Quincy Park
- Good for Kids:
- Yes
4 reviews for Quincy Park
Quincy Park offers ample running room, a volleyball pit, and a softball field that has to be reserved to be used. The basketball courts are embarrassingly limited - only one full-court - though it is a nice court and is often populated be decent yet unpretentious ballers.
The tennis courts at Quincy are mediocre. There are six courts with contiguous setups of 3, 2, and one. This is nice if you get the solo court and you don't have to interrupt or be interrupted by neighbors, but none of the courts are particularly nice. They don't have any structural flaws, mind you, and the nets are okay, they just aren't freshly surfaced. None of the courts have shade, and there is only one court with benches, as I recall. The courts are used by the local highschool in the Fall, but afterwork hitters will probably be okay after 5pm. There is also adequate and convenient parking.

I like their tennis courts. They recently redid the surface so it's in great shape. There are 6 courts, and there's hardly any wait on Sunday mornings before 9am.

I took advantage of the abnormally warm weather this week (Feb. '08) to get in a couple sets of tennis at the Quincy courts. I think the only reason they weren't crowded (as they almost always are during warmer months) was because the weather took everyone by surprise. The courts are convenient to my house, but that's about the only good thing. The lighting at night is TERRIBLE, and it's not clear at what time they turn off for good (last night it was 7:30PM). They need new lights, or at least to regularly replace the burned out lightbulbs.

I have a hard time really rating this. It's a park with some grass, a pavilion, and some other things. If all you want to do is have a picnic, it's in a nice area, and there's certainly plenty of room to do it in along with lots of picnic tables. Any other activities, and you may be out of luck. There's only one covered pavilion that I've seen, and I don't know if it requires reservations or anything. They've also got some tennis and basketball courts. It's nice and well kept, but there's nothing really to make it stand out as anything more than a place to lie in the sun.
