Quetzal
10 reviews for Quetzal
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon; split a sandwich w/ organic green salad and had a Bloody Mary and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Found service to be friendly, prompt, and accommodating and price consistent with portion size. Loved the huge Boston Ferns and skylights in the dining area. Atmosphere was relaxed with four tables seated and 2 at the bar.
Breakfast and smoothie menus were very enticing. Plenty satisfied and will return *(deserves 4 stars for being a place in Memphis I'm actually looking fwd to returning to)*
This is a cute little intenet cafe near downtown, UT, and across from Sun Studios. The food is like Panera, a bit more expensive. The staff is nice. The only bad part about this place is the parking.
I liked the interior, very open with a large bar which I'm sure comes in handy on the weekends. The caramel apple milkshake was pretty good, but then again, it had better be good when it cost around $8. Biggest downfall is the location of the coffeehouse and lack of free parking. Its not really close enough to walk from downtown and not located in the midtown area.
Coffee: 2 stars. I ordered a basic coffee. I don't regard it very highly. It was rather bland.
Location: 2 stars. I'm not local to Memphis, but it looked as though it is located between a few residential zones on the main drag. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any parking around it. I was forced to park in some pay lot and quickly run in/out.
Space: 5 stars. The interior of the building is the saving grace of this place. It has a great space. It would be a very cool place to work/read/chat with friends. Since it's a bar/coffee shop/restaurant, you can pretty much spend your life there.
It's in a warehouse-turned-coffeehouse and they have delicious coffee, plus they had a lot of tempting-sounding food items. The interior is very spacious, bright & airy, attractive and relaxing. Also, everyone who worked there was very friendly. It's near downtown Memphis, although not close enough to walk.
Good coffee. Nice bar. Computers and wireless. Nice alternative to the pork everyone else in Memphis serves.
But the prices for the food are a high. You can eat much much cheaper breakfasts in Memphis. Service is slow and the kitchen is really slow. It is across from Sun Studios. That's nice.
Even though I have a whole list dedicated to how much I love pork, I was also feeling a little bit overloaded from all of the lardy goodness that is the regional cuisine.
Fortunately, Quetzal catered to my California hippy powerfood sensibilities and I got a big smoothie with wheatgrass juice, bee pollen, ginseng, and echinacea, and felt right at home. AND they had the Tour de France on the big TV, the sweethearts.
We grabbed coffee here after a visit to Sun Studios. Very cute place, good coffee and if I lived in Memphis I would visit pretty often.
This is a great place to have lunch. It's not too loud or crowded, the food is good and the menu has more variety than a typical cafe. Lots of salads and paninis are on the menu, so you can find something you like and enjoy an escape from the office. The space is large and open, with high ceilings and lots of light. Service is good but not very prompt. Ask for your check right away if you are in a hurry, or you might end up waiting awhile.
i just discovered this place on union. how long has it been there? they have computers to use, free wireless, good food, and a full bar.
it didn't think there was a place in town that you could play pool, have a cocktail and get good food.
i say its forth checking out.
