As I was done with my dinner at the Hitching Post, I checked in at this hotel, because the others were all booked and rather sleep here and head out early tomorrow for wine tasting, breakfast, visiting the shops of this small tiny dutch like town.

The rooms was comfy, not to expect too much at 11ish at night, but hey I needed a place to shower, change, and get some shut eye until morning comes.

ZZzzzzzzZZzzzz....................................

The place wasn't so bad, the beds were cleaned and neat, the bathroom was extra clean. There was the usual, dining room area, a mini fridge, a microwave(like who's gonna eat after mid-night...ooops! me! lol) I wanted a place where I can called it my sanitary and to have alone time for a nice warm bath after a long day venturing off into this town...

*ring. ring*

The day started with my alarm that went off at 8ish. I jumped into the shower and then got dressed. Wearing a sun dress and flip-flops, very summery fashion to fit the perfect day to relax and enjoy good food and explore great places...I am ready to start my day off...

*runs to the door and off I go into the town of Solvang*

In all honesty, if this hotel were picked up and moved somewhere else and charged what they did, they would get about 2 stars.  But considering the fact that it is in a very expensive location and it is one of the least expensive places to stay in that location, I say it's pretty good for the money!

You get free breakfast, and we learned to be patient during breakfast because everyone is trying to get everything at the same time.  It is a continental breakfast but a good one at that after you fight everyone off.   There was a really helpful woman in the breakfast room who was right on it when I ran out of hot water for my tea like she really genuinely cared.  Another lady at the front desk was super nice... I just remember her loving my perfume and when I started talking to her she was extremely nice.

As far as the rooms go... ehhhh well they are very small.  If you stay in Vegas often drop your expectations down by about 55 notches.  I felt like the place was clean and I definitely felt like our bedding was clean (which I have experienced quite a few places in which I can't say the same).  My boyfriend and I both thought the pillows were out of control!!!  They were big puffy pillows and he likes puffy pillows but they were wayyyy too puffy.   Trust me I'm not picky about pillows but if you are bring your own.  Other than that, everything was awesome... parking was great, location was great and everybody seemed nice.

On our last day we went to go get breakfast and when we got back to the room our key wouldn't work.  There were 2 other couples who had the same problem.  We were all checking out that day and check out time was 11 and it was only 10 at the time.  They OBVIOUSLY deactivated our keys... but when we went down there to tell them they tried to say that they must have been demagnetized in our pockets.  Oh really?  3 separate people in 3 separate rooms just demagnetized all of our keys in our own pockets?

Oh well... human error but shoot at least admit it!  Overall a good place to stay on a solvang / wine tasting visit.

We happened upon Quality Inn while on the online prowl for a more affordable option for housing in the Solvang area. You would be surprised, but $145 doesn't get you much in Solvang. It was either Quality Inn for $110 or Solvang Inn & Cottages for $145. My sister, her husband, and their baby stayed at Solvang Inn & Cottages and I have to say that I was much happier with Quality Inn.

You get much more value for the money spent -- I suppose it's because Quality is a chain so they can make things more affordable when compared to mom and pop hotels. We had the basic amenities -- coffee pot, iron, refrigerator, even a microwave! The service was friendly, people always smiled and were more than happy to help. Complimentary breakfast was rather good with belgian waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, english muffins, toast.

It appeared that most everything was better than the more expensive alternative located in Solvang. Despite the fact that we weren't living in the middle of Solvang, it was still great bang for your buck. Nothing else besides Motel 6 was more affordable in the area and I don't think anything else would've given such great value. I can't say that this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at, it's definitely not a luxury hotel, but it's one of the better affordable ones (less than $150) in the area.
