BEWARE. If you care about your pet, look elsewhere.
One of our dogs used to be a patient with them. Luckily, I went with my gut instincts and immediately found another vet. The customer service was poor, lab results were not turned around in a timely manner and Dr. Collinson's phone calls were returned after a few days of patiently waiting and not knowing if our dog was going to make it. Sure, this would be perhaps OK if my dog was in good health, but she wasn't.
Here's our story. At the time, our dog was only about 3 years old and had passed out twice on us and appeared to have seizures. We took her to see the doctor to find out what was wrong. She appeared to be in good health. They decided to preform a few lab tests on her and told us to wait for the results. She had another seizure again and by that time I was on pins and needles. After about 48 hours, and a few proactive phone calls on my part, we got a call. The doctor told us that the prognosis wasn't very good and that MAYBE they could try a few things to see if it will work even though he was unsure what it was. The doctor did NOT sound very convincing or concerned with my sense of urgency and wanted a second opinion.
The second opinion: We took our dog to a VCA hospital. (They are a national chain with very high regulated standards.) Luckily, the new doctor felt my pain and my dogs and ran a few tests. They called us with the lab results that same night! The doctor told us that our dog needed an immediate blood transfusion ASAP and to bring her in. Had we had waited another 24 hours with the other doctor, our dog would not have made it. OMG!!! After the blood transfusion, I noticed an immediate temporary difference. We were told to also go see a specialist who might be able to assist our dog. After a few lab tests, another blood transfusion, medicine and daily visits, I am happy to say that our dog is still with us.
BOTTOM LINE: Had we have stayed with Quito, I don't think that our dog would be with us today. Quito Vet caused us so much unwanted stress. What a waste.
TIP: VCA Hospitals saved our dogs life. I am so thankful that I found them!

I've been quite happy with Quito for the past few years. Recently, I've been bringing my beautiful kitty there quite often (about every two weeks) to treat kidney problems and infections. Dr. Collinson and the entire staff has been very good to me and Izzy during this painful process. The first weekend of treatment, I was out of town so he took her home himself to watch over her and called me at least once a day each day with an update. Izzy has needed a lot of TLC and Quito has provided that immensely. Unfortunately, the cost seems a bit on the high end, which is why I did not give them five stars. But Dr. Collinson, Sharon and Janet are awesome and provide excellent service. I know that Izzy is in very capable and loving hands.
I went to Quito because my roommate took his cat there and highly recommend it. I had been going there for 3 years but I have definitely had my last visit this week.
To be fair, for the most part they seemed like a good hospital. The doctor is a bit rough around the edges - i almost felt like i was his silly niece that he had to scold, but he seemed competent. The technicians and front desk were very nice and because they had pets, very sympathetic. The hospital services both cats and dogs but has separate entry ways so that they don't mingle too much. They schedule appointments well since it seems you are rarely in the waiting area with other pets.
So why the bad rating? Because they have poor customer billing service and double charged me for visits.
I had taken my cat in for a follow-up checkup which required a urine test. Unfortunately, he had no urine to take. I was going to say that I would just come back at a better time, but they said they could do a brief exam now and then I could return later for the urine exam. Sounded logical - might as well do something since I'm already there. They charged me for the brief exam and said I wouldn't have to pay again once I came back for the urine test.
Well, they 'forgot' - even though they had records that I had already been there for the exam less than a week ago. Instead, they charged me for the whole thing again. I understand if they wanted to charge me for just the urine exam portion, but they charged me for the 2nd visit.
Lesson learned. I can no longer trust Quito since I feel like they have swindled me. And as for my next vet, I will make sure that I don't split visits into 2.

We originally began going to Quito several years ago when I became dissatisfied with our previous vet. I picked Quito because of the location, and was delighted to find that they have exceeded my expectations in almost every regard.
I am pretty picky when it comes to animal hospitals, because of my Dad, who was a veterinarian. There are some important questions to ask when determining the worth of your animal hospital:
- Cleanliness. Does the interior smell clean? Are the exam tables, floor and counters clean? What about the smocks on the techs and doctors? The instruments used during the exams?
- Rapport with the animals. Not only do the doctors need to be good with animals, but so do the techs. Do they have any pets of their own? Does your normally shy animal buddy up with the staff? Does the staff talk to your pet, and offer treats and ear or tummy pets?
- Bedside Manner. Does the staff treat you like an intelligent person, with the ability to make your own decisions regarding your pet's welfare? Do they explain in understandable terms what's up with your pet and give you the pros and cons of the options you have? Does the staff greet you when you arrive, with warmth and welcome, even when they're busy?
I can't say enough about how wonderful the Quito staff is. Not only have they treated us and our pets with the utmost respect and warmth, but they have helped us care for a colony of feral cats, and helped us through the diagnosis and treatment of our diabetic cat.
They meet or exceed the mark on all of my criteria, and I have never had reason to doubt their desire to do their very best for us and our pets.
