went there for halloween 09 and had a great time, didnt get too crowded good music lots of dancing
THE BAD - I got ripped so hard on my bar tap. 2 shots and a double vodka tonic was $126 so be careful.
Otherwise we got in right away didnt wait in line and had a blast (had willcall tickets for the night)
Just dont open a tab
I hate Steve W for beating me to the punch, but that's because he took the super express time capsule train home while I waited for the stupid F train. Did I mention I had to wait for the stupid F train? Wow, that was a long wait. Thank God I had my itouch and bedazzle which kept me company for what seems like an eternity.
Ok, back to Quo. I like this place. Wow, I actually like a club. The layout is wide open, with a huge bar which seems very efficient. Unlike Steve W, I actually paid for my drink because the bartender was rather cute and I wanted to make sure I tipped her. Yeah, that's the most action I got that night, but I digress.
The DJ played pretty good hits and didn't talk at all. God bless him. Just straight up good music. Why can't they all learn from him? The door guy was pretty cool as well. He carded me like he should but spend an unusual amount of time inspecting my id. I told him that was 7 years ago and I lost a crap load of weight and he chuckled and told me to have fun. That's pretty cool in my book if you ask me.
Ok, so I had a good time. Why 4 stars instead of 5, you might ask? For all the inquisitive minds out there, I will never give club 5 stars. They just don't deserve it. I'm still paying a boat load for drinks and they still charge for coat check, but I'm way passed this. Perhaps my night at duvet made me realized how much better Quo is, or is it how really bad duvet is. Ok, I'm just ranting now, but you get the gist right? Please tell me you do :)
AHA i beat athena's review of quo. i bet you she's gonna review it next. neways, quo, located in the chelsea night club strip across the street from m2 is a pretty decent spot.
the layout is nice with couches on the side and a big dance floor. the dj spins decent joints. i really don't find dj'ing all that hard to be honest so if i complain about the dj, you have to have pretty bad taste. i went here for an asian networking party. good crowd, good music and free drinks. well not exactly free, but i ordered two drinks and the bartender gave it to me and ran away. i wasn't gonna wait around for her to charge me. too bad loser.
overall a good night, i can't speak for their usual friday or saturday night parties but all i know was the dj was pretty good and the layout was spacious with room to move despite being crowded.
4 stars for the ditzy bartender. and i got my dances in. gotta love dem hoes.
Due to the location, I lowered this place by one star and the music here really is a bit odd too. They played mixed 80s and some modern hip hop with techno in between. Drinks are about $12 for cocktails and the lighting is really dim.
I probably won't come again due to the terrible location.
Dear Quo/Retox/Mist,
Make up your mind superclub. Honestly. It's for your own good really. You are going through a major indentity crisis, which I'm sure has a lot to do with the fact that your name has been changed more than enough times, but right about now you are just pretty much ridiculous.
I visited you last Saturday night and sat in the back, which used to be walled off but now, that wall is made out of glass, so you can see the rest of the club, with its fancy lights and dancing people, buying stuff from the bar then spilling it on the very next person they bump into. Your decor, I must say, is beautiful. For lack of a better way to put it, I love what you've done with the place. Beyond that though, what's going on with you Quo?
Samantha Ronson was guest DJ for the night (and was nothing short of metiocre) so I know that with a DJ, music playing, and drinks flowing, that you are infact a club. However, I was a bit confused as to what exactly you are trying to be. There were two scantilly-clad women on a bed on stage rubbing each other down and massaging each other. On another stage, there were pole dancers, and a very weird singer (who I'm told is from The Box) "performing" for a very perterbed crowd. Later, that same weird guy was doing another one of his songs, this time with a topless girl flanking him.
I'm not sure where you're going from here Quo, whether another name change is coming or what have you, but one thing is for certain: a night at your establishment nowadays, leaves a patron as confused as you are. Till we meet again Q...

Went to French Tuesday here tonight. Usually you have to be on an exclusive guest list and/or pay $40. The party starts early (around 8:30pm) but I showed up at 11:30pm and was "allowed in" for $20. The music was cheesy (YMCA?) but I admit, a lot of fun. My favorite part was the live drummer. There was tons of glow sticks and flashy things, cool green lighting and a bunch of stages and V.I.P areas to dance. I would rather have no souvenoirs and a cheaper entrance price.
For French Tuesday parties everyone is dressed to the nines in suits and dresses so don't go thinking it's a casual night out! I don't know how expensive drinks are here (I'm assuming the price tags are as hefty as the entrance) but they do have tap water you can have for free!
And there's coat check = perfect for the awful weather we'll probably see in the next few weeks.
I went here last night and I'm really impressed with the changes to the club. I've been to the original Quo and Myst/Retox as well. I like this layout the best. They removed the wall between the two sections of the club to give it a more open feel and replaced it with glass. I love the exclusivity the back room gives you, with the energy from the front room as well. The whole venue really reminds me of Vegas. From the decor to the crowd, it has this insane party vibe. There were all these performers because it was opening weekend which was cool. There were pole dancers (one talented, one not at all!), mardi gras dancers, singers, etc.
I came with a promoter so I can't comment on service so much. We were taken care of though, and the busboy was very attentive in bringing ice, mixers, cleaning up glasses, etc. The music was good as well and had everyone off their feet and dancing.
It is hard to judge a club on opening weekend, so we will have to see if they can keep it up. I will be coming back to find out!
Quo is quite nice inside, it is clear that they just remodeled the place. It was quite busy, but they limited admission so it never got so packed you could not move around. The music was pretty lame, though. You think such an "upscale lounge" would have better music, but it was basically WKTU-type dance remixed pop music, plus some hip hop. The bartenders were nice and did not give any attitude. The one downside is that credit card minimum is $40, plus you need to give them your license as well.
