for.
The fried calamari is delish. -

This place is ok. I would definitely go for happy hour again but i have to say if you are going to give me a spicy tuna roll don't make it half the size because its on the happy hour special.
The fried calamari and shrimp were absolutely delicious. U would definitely go back just to have the those 2 things again.
I am only giving 3 stars because although the food was super yummy the service and proportions of the sushi rolls lacked. I have gone to other places paid the same price and walked out much more satisfied. -

Enjoyed the sushi here. Great happy hour pricing, 3-7pm M-F. The Viva Las Vegas Roll is interesting but taste wise I think overrated by some, but definitely worth the happy hour price (50% off). Our service was very good, considering we had 3 kids and 5 adults all ordering things at different times, our food kept coming on time and even included some special orders. Needs more indoor bar seating, although for happy hour you can order it anywhere. For 8 people with drinks at happy hour we got out for under $160 including tip.

3.5 stars. If you want to be fully satisfied with this place, go for happy hour. they have GREAT deals on sushi rolls. Granted, they are the simple ones, but in my opinion the simpler the sushi, the better.
Atmosphere: DIM. It's trendy and intimate.
Food: California roll, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon $4 each during HR and a Rainbow Roll (different raw fish on top of a Cali Roll) for $6. The sushi is good but nothing spectacular. Needless to say, definitely worth the price on Monday-Saturday from 3-7.
Service: When I went, service was EXTREMELY FAST and efficient. Me gusta.
I remember when this place was new and I would go for dinner, and I didn't enjoy it. But like I said, happy hour it up and you should be a happy camper -

It was either RA Sushi or expensive Panda Express (PF Changs). The bento box lunch specials are great deals. I had the beef terriyaki and its the best beef terriyaki I've had by far. The avocado roll was good. Customer service was awesome. Not much more to ask for.

MMMMM I love RA!!
Just to be brief I love their viva las vegas roll!!! It's so yummy. Also their large margaritas are super tasty and strong.
I've also come here just for the bar and the drinks hit hard and the bar tenders are nice (might I add cute).
Basically RA is one of my go to places whether its a date or with my girls. I wish it wasn't located at the Del Amo mall because I hate Del Amo and Torrance but I'll make the mission for this place.
love! -

RA Sushi is pretty good for their happy hour menu. Good priced during their happy hours and their regular menu is quite reasonable. They also have outdoor heated seating and the inside is very dim during dinner hours.
The quality of the food is good but there service here is horrible. I don't know why but for some reason every time I go here, they never issue me only one waiter which makes me feel like I just ask anyone working that's walking by if i need anything.
I don't tend to go here anymore other than when my friends want to go here for happy hour. Overall nothing special with below average service. -

Came here late at night on a Sunday during hh, and it was packed! jeeeeeeeeez, so wait time was about 15 minutes or so.
As soon as we were seated, me and my buddy ordered the pineapple cheese wontons (omg so goooooooood), salmon carpaccio which was super fresh (6 pieces of sashimi, topped with mayo? and drizzled with a whole bunch of roe in the middle), spicy tuna roll (crunchy and not spicy at all, yummy but not too original), and the kaisen ceviche (shrimp was so fresh and topped with the avocado, probably the best ceviche ive tasted so far). AND we also ordered the Umami punch, OMG. served in fish bowl...took FOREVER to finish. But it was good! We even received a complimentary miso soup because i checked in via foursquare! (i checked in with yelp also, don't worry http://yelp.com you're my first love).
SO much food, but i love it here. the ambience is friendly, good vibe, good music (although I wished they still had their DJ license bc music was MUCH better when my friends dj'ed here a while back) and GOOD FOOD! Just wish it was a little brighter bc it was kinda dark in there haha. -

