In a nutshell:  Good value when you don't want to spend a lot of money.  I'd rather buy extra bottles of wine since there are so many wineries to visit.  Great location while visiting Solvang and other local towns like Los Alamos. The hotel area is quiet...at least where our room was located.  We checked out our room before accepting it. I preferred to be on the same level as the front desk and breakfast room...just made it easier to bring in luggage.
The one problem:  our room had a weird smell, but I snagged the Glade Plug-in from the lobby bathroom and plugged it into our room. That took care of the smell and everything worked out.
The breakfast is good and plenty variety...from cereals to bacon and eggs to homemade waffles. Coffee was good with lots of cream. Clean room. The staff were very helpful. Easy parking.

    (sigh)

    One star downgrade...

Upon reviewing my credit card statements, I just realized that the young lady who checked us made one error for sure and possibly a second one as well.

I reserved three rooms on one credit card. When we arrived, I wanted two rooms charged on a different credit card, which I handed her, and the third room should be charged to the credit card of one of my traveling companions. I found that all three rooms were charged to the original credit card that I had made the reservations with. Now I have to check to see if my traveling companion was also charged for one room making it a double charge for the same room.

My wife stayed here recently. Check-in was easy and the man at the front desk was both friendly and professional. Having read some of the reviews prior to booking, we  made it a point to ask for a room away from the Highway 101 wing of the hotel and had no issues with any extraneous noise. Our room was a bit small and looked somewhat dated but was still clean and comfortable. We had no in-room fridge nor microwave but the man at he front desk was nice enough to let us use the microwave in the kitchen to heat our food. Mattress was comfortable and the Internet worked just fine. The morning breakfast was quite adequate and including sausages, eggs, waffles, bacon, fruits, pastries, cereals, coffees, teas, and juices. Grocery stores, gas stations, eateries, and the town of Solvang are all within short distances away. All-in-all, this is an okay place to stay for a night-if you do not want to spend more money for a higher end hotel or bed and breakfast.

It's a two star hotel so I was pretty much expecting to be paying for a place to sleep, with a stoner at the front desk, and a average bed to sleep in. That was not to be the case at all.  We were greeted very well be a nice gentleman.  Asked if we had been there before, where we were coming from etc.  Explained in detail where the room, breakfast and more.  The room was clean and did not smell at all as other reviews have stated.  The bathroom was clean and the shower actually had great water pressure and the hot water stayed on as needed.   The bed was more than average and had a good night's sleep

The only negative was that the free wifi was inconsistent and the breakfast room didn't have a lot of seating. I will definitely stay there again if I need a place in that area.

Nice lobby, friendly staff. That's about all that is good. Room was ok...noisy, could hear freeway traffic ALL night! Beds very uncomfortable, small, small rooms. Would not stay here again.

I can't believe anyone gave this 4 or 5 stars... that is sooo pushing it!! (Unless they paid about $60 per night... then it might be a deal ;)  I paid $109 plus taxes = $120, and could have gotten so much more for my money at another nicer hotel in the area.  I'd even pay a bit more, and jump up several levels of quality elsewhere!

The best thing going for this hotel is the breakfast... they have breads, fruit, cereal, pastries, sausage, bacon, and WAFFLE MAKER... in a clean, modern looking breakfast room.  Warning, it gets very crowded, and they run out of some breakfast items by 9:30 am. (at least when we were there).

Con's:  PRICE is high for what you get!!! :(  The room we had smelled so bad!! Plus there is a mildew feeling / smell, on top of the horrible stench that we couldn't figure out.  We felt gross staying there.. didn't want to take off shoes until just before bed.  And, we didn't shower while there... thought we'd wait until the next night when we were going to a much nicer hotel in Solvang. (the other hotel was booked for this night, so we were stuck trying this place).

The comfort of the bed... tolerable for one night, but any longer and I'm sure back pain would set in.  If you lie near the edge, the bed sinks off to the side.  Pillows were too puffy for my liking.

It wasn't the worst hotel we've seen, but for the price, I'd expect something much nicer.  If the rooms were as nice as the lobby area, and breakfast room, my review would be much different.  But, it's deceiving because it's really nice when you walk in.... but then by the time you get to your room... yuck!

You can find better deals, closer to Solvang, if you shop around.  Hadsten House, in Solvang, was only about $20 more per night, and is leaps and bounds ahead of this place in QUALITY!  (Plus, I met people at Hadsten House that paid even less than I did, so definitely shop around for rates at OTHER places! ;)

No plans to ever stay at this Quality Inn again!!

As I was done with my dinner at the Hitching Post, I checked in at this hotel, because the others were all booked and rather sleep here and head out early tomorrow for wine tasting, breakfast, visiting the shops of this small tiny dutch like town.