One interesting thing about Quo is that they they have a burlesque show led by some guy named Raven O, who did similar shows at The Box. There were several shows throughout the night, and the shows were more lame strip club (without the nudity) than burlesque. Also, the shows kind of pulled the e-brake up on the vibe of everyone dancing and partying, but hey, at least they are trying something new.
I was also at Quo when Samantha Ronson was dj-ing and I can honestly say I wasn't impressed. The crowd was also really obnoxious ranging from wannabe pole-dancers to wannabe lesbians (to garner attention from men). The decor was very nice but in my opinion, it's the music that gives the place its ambiance. Quo's ambiance was bleh.
NO QUO!
This place just reopened, and I went last night for a friend's birthday with the promise that we would be given two bottles for free if we purchased two. Instead, we were scammed in every possible way and treated like absolute dirt by the managers.
You would think that on a club's second night of operation, it would try to be on top of its game. You would think that if customers purchased bottle service, the bottles they ordered would come to their table within 40 minutes of the purchase. You would think that if a customer actually ordered an additional bottle for 400 dollars, the bottle would be delivered.
In that sense, Quo, which actually means "what?" in Latin, lives up to its name. The thing is, while one would expect a newly re-opened club to be firing on all cylinders to generate positive buzz, it is fair to expect that a few kinks still need to be worked out. The real "what? [the hell]" element of Quo, then, derives from behavior and attitude of the club's managers and servers. Not only were the servers completely incompetent, but they also made a series of false promises and were utterly useless in rectifying the problems they created.
The managers of the club made a concerted effort to compound the problems that their staff created, and to do so in the most unfriendly, arrogant, abrasive, and moronic way possible. In order to defend a charge we never agreed to pay for, they tried to intimidate us into paying by telling us that "that's just the way it works around the city." Quo? I'm not accustomed to being told by a staffer at the door that I'm not getting charged for something, and then having a manger come to me, holding my personal information and cards hostage, and telling me that I better pay because "that's how it works everywhere."
Perhaps even more confounding was the managers' explanation for the staff's utterly poor service and failure to deliver on promises. "It's our second night, man, cut us a break." Quo? No need to cut us a break and remove a false 400 dollar charge and demand that we pay it. But we should totally cut Quo a break for being a horrible club with horrible service and pay them what they demand because, well, it's only their second night.
I urge anyone reading this to make sure that Quo's second night becomes one of its last. This place does not deserve your time or money.
Came here on pre-Halloween night. Good crowd control. Lotsa people but just enough so everyone can dance. The place overall is not huge or leveled but it's adequate in size in having the right amount of people. Great DJ and stage dancers. The house was pumping with some latin techno that night and a bit of live performances as well. For a club like this, you'd think I'd run into at least one asshole staff, but that wasn't the case. Can't review the drinks because I only had a Corona and danced the rest of the night. But that may be a good thing.
i went on a saturday if you're looking for a b&t party than this is the place . first off the door man thought who he was . when we got inside it was nice looking the show on stage was pretty hot n steamy. the music was ehhh mixing could have been better and music sletion could have been better . the drinks were mediumly priced. one thing that was terrible i had to use the bathroom and the line was forever . other than that i might go back if they step it up a little bit. need to have more energy.
I went there last night with some of my girlfriends and had a great time. While a bigger crowd would have made the atmosphere in there more fun, the weather was pretty terrible so for that, the turnout wasn't so bad. The main space is open with tables on the side and another space to the side with a different DJ. Raven-O's show is definitely worth a visit to Quo. People were very friendly and the overall crowd was great. Great mix of music.
saturdays are packed and fun...hot fun live shows thorughout the night. definately fun experience. totally disagree with those bitchy complaints on here. highly reccomend place for a wild night out

So this is a pretty trendy little nightclub in the hot meatpacking district of NYC. The best part about Quo is if its just a group of ladies needing to get in - you never have to wait or pay cover!
The drinks are pretty expensive, and if you want to pay via credit card - they build in a tip to your bill! So even if the bartenders are completely oblivious to you, when they finally do get to you - you have to tip them! I found this a little ridiculous.
It was the bartender that night that made me do this to you Quo. For one I know I may look young but if I was carded to get in why do I have to show you my ID AGAIN to get a drink?! And it took forever for you to even notice that I wanted to get intoxicated. I think I was looking extra sassy tonight so gay or straight the bartender should have recognized my gangster and given me more attention. (I breathe off attention)
Other than that it was small but there was room for the non-VIP to sit and sip on their drinks. The DJ was pretty fire that night so even though I couldn't get a drink, I could dance the night away.
The layout of Quo is fairly small and somewhat inconvenient-- there's not a lot of seating available unles you pay for it (aka. get a table) and the DJ booth takes up most of the space between the dance floor and the bathroom. There's also a VIP room in the back, but most of the action is still in the main room.
Don't bother getting there early because the crowd doesn't start trickling in until much later. The drinks are somewhat pricey, which is what you'd expect with most night outs in the city; however, what you don't expect is for the DJ to play 90s hits all night long... on and on even after numerous party-goers' requests for them to stop.
But, I will forgive them in this case since I didn't remember half the night and could be fouled for not being a credible witness.
I was sorely disappointed when I went here after hearing all about it from friends.. It's reallllly small and didn't have a cool atmosphere. I was there on a Thursday night and the music sucked- nobody was dancing. And naturally, all the drinks were way overpriced. You could definitely do better.
A little more on the low down side... with a touch of class! I will definitely come back here next time im in NYC! They got a great hot dog stand in front!
trendy club in the meatpacking district. great music, beautiful people, live drummer, sexy dancers, trendy decor, the whole 9 yards. the only drawback is that it is kind of small, and you can only sit if you get table service.