Let's be frank. This is Torrance. We're proud of our dozens of hole-in-the-wall Japanese/sushi restaurants. There are parts of town where you could almost lay down in the street, wave your arms and make Japanese restaurant-angels. Thing is, though, if you're looking to introduce a xenophobic friend to that exotic and scary cuisine known as sushi, these charming-but-sometimes-mildewed little family-run shops aren't the best place to start.
This is where RA comes in. It's a rapidly-expanding chain of eateries that serves up reasonably-well-crafted PG-rated sushi to 20-somethings who find raw fish easier to stomach if you throw in a dash of nightclub. After all, they're playing Pet Shop Boys, so it can't be that scary, right?
Although the rolls do their best to outdo each other in general wackiness and appearance, the quality is strictly middle-of-the-road. Cooked options are unfortunately a little more inconsistent, a notable exception being the strangely habit-forming RAkin' Shrimp. The house sake is about what you'd expect it to be.
Aside from the W-hotel-lobby decor, the best thing about RA is Happy Hour, which for value and quantity is tough to beat in the area. Mediocre sushi might be easier to swallow with a dash of nightclub, but it's even easier when it's dirt-cheap and chased with a bottom-dollar 22-ounce Kirin. There's something to be said when six people can stuff themselves full of rice n' fish n' seaweed n' beer for well under $100. -

Not much to say. Every time we go, we enjoy our sushi. Drinks are always good. It can be a little pricey but they offer sashimi and sake in varying kinds.

This is one of those casual places where you end up after some serious "where should we eat" discussions, when nobody really knows what they want to eat or where to go. Or after a long, hard day of shopping, as it is conveniently located next to the stores in the Del Amo promenade.
After about 5 minutes of perusing the menu, I always order the same dishes: miso soup, tuna tataki, ultimate shrimp tempura roll, mango lobster roll and salmon carpaccio.
I am absolutely enamored with the big red balls of light hanging from the ceiling.
Plenty of super attentive sweet, young servers make it a pleasant dining place. -

Ok, I'll get straight to the point. I go here twice a month with friends. I'm addicted to the Crunchy Calamari Roll and Spicy Sesame Wings.
As far as service goes, the waitresses here are obviously hired by the way they look, not how they serve... not that I'm complaining. -

I think the server was playing musical orders with us. I came with four friends of mine and we received the wrong order, then we received a double order and we were like, "Hey what is this? Are we paying for it?" and we told no ~ the waitress took it away.
Um. It was on our tab and we ended up paying for it. The food is rather pricey but tasty... I was very put off because I thought our waitress was very negligent. -

My friends and I went there for a celebratory dinner; 2 birthdays and the end of a work event. It's hidden in the promenade of the Del Amo mall and surprising enough parking can be tricky, very busy mall.
Once there the atmosphere is dark but it makes every table very intimate. Even though we were close to the next table we hardly noticed our neighbors.
The staff works great together to make your eating experience outstanding. Even though we know who our server was anyone that came by our table was happy to help us.
We made it during Happy Hour and ordered a large number of rolls, my favorites were; Crunchy Calamari Roll and Crispy Spicy Tuna.
With several locations you can find one near you. -

REALLY NO HATS?!!? what KIND OF BULL CRAP IS THAT!!? This aint no F'n club or a strip joint..the food isnt even that good and now they gonna send away people with hats! I mean i dont get it!? We doing them a favor here, no?
And the worst part is that this rule applies only after 9pm, so WTF are we suppose to do if we got hat hair going on underneath our hats? pay the bill and go? and WHY 9pm?
well...At least the alcohol is good..but they dont make that!! -

Place to hang out - yes.
For sushi - meh...
Drinks - ok.
Y? in that mall which is the only one in that area.
Go that place for RA? no.
Go to hang out and take a snack break at RA? ya.
Anything recommend? give me one more mochi - or buy me one in the frozen desert section in any Asian grocery stores... -

