Quality Inn Petaluma
5 reviews for Quality Inn Petaluma
Quality Inn Petaluma: A Perfectly Cromulent Hotel.
Granted, it was the *only* hotel I could find that had any rooms available, but it did boast a one-person jacuzzi tub int the room, and I was sold on that point alone. If we hadn't been attending the wedding of the year and there were rooms in my BnB of choice, chances are we never would have stayed here, but I'm glad we did, because those jacuzzi jets have really won me over from clawfoot tub snobbery. Jets rule!
The room: lovely & clean. Perhaps not totally quiet, it is near the freeway and a yappy little dog barked menacingly from next door when I was leaving my room one time. But, none of this disturbed my sleep in the least.
Amenities: I love free wifi! (I'm writing this review from the comfy bed in the room.) The continental breakfast was delicious. No, it is not high-end, but it's good. They *did* offer free USA Today and a local paper, but charged for the better paper, which I happily paid. Get over yourself if you have issues buying the paper. There is a lovely looking pool that people were enjoying and a fitness center with a few cardio machines if you are into that sort of thing. There is also a dry sauna, which is open 24 hours! Hmmm... may have to check it out before we check out.
They happily gave us late check-out at 1pm, and I am going to take full advantage of my time here. Thanks Quality Inn. You've earned 4 stars.

The hotel is a Quality Inn. Period. what would you expect from a Quality Inn? Quality? Ha! You, my leetle friend, apparently are quite green.
In all seriousness, this hotel gets three-stars, good'n'turrible from me. The room was clean, the bathroom was gigantic (I was in a handicap-accessible room with a special shower), and the AC was nice and cold (I like to turn it full blast and bury myself in the layers of blankets. Access to 101 is easy (though you can hear the traffic a little, depending where you stay). Probably the best thing about our stay there was that unlike a lot of other hotels in wine country during the summer, there was no minimum 2-nite stay. We needed a place to stay over from Sat-Sun for a wedding in Sonoma on Sat night. So many places we looked at throughout Sonoma Co. were either booked or required a 2-nite stay. Not the Quality Inn, thank goodness. This facet alone earns it an extra star.
Now, the not-so-good.
What hotel charges their guests at the front desk for a newspaper during continental breakfast? I heard a guest ask the clerk where the newspapers were. The clerk replied "it's $1.50 for the paper." The guest was speechless at first then replied "really?!" C'mon. If you are going to charge for a paper, then have machines outside that dispense papers. It seemed fishy that the clerk was going to take this guys cash for a paper too. Forget all that even: just get 10 subscriptions to the major local and national papers, like all other "Quality" hotels do, let your guests read them for free, and call it a day.
The continental breakfast was mediocre (as if there is such a thing as a good continental breakfast) and the breakfast area is quite tiny.
My last gripe: why on earth do you have to go out of your way to make the "free" wi-fi cost in terms of my time. I want to be able to tap the signal and surf - that's it. I don't want to have to call an 800#, talk to some dude, get a login and password, just to check email, read the news, and do other things that men do on the internet.
This review would be two stars if it weren't for the great no minimum stay policy.
Bullet points:
* My dog gets better boarding
* One star because zero is not allowed
I must also add my low-rating, since Herry K reviewed it and gave it a five star rating.
Herry is a new-comer to Yelp who only seems to review hotels, and gives them ALL 5 star ratings. I suspect he's in the hotel biz...
This hotel is NOT a luxury hotel, and barely deserves one star. It is old, dated, next to the freeway, and somewhat tawdry. And as Kathleen pointed out, it smells.
NOT recommended, except for mean, spiteful in laws perhaps...

We used to stay at the Sheraton but with the Sheraton new 50 pounds or less RIDICULOUS rule, we have moved on. During our stay we did not experience any 'lifestyle-enhancing' features (although I must say 'lifestyle enhancing' to me sure is not a newstand. Nor did we experience the one-star smelly place that others did.
We found a nice clean room, dog friendly, no smells, fridge, micro, large bath, big screen tv. I felt safe and secure (and I'm a wimp) and would stay again.
You have got to be kidding me...you must work there. ....the Quality Inn a LUXURY hotel....couldn't be farther from the truth! That place is as old as dirt, the rooms are decorated in early 70-'s decor and they smell! I would only send my worse enemy there...eeewwww. Not only that it is located right next to the freeway on-ramp so noise is awful and right up the road from it is the ever lovely Super 8 Motel or whatever they call it and that place is infested with the dregs of humanity!