The rooms was comfy, not to expect too much at 11ish at night, but hey I needed a place to shower, change, and get some shut eye until morning comes.

    ZZzzzzzzZZzzzz....................................

The place wasn't so bad, the beds were cleaned and neat, the bathroom was extra clean. There was the usual, dining room area, a mini fridge, a microwave(like who's gonna eat after mid-night...ooops! me! lol) I wanted a place where I can called it my sanitary and to have alone time for a nice warm bath after a long day venturing off into this town...

    *ring. ring*

The day started with my alarm that went off at 8ish. I jumped into the shower and then got dressed. Wearing a sun dress and flip-flops, very summery fashion to fit the perfect day to relax and enjoy good food and explore great places...I am ready to start my day off...

*runs to the door and off I go into the town of Solvang*

We happened upon Quality Inn while on the online prowl for a more affordable option for housing in the Solvang area. You would be surprised, but $145 doesn't get you much in Solvang. It was either Quality Inn for $110 or Solvang Inn & Cottages for $145. My sister, her husband, and their baby stayed at Solvang Inn & Cottages and I have to say that I was much happier with Quality Inn.

You get much more value for the money spent -- I suppose it's because Quality is a chain so they can make things more affordable when compared to mom and pop hotels. We had the basic amenities -- coffee pot, iron, refrigerator, even a microwave! The service was friendly, people always smiled and were more than happy to help. Complimentary breakfast was rather good with belgian waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, english muffins, toast.

It appeared that most everything was better than the more expensive alternative located in Solvang. Despite the fact that we weren't living in the middle of Solvang, it was still great bang for your buck. Nothing else besides Motel 6 was more affordable in the area and I don't think anything else would've given such great value. I can't say that this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at, it's definitely not a luxury hotel, but it's one of the better affordable ones (less than $150) in the area.

In all honesty, if this hotel were picked up and moved somewhere else and charged what they did, they would get about 2 stars.  But considering the fact that it is in a very expensive location and it is one of the least expensive places to stay in that location, I say it's pretty good for the money!

You get free breakfast, and we learned to be patient during breakfast because everyone is trying to get everything at the same time.  It is a continental breakfast but a good one at that after you fight everyone off.   There was a really helpful woman in the breakfast room who was right on it when I ran out of hot water for my tea like she really genuinely cared.  Another lady at the front desk was super nice... I just remember her loving my perfume and when I started talking to her she was extremely nice.

As far as the rooms go... ehhhh well they are very small.  If you stay in Vegas often drop your expectations down by about 55 notches.  I felt like the place was clean and I definitely felt like our bedding was clean (which I have experienced quite a few places in which I can't say the same).  My boyfriend and I both thought the pillows were out of control!!!  They were big puffy pillows and he likes puffy pillows but they were wayyyy too puffy.   Trust me I'm not picky about pillows but if you are bring your own.  Other than that, everything was awesome... parking was great, location was great and everybody seemed nice.

On our last day we went to go get breakfast and when we got back to the room our key wouldn't work.  There were 2 other couples who had the same problem.  We were all checking out that day and check out time was 11 and it was only 10 at the time.  They OBVIOUSLY deactivated our keys... but when we went down there to tell them they tried to say that they must have been demagnetized in our pockets.  Oh really?  3 separate people in 3 separate rooms just demagnetized all of our keys in our own pockets?

Oh well... human error but shoot at least admit it!  Overall a good place to stay on a solvang / wine tasting visit.

Budget hotel for the budget traveler. If you need basic accommodations, this place in the Santa Ynez area is a good choice; it's certainly one of the least expensive options that's not a "motel".

The rooms are dated but clean, the staff is very friendly and the location right off the 101 is convenient (but noisy).

Much more than we were expecting for a Quality Inn. Nice lobby, large & clean rooms and very conveniently located off the expressway. On a busy summer weekend in August 2011, it was one of the only places in the area that allowed for a one night weekend stay, and was very reasonably priced (~$129 + tax). This hotel is not walking distance to downtown Solvang or any of the wineries, is approximately 1.5 miles from the Hitching Post, another 1.5 further to Solvang, and  ~$10-$15 cab ride. After a day of wine tasting in the Santa Ynez region, followed by strolling around Solvang & dinner at the Hitching Post II this was easy to find our way back to and the perfect place to rest our heads!

Such friendly staff, convenience and for the price, it cant be beat. I stayed here for the Solvang Century this year and I am so glad because not only was I given a discount off the online price (I have no idea why, I didnt even ask for it!!!!) but was allowed to check out after the stated time and all with a smile! I am going to come back for all my future bike trips in this area.

One word = TERRIBLE. My daughter and I stayed here for three nights right before Christmas. Our room was not cleaned or serviced any of the days we were there despite complaints to the front desk manager. Most definately will not be going back there.
