8 reviews for Quigley's Restaurant
Few specialties, but the quality and service are one of the best in Barstow.
I don't know who Quigley is, he's probably some old guy mining for gold or something, but he makes pretty good grub! Unfortunetly, he only sticks to the basics like sandwhiches, burgers, and meatloaf: kindda that down-home kindda thing old-timer Barstowians can't get enough of. It's also a bit quiet and low key, so its not the best place for Barstow's (missing) younger crowd (Of course, they go out of town anyway lol). Regardless of that, the service is excellent (a rare thing to see in Barstow) and the food is good. They do have a few specialties: Their Monte Cristo is actually a sandwhich with ham and melted cheese fried like it's French Toast! I know.. It's better than it sounds. :) In conclusion, if you want a down-home meal or a sandwhich on the way down to Vegas this is the best Barstow has to offer!
B rating on the wall that we saw as we were leaving for major health violation due to the temp of the food. Hope we don't get sick later!
Diner food cheap, but not worth it. Find somewhere else if you can. (In and Out Burger across the street is worth the wait in this quickstop area!)
I heart Quigley's! The staff is outstanding and down to earth, the food is gut busting good and they have the coolest air conditioning in town for those really hot Barstow summer days. I've eaten at Quigley's for about 7 years and it has gotten better with age. My favorites are the tuna/tomato plate, the Trail Burger and any of the sandwiches. If you are looking for a sit down chill out experience while driving through the desert stop by and say hi to Jeri and Dori and all the gals. Thanks for the grub!
Boss and I looked around the restaurant and tried to determine who was on the lam, or at least planning something big. Mmm, it's that kind of diner.
We stopped in after shopping at the outlets down the street. It is reminiscent of any other diner you've experience: Denny's, Carrow's, IHOP, et al. The staff was friendly and attentive. We noticed a few regulars, based on the interactions with the wait staff.
The food was consistent with the other establishments as well. Boss went for breakfast at lunch - always pleasant - two eggs 'easy over,' hash browns and toast. I decided on the Reuben sandwich. Standard fare that - while fine - you could get anywhere else or make for yourself at home.
They had this joke book at our table, which was also available for purchase at the register, about lying fishermen or some such thing. "What is the best excuse for not bringing fish home after spending all day out on the lake?" "You landed a 200-pound fish, but after wrestling with it for hours and hours, the two of you bonded, and you decided to let it go." ZzzzzzzzZZzzzz...
Good food, great service, reasonable prices.
Our waitress was super-cool. My dining companion had this dream meal in mind but couldn't find it on the menu, it was a combination of like three different specials, not only did she put it together for him but she didn't charge us extra for it, and she totally could have. Big tip for her! and we'll be back.
Overall, Quigley's is an island of relative sanity in a sea of banal chain restaurants.
This is a diner at the outlet center south of Barstow. There are plenty of places to eat here so I would pass on this place.
The service is friendly and very good but the food is average and the prices relatively high. I got the mustard chicken salad with salsa instead of the mustard dressing. The salsa looks like bottled and was ok and medium hot. The salad had a variety of lettuce with some brown edges on some pieces. The chicken is ok and there could have been more for the price about $9.
There are a lot of good fast food places here, I would do In-N-Out instead.
On my way back from a weekend in the desert, my companion and I needed to find a place with free wi-fi and Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs! Quigley's had both!
Sadly, though, the gravy wasn't homemade, but came from a jar. Still, the wi-fi was helpful, and the service was efficient and friendly.
Next time I'm in the desert, I'll be back!
The service was pretty good. The food was good, but very very greasy. The prices were also very reasonable. However, it simply does not stand out in any way. It's a great diner to stop by if you're passing through, but I'm sure there are plenty just like this one, so it doesn't get more then a 3.