When my BF and I started dating, this was our spot every Sunday. They have AWESOME happy hour! The food is good, their Viva Las Vegas roll is the BUSINESS!!! I ALWAYS order it whenever we come here. Their Ra'kin Shrimp is delicious as well. They have a great ambiance, very trendy. But if you are looking for a quiet romantic type dinner, this is not the place. There's always music playing... really loud!
The ONLY thing that I hate about this place are the people that work here. The people that work here are idiots! Their service SUCKS! It's tradition to take our Moms to eat here every Mother's Day and they ALWAYS try to put us at the smallest table and we have to BEG for the larger booth... EVERY TIME! It's SO effen annoying!! How do you expect 4 people to eat at a small ass table?!?! And when you order something extra, it takes them FOREVER to bring your food out! The ONLY 1 person I like is one of their bartenders, Brooklyn! He's the best!
And what is the deal with NO hats?? You are NOT a club! -
Review from Maria B.
I've been here a few times. The best time to come is during happy hour. Why? $2 sake!
Awhile back, on Sunday night this place was happening. I had a party friend from OC drive to this place for the nightlife. That's just unheard of... Torrance nightlife!? I don't know what Sunday nights are like these days.
I've had some really good food here. Especially the last time that I went. The salad, rolls, sashimi, and dessert were all delicious. My guy and I stopped here for dinner. The waiter was very cool.. he put on a soccer game on all the TVs for him. However, he did get our order wrong twice. So we sent two things back. They fixed the mistake with no complaints or attitude, so it was all good.
It is a good place for a date. The lighting, atmoshere, and the drinks.
This is a good stop for bar hopping in Torrance because there are several other bars next to it. Plus, the restaurant is open till 11pm which is great for the late night eating. -
Review from Linda T.
Great Happy hour.
Sushi not so authentic? Who cares when you're swigging some tasty sake down with a cold Kirin for only 6 bucks a pop.
Happy hour is from 3-7. Also, it has a nice patio that is great for people watching the people at the mall. I especially like coming here before a shopping spree or before a comedy at the AMC upstairs from Ra sushi. Usually two get me pretty saucy. The glass of of house white win is pretty big, and 5 or six bucks for happy hour. I like it in the warm summer months.
*Tip: I'd get there between 3-4:30 to get seating for large groups, otherwise you're screwed. -

This was my favorite place for Happy Hour until I went there one Sunday night and was told it would be like 20 minutes for a table, turned into an hour and a half. And when I asked about the 20 minutes, the little teenage hostess told me, " oh we paged you but since you didn't come up we gave your table away". "I didn't even see this pager go off" I replied. After arguing with her for a minute about the pager how she knew we were waiting for a table, etc , etc ...she refused to help me out. At this point I was so hungry I just left. Horrible customer service, average sushi at best and too many underage kids drinking. The guys behind the bar act like they are so busy but in reality don't have anything to do, douches.

This place is amazing! Really nice atmosphere on the inside, not too packed or stuffy..Although the sushi itself is amazing, the eel rolls aren't as great as I've had at other places, but their signature roll (The Las Vegas roll I believe its called) is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. One of the best rolls I've had hands down. and they're really big too!
Christina was my friend and I's waitress, and she was great too! Really friendly and sweet, and always checking up on us!
I definitely recommend this place to other sushi-lovers out there. -

The VIVA LAS VEGAS ROLLS, delicious!!
I recommend this place during happy hour...rolls are 7 (price of other places' regular prices).
Other than that, it is a bit pricey but the atmosphere is wonderful.
If you have some rolls, shop and a movie...perfect! haha :) -

I went there today with 5 other people, we were seated immediately, but our server was terrible. She did not take all of our orders, and she took forever to come back
She poured water on one of my friends foot, and didnt even notice
she was not on her game at all for the night
the food is very americanized sushi, it's good for the amateur sushi eater.
i have been coming to this RA since it opened, the service has gotten a lot worse, and the only reason i come here is for the happy hour. The normal prices are not worth going there.
the sushi rolls themselves are quite small.
overall: i will keep coming for the happy hour, and hope the management will train their servers better
