Shockingly good! I was so skeptical about San Bernardino in general (sorry SB!), but I needed to be in town for an exam at UC Riverside. All of the hotels in Riverside cost over $100 and their reviews on other unmentionable sites were not great--they either seemed less than clean or somewhat noisy because near campus. I was very frustrated until I stumbled on this hotel.

The Quality Inn is only about 10-12 minutes away from UCR and less than than to downtown Riverside. The area around Waterman/Hospitality Lane is actually better than the UCR area for food, at least chain food. There is a Mimi's, Chilis, Olive Garden, El Torito (I think), Kinkos and Souplantation all within 1-2 miles of the hotel.

The Quality Inn was fabulously clean. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms have comfy beds and clean, but small, bathrooms. There is a large half-fridge along with a microwave in the room. They have free wifi and a desk with a nice leather rolling chair. I stayed away from the pool and faced the mountains which is a really nice view as the sun is setting. There were a few slightly sketchy truck-driver types during the beginning of the week, but most people seemed to be heading through town like me.

The grounds are very well-kept. How could you do better than this for $80 a night (AAA rate)??

If I have to come back, I will stay here. I am staying in Ontario tonight because my husband is flying in and I wish I was just driving back to San Bernardino (I never thought I would say that).

I highly recommend this hotel for a nice quiet, clean place to stay.

If you have to stay in the area for more than 2 days, don't come here.  Check out the Marriott on Hospitality Lane instead.  Other reviews for this place made it sound like a resort. This is just a motel 6 with nicer furniture.

cons:
The breakfast egg/sausage is basically a 2tier clear plastic box with cold scrambled egg patties on the top and greasy cold sausages on the bottom that you have to microwave for 30 seconds.
Then you have your box cereal options of high-sugared cereals.  At least there's coffee, juice, yogurt and fruit to go with the white-bread and croissants.
Walls are super thin.  Parking lot is host for strange people walking around the cars and dumpsters.  Rooms are smaller than the pictures on the website make them

Pros: cheap, clean and excellent budget choice for a 1 nighter.
