Yay! I'm a fan... a Michigan Football fan who is sufficiently buzzed from tailgating before the game and is starting the trek down State st towards the Big House...
Zoh! There's Quickie Burger! How convenient!
There's a long line out the door for Quickie Burger and you're almost late for kickoff, but that's okay they've set up a stand outside, how thoughtful of them! Dig around in my pocket for some crumpled dollar bills, and drop them in the dude's hand...and I am given...
A Spicy Dog with onions, ketchup and mustard! Quick and easy, and you've got the most delicious, portable snack. It's actually spicy!
If you have time to wait in the line, I LOVE THE FRIES HERE! They are hot and crispy and...just go try them!
Wow! I ended everything with an exclamation point because I'm just super excited about Spicy Dogs! Genius I tell you, Genius! -

This review is based on a friend picking me up a quick lunch and bringing over to my house - no feedback on service, etc. Had the minor burger with swiss cheese. Someone below suggested that the uniform shape of the patty indicates that it is store-bought, which got me thinking. It probably is.
The meat was grey throughout and the wheat bun a little dry. The sauce was really nice and the veggies tasted really fresh.
I thought it was reasonable value - $5 for a burger.
Overall, I will try it again (and also add fries) but wasnt wowed with my first burger from there. -

Pros:
- Friendly staff
- Okay food
- Chili cheese fries
- Open late
Cons:
- Price
- Several better burger joints in AA
- Not just price, but size of burger and/or fries to price ratio... pathetic
Do yourself a favor and go to Blimpie Burger. -

SURPRISE! This place has awesome sweet potato fries! Crispy and flavorful, and sprinkled with salt AND cinnamon sugar. I was stunned to notice they had them on the menu when I walked by the open door one day, and even more surprised by how tasty they were! They went, well, like sweet potato fries at the potluck I took them to.
Yeah, yeah, I took them to a potluck...it was a nutty week and it slipped my mind and I totally forgot to cook something for the party. Lucky the fries were such a hit!
I really had no prior interest in Quickie Burger, but these fries impressed me enough that I just may be back to sample something else for a quickie lunch.Listed in: Yummy Yammies!

After drinking 40s and smoking 1,000 cigars at Babs (see review), Quickie Burger (I still say Beef Rodeo was a better name) shone like a beacon in a drunken, hazy night.
Major burger. Cheesy fries.
And the fella remembered us and treated us like kings when we returned. -

I was going to go to blimpy's burger that nite, but decided to try this new place out.
Now, the burgers were simply okay. I have to admit. Nothing special, the fries were a little above average. I like these fries better than blimpies though. I don't think I would go here again, other than the shakes. The shakes were not bad, considering there are not alot of places with shakes.
Also, the guy who was at the cashier was pretty chill. He needs a raise. Period. Other then that, pretty forgettable experience. -

My co-workers and I stopped in a few weeks ago for some lunch. I think we were expecting great things from a hole in the wall burger joint that was right down the road from Blimpy Burger. The hamburger patties were obviously bought from Costco or Sam's club as they were cookie-cutter round. What a shame. Then again any burger joint with Jaegermeister on tap must be catering to the late night crowd.
If I was a U of M student walking home from the bar in need of some food, I wouldn't have any problem getting a quickie burger and last call. Since I'm just a "townie" I will leave this place alone for better or worse.
I have no idea how this place pays for a liquor license with such sub-par food. -

I am not sure how this was voted the best burger in Ann Arbor 2009. I found my minor burger to be just adequate, with an institutional taste and texture that reminded me of the burgers they served at my high school. The patty was cooked past well-done, and on the dry side. I also didn't want a cheeseburger, but still had to pay for the cheese I didn't actually get.
I didn't want any fries, but whomever was behind the counter (the owner?) was very insistent that I did in fact want a side of sweet potato fries. I had to decline at least three times when ordering, and when I went back to the counter to get more catsup for my burger he asked me again if I wanted fries.
I didn't get any Quickie Sauce because it looked like Thousand Island dressing, which I hate. Maybe that's a crucial element if you want a positive impression? -

I'm loving this new establishment that's taking over where Tubby's used to be. By contrast, Quickie Burger is a lot more welcoming. Unlike other places in Ann Arbor that look like they don't want you to come in, QB's doors are always open and the people at the cash register (particularly the middle-aged guy who is most likely the owner) actually look pleased that you stopped by.
The menu is Maize and Blue with catchy names for their items. Students will feel comfortable ordering a Minor Burger when they want a bite to eat, or a Major Burger if they feel they can handle the course load (imagine what the Double Major Burger will do to you). Another thing that's great about the burgers is that they're highly customizable with your choice of American, Monterrey Jack (Jack for short), and Cheddar cheese (I think you can order it with Swiss and mozzarella too). One thing to look out for though is the sauce that comes standard on the burger. They wont ask you whether or not you want it on there because it's their signature sauce, but personally, I'm not a fan. I'm sure there are people that are down with it, so try it, and if you don't like it, don't be afraid to tell them the next time you come that you don't want the sauce (I feel bad though because the owner told me it was his wife's recipe). To each his own I guess, but the burger tastes 10 times better without it.
Burgers aren't the only things they have. They have fries, with or without cheese or chili, sweet potato fries, spectacular onion rings, kielbasas, and hot dogs as well.
The inside of the place is pretty small and the line to order plus the people waiting for the food can make QB pretty cramped. However, when you get your food, you're free to go downstairs where there's a lot more room. You'll find two big screen TVs on either ends of the wall down there (there's one on the first floor too).
Despite the now infamous image of the busty girl straddling a burger enticing you to grab a quickie (of what or who is anyone's guess), Quickie Burger is a great addition to the Southern part of State Street and from the taste of it will most likely be around for years to come. -

Ann Arbor, MI
On the ranking of burgers in the area, this place makes the top ten, but that's about it. Go to Blimpie Burger or Sidetrack's. OTOH, if you're out around 3 coming back from the bar and trying to walk straight, this is your place. And hey, if you're not quite buzzed enough, they do (somewhat surprisingly) have drinks, too. But be prepared to wait if this is the case.

I was craving a burger for lunch and Quickie was the closest place. Ordered a minor burger and naked fries and a pop. The burger was okay. Nothing to get too excited about but certainly better than fast food. With the thousand island dressing it was essentially a whopper jr on a wheat bun. The fries were spectacular however.
I'd come back again, but probably only as drunk food. The service really sets the place apart from most small joints. Both the cashier and the dude preparing my food were friendly and seemed to genuinely appreciate my business. -

Everybody knows that Quickie Burger sells burgers. They're decent. But what most people DON'T know is that Quickie Burger sells a Canadian favorite... Poutin! What the hell is Poutin, you ask? It's french fries, covered in gravy and cheese. I know it sounds weird, but it tastes okay. I recommend trying it if you're feeling adventurous.

I was in Ann Arbor again for work and I didn't have much time to grab lunch. Quickie Burger was a good find. I had the shredded chicken burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was good, and the lady behind the counter was really friendly. When my food came out she even asked me what I thought of it and said that the chicken marinade is a family recipe of hers. My total bill with burger, fries, and soda was about $11, but it was certainly better than fast food.

Ann Arbor, MI
Good burgers, great service, great value. Not the best burger I've ever enjoyed, but I've enjoyed some that cost far more than this one did. As it stands this place has great prices. A big step up from any fast-food chain, and you can get all kinds of tasty addons. The service is flawless.
Word to the wise: if you're getting takeout and want ketchup and mustard, you have to get it on the side yourself. They don't put it on the burger when they make it. -

Redondo Beach, CA
Disgusting, worse than school cafeteria burgers. Frozen disk-patties fried in a griddle placed in spongy buns. The burgers are filling but taste more of grease than meat. Good to satiate drunk munchies (perfect for the south State area), but terrible if you want a decent burger. Wendy's is a much better value, while Red Hot Lovers is a better burger.

Quickie Burger surfs the wave of burger joints currently building to a swell in Ann Arbor. It has very strategic pluses going for it: location, location, location, corner of State and Hill, right on the pilgrimage path to hoops and ice. And alcohol, oh my: the super-energetic owner is deadly serious about you being able to get your drink on, in such a tiny volume take-out place with few tables. Mixed drinks, small but capable draft beer selection, bottle beer selection, wine. Pity there are so few spots! Burger and a beer before hockey: check! My burger was tasty, although on one visit cooked more well than I ordered, so keep that in mind. About those fries... Sweet potato fries, loved em, particularly with the 'special sauce.' The 'naked fries'? Sorry, ain't so. What they are is coated (although not breaded, and not seasoned). And they are very popular. People who like these fries say QB fries are very tasty; I take their word for it. I am a spud luddite, an Idaho fundamentalist, naked-means-sliced-potato-and-nothing-else-was-don e fry eater, and I am on a crusade to save the vanishing classic french fry. Service is brisk, personalized and cheerful.

Ann Arbor, MI
The burgers were just "ok", not really all that flavorful, and somewhat dry . I had the major burger which is a double cheeseburger. The fries were unremarkable, and for the price they're charging a better burger can be had for a lot less. They will probably do well due to their location (but what burger joint wouldn't at the corner of Hill and State?) I probably won't be going back again unless I'm just starving and nothing else is open.

Ann Arbor, MI
This place had great burgers! Better than fast food. The service is fantastic and personable. They remember their customers and value them. We're a big fan of the nachos. No they're not the best in the world, but for somewhere around $4, after a night at the bar, you get a heaping box-ful of nachos loaded with everything. I'd give 4.5 starts if possible.
